We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Not banjo music surely!!! will be hard not to laugh now when I'm running. I seem to find the second run each week the hardest even though i'm increasing the speed each session (R1 8.5 R2 9 and r3 9.5). There doesn't seem to be any logic to that but there you go!

welcome to Marmalade

gettingalifenow · 20/01/2012 13:15

That's a good point, Doris. How fast does everyone run? I ran at only 8.4 km/ph this morning - if seemed to be challenging enough but maybe I should be aiming for faster?

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 13:33

Yes there are May, June and July around me MetalSian but I was thinking that was safer in case I have to repeat weeks and I'm planning to carry on running 3x a week so hopefully I will still be capable by then!

Welcome to the newcomers :)

MoneyBunny · 20/01/2012 13:34

Do you guys do calendar-weeks or 6 day weeks, if you know what I mean?

For calendar weeks you will have to rest for two days at one point each week, do you do this or do you just keep running every other day? I'm doing three days per calendar week, I am really eager to get out again but have to rest for two days now as I run Tues, Thurs and Sun.

I'm not very good at explaining things, I hope you understand what I am trying to get to.

nomorecake · 20/01/2012 13:36

feral girl - very tough run, but you must be proud of yourself for getting out there and doing it! imagine what you can go on a good day!

gettingalifenow - Hi! and welldone for starting, that was my biggest hurdle.
Someone up thread said to keep it slow, as going too fast causes people to give up too quickly. So i keep it really really slow, with little steps, until i can manage the run time.

w3r2 done finding it tough.
Its noisy inside my head, it sounds a bit like this 'DONT STOP, dont stop, you CAN do this, keep going cake, keep going cakey, KEEP GOING, you can do this, no giving up, just one foot in front of the other, you can keep it going a bit longer, a bit longer, just past that lampost, ignore your legs keep going'

think i'm trying to drown out the sound of my negative side (and legs!) telling me to stop!

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 13:41

I know what you mean MoneyBunny! I run every other day so Mon, wed, fri and sun one week and tues, thurs and sat the next.

MoneyBunny · 20/01/2012 13:44

nomorecake Gosh, I wish it was my legs giving up but with me it's more the lungs that go first! Hardly feel anything in my legs as I'm out of breath before the legs get a proper workout!

rusmum · 20/01/2012 14:15

Advice girls , should I stop till my knees stop
Hurting or push through it? Don't want to do damage but soo want to do this!

jchocchip · 20/01/2012 14:29

run much slower rusmum. Make sure you take all your rest days and leave speeding up until the end. If your knees are really painful you should get them checked.

btw it is week 5 run 2 that is halfway...

CoolRunnings · 20/01/2012 15:02

W3R3 completed this morning. I didn't do very well, much slower speed and distance overall. I think its partly because I did the shred for the first time yesterday, and partly because I had awful period pain halfway through. I feel a bit defeated

Oh well onwards and upwards! W4r1 tomorrow. Well done to everyone else.

BettySuarez · 20/01/2012 15:17

W2R3 completed today - was a bit crap if I'm honest. Legs felt like lead and also feel a bit deflated Sad

Wondering if skipping week 1 was such a good idea after all.

Might do one more run from week 2

OneLieIn · 20/01/2012 16:08

Coolrunnings, aren't you testing between? Only say that as I did w4r1 and it is a big step up. Maybe because I have also done shred. I am actually not fit enough to do both within 48 hours of each other

OneLieIn · 20/01/2012 16:22

Resting

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 17:27

Right off to run W4R1 in the rain, wish me luck!

Jnice · 20/01/2012 18:14

Oh good grief. We have snow turning to freezing rain. Supposed to start w4 today. Am terrified!

OneLieIn · 20/01/2012 18:24

Jnice, you'll be fine and you'll soon warm up!Grin

rusmum · 20/01/2012 18:30

Selling my mizuno wave 7 shoes size 8 of anyone needs any

jchocchip · 20/01/2012 18:32

No, not snow, please don't let it snow Hmm

debka · 20/01/2012 19:12

Meant to be off out for w4r2 tonight but I'm waiting to hear whether DD1 has settled at Granny's or not. Trying not to get too comfy or I'll never want to go out! Good luck those running in rain/sleet/snow/blizzards Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 19:20

I just kicked W4R1's arse!! Well not sure I should go that far but I did it all and did better than I expected!! I couldn't get the Grin off my face for the cool down walk!

You'll be fine Jnice, I was at least 5lb heavier by the time I finished because I absorbed so much rain, it was nice and cooling though.

Kewcumber · 20/01/2012 19:22

I am lurking

CoolRunnings · 20/01/2012 20:05

OneLieIn I do two days on, one day off. Found the shred a bit easier tonight so will see how my run goes tomorrow. I do a slightly different c25k to most of you as I've done this one before and it worked for me. Tomorrow is only two minutes extra running on mine, four five minute runs with two minute walk in between.

debka · 20/01/2012 20:12

Did it, w4r2. Realised that means I'm half way Shock cos it's 9 weeks, right?

MetalSian · 20/01/2012 20:51

Yeah 9 weeks.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 20:54

9 weeks with 3 runs a week is 27 runs, so run 13.5 is half way which will be the second run I week 5 I think?
