So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Let us know what it is like.

debka · 12/01/2012 19:16

Made cracking meatballs for tea, with pasta, yum yum. DC's scoffed it down too which is always nice! Made rocky road this afternoon for DH though Angry and may have licked the spoon and the bowl and eaten 2 marshmallows too No more syns for me tonight.

I long to go out without DCs or even self employed DH. Perhaps that's why I enjoy my running so much, because I go on my own.

LaFilleSurLePont · 12/01/2012 19:23

I had my my first class today. I joined last Thursday, started the diet last Friday. I've lost 3 1/2 lbs, which I'm very happy with as I didn't expect to lose anything, for some reason.

I didn't have breakfast. I can't bear to look at food before 11/11:30. I've been trying to force myself to eat fruit in the mornings, but I discussed it with the class leader today and I don't have to eat breakfast, which is a big relief.

I had a recipe from the BBC Good food magazine today for lunch. Mango chicken salad. It was lovely.

Dinner was the sticky chicken, though I added some five spice powder, with a vegetable stirfry.Beansprouts in place of noodles. I enjoyed it.

Will have the rest of the mango chunks later with grapes and kiwi.

pixiestix · 12/01/2012 19:25

Just me on the naughty step this week then? Grin

6lbs Cheese?? Shock Well done! Thats fantastic.
Thanks for the Sainsbos gammon tip - I got a biggun!

My indulgence when I get a morning to myself is a big fry up and about 9 million cups of builders tea in a cafe. Its happened twice so far since we moved back in August and both times was bliss!!

Huffpot · 12/01/2012 19:30

Oh I would love just to curl up in a big cushy armchair with a disgustingly large mug of disgustingly fatty hot chocolate with a good book for a few hours on my own with no-one else in the house....

Time on your own when you're a mum is a precious and rare thing

Cheeseandbiscuits · 12/01/2012 19:52

Oooh I would kill for one of my Terry's Choc Oranges right now. I'm shattered, dd refused to nap today and so was a right grump. She's asleep now so it's an evening of crap TV, sugar free squash and fruit for me Grin

Hedgepig · 12/01/2012 20:46

Mmmmm Terry's Chocolate orange I love those things. DH is whipping up a stir fry and I'm wibbling the web . Need to buy a new I've as ours only has the inner door (the outer one shattered) and the grill has packed up. I was hoping to elk it out til the extension is built and I have a new kitchen but I can't last a year with out a grill so I'm off to find the cheapest one I can find.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 12/01/2012 21:15

I settled for an apple, not quite the same but it did the job! I knew it was just boredom pulling me towards choc so I am now upstairs sorting out DD photos!

Thats a pain hedge, found anything?

Which meatballs did you do debka? The roasted veg sauce ones are delicious!

pixiestix · 12/01/2012 21:47

HOLY SHIT! Sorry to be totally random but for all the original Doomers - do you remember that Fishandlilacs got her BFP on one of our first threads? I've just read that she is now overdue at 40+1 Shock How the flaming hell did that zip by so fast?? And surely I could have gotten thin in the time it has taken her to make a whole human being??

Cheeseandbiscuits · 12/01/2012 21:51

Really? Blimey time flies!!! Jeez, I should be dangerously slim by now.

FriendofDorothy · 12/01/2012 21:53

I dream of a BFP!

SlinkyB · 12/01/2012 22:00

Bloody well done everyone! Especially List-Topper and DoD Administrator Extraordinaire cheese! Almost half a stone in a week is fantastic.

bee So so very sorry about M Sad. Will join you on other fred.

debka What you doing for DD2's 1st birthday? How old is DD1?

hedge did you miss the word 'cooker' out of your last post?! Sounds a right pita, extension sounds good though.

Not been too bad on diet, but lots of little sweet treats in my office which I'm crap at resisting. Finished my third day in a row today, and missed ds loads. Three day weekend now, woo hoo.

Went to zumba tonight and really enjoyed it. Need to start going to the free gym at work too, but want to spend every spare minute I have with ds at mo this too shall pass Grin. Putting application for p/t in on Mon, wish me luck.

p.s pixie C'mon love, you can get off the naughty step now!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 12/01/2012 22:04

THanks slinks. How is back to work going? Collegues stills bia-tchy?

Friendofdorothy there are a few others on here dreaming of a BFP. Do you have kids?

FriendofDorothy · 12/01/2012 22:06

No children. TTC my first and failing miserably at it :(

Cheeseandbiscuits · 12/01/2012 22:13

Oh matey. Sorry, no real words of advice. It must suck. I am sure one of the other ladies in a similar position will pipe up with something helpful. Since we started this list, we have had 2 BFP but hoping its time for a 3rd!

kid · 12/01/2012 22:25

The last time I did SW sucessfully and lost close to 2 stone, I got a BFP. He is now 9 years old and I am still carrying some of the excess weight. I do hope those TTC get some good news soon. New year, new baby perhaps?

I went back to the gym tonight for the first time in many weeks. I don't think I've been since end of November! They have extended the class to an hour which I was a bit worried about but it was fine. Its only an extra 15 minutes that usual and I hardly noticed the extra tbh. I was probably dying after the first 15 minutes!

The sweet and sour pork was quite nice. Not that much juice but not too dry either. I think I'd prefer it with chicken instead of pork. DS ate all of it, DD spent more time talking about it and only actually ate half. She didn't touch the noodles at all. I blame the fact that she snacks between finishing school and dinner so thats going to stop from now on.

I got the recipe for the sweet & sour pork online. I just did a google search for it and it was the first one that popped up.

Hedgepig · 12/01/2012 22:41

Yes I missed oven off that post, got distracted with looking at tents! Not much use for cooking dinner but more interesting (I can not believe I'm even contemplating going camping, must be the lack of sugar).
Here's to hoping for a BFP for you soon Dorothy
I'm starving must go to bed before I hit the biscuit tin

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/01/2012 23:53

Quick log of food diary as v late again.

B wholewheat spaghetti, pear
L butternut squash and lentil salad
D beef and bean hotpot bake (1 syn), runner beans, broccoli, white cabbage

grinningbee · 13/01/2012 07:58

Morning all!

Slinky Good luck for handing in the application on Monday - hope you get what you want.

Dorothy Good luck with the TTC. IT's rotten when it takes a while Sad

Hedge Boo to the oven breaking! Hope you managed successful biscuit avoidance Wink

Cheese I have 2 choc oranges in the cupboard... they look at me every time I open it!

Well done to all those returning to the gym/classes too.

I made the cheese and onion pie from the new mag yesterday (page 75 I think). One pot dish my arse!! Anyway, I'll let you find that bit out for yourselves Wink.

It tasted ok, nothing special, and to me it seemed a little bit dry. I shall make it again, but will be adding some garlic, some halved baby plum tomatoes for a bit of moisture, and maybe will swap the cottage cheese for fromage frais, but we'll see. If it's still meh after that go I shan't bother again.

If anyone wants it, I'll bung the original recipe up on the other fred. Just ask.

Food for the day:

Ready brek, 1 ryvita with 1 tsp marmalade, banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Another new recipe tonight - beef and pepper stew, veggies

Morning. Had a rough night with DD but DH got up with her so I've had a long lie in. I've got my entire family descending on me this weekend, which will be great fun but hard work at the same time.

Any news on your pal bee?
slink hope pt app goes ok

Food for today:
B: fruit and yog
L: out and about with friends, will try and get something SW friendly
D: butter chicken, rice and veggies
Exercise 3 mile walk

Have a good day everyone!

grinningbee · 13/01/2012 09:27

Sorry for the rough night, but yay for a lie in!

You've just reminded me, the butter chicken recipe was really nice. Might have to dig that out for next week.

I'll update on the other thread, but she's still in. Can't see her coming home anytime soon.

Eeeek to having a house full! You're mad WinkGrin

SlinkyB · 13/01/2012 09:55

After that 'glowing' review on the pie bee I think you can keep that recipe to yourself. Unless you lose 7lbs this week, then we'll all want it.

Sorry to bear you're having a long wait ttc Dorothy maybe starting SW will be a food luck charm, like it has been for others. You'll get to within a few lbs of reaching target and BOOM! Well, I'll have my fingers crossed for you anyway.

CSWS You eat spaghetti for breakfast? At what time? Not sure I'd fancy it first thing tbh, but each to their own Smile

Work's been ok ta cheese. forgot how much I actually enjoy my job. Have become more philosophical this past year too, so rather than thinking of my cliquey bosses as Bitches, I'm going to try and ignore them embrace their differences! It's only really one out of three that's particularly difficult, as she doesn't speak to me, about anything, ever. So makes the office atmos a bit tense imo. I tried to make an effort for 18 months and got nowhere, so hey ho. I guess I'm not her cup of tea, and as my wise Dad always says 'you can't like everyone in life'.

So glad I've got today off to relax and be a Mummy again! Off to a friend's for lunch, but she tends to eat healthily so should be ok. Curry and movie with the boyfriend tonight Grin.

kid are you aching today?! Well done on your hour's gym session.

ria thinking of ya, hope the black dog has gone into indefinite kennels and work was ok yesterday.

SlinkyB · 13/01/2012 09:55

SlinkyB · 13/01/2012 10:03
