Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

CSWS, I need to be running my menus by you before I actually eat anything I think! I really am grateful for you helping me and pointing me in the right direction. Luckily, I haven't done much damage with the creme fraiche as I used 3 tbsp of it in the sauce and that was for 3 of us. I was actually meant to add fromage frais but as I'd bought that by mistake, I just used it anyway Grin

I've just written down loads of free foods that I am likely to want to eat on either day so I'll make sure that comes shopping with me so I have plenty to snack on.

I'm not so good as using both b choices up. I wouldn't mind having 2 cereals in 1 day. I guess its easier to use them up on a red day as you can have a certain amount of potatoes or rice or whatever you want.

I think tomorrow will be spent creating some red or green days (which I will then let CSWS, and anyone else who feels up to the challenge, scrutinise them for me)

TheScarlettPimpernel · 28/01/2012 22:58

Good luck with menu planning Kid - I always plan at least a day ahead and it does make me feel more in control and at ease (too early to tell whether it's actually successful for weight loss Hmm Grin)

FriendofDorothy · 28/01/2012 23:17

Evening all. I hve been out for a big curry tonight for The Mister's birthday tomorrow. I managed to eat a reasonably low-syn rogan josh (4.5) syns and plain rice but then I also had a garlinc naan (about 20 syns) and a Cobra beer.

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day and I shall flexi-syn it. It was good though :)

FriendofDorothy · 28/01/2012 23:18

Oh, I have worked out that on average since Monday I have had 13 syns a day.

kid · 28/01/2012 23:20

Sounds lovely Dorothy, especially the garlic naan. Its important to treat yourself now and again, as long as you can get back on track which I'm sure you can.

debka · 29/01/2012 09:32

Well working on the basis that it's important to treat yourself occasionally, I am doing marvellously this week Wink Grin Had a minor blowout last night but I've been angelic the rest of the time and am back on track today so I reckon all will be well

Friend I am Envy of your curry, my favourite is chicken passander with peshwari naan, about 1000 syns so I'm not even bothering with Indian.

CSWS cast an eye over this please :)

B- bacon, egg, pear
L- roast beef with lots of veg (at my mum's)- how many syns for gravy?
D- Maybe leek and potato soup, not sure yet
S- 2 weetabix after my 20 MINUTE run Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2012 09:41

gravy depends on how it's made. if just granules and water then a couple of syns for 100ml, but if she uses meat juices then much more.
now if you can just add some fruit to your weetabix then you can have a gold star Grin.

debka · 29/01/2012 09:54

It'll be meat juices but surely I get extra Virtuous Syns for refusing the Yorkshires? Grin

Gold star? For ME??? Thanks

FriendofDorothy · 29/01/2012 10:42

I always strain all of the fat out of the meat juices before they go in the gravy. I don't count loads of syns for it then.

SlinkyB · 29/01/2012 14:11

Hello, just checking in, sorry not been around much but have been far too busy celebrating my pfb's 1st birthday and our house purchase going through! We move on 24th Feb, can't wait.

Am afraid I've not been on the wagon for a few days now, and I'm not planning on jumping back on until Tuesday, eek. Ah well, am basically at target now, so am just going to use the 80/20 rule (ish) and try to be sensible.

Have enjoyed reading the thread and seeing how you're all doing. I love horror films too; tis my favourite genre. Am ashamed to say I haven't seen the Witch Master General or The Wicker Man yet, but will add them to my 'to watch' list. Dp says he recommends American Werewolf in London and Straw Dogs. Any of you seen 'Them', 'Tell No One' or 'Inside'? Great French thrillers/horrors.

Right, off to make a completely un-SW lasagne ready for my family to descend in an hour for yet more birthday celebrations. Have a good Sunday all.

P.S Welcome to rising - you're in great company here if you're trying to lose weight!

kid · 29/01/2012 20:04

I've had such a rubbish day with food today. Not overdone it, just not had much of a selection of food at all but I guess thats better than stuffing my face!

I've had:

B: 2 weetabix (b), milk (a)
L: cheese, ham and leek pasta n'sauce (low syns)
Banana
D:cheese and brocolli pasta n'sauce (told you it was a rubbish day)

I think I'll have some blackberries and strawberries in a minute as I've sliced them up already. I have some muller lights too but I think the fruit will be plenty.

Its been a busy day with lots of clearing up and tonnes of ironing so and it was only me having dinner so I really couldn't be bothered to cook anything.
I've just done my shopping online and I've got loads of bits for recipes so that will give me some decent meals to cook next week. Its not coming till Tuesday though so I've got to create something for tomorrow.

I want to try that baked beans lasagne. I think I'll put in some mushrooms and onions too. I don't actually know the whole recipe so will hunt it out now.

Billywenttobognor · 29/01/2012 20:05

Fester is that you?

Billywenttobognor · 29/01/2012 20:06

Oops, sorry. Wrong thread Grin

FriendofDorothy · 29/01/2012 20:20

I have stuffed my face for two days. Hoping that I can redeem the damage by Wednesday :(

debka · 29/01/2012 20:24

Fester? Fester? Where aaaarrrreeee you? (WTF kind of name is Fester anyway?) Grin That's hilarious!

kid that is a bit grim, Sundays can be like that for me too cos Monday is my shopping and planning day, I can kind of lose the will to live a bit by today. I swear if I didn't have to cook for the family I would also live on pasta n sauce. yum. What is baked beans lasagne? Sounds weird but nice...

Been good today, and my mum God bless her made SW roasties so I ate five Grin. Just did my 20 minute run but couldn't face any fruit with my weetabix, sorry CSWS, but I did have masses of pineapple and grapes after lunch.

kid · 29/01/2012 20:35

Baked beans lasagne

1 onion
some mushrooms
2 tins of chopped tomatoes
2 tins of baked beans
garlic (i put loads in - bit of a garlic fiend!)
worcestershire sauce (splash)
soy sauce (splash)

Fry the onions and mushrooms using frylight.

Add all the other ingrediants and stir in well together.

In a lasagna dish - layer the tomato mixture at the bottom and then cover with some lasagna sheets (the ones that dont need pre soaking) and repeat finishing with the tomato mixture on top.

Cover and bake in the oven on Gas 7 for about 30 mins.

Remove from the oven and grate over half fat cheese (from healthy A allowance)

Pop back in the oven for 5 more mins until the cheese is melted.

Serve with SW chips or loads of veg - warning though it is very filling!

I haven't tried it yet but I have all of the ingredients so will be giving it a go tomorrow.

I've just finished off the blackberries and strawberries so at least I've had some fresh fruit today to go with all that pasta. I did do 2 hours of ironing so I was clearly too busy to consider cooking. Grin

Riapwhatyousow · 29/01/2012 21:46

baked bean lasagne??? (same principle as mushy pea curry and smash pizza?)

PANTS PANTS PANTS weekend here as DH's cheque is still lost in the mysterious banking system, so no lovely weekend of family outings and naughty treats to ease my PMS again Sad (not that I actually want naughty treats as such, it's just that we've been waiting for it since the first week in December...)

had an OK day yesterday - spent the morning with a volunteer group litter-picking, doing maintenance and scrubbing at the local play-park (DS1 was in his element digging a hole and cementing in a bin, and mending fencing), then highlight of my year after lunch - village jumble sale! GrinBlush then walk by the sea with Dsis and her kids, and cottage pie and apple crumble at mums.Smile we were meant to be orienteering today but lack of funds and bad weather cancelled that out.

have given self a talking to - new target is to lose 1 stone in an undetermined period of time. and incorporate more activity into each day. I have struck a deal with DH that if I give it 100% for 2 weeks, I can have sparkly wine and chinese takeaway on valentines day.

good news I think that DS1 has recovered from his digestive issues. He is going to swap his dry toast breakfast for bagel with cheese and ham, and reintroduce milk before bed.

debka what week are you on of Cto5k?

debka · 29/01/2012 22:00

ria smash pizza??? I crave pizza, would try anything! I've just finished week 5.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2012 22:20

Food diary time...
GREEN day
B spaghetti
S starbucks soya latte with sugar free syrup (HEa)
L leftover rice, cauliflower rice, chicken casserole without any chicken Grin (basically sweetcorn, carrots and leeks in tarragon stock)
banana
D chips, eggs, baked beans
S toast (HEb) and lemon curd

Still got a HEb left, and still peckish. Hmm.....

kid · 29/01/2012 22:23

smash pizza? As in the instant mash stuff?
Even if I was starving, I still couldn't make myself eat that!

Do you all have a cut off time for eating each night? I know its late now but I'm beginning to feel hungry. I've just had a bath so am waiting for my hair to dry a bit. I'm drinking a glass of water as that sometimes tricks my body in to thinking its been fed!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2012 22:58

I've just eaten a hifi bar kid. My cut off time is when I go to sleep!

LakeFlyPie · 29/01/2012 23:19

Evening Smile

An OK day here as I had a fabulous (and well deserved) lie in so had breakfast for lunch, thereby omitting a meal for the day, not sure the extra sleeping would count for much on body magic but I don't care as I feel like a new - or at least slightly less sleep deprived person.

Your curry night sounds great dorothy, new start tomorrow and you might just get away with it on DOD

Happy birthday to DS slinky, great news about the house move.

Not so sure about baked bean lasagne kid, let us know how it eats (better than it sounds hopefully).
I love mushy peas and curry but the thought of mushy pea curry is just WRONG ria!
And WTF is smash pizza?

How was the run debka? 20 mins sounds a hell of a leap from 8 mins.

CSWS how do you rate the cauli rice? Have heard of it before but wasn't convinced by it as a concept.
My eating cut off is a minute before bed too unfortunately Grin

Evenings are my worst time for snacking, have managed to get back on plan but haven't managed to achieve the earlier nights plan which would address evening snacking and sleep deprivation simultaneously.

Food today was:

BF /L : FF yog, apple, muesli
D: Veg soup, salad, houmous, chicken and pitta bread
S: Fruit
Not even sure what sort of day that adds up to although the other half of the syn laden avo was in salad and I think the pitta is shockingly high in syns too.
Maybe EE?

Need to think about food for next couple of days and several other jobs before bed, don't know where my evenings go or how anyone manages to go to bed at 10 Hmm

kid · 29/01/2012 23:27

I've done my menu for tomorrow, I am having to manage on what food we have in the house for now as shopping is coming Tuesday.

Tomorrow looks like this:
Green day
B: weetabix (b), milk (a), banana
L: couscous, leeks, onions, peas, garlic
D: baked bean lasagne

muller light
apple, orange, grapes.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2012 23:29

I think the cauli rice is surprisingly good actually lake. It's a great way to bump up the superfree. We have had it with chicken and spinach curry on a red day, or mixed with some basmati rice too on green or EE days. Even the kids like it! I'd definitely recommend giving it a go to see what you think.
