Can you believe we are starting our third year together? We always said we were in this for the long haul, well we weren't kidding!

So stay and enjoy success, the support and the lunacy. There will be ups and downs, but we will do this together.

I have 6 stone to loose and no idea where to start really as I am partially disabled and find exercise soooooooooo hard. I have found a free calorie counter site which has worked out the calories I use just breathing and stuff so I am sticking to that for now. It is also showing me what I am missing in my diet and what I have too much of so I am hoping that will help me adjust my eating.
My aim is to walk a mile every other day as thats my physical limit, walk up and down the stairs 5 extra times to my normal up and down and I have invested in a low resistance band to start some stretchy things but not figured that out yet.... Does that sounds anywhere near a good start?

smokinaces · 08/01/2012 09:51

Just a quickie as on phone, but 1.5lb off so broken the 11 stone barrier!! Now 10.13.5 :)

bebejones · 09/01/2012 07:47

On phone, so just being quick not ignoring people!!

5lbs off for me this week so that's the water weight gone (i.e. The easy bit!!) now the hard slog begins!! Target is less than it was before!

smokinaces · 09/01/2012 11:23

Well done bebe!! I'm on phone too, so can't update either!

Murtette · 09/01/2012 22:17

Well done to Bebe. Smokin & Smalline. What good starts to the NY. Partic well done to Smokin for breaking the 11st barrier. I dream of doing that!!

I made flapjack with DD yesterday. It was a Mary Berry recipe that I hadn't done before. They are soooo scrummy. A bit too scrummy really. And the reason they're so scrummy is the amount of fat & syrup v oats. Hmmm... shouldn't even write about them as now I want another.

smokinaces · 10/01/2012 17:52

Mmmmmmm murtette they sound gorgeous. Reckon I will sts this week, I just can't stay away from those chocolates left from Christmas. Only a couple a day, so won't affect loss as such but won't help me losing. Aren't in ketosis anyway now as slowly reintroducing fruits after three months but still doing ok.

prettybird · 10/01/2012 21:29

Well done everyone - and welcome to Fallenpetal.

I should have weighed in on Friday - I was 12stone 9lb, so 7lb put on over the festive period Blush. Am back in the Zone though - started Pilates classes again last night and started the Shred again today.

prettybird · 11/01/2012 17:54

Shredded again today and had a lovely meal of salmon on puy lentils last night. Dh even liked it and he's usually a bit sniffy about salmon. Am hopeful for a good loss this week. - it would be nice to get back to the "one stone" (or more!) loss in my stats.

smokinaces · 11/01/2012 18:35

oooh fingers crossed for this week Pretty

I'm doing better today. Stuck to my plan. I had reintroduced pepsi max and think that was my downfall - have stopped again and stuck to water and tea instead. Had mustard beef/turkey with peppered greens for tea, was lovely.

Popped into my old work yesterday and got loads of compliments on the weight loss which was ego boosting!

and then today I went quickly into town to hunt in the charity shops - have a big black tie ball thing next month and cant afford a brand new dress. Found an angelo thingy bridesmaid slinky long dress with straps in the window of one. Its a lovely purpley colour. Ran in at 3.55 (thye close at 4) and asked what size it was - its a M or a 12/14. Tried it on quick - and it fits!! Its really lovely, really flattering too. Its got spaghetti straps, and would look nicer with slightly thicker, but nothing I can do about that. And it was £10! Got a couple of small marks on it, but no one will notice. Am so chuffed, got another month yet so hoping to tone my top half up a bit more.

GettinTrimmer · 12/01/2012 09:20

Welcome Fallenpetal. you sound like you are on the right track to me Smile We have been going on this thread for 2 years now, and Piste, who you will meet later, coined the phrase "we're in it for the long haul!" Your exercise regime sounds a good one, it's best to start gradually.

Add yourself to the list!

I am not having a very good week and hoping for a sts.

Also I have just applied for a job as a Learning Support Assistant at the 6th form college where I am volunteering. Fingers crossed for an interview!

Well done bebe what a great start.

pretty Are you on level 2 of shred again?

smokin that dress sounds lovely, it sounds like you need a feather boa with it!

rebecklet · 12/01/2012 12:35

Hi - room for one more?

I am also in it for the long haul! Lost 4st in 2010 and put 2st back on in 2011. 2012 needs to be my year for achievement. We'd really like to have a family and it would just be too dangerous at this weight, so we are aiming for 2013.

I need to lose 6st 8lb to bring my BMI to under 30, which means I need to lose around 2lb each week, (I am currently 20st 4lb). I am working on portion control, no junk food and upping the level of exercise I do.

prettybird · 12/01/2012 16:32

Trimmer - no, I've started again on Level 1 and boy were my muscles feeling it yesterday. A bit better today though.

smokinaces · 12/01/2012 19:03

Ooooh Trimmer good luck with the application for the job!! I have a fake fur stole thing, which my mum reckons will look lovely with the dress, so going to try it out when she brings it over (she borrowed it for a cruise!)

Welcome redbecklet and fallenpetal! We're a fairly quiet but friendly group Grin

I need to start the Shred or my stepper again soon pretty. Dreading it tbh. May start next week as need to do 3 times a week to keep my weight down - I am NOT piling this back on again.

Weighing in tomorrow morning, 2 days early before heading to work and then Pistes and then out on the drink (ooops) Think it is a STS, and then will weigh in again next Sunday, so 9 days after.

prettybird · 13/01/2012 11:36

Trimmer - good luck with the job application :)

Smokin - the dress sounds lovely and I am sure you will look fab :)

Rebecklet - welcome. Baby steps and you'll get there :)

I am pleased to announce that I lost three pounds this week :), so I'm (back to) 12stone 6lb and I have managed to get back to the "one stone lost" statement again Grin

... and this was despite having half a bottle of bubbly and a glass and a half of red wine last night Blush

Rebecklet and Fallenpetal - add yourself to the list with your current and target weight, so that we can all track progress.

GettinTrimmer · 13/01/2012 13:37

Have fun Piste & smokin. You're going out on a do aren't you smokin? Remind us what you're wearing.

I wi today at sw Sad I can hardly bring myself to say, but I gained 2lb this week. Going to the local leisure centre this afternoon to sign up - I pay a bit less being a local government employee. My problem is lack of exercise because of my foot injury which I hope is better now so there's no excuse.

Welcome rebecklet. Stick with us and you'll get there. I sympathise with gaining 2 stone back again, I also need to crack maintenance. What exercise are you doing?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/01/2012 14:23

Sadly we are not going out together - I am out to a black tie do with DH and Nat is gallavanting, but tomorrow we will have time for brunch and compare hangovers Grin

OP posts:
prettybird · 13/01/2012 14:43

Sorry about that Trimmer - better luck next week. Maybe the shock of the scales this week will be the catalyst for getting in to the "Zone" :)

Piste - we need photos of you all dolled up for your posh do with your new super duper slinky body! Grin

rebecklet · 13/01/2012 15:17

GettinTrimmer Thanks, I feel you pain with the injury, I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder and it took so long to get fixed that all I was doing was my physio appointments so I'm surprised I didn't put more on to be honest! But now (touch wood) I am much better and I haven't had any shoulder pain for about 4 months so I think it is safe to get back to it. The safest bet is swimming, and treadmill for me but I love the classes, so I am going to try and build back up to including those. What are you going to be doing?

I've added myself to the list - fingers crossed for my first WI

Good luck with the application Trim x

I have no photos! My dress was v v dark brown so almost looked black, silk, from Reiss, spaghetti straps then v slinky, to just above my knee. But it was fffrrrizzzin last night, and there really isn't very much of that sort of dress, so coming home was a bit chilly Grin It was v lovely to do a posh do, even the children fell over laughing at DH in his black tie

I was 10:2 yesterday, I shall update the list, had to come out of ketosis, so am having brunch with Nat a bit later then will go back into it, it doesn't take me long at all.

If I can be arsed I shall go running later!

Thanks all for wishing me luck with job app Smile I am late applying for it, and the manager at the college said to just send her an e-mail telling her I'm interested and she'll dig out an application form that I've filled out before.

However, I am doing a course soon, have to do 6 hours per week voluntary work at the college alongside the study. Hope it will open doors for me even if this time I'm not lucky. I get on well with the people there, I enjoy it with the students so just depends if anybody super experienced has applied I suppose.

Smokin & piste enjoy your brunch.

reblecklet ouch about your shoulder. Good luck with the exercise, I have just walked to and from town with my ds (about a 4 miles round trip) and I've signed up at our local leisure centre and I am planning on doing aerobics on monday, Body Combat on Tuesday and something else on Thursday. I used to go running quite often but leaving it for a while as I don't want to hurt my foot again! What day do you wi? We mostly wi on a Friday but it's up to you. Bebe I think is doing Mondays.

pretty how's the shredding going?

prettybird · 14/01/2012 16:22

Piste - you'll just have to put the dress on and take a photo - either for here or fb.

Trimmer - the Shredding is going well - Day 4 of Level 1 yesterday. Don't tend to do it at weekends - but have just been for a c.6 mile bike ride with dh and ds. :) I'll probably do another 4 days before starting Level 2 (which I prefer not start after even a 2-day lay-off). Using 1kg weights for the Chair squats with arm raise, 2.5kg for the Circuit 2 exercises, 3kg for the Chest Flies and 1.5kg for the side lunges. I also use the 1.5kg weights for all the aerobic sections [smug emoticon] :)

smokinaces · 14/01/2012 21:30

Didnt update last week so doing it now. Was down to 10 13.5 last week. I was 10st 13 on my scales yesterday morning so will put down a 0.5lb loss. Had a fab night, with far too much wine and food and then brunch today with the lovely Piste. Grin Think I will spend the next week trying to get that back off to maintain next week!! I felt absolutely fab last night in my slim fit size 12 jeans and lace black top and was told several times in the evening how great I looked which was a very big ego boost - I could get used to it Grin

And thankyou to the lovely Piste again for your hospitality and chat and company this morning Grin

Forgot to mention, I noticed the other day that Jillian Michaels has brought out a similar dvd to 30 day shred, called 'ripped in 30' same format as the 30 days shred but 4 new workouts.
