So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

hi LFP and TSPSmile

yay for house news bee. fingers very crossed.

tedious dental appoinment and "bonus" xrays this morning DS2 and 3 were very good though. DS3 sat in the chair on his own and happily allowed the application of flouride varnish (or some such). Am awaiting good news on the DH finances front (as mine have run out in the wait for uncleared cheques and mysteriously late payments), then maybe we can have some fun. We were meant to be going to Whity for the rest of the day, but I couldn't face another skint day outSad. Need to go and buy an electric toothbrush apparently. And practice breathing techiques to combat my gag reflexesHmm

boys kicking off now, hoorah.

pixiestix · 04/01/2012 13:26

Post away Scarlett! We?ve been talking about all kinds of random stuff ? its not just lettuce and lentils round these parts y?know Wink Well done for the Christmas weight loss. I still have the best part of half a stone to lose to get me back to the beginning of Decembers weight. Angry

Bee that is such (tentative) fantastic news about the house! Even though nothing is confirmed I bet your mind must be racing towards sleep-filled nights and plenty of space.

Poor Lake - there is nothing worse than walking about in too tight trews! That?s why I?m a floaty dress kind of a gal ? you can expand or contract multiple sizes without having to buy a new wardrobe Grin Maybe the reason I ended up 5 stone overweight in the first place Confused

Mmm, lentil nappies Cheese. We had one of those at the weekend - combined with Christmas satsumas it looked like T had digested Tweety-Pie Confused

I?ve just had liver and bacon casserole for lunch. Its only made with a bit of onion, garlic, mushrooms, beef stock and Tabasco sauce but it tastes much too tasty to be diet food!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/01/2012 17:58

In A&E with Dd, she had blood in her nappy, they think it's a UTI. Sad she's well in herself so I'm not too worried.

Will post the list when I can

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/01/2012 17:59

Oh Cheese, I am sorry Sad what a strain.

Big un-MN wobble-armed hug/manly punch on the upper arm (your choice)

Hedgepig · 04/01/2012 19:58

Oh no cheese I'm sure she will be tickety boo in no time Fingers crossed.

bother the short one is out of bed, back soon

kid · 04/01/2012 20:00

cheese don't worry about the list, just get DD sorted. Hope its all okay and you are back home soon.

I did another recipe out of this months magazine. It was the honey glazed pork (or something like that) and it was really tasty. It was easy to make which is always a good thing in my book. I was really impressed that DC and DH all ate it too.

I need to check my meal planner to see what we are having tomorrow as I think I need to buy a few extra things. I think it might be beef stir fry and if it is, I have a stupid question.
My online shop was delivered and they substituted my quick fry beef for casserole beef. Would that be a big no no for the stir fry? I'm assuming it won't work, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Hedgepig · 04/01/2012 20:28

I imagine it will be tough as old boots kid if you try go stir fry it, it needs a couple if hours in a stew to make it soft. Why do supermarkets do such stupid substitutions?

kid · 04/01/2012 20:49

Maybe I'll just save it for a stew in the slow cooker and switch my meals around so I can do something else tomorrow night. I agree, it was a stupid substitution but I accepted it off them anyway.

They also missed out the stir fry vegetable so thats basically the whole meal out of the window!
I'm too tired to go and check what I can do instead, erm, maybe I'll do the thai green chicken curry? I haven't got any rice, maybe the recipe doesn't require rice?

Hedgepig · 04/01/2012 20:51

Chicken in a tomato sauce with pasta?

SlinkyB · 04/01/2012 21:02

Oh god cheese that sounds awful, poor dd Sad.

I survived my first day back, but what a long day. Have tea at PIL's every Weds, sonleft home at 07.40 and got back at 19.15. Think ds had fun at my sister's, but he doesn't get much sleep there so was over-tired and over-stimulated at bed time, so screamed and balled for almost half an hour whilst we dp tried to settle him Sad. Booked tomorrow off so we can chill out at home.

So I woke up this am with a sore throat, sore ears and a headache, which has only got worse as the day has gone on. Just made myself a cup of hot choc (Options) and will go straight to bed after OBEM. Been pretty good with my food today.

Sorry no energy to post more or comment on everyone's news, will try tomorrow.

happynewRia · 04/01/2012 21:06

thai curry with noodles? or the chicken with some other veg stir fried?

bollox. DS3 won't go to bed now. Mamma Mia is on. It's his favourite film ever. He is four. He is dancing. Must get him pink flares and platform shoes.

hope the A&E was ok and DD is well cheese.

singing now. one of our no-DC friends once said our boys were fabulously camp. I feel she may have been right!

kid · 04/01/2012 21:06

well done on surviving the day slinky, the first day is always the worst so now that's out of the way, it will be plain sailing from now on.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/01/2012 21:38

Am Grin Grin At your DS and MammaMia, Ria!

Yes well done Slink. Hope you fight off the dreaded lurgy....

I've worked out I have 6 weeks until my holiday (assuming it works out). i can lose 2 stone by then yes yes?!

Thinking of you Cheese - hope the little one is doing OK

grinningbee · 04/01/2012 21:41

Hope dd is ok Cheese. Sounds a bit scary (hugs).

Well done on the first day back Slinky Smile and hope you feel better soon.

Back later. H has fallen asleep on my legs and they hurt.... going to poke him.

We are home. Blimey! Changed DD nappy as it was wet, saw 2 tsps of dark blood. Took her to A&E, they think it's thrush and a possible urine infec. I have to admit, I have never seen thrush cause bloody discharge but I will see how she goes and try out the cream. Poor thing is exhausted, completely over stimulated but won't go down. I've given up now and we are both curled up on the sofa waiting for Dh to get home from work.

Would anyone mind if I do the list first thing tomorrow?

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/01/2012 22:21

Kid - have you got a cauliflower? If so, you can use that instead of rice. Just grate it finely (I use a food processor) until it looks like rice, then put it in a covered microwave pot (don't add water) and cook on high for 5 mins. Is a great way to add superfree and keep cals/carbs low.

grinningbee · 04/01/2012 22:31

Course not Cheese you dafty. Glad all is ok, and hope she's not uncomfortable. Careful not to get broody with what you're watching though!!

I held a 20 day old on Monday... she'd spent a week in hosp with bronchialitus (sp? sorry!) and a collapsed lung poor sausage, but is much better now. She seemed soooooo tiny. Need some dress advice from you all soon as it's her I've been asked to be Godmother for! Really must find out when it is...

Wish I had some wine...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/01/2012 22:48

Thanks bee

Dd is still up what sort of dress are you thinking?

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/01/2012 22:52

Oh Cheese, amaze that are you even thinking of listness, you must be shattered. Hope she sleeps well and has nowt sinister in the nappy department in the morning.

Hedgepig · 04/01/2012 22:55

For heavens sake don't worry about the list cheese have a good cuddle with DD and scoff chocolate if you need to, I'm pleased you are home.
The wind is keeping both of the boys awakes tonight, DS1 is going to be totally exhausted at school tomorrow

grinningbee · 04/01/2012 23:05

Dd is having nightmares here - think it's the wind noise disturbing her Sad.

No idea on the dress. One that magically sucks 6 inches off of my tummy would be good though!

OP posts:
kid · 04/01/2012 23:11

Glad you and DD are home cheese
Hope you both have a restful night and that the cream helps her.

The wind is howling here, I thought the worst of it would be over by now. If its not the wind making the noise, its the bloody car alarms it keeps setting off. I assume its not my alarm, I'm not going out to check!

I've sorted dinner for tomorrow. I'm going to do cheesy tuna bake. I think thats what its called anyway, I never pay full attention to the name of the meals but its also in this months mag. I just need to pick up a few things on the way home from work otherwise I'll have to rethink that again.

I was so close to ordering a takeaway tonight as I was really late with starting dinner. Luckily DH came home and started to prepare the meal (I shoved the magazine under his nose on the page with the recipe) and by the time I had finished the call, I didn't have much more to do.

Omelette for breakfast tomorrow, hope its not to smelly first thing in the morning.

I have instructed DH to bring home new scales tomorrow. All scales weigh you slightly differently don't they? I know someone that weighs themself 3 times and takes the lightest of the 3 weights as their actual weight!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/01/2012 23:13

Have you got dome spanx? They will get rid of a couple of inches?!Wink

Thanks hedge and tsp, DD is now asleep and I'm curled up on the sofa with a large sauv blanc. Avoided chocolate so far!

grinningbee · 04/01/2012 23:26

Glad she's dropped off now. Hope you can relax now and get some kip too!

Nighty night all.
