Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

I have been here more times than i care to recall and I have been slim and I have been not slim. My main motivation now is for my health AND I am SO bored with this up down up down shit.

So the ONLY thing that works is willpower and focussing on what we are going to look like in the warm weather... even half a stone is better off than on by then.

Top tip - tape your gob with sellotape of an evening. Concentrates the mind wonderfully

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 20/02/2012 22:09

Mind you, I have stood in my kitchen before now with a piece of cake in my hand mentally screaming at myself before throwing it in the bin in a huff

LaVitaBellissima · 20/02/2012 22:10

Grin @ sellotape

My new one is to clean my teeth at 7pm when DTD's go to bed, only water afterwards. Day 1 has gone ok, DP has been asleep on the couch though, it might of been tougher if he'd been sat scoffing as usual.

fitflopqueen · 20/02/2012 23:16

ok started well today,
Breakfast - mango
lunch - scrambled egg & smoked salmon
dinner - tuna salad.
sounds great but had 2 choc eclairs, some nuts and lemon tart, needed to be finished so no more distractions now
no exercise as busy workday and taxi servicing this evening for teen.

very early start and long drive tomorrow, have got organised with protein so i dont fall off wagon quite so badly, should be no carbing by wednesday Hmm

HerRoyalNotness · 21/02/2012 02:06

Sellotape is just what I need now, I'm salivating and can SMELL the chocolate I'd normally have. DSs had a mini cornetto for pudding and when I picked up DS2 I almost licked him instead of using a washcloth Grin

So I am 70.4kgs, today I ate

Breakfast: yoghurt and fruit snack
Lunch: sandwich with cheese and ham, SMALL Lindt bunny
Snack: apple
Dinner: 4(!) drumsticks (tbf they were teeny), raw mixed veg with Caesar dressing and avocado
Supper: coffee with frothy baileys milk (broke my no alcohol rule)

Going to have a large glass of water now to sate my hunger

Oh and Exercise: walk/run/walk/run home from work. Hoping within a month I'll be able to run the whole way

tibni · 21/02/2012 08:36

When dd was 9 her then best friend had serious eating issues to the point of anorexia. I had lots of chats with my dd about food as this friend was at our house a lot (she would eat at my house where at home she picked up on her mums understandable anxiety).

I tried to instil in dd that there are no such foods as bad foods, that some foods we do not need so much of and some we need more. I think guilt surrounding food is very damaging. Saying that I wouldn't say that I really live by it myself fully and do get into the diet mentality which results on far too much focus on food.

I'm doing ok so far I think. Had to skip the gym yesterday as I hurt my back Sunday but will go today and have an easy session.

Hope everyone has a good day.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 21/02/2012 09:35

Right - weighed in today and have lost 0.4kgs since last week so its a start in the right direction.

Ferfuxake - today is a new day. Dont deprive yourself - do a meal plan, stick to it, and treat yourself with one little treat a day (be it a glass of wine, chocolate biscuit or a nice long bath) for doing well. Make sure its just one little treat mind you. Will give you something to look forward to.

Lol at the sellotape trick FuckU - a good distraction I found is painting your nails. Leaves you unable to do anything for ages...

RockChick1984 · 21/02/2012 12:28

Hi all, am I too late to join? I've got a party on 17th march and I'm desperate to lose a stone (or as close as possible!) by then. I'm still carrying a fair bit of baby weight, that 1 stone would take me back to pre pregnancy weight but could probably do with losing a bit more as I was gaining weight before I fell pregnant!

Current weight 11st 2lb, pre pregnancy 10st 4lb. Happiest I've ever been was when I was hovering around the 9st mark.

I've never really had to diet properly before, just occasionally had to cut back for a couple of weeks if I gained weight so this is all new to me! I've joined the gym, and yesterday was my first day trying to stick to my diet. I am also an all-or-nothing person, i can't eat a bit of chocolate, I have to eat 3 snickers bars and 2 bags of crisps!

wannabestressfree · 21/02/2012 12:52

What I am finding hard is that I am not hungry but still crave food..... I eat a lot and graze as well. Have had an apple and banana for breakfast, mango for snack and a chicken salad for lunch which I basically inhaled. Lots of green diet and one diet coke.

Low carb is the best way for me. My brother does it much more strictly with no fruit, certain veg etc but I can't do that. I am reasoning that by just avoiding the copious amounts of shit, bread, choccy I normally eat I will lose weight.

Please god..........

LaVitaBellissima · 21/02/2012 12:57

RockChick This time last year I was 10st13 and got back to my pre pregnancy weight of 10st4 in 6 weeks! It's really do able. I just followed my rules and did the Shred. Like you though the happiest I ever was was around 9stone.

I have a hen do & a friends wedding coming up that I want to look good for, so I'm determined to get to at least 9st7 this time. I find once the weight is lost it's fairly easy to maintain. Just hard actually losing it.

No pain no gain as they say!

Ifancyanewname · 21/02/2012 13:04

Can I join in, I'm sort of low carbing but not extreme as still bf dd. I've basically cut out all bread/cakes/pasta and rice. I've been doing quite well until last week when we had a drama and have since been drinking wine every night and eaten quite a lot of choc..i'm such an emotional eater. I've still pretty much maintained though which just makes me cross because I think if I hadnt drank wine I would have dropped another few pounds. Oh well, whats done is done...I'm starting at 11st 13lb I'd like to ideally get to 10s 7lb. I've been doing couch to 5k but I havent ran in a week because of illness and drama. I need to get back into it!!!!

dinkystinkyexpectations · 21/02/2012 13:16

Wannabe - try to combine protein with a small amount of carbs at your meals (so that apple and banana with a yoghurt) - should help keep you full for longer and cut the cravings (which I suspect are as a result of insulin dips after ingesting sugar in banana, mango etc.)

mousemole · 21/02/2012 13:18

Welcome to rockchick and ifancyanewname . Emotional eating is my downfall too. I reach for food if stressed, happy, sad.... Not sure why but think it probably goes back to being bullied at school when I was 12 and sought solace in food. Anyway, we can all do it this time ! Quite spring like today and I don't want to be in fat clothes this summer ! Grin

nenevomito · 21/02/2012 13:21

I'm an emotional eater as well.

Anyway, I actually did it and dusted off my old Wii Fit yesterday. It told me that it had been 275 days since my last session. Thats a long time between exercise!!

wannabestressfree · 21/02/2012 13:43

Thanks dinky I have to blood test three times a day as have hypoglacemeia{sp} as a result of severe crohns and I think I need to retrain my body. I need the fruit as my 'sugar' to keep me upright :}

LackaDAISYcal · 21/02/2012 13:50

Another emotional eater here as well....currently waiting on a calorie laden cake defrosting...Blush

I have upset someone I work with (very complicated story involving a sticky note I had written to myself months ago in a personal notebook that even I can't remember the specifics of. I mislaid the notebook and the person who found it opened it to find out who it belonged to, saw the note and copmplained to my boss). I'm feeling really shit about it Sad as I hate to upset people, and have them that I'm not very nice. Not sure whether to acknowledge the complaint to my boss with them and apologise and have them think I was just making excuses or to just let it slide, knowing that our relationship is probably tainted now Sad

So, although I have been very good today so far (cereal and banana, some sushi and stir fried veg) the cake is calling me...

dustwhatdust · 21/02/2012 14:00

Tuesday - day 2 -well now weighing 55.2kg so according to the scales i've lost 1.4kg in 24 hours !- shows how much is just water eh ?
yesterday i ate -
oatbran porridge with sliced banana - breakfast
left over chilli con carne with extra kidney beans added + red cabbage, muller lite cherry ff yoghurt+ large tablspoon of fff natural yoghurt added - lunch
chilli again because i like it and made a huge batch and it's filling + muller ff mango yoghurt with extra ff natural yoghurt .
did a 8 mile walk too - suppose that helped !

dinkystinkyexpectations · 21/02/2012 14:30

Fair enough Wannabe - bodies are a bugger arent they! But try taking abit of protein with the sugar hit (5 or 6 nuts with the mango) and see if that helps stave off the cravings.

Lacka - that sounds like very sticky situation to be in. Hopefully it will all blow over quickly. And only have a small slice of that defrosted cake and then (if you can) go for a walk in the fresh air try to think of ways of turning things around.

In the zone today -skinny latte for breakfast, salad and nuts for lunch and will be having turkey breast and green salad for dinner plus a yoghurt. May have some houmous and oatcake or ryvita for snack pre-dinner. Managed a 30 min free cycle and pilates today too so feel better about things.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/02/2012 14:51

It was only a single cake bar thing and I shared 40/60 50/50 erm 60/40 with DS2 so not all bad!

Still not sure about my work situation though. The thing is the person actually asked me a question about a similar situation yesterday in a WWYD manner.....and I told them to go to the boss! so I made my own bed, AND lay in it I suppose!

I will apologise for my stupidity though!

SeriousWispaHabit · 21/02/2012 15:18

Well I have been saint like in the face of temptation. It is not like me at all Confused

I went to a friend's house this morning and declined cake (lovely cream buns and eclairs) and then went to soft play and as there was nothing suitable on the menu for lunch I just had fizzy water and 'shared' with DD2 whilst actually just eating the middle of two of her chicken things and picking off the coating.

I can see how I have put on so much weight because if those situations had happened two weeks ago I would have had a cream cake (or two) and then probably burger and chips. And a proper dinner Blush

I am starving now though and enjoying a late lunch of tuna salad.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 21/02/2012 15:19

Ah yes, kids - great for the diet provided you keep away from their left overs Grin Honestly LackaDaisycal I'm sure it will blow over in no time - and apologising for stupidity will go a long way to clearing the air with any luck.

LearningFast · 21/02/2012 16:01

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in... things are going well here so far, but as I can usually manage 3 - 7 days of diet goodness before cracking I've not really tested myself yet...

Anyway, being positive - for the last 2 days I've had porridge for breakfast (can't do low carbs! I'm a veggie who runs best on veg + carbohydrates) light lunch (yesterday pitta pockets with hummous & salad, today beans on toast) then a couple of items of fruit as snacks before dinner (veg stir fry last night).

I'm a compulsive weigher once I've started a diet, so discovered this morning that after one day of diet goodness, I had put on 1lb...

The lesson there is, don't weight yourself more than once a week!

Keep up the good work everyone, we will do this!!!

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 21/02/2012 16:04

Hello all...

I've worked off lots of calories today [ shan't bore you as to how Wink ] and I have eaten...

Breakfast - 40g Feta cheese
Black grapes
5 dried Apricots/ small amount of fat free yogurt

Nothing further yet... but I'm planning rocket, roasted butternut squash, roasted red pepper and goats cheese salad.

Weighed myself this morning and ive lost 15lbs since january 21st

CheesyWellingtons · 21/02/2012 17:17

LackaDAISYcal I once did the exact same thing. I had jotted some very cryptic notes in my notebook for someone's appraisal and they found the notes. God knows what they were doing in my personal notes, but there you go. In actual fact my points were pertinent (they had been asking for greater responsibility and then when I gave it to them, they didn't step up to it, so I had simply jotted a couple of things to explain the point in our appraisal meeting). The person concerned had had ishoos with all her past managers, in hindsight, though at the time, it was very difficult. Are you sure this person isn't a similarly difficult trouble maker? Is it possible they noted you jotting things down and took the notebook?

LearningFast · 22/02/2012 07:42

So how did everyone do on pancake day? It was a challenge to limit myself to 2 savoury and 2 sweet ones! I did some careful calorie counting to make sure I wasn't going to blow the diet... Luckily I had some enforced exercise in the morning due to being rather late for Mum and Baby yoga - had to do a 30 mins run / fast walk there with DS's pram (which is not a jogging buggy so rather hard to push at speed LOL).
