I WILL lose weight now. Anyone up for doing this with me and having a nice safe threat to bore the pants off everyone share our progress?

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 29/02/2012 08:13

Well, I'm very grateful for the extra day in this month but I made it! I wanted to have lost a stone by the end of Feb and as of this morning, my total weight loss is 1st 0.4lbs.

Close but I'd counting it as a win Grin

No more mini goals now - just got to get 8lbs off and I'm done!

5inthebed · 29/02/2012 10:45

Well done Blathers. Wish I only had 8lbs to lose.

GravityDefier · 29/02/2012 12:05

Well done Blathers, you definitely met your goal! Are you doing something nice today to celebrate?

Lozislovely, thank you for your supportive post. It's good to know others are struggling too at times. I have lost and gained the same 2 pounds over the last 2 months, and I know it's because I am not following it properly.
New week started yesterday and I only used my daily points. Will try and be as good today!

Going out for lunch just now. Does anyone know how much a tomato and basil soup with a bun would be? It's an independent coffee shop and I can't really estimate how much it would be.
10 points for both together?

Blatherskite · 29/02/2012 12:23

Nice? I've just been on a 2 and a half hour walk with DD does that count? Wink

Every month there is buggy friendly walk round one of the local parks with some activities at the end for the children. This months was quite close to my house so I decided to walk there and back too! So I've done a 20 minute half walk/half run there because we were late, an hours walk round the park (mostly at 2yo DD's pace but some with her in the buggy) and a 30 minute fast walk home again - most of which was done pushing a loaded buggy and most over uneven ground, dirt paths or over grass which obviously made it harder. There were even a few bridges to go over. I've pointed it as 1hr brisk walking and 1hr gentle walking so I've got 6 activity points for today. The other half hour we spent making a shaker out of a cardboard tube, some pasta and some plastic lids :)

Then I had Sushi when I got home which was 4pp and really delicious.

So I'm feeling very virtuous. I may need to treat myself to some chocolate later!

I hope everyone else has good weeks this week. I've had to be very strict with myself to get this far and it has in no way been easy - it's definitely feeling worth it now though.

GravityDefier · 29/02/2012 13:45

Ok so I actually had a soup and sandwich Blush

The soup was tomato and basil and the sandwich was ham, mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto. Can anyone help me estimate that? It was on a sort of baguette/french bread, maybe 20cm long.

GravityDefier · 29/02/2012 13:55

I found a similar baguette at pret a manger. It does have mayo instead of pesto but I guess I can maybe go by that? That would mean 15 points for the baguette alone :(

Would the soup have more than 5?

Blatherskite · 29/02/2012 14:53

Mayo is eggs, oil and mustard. Pesto is oil, basil and pinenuts. They're probably close points-wise

Blatherskite · 29/02/2012 14:56

I just checked on the tracker. Pesto is 2pp per tablespoon and mayo is 3pp so close.

A can of Heinz Cream of Tomato soup is 6pp per can. Was it a creamy soup? How much do you think you had?

GravityDefier · 29/02/2012 15:03

Ok then I think I am just going with the sandwich I found. 15 points, incredible! No wonder I am struggling with weight issues.

It was kinda creamy but homemade. I guess around the amount of a big tin maybe. Although... the bowl was quite big. So maybe I'll point it with 7 or 8. I guess I have to eat some of my weeklies today.

Thank you for your help :)

Blatherskite · 29/02/2012 15:48

Homemade tends to be worse if anything because they use fresh cream etc rather than the cheaper stuff in the tinned soup Sad 7 or 8 is probably a good guess.

GravityDefier · 29/02/2012 16:17

Oh no, I had no idea! I might actually use 9 or ten then. Just means less weekly points for the rest of the week. That will teach me not to go out for lunch again soon.

I am off to a trainings course later tonight and will be gone over dinner time. DP is making a homemade vegetable pasta sauce just now so I can eat a bit before I go and won't be starving and be tempted to buy something from the vending machine.
I really struggle being out over dinner or lunch, it's just so hard to not be tempted to buy something quick and filling!

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 29/02/2012 16:31

Hi all,

5inthebed If I only had 2-3 for breakfast I'd be hungry I think. I have 4 for breakfast - which is oat so simple with banana cooked in it with water, 1PP of greek yoghurt and fresh raspberries on the top plus 1PP of milk for the day but I think I need to start measuring that as I think I've been under-estimating Blush Then 5 for lunch - usually 1 poached egg on 2 hovis wheatgerm toast. Rest for dinner and snack in the evening.

Blathers Well done!!

Gravity Eating out is so hard I think as you don't know what you are getting size-wise....

Lozislovely Well done, 2 lbs off is 2lbs off :)

I've now got to have another operation (that'll be 3 in 6 months!) for a double prolapse which is probably due to constipation :( So ladies, if WW is making you constipated, make sure you deal with it quickly! I had other factors like medication and hereditary issues but I'm only 34 and 364 days :) :)

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 29/02/2012 16:32

That was meant to be :( :( !

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 29/02/2012 16:34

Loving Weight Watchers thick cream @ 1PP for 30g which gives you a good dollop on strawberries with splenda. Tastes just like the real thing :) Also jelly made with a tin of fruit salad and a good squirt of light aerosol cream for 1PP.

Can you see a pattern here Grin

5inthebed · 29/02/2012 17:02

15 pp for that yummy baguette seems great in comparison to my 11 PP for a small chargrilled chicken wrap from Greggs. Yep, 11 PP! Whats that all about? Thought maybe 7/8 PP at the most.

My 2 pp breakfast consists of 2 crackerbreads (1PP), marmite (0PP) and an individual tub of extra light philli (1PP). Also have some fruit with that. Surprisingly quite filling.

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 29/02/2012 18:32

Greggs is the enemy of Weight watchers 5 Grin

5inthebed · 29/02/2012 18:49

I may as well have had a cheese and onion pasty for 10pps! Would have enjoyed it more anyway.

Lozislovely · 29/02/2012 21:06

Well done everyone!! Grin

Ben10 - I've been a long time sufferer of IBSand whatever I try doesn't seem to right things. Once a week does not help the weight loss!!! Only way so far to counteract this is to eat broccoli and cauliflower every night, but the after affects are not much fun Wink

I normally do 3 points for brekkie - 2 slices of WW bread, toasted with marmite. Mid morning I have a fruit salad of melon, blueberries and kiwi. Lunch is a salad with as much 0 point stuff as possible, loads of water during the day and then I reward myself with a decent dinner (along with the occasional alcoholic beverage!).

If I could sort my IBS I reckon I could shift a bit more, but apart from trying everything under the sun to cure it, I'm still suffering.

DS had sausage and chips from the chippy tonight and I sneaked 2 chips, omg, I could have eaten the whole bloody lot but steered myself to a mostly edible WW ocean pie with loads of veg Sad

No pain, no gain Grin

Blatherskite · 02/03/2012 12:58

I have the new WW mag - off to pick some new recipes to try this week...

Blatherskite · 02/03/2012 13:04

Although Good Food magazine just arrived too which is always so tempting!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/03/2012 14:46

Does anyone have points for Wagamama? They don't seem to publish their breakdowns anywhere.

Blatherskite · 02/03/2012 14:53

Apparently Wagamama are really bad about posting nutritional info but there's supposed to be some help here

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/03/2012 18:19

Thank you!

GravityDefier · 03/03/2012 11:16

Ben 10, I am really sorry to hear you are not very well. I hope the operation goes well!

Baltherskite, are there nice recipes in the magazine? Are they usually quite complicated? I could do with some inspiration but am so busy at the moment dinners are usually something quick.

I am impressed with all of you managing on so few points for breakfast! Got a bit of inspiration and ordered some ryvita and light cold cuts yesterday to spice mine up a bit.

Going for another work related dinner on Monday- the night before my weigh in. I have been doing pretty well this week so far and don't want to ruin it in one go.

It's a small independent place so no points online, and their menu changes regularly. I hope what they got online is what they will offer on Monday. It's quite posh and I don't like a lot of the stuff they offer Blush

Here is the menu. I thought I could have the Boiled ham as a main but am not sure what else to go for. I assume the ham is not too high in points but potatoes and sauces might.
The cheese cake sounds amazing but I am not sure whether I can really go for it?

Any advise points wise for the menu?

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 03/03/2012 14:40

Thank you booked in for 26th March so not long to wait. Normally have no appetite in hospital - even though it's private and the food is not too bad - so might lose without trying.

I love both the WW mag and the Good Food mag although as on long term sick, I'm cheating and just using the GF website.

I went to Wahaca in Bluewater yesterday lunchtime as it was my birthday. No nutritional info. However there were loads of yummy looking salads etc. Of course I didn't choose my meal based on WW. I had the soft tacos and the black bean quesadillla. I think that HM quesadilla with WW tortilla wraps and low fat cheese with roasted veg in could be a great WW lunch for 5 PP alongside with some salad.

Grilled sea bream with mussel, chilli & coriander broth (gf) would be low points. I'd probably go for the ham though and try and judge the potatoes. Vanilla yoghurt mousse with roast rhubarb (gf) looks the best pointswise. I have to say it is a bit of a strange menu: Steak mince on dripping toast anyone?! Grin
