So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

I wondered if anyone would notice slinky Grin. I don't like using my HE for breakfast, but doing bacon and eggs etc takes more time than I have. I love spaghetti and it's free food, so it seems the logical choice for me!

debka · 13/01/2012 15:19

cantsleep I'd been wondering the same thing! Do you eat it cold? cos cooking spaghettii takes way longer than cooking bacon and eggs...

slinky DD1 will be three in March. Not sure what we'll do for DD2, probably have the family round for cake.

cheese it's a SW adapted Good Housekeeping recipe, you bake massive meatballs in a tomato sauce, tis yum. Your Nanny is RUDE, can't believe she said that!!

B- bacon and egg, pear

L- leftover meatballs and pasta, a satsuma

D- gammon, mashed potatoes, carrots and spring greens

I'll have 2 weetabix when I get in from my run tonight.

FriendofDorothy · 13/01/2012 15:53

I hope I won't have to wait until I hit target before I conceive - I reckon I need to lose 5 stone. I have been doing SW a year, and lost a couple of stone last year.

It just gets tiring hoping all the time!

debka · 13/01/2012 16:04

How long have you been TTC dorothy? My sis is 16wks pg now after 2 yrs trying- finally conceived after 9 (I think) rounds of Clomid. They had their appointment for IVF lined up when she fell pg. Might be worth seeing the dr if it's been a while, there's lots they can do to help.

I didn't find that my weight made any difference, I have PCOS and was about the weight I am now (prob 10 st overweight) when I conceived both girls. I know I've been very very lucky though.

FriendofDorothy · 13/01/2012 17:13

Have been trying for 17 months. I live in Guernsey so we have to wait to see the specialist and it is taking forever :(

debka · 13/01/2012 17:21

That sucks dorothy :( I'm sorry :(

Sending fertile vibes your way :)

kid · 13/01/2012 18:50

I wasn't aching this morning but as the day went on, the aches got stronger. I am really glad I went though and I hope to get back into the routine.

I'm guessing that the fact I went gym last night, that justifies an Indian take away tonight, right? Somebody at the door, I smell dinner Smile

Cheeseandbiscuits · 13/01/2012 19:28

I'm pissed off, all my family are here. I'm cooking and not drinking wine and they are sat in the lounge drinking wine Sad I hate dieting.

dorothy, that sounds crap.

kid · 13/01/2012 19:41

dorothy, I do hope you get to see the specialist soon. The disappointment each month is hard to bear.
It took about 5 months for me with DS and they seemed forever.

cheese, I hope they all go home soon and take the pesky wine with them.

I've got a long weekend ahead. We are taking DC and 6 other kids bowling tomorrow and then we are going out for a meal family on Sunday. I think I'll use lots of flexi syns for the weekend and cram in an extra gym session to try and make up for it.

We got some really bad news regarding a relative today. We knew he had terminal cancer but we found out how long he has. Its not good and I don't know what to say or do. Its DH's family but they might as well be mine as we've been together for close to 20 years. Its a horrible situation and I know others are going through the same and much worse. I don't really know what to say or do to people so will just see what happens and work it out as I go along.

SlinkyB · 13/01/2012 19:42

That does sound tiring dorothy Sending happy, fertile thoughts your way too. Hope the appt to see the specialist comes soon.

I had bad news this pm, my best friend has miscarried again Sad. It's a missed one, had a private scan today which confirmed she's about 8wks, but heart prob stopped a couple of weeks ago. She made it to 6wks this time last year, poor woman (and her husband) are desperate for a baby. So unfair.

Dp and I almost succumbed to a bottle of wine tonight, but we're sticking to our guns and not drinking in January...does totally suck though! It would piss me off if a room full of people were drinking in my house, too cheese!

debka · 13/01/2012 20:08

O gosh what a lot of sad news. So sorry to hear about your relative kid and your friend slinky. :( So, so unfair :(

Just got in from week 3 run 2 and about to have some weetabix that I was thinking about the entire time I was out Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 13/01/2012 20:56

Well done debka, hope you enjoyed your run!
The butter chicken was delicious. Had a bit of Naan and a veg pakora, oh well. No booze yet!

kid · 13/01/2012 21:01

hmmm, booze. I have the choice of beer, yuk, or red wine, yuk yuk. Or, I could go over the road to Tesco, brrrrr, too cold. Diet coke it is then. Maybe I'll treat myself to some hot chocolate later.

Riapwhatyousow · 13/01/2012 22:15

evening all.

so sorry for your friend slinky, and your relative kidSad I haven't read your other thread bee, but thinking of you too x

sending vibes your way too dorothy. I have been very very lucky with TTC, DS3 was a "surprise" (brought about from watching H from steps in Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat whilst on antibiotics, and a bit of input on DHs part tooWink), I did have early bleeding with all 3 though, and AND each time, so it came with it's own problems. Hope you get to see your specialist soon.

going back to work has been OK thanks, could be better, but I've done it. I applied for a new job on Wednesday. Done a lot of walking in the last couple of days too, and that helps me feel better.

Had a tiny little slip-up tonight. DS2s friend came over, and DH made pizzas with them. I can't resist pizzaBlush and I licked the chocolate ganache bowl

took DS1 to the occupational therapist today. It would have been a hell of a lot easier if we'd been doing these tests when he was 6 or 7. His attitude stinks sometimes.

Riapwhatyousow · 13/01/2012 22:19

CSWS - how do you serve your breakfast spaghetti? I had noticed but I assumed it was canned spaghetti. I have been known to have brown rice "pudding" with a HEA milk as a free food breakfast on green, and it can be made in a batch and microwaved as needed. I think I used rice milk the first time. When I was a kid my mum used to make macaroni cooked in milk as a dessert. I wonder if that would work?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/01/2012 08:35

Don't worry about the pizza ria today is a new day.

Hope that blasted appointment comes through dorothy

I was pretty good yesterday. Dd was up 1/2 the night, she always does this when DH is on night shifts.so today will be a long day!
B: ff yog and fruit
L: not sure, prob a pub lunch. Wil try to pick something friendly
D: cassoulet from the Xmas SW mag! Will make the Garlic Bread too so that will be my HEB.

I'm aiming for a long walk along the river today. Only thing is that it's bloody freezing, maybe too cold for DD to be out all day. Hmmm

Riapwhatyousow · 14/01/2012 10:25

morning cheese.

DS3 is going to a party here, but it's right at the other end of a village at the top of a huge hill, so if we walk that's my exerise for today, and maybe some Wii-ing tonight.

DH is cooking pancakes for the boys

midori1999 · 14/01/2012 14:19

Sorry, I can't keep up very well! Blush

Well done on the losses everyone, brilliant!!!

Pancakes... yum! :IdontwantpancakesIdontwantpancakesIdontwantpancakes:

I have been trying to walk everywhere I can and not use the car, although I already walk a lot as we have 4 dogs. A woman was attacked last week where I sometimes walk the dogs and the attacker not found yet, so I have to admit, that puts me off dog walking there alone for now. 1 of my dogs might attempt to defend me (in fact, I suspect if anyone ran towards me it would be enough to set him off) but I have to walk them seperately and the other 3 would just lick anyone to death. Flipping retrievers... Hmm

Anyway, I avoided a curry buffet entirely at something I went to the other night and have stuck to the plan, so hopefully have lost by Tuesday. I won't list my menus, but we did have something nice last night. Chicken breasts filled with garlic and quark and wrapped in bacon. Nothing fancy, but delicious and filling.

Going food shopping shortly and going to get ingredients for some sort of syn free soup (thinking sweetcorn and sweet potato) and the spinach canneloni in the SW mag.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 14/01/2012 14:28

I haven't been on so long you weren't in my active convos! Blush

i have been having the most bizarre internet troubles, which has meant I could only get on for the odd 5 minutes over the last few days.

Anyway (sorry that was very dull) - trying to be angelically good ready for the DoD on Wed. Have been bride-dress shopping (not mine!) with the other bridesmaids and standing in a mirrored room with loads of lissome long-legged girls didn't have give me an incentive to be strict Shock

Off to read the thread.

Today's food meanwhile:

Breakfast: cava at the dress fittings
Lunch: veg and prawn stir-dry
Supper: Vietnamese chicken and mint salad, couple of squares of dark choc, coffee

TheScarlettPimpernel · 14/01/2012 14:29

didn't HALF, i mean.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 14/01/2012 14:33

Dorothy I'm sorry about the long TTCing. It's tough. We've just hit 2 years. Much sympathy and understanding this end, old thing x

And Kid and Slinky I'm sorry too about your sad news. Gah, it's been a crap year so far, hasn't it Sad

kid · 14/01/2012 18:22

Dd's party was a success today, round 2 tomorrow with a family get together.
Sw out the window this weekend but I'll be squeezing in 2 more gym sessions before DoD so I'm hoping I can limit the damage. It's not everyday your dd becomes a teenager so I'm celebrating with her.

Back on plan Monday with 100% commitment.

Riapwhatyousow · 14/01/2012 19:00

happy birthday to your DD kidSmile ENJOY!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2012 20:16

Dorothy - it took me 3.5yrs to conceive the first time. I joined sw just after I miscarried it and lost a load of weight and managed to conceive dd in 7 months. It took me 14 months to conceive ds1. Ds2 was unplanned and conceived the first time that Dh and I finally got around to having sex after ds1! So don't give up hope!

Ria - I have the spaghetti plain or with a tsp of butter. Blush

Had lunch with the inlaws today. Mil reckoned she'd made her meatballs with extra lean mince, but from the massive layer of fat floating on the top of the sauce they were cooked in I can be pretty sure she lied, so goodness knows how many syns were in them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2012 20:20

Ah just looked up the butter and only 2 syns per tsp, so not as bad as I'd feared.
