The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions.
The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us. We are friendly, supportive and successful but we're not hungry!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Solo · 31/03/2012 18:58

Ok, I have had a PM back from Kinky and she is not having a great time of things. Dd is home, but has viral pneumonia, so isn't well at all. Kinky has been off the wagon, put on a few lbs and feels like she's a misery.

I've told her that we love having her on the thread and we are fine with listening to her, we like to know how things are etc.

Hopefully, she'll feel able to come back soon.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 31/03/2012 19:43

Aw luffly kinky, if you're lurking, I hope things turn around soon, especially with DD. Don't beat yourself up about a bit of gaining. Concentrate on your daughter's health and simply functioning. You'll be welcome with open arms whenever you're ready.
It's very strange being home. I feel almost guilty. Very tearful at times. Guess I'm just adjusting. That's after 9 days, how do people cope being released after years in prison?! I'm still eating with Paul principled. Appetite is teeny. Just making sure I have a small portion so I'm not too overwhelmed.

lotney · 31/03/2012 22:35

I have problems with compulsive and binge eating. Has anyone here found it helpful for these issues? I've lost the book but I have the CD so I might download the book.

crazynell · 01/04/2012 00:24

Lotney, i'm sure someone can help you here better than i can, but my understanding is that pmk could help you with your desire/addiction to food in that there are no forbidden foods and you eat what you want when you are hungry and stop when you're are full, so you don't feel deprived and then end up breaking out and binging.

Try it and see :)
Kinky thinking of you
A good day today - out all day at an art workshop and didn't overeat - didn't even eat more than one homemade cupcake (when i was hungry) :)

Hope everyone is doing fine

ppeatfruit · 01/04/2012 09:16

Happy April Fool's Day Everyone! Grin Welcome lotney Smile IMO Paul Mckenna is the best place to be for your problems as crazy says because he actually addresses ALL those problems and it helps so well! AND THAT'S NOT AN APRIL FOOL Grin

Mrskbpw · 02/04/2012 10:52

Hello all

I have just bought the Paul McKenna book and today is the first day of the new me. Bit of background - I've basically been on a diet since I was 15 (I'm now 38!). I was borderline anorexic as a teenager and since then have been on and off every diet going. I'm now at rock bottom, heavier than I've ever been (except when I was pregnant) and using food as a comfort/distraction/reward/punishment etc.

Paul's book has been a bit of an eye-opener, and I'm really hoping it's going to give me the help I need. I feel very positive about it. Will listen to the CD this evening.

I've read back a few pages, but can't keep track of everyone. Just wanted to say hello, really. How are you all finding this way of eating? How long have you all been doing it? And have you all lost weight?

MardyBra · 02/04/2012 10:57

Bad weekend (again). OK start again!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/04/2012 12:24

Morning all, Happy Monday! :)

I am still poorly, but now have inflamed sinuses to add to the mix. Joyful. And it is the holidays, so no preschool for DS1....!!

Weight is still bumping along at 13st 1.5lbs which is the lowest point I've got to. Really want to get down to 12st-something!

Mrskb - I love Pauling, it really isn't a diet. I have been doing it almost 11 months and I've lost 14.5lbs. That is while BFing and being massively sleep deprived as well, so I am really chuffed.

ppeatfruit · 02/04/2012 12:47

Good afternoon everyone Smile Mrskbp welcome you're in the RIGHT place I've never been on W.W. type diets so maybe didn't have to loose as much as some but even with my really healthy diet I needed to loose 3 stone (it just creeps on doesn't it?)

.So I have lost the weight and am maintaining (something that wasn't the case
before PMK Smile) Ali I always find giving up the dairy is a great help with sinus problems! and again congrats on the 14.5lbs that 's over a stone in old money isn't it? And you really should be proud of yrself it's not easy when yr. tired Grin Smile have some flowers Thanks.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/04/2012 13:59

Welcome welcome Mrskbp! You are I'm the right place. Everyone who wants to stop dieting and lose weight is in the right place here :) I've lost about 13lbs since January but you may have picked up I've been rather ill. Like you, I'd dieted since young adulthood and yo-yoyed ever since. I'm now the lightest I've been in 2 1/2 years but I'm more body confident than I can remember! It'll take a while to settle to the idea of eating whatever you want when you're hungry, especially with dieting for so long. But soon food will taste fantastic, you'll feel happier and you'll be amazed to find even eating whatever you want, you'll still lose weight! You're bound to have questions. Ask away!
Sympathies Ali sinus pain is hideous. I recommend inhaling steam with olbas oil to ease the pain.
I'm still struggling health wise. I have no energy! Just changing the bed has wiped me out! One step at a time...

KinkyDorito · 02/04/2012 14:09

Aww, bless you all.

I'm okay, just fed up. I don't know if I said on this thread, but a girl we knew on the ward died whilst we were there last week and it really threw me Sad. Aside from being devastated for her family, and her, I think it brings home everything we worry about as parents of cancer patients. She had the same illness as DD. She was doing well, as far as we knew, too.

As Solo said, I have essentially ballooned in a week and a bit. My eating had been off kilter since returning to work and feeling stressed with juggling that and DDs increasing illness as it's been building up over a month (plus DS had conjunctivitis, followed by chicken pox, followed by conjunctivitis, so spent about 4 weeks being banned from child minder so DH has used nearly all his annual leave up). It's been shit. Again.

Surely I'm due a lottery win soon???!!

Anyway, I met a friend last night for a drink and nearly had a heart attack when I realised how much bigger I'd got in such a short space of time. So, I am trying to reign it back in and climb back on the PMK wagon.

Thank you for the kind messages. It is nice to be thought of. It can be very lonely being a prisoner in hospital/at home.

BigBoobiedBertha · 02/04/2012 15:51

Good to 'see' you Kinky.

So sorry you are having such a crap time. I am sure when your lottery win comes it will be a bloody big one because you deserve it.

Post about anything you want on here if you like. Better than being lonely. I am a bit Angry about your DS's conjunctivitis not allowing him to go to his child minder. I have yet to meet a doctor who has thought the way school/child care providers treat conjunctivitis suffers is justified. We have had our fair share here, me and the DSs, and never passed it on to one another. I know sometimes it can be quite severe but for most people it is no bigg deal. Makes me cross they ban the children with that.

The Easter holidays will hopefully allow everybody to regroup their energies.

balia · 02/04/2012 19:33

Hi all, hope you don't mind me butting in - ppeatfruit recommended it. Have done some reading, what a revelation! And weirdly, it is how I used to eat when a skinny teen/twenty something. Actually posted for advice for a family 'support' diet for my SIL who has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and have sent off for the book/CD combo.

Read the first bit online, though, and it just feels like a great weight has lifted off - had no idea how much pressure I was putting myself under to eat 'healthily' - it really started when I was expressing milk for very prem DS, trying to give him the best product possible (sounds a bit mental when I type it out but was a bit mental at the time with worry...). I'm catching myself going to the fridge and thinking 'I ought to eat that up'.

However, during a working week I regularly cook for 4 - 6 people, 3 of whom will be joining me on the family 'diet' PMK, how does that work with the 'Eat what you want' section of the rules? (I'm not going to be cooking 4 different meals any time soon).

Solo · 03/04/2012 01:15

Hi all :) Sorry about the crap health stuff Ali and everyone else unhealthy atm.

Kinky!! welcome back. I don't think you mentioned about the passing away :( but you are bound to have been hit hard by it and I am so sorry for you all. Try to be strong and positive ~ not easy I'm sure, but I'm sending positive vibes your way ((((((+VIBES+))))))

Balia welcome to you! no butting in allowed, but joining us is the thing to do :)
'Eating what you want.' We really take that as eating the food you'd normally want to eat when not on a restrictive diet. So eating a lasagne with chips is perfectly fine as long as you follow the rules. Simples!!! :)

We are now not going away for a holiday which has disappointed me so it must be really disappointing for the Dc's :( ho hum.

I've also got a fuel leak on the car now (almost exactly one year since the last time!!), so that's something else to find money for .

I'm off to bed now, but hope to post again tomorrow.

Kinky Sad about the girl who passed away.
Don't feel like you can't post here even if you aren't Pauling, maybe we can be a shoulder for you.

Balia - welcome, jump right in Smile With the eat what you want, I always think of it more as 'don't eat what you don't want'. ie. don't eat some disgusting diet meal or bar in an attempt to be healthy, because you will only be hunting for the cake in half an hour.
Eat food you like and enjoy, it doesn't need to be the thing you most crave in the world at that moment.

Solo Sad

I have done well today despite the lurgies. Tastebuds are screwed so no point eating! It has actually made it really difficult to identify my hunger point.

ppeatfruit · 03/04/2012 07:25

Morning all especially the newbies Smile balia we are kind and welcoming on this thread also helpful so you are NOT butting in. Grin Ref. cooking for a whole family on PMK (i 'm assuming it's yr family!) i'd just cook what I wanted or maybe do a meat dish and a fish and or veg. e.g. tuna and or chicken salad and a veg. lasagne.

it's VERY good to hear from you Kinky Smile just jump back on the P.Mc. Love to DD and DS.

I'm just posting once today 'cos instead of coming on here after meals I'm continuing painting my new (old) dresser (I've wanted one for years since moving into our ancient Fr. house and finally found one for 65euros in a junk (brocante) shop apart from woodworm it's perfect and I'm glad I waited! Also i'm cleaning and dusting 'cos DS and his new wife and our GD are coming on Easter Mon. and he's allergic to bleedin' cat hairs so although of course this old dusty place ALWAYS needs it It's now got to be damp dusting and between the pipes of really OLD fashioned radiators Shock!!

Mrskbpw · 03/04/2012 09:53

Morning all. I am finding you very inspiring! Kinky - I don't know all your back story but sorry you're having such a hard time. I think the advice on conjunctivitis has changed and kids don't need to be kept away from others now - my childminder checked the last time my son had it.

I listened to the CD last night for the first time. It's a bit odd, isn't it? I was slightly freaked out by the way some of it was in my left ear and some in my right. And today I'm freaked out that I can't remember it, even though he says that might happen at the beginning. Do you all listen every day?

crazynell · 03/04/2012 12:39

Morning everyone _ oop's its 12 30.

Kinky sending you a virtual hug (((( ))))

PP it sounds great - i envy you! Although not the dusting :)

Welcome MrskB I also find the cd a bit weird and used to worry that i couldn't listen to what PMK was saying on his cd and would strain to listen to every word - i don't worry now, i just put it on and lie back and let it go in - i think its the subliminal effect anyway.

I'm doing fine, so far so good :) i had some apple strudel and custard at my s/daughters house and left half, knowing if i carried on eating it i'd feel full and bloated. I went out for a meal of fish n chips last nite and stopped eating when i was full - even tho they were delicious

Keep it up folks
Crazy x

HeyNonnyNo · 03/04/2012 19:27

Good evening. Just rocking a squawking baby to sleep with my toes, and mulling over the last week. First kinky, oof, you poor love, you must be knocked sideways by that poor girl's death. You deserve a lottery win more than the rest of the country. Do you think I could write to them to suggest it? Commiserations to the poorly Paulers too.

Good news. My cake won 1st prize at our village spring show. Bad news. Then I ate it. Without much help. Gah. I am rubbish at this!

spendthrift · 03/04/2012 21:25

Kinky, sympathy from here.

Haven't been on for some time. Dm was taken into hospital and is only now coming out. Consultant has told me I have to cut out most nice foods for the next six months. Am not surviving without coffee, tea and red wine, so what's left? Cake!

Friendship cakes in the oven taking twice as long as they should. Anyone done them? If they are any good I'll give them away..

But have bought new copy of pm and will start again. Hope it works over Easter.

HeyNonnyNo · 03/04/2012 22:00

spendthrift, hope your mum is doing ok now. Sympathies regarding tea, coffee and red wine. Did consultant rule out gin?! I have a prize winning recipe for fruit tea loaf if you're not allowed ginGrin
