So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

If you go to group weigh in on a Monday what weight do you use on here, should I use this mon or next?

midori1999 · 10/01/2012 23:48

Goodness! I am going to have to check in more often, it's busy in here! Shock

Huff that all sounds very difficult, I can't imagine my MIL, let alone when she is 85, living with me at all!

TSP I hope it went well with your friend. Or as well as it could do anyway.

Debka, don't be disheartened, 7lb last week and 2lb this week is 4 1/2lb a week on average, that's loads!!!! (although, having been there myself, I know it's deflating)

Well, I decided to join a local SW group this evening. It was awful tbh. I went with a friend and I had to try not to giggle at a few 'Marjorie Daws' moments, inlcuding when a memeber asked why they could have fruit as whole fruit, but not the same fruit in a smoothie. The leader just said 'we don't go there! it's fresh or frozen fruit you can have' and when the member sort of asked again, the leader just kept repeating 'fresh or frozen, fresh or frozen'. Confused She seemed to really be pushing EE too, is this something SW are doing as a whole, or is it specific to this leader? She also didn't speak to any of the new members individually and didn't say/ask anything about me breastfeeding at all, although I had to tick the box on the form. Hopefully I caught her on a bad night, I'm going to go back next week as it's the only group I can get to really.

I feel like I've eaten loads today! Hopefully I haven't worked it out wrong. I'll use my food diary this week to keep track better. Today I had:

Breakfast: Ikea thing of prawns and egg on rye with a bit of salad.

snack: apple and pear

Lunch: sainsburys chicken salad 'good for you' (or whatever it is!) sandwich, snack bag of grapes

Snack: 3 chicken drumsticks, no skin

Dinner: Gammon steak and veg

Snacks: half a honeydew melon, mullerlight and hifi bar.

I'm still hungry now, goodness knows how! I don't feel like eating jumk though, which is good! Going to have a big glass of water and go to bed when I have made the children's lunches and tidied up a bit.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/01/2012 23:51

Mrs wt - you won't be able to use next Mon's weight to post on this week's DoD, unless you have a crystal ball Grin, so either the one from yesterday, or weigh in yourself at home on a Wedns morning (not everyone on the thread goes to a class, so they weigh at home on wedns morn naked and after a crap Wink).
My class is a tues night so I obv just use the results from that.

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/01/2012 00:06

midori - i started writing a critque of your food diary, but then realised that you were obv having a red day rather than an EE, and did cheese say that you could have an extra b HE for bf'ing? (where did you find the current info on this btw cheese?) So your HEs are the 2 slices of bread in your lunchtime sandwich (2 x HEb) and the hi fi bar (1x HEb)? So you are synning any butter/mayo/dressing in your sandwich, and the rye bread and any dressing on your breakfast? And you haven't had any HEas - are you dairy free?
Hope your leader is better next week.

midori1999 · 11/01/2012 00:57

cantsleep, yes, cheese did say a HE for BF.

The rye bread was tiny, I counted it as 5 syns (although when I had it I thought it might be a HExB) I scraped the dressing off. Sort of. Blush then I counted the bread from lunchtime sandwich as a HExB and counted the sandwich as 12 syns, which is a guestimate, but based on what a tesco healthy living sandwich used to be. Then the hifi as a HExB. I use one HExA as milk in coffee and if I have the other it's usually a portion of cheese, but didn't today.

I'm being a bit slack really, which I know!!! I get lazy as I've done it on and off for so long I think I know what to eat etc. but it changes and I obviously don't know. (rye bread!) so I'll kick myself up the bum in the morning!

Now sleeping on the sofa with sorry for herself dog who was spayed today. One of the other dogs was annoying her a lot and I want to keep an eye on her. I'm sure the baby will wake soon, so I'll have to hot foot it upstairs then. Hopefully she only wakes once tonight. Or by some miracle sleeps through... Hahahahaha....

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/01/2012 07:37

I got the HE advice from the sw website. csws.
midori that looks great but watch those pesky shop sarnies. They are full of crap!
Hope last night was ok tsp

Tonight is our Sainsburya delivery so no nice food in the house until between 5-6!

B: fruit and yog
L: jp, beans and salad
D: spag Bol.
HEA: milk for coffee, heb: cereal or toast as a snack later

LakeFlyPie · 11/01/2012 08:00

Morning all Smile

Wow this thread is fast moving, can't believe another week has whizzed by.

Off to work but just checking in to say haven't forgotten DOD, will try and catch up properly later.

grinningbee · 11/01/2012 08:20

Morning lovelies!

TSP Hope last night went ok Smile

My food for the day will be something like this:

Ready brek, 1 ryvita and marmalade and a banana (once dd is at playgroup)
Cheese triangles on toast, apple, 2 clementines and a yogurt
Left over sweet chilli chicken and roasted veggies

I absolutely must not scoff 3 bananas today like I did yesterday. I really had the munchies!

H is going to pick friend up from hospital later (her own dh is at work again - major denial). Hopefully me and the dc are going over to see her this afternoon, but I'm going to need to seriously hold my emotions in check. They found cancer in a third place (bowel), and she hasn't been given a good prognosis. 6 - 9 months apparently Sad.

So, that's where we are. Hey ho. Still trying to be positive though!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/01/2012 08:38

Oh bee, that's awful. Sounds like her DH will need a lot of support, I hope the Macmillan nurses are involved to help out

Huffpot · 11/01/2012 09:31

Oh Bee I feel like crying for you all :-(

Thanks for all the sympathy - I don't know how I do it somedays either but figure I'm earning my place up stairs!
I saw her yesterday for a bit but apparently she's still never coming home
I think she's waiting fir DP to order her back which I'm sure he'll do eventually so will enjoy my peace while I have it!

Wow this thread is going really quickly! At this rate I need them to hurry up and create the android app!

Weigh in tonight and praying I've cracked my first stone and maybe a little more!!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/01/2012 09:37

I'll wait for you before publishing the list huffpot!
Good result for me today, finally! It just shows what sticking to plan mostly can do!

grinningbee · 11/01/2012 09:56

Yay Cheese! And good luck for that first stone sticker Huffpot. I think you deserve a very big shiny medal for having MIL live with you at all . Going on holiday with mine is trial enough Grin.

Next time I say I'm making lentil pie, could someone please stop me from adding the big handful of red lentils as well? Yesterday was sooooo much fun Wink. Might try a different version next time, maybe with beans instead of lentils.

Oh, and I had a look at the latest SW mag the other night for the story on the chap who lost 12.5 stone. I agree with you Cheese. Mind you, it'd be cradle snatching for me!

OP posts:
happynewRia · 11/01/2012 10:07

mmm, I read about him last night tooWink

I had lost the threadShock luckily it's on most active so I've found you again.

By way of not acually trying, I don't deserve the honour of the DoD list, but according to the Wii, I have gained 2lb, but I am dressed rather than PJs (though I did change the weight of clothes bit) and it weighed me before I put the remote down. DH claims the remotes weigh about 1lb! Either way, I'm not to fussed, if I don't try I can't expect results. Lots of time to plan today as I am still off work and am waiting around for a plumber, so won't be moving far from the sofa (though I may study later).

DH has gone off to a meeting about a possible job. Not sure if it is a fingers crossed scenario or not.

sorry about your friend beeSad stay strong.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 11/01/2012 10:33

Morning all, speshuly new joiners and re-joiners....may your thighs be slender and your waists lissome! MrsWooden sorry about your hip troubles: there always seems to be something getting in the way, doesn't there?

Bee, I don't know what to say Sad That is the saddest, most terrible news. You sound as though you are so helpful and encouraging for her.

well my weigh in was encouraging, so am glad 'bout that. You always need hope after the first week to keep you on the strait and narrow, har har.

thanks so much to you all for being so nice about my pal. She really is an amazing person, just an absolute brick, and I think enjoyed just having a relaxed hanging-out type night.

Kid hurrah for fellow East Londoners! 'Tis the coolest place to be and I'll brook no argument

Midori am ROARING at your description of SW class Grin Grin It's funny, they can vary so much depending on who is the leader. When I did really really well on SW I'm sure it was because it was a brisk, no-nonsense drop-in class in the city, so there was no hanging around or anything, and the leader was this sharp-suited city-type who just didn't go in for hand-patting or applause or Marj Dawes stuff. The two other time s I tried I just couldn't get excited about it and concluded I'd be better off with you 'orrible lot Grin

Huff when you get upstairs kindly save me a seat. And fingers crossed for your stone, and fingers also crossed for your DH's job Ria

Phew! Sorry if I've missed anything important!

Hedgepig · 11/01/2012 11:32

Why oh wht do I keep raiding the biscuit tin at 10 o'clock at night!!

modori sounds just like my SW group Hmm I just go in and get weighed and work the rest out myself, I just need the weight of the weigh in hanging over me to kick me up the bum

FriendofDorothy · 11/01/2012 11:42

I have gained about 8lbs since christmas and have only been back on plan since Monday, but I have managed to lose 1lb. That'll do to start with I guess!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 11/01/2012 12:00

1lb in about 48 hours is seriously impressive!

Huffpot · 11/01/2012 13:28

Im a north west Londoner...does that count as anything? (I'm foreign so be gentle)
I'll save seats -makes note to take extra handbags and coats for reservation purposes!

Lol I go to a group and its worth it for the amusement factor and really makes you feel normal sometimes. Our consultant is nice but does burst into tears ocassionally

TSP AND Bee I think you both must be amazing friends

pixiestix · 11/01/2012 13:35

Fucking internet connection keeps breaking so I'm just going to post the message I wrote this morning even though its probably totally irrelevant now! Angry

Oh Bee what wretched news Sad I know anecdotal evidence doesn?t really help but when my step-dad was given 6 months to live he went on to live a very full and very rich two years. I hope your friend can enjoy the rest of her time.

Thanks for posting your food for the week guys. It all sounds amazing. I?m going to have a good root around in the recipe thread over the next couple of days. I have stalled with ideas and shopping and am mainly subsisting on ravioli on toast Blush I?m just so so tired I can?t seem to function this week.

Awwww at DD in pyjamas Cheese! Grin I still haven?t moved T over to pjs at 15 months Blush She just seems so snug and warm ?and babyish?in babygros.
Well done on this weeks results ? it was that Colonic Pie, I bet! Grin

Hope you got a bit more sleep last night Hedge.

Did you make it in to work today Ria? It is the first step in beating the Black Dog. Hope you are feeling ok.

How are things with your MIL Huffers? Is she back in residence? You sound like a saint for putting up with her TBH. My mother in law is vile - I couldn?t have her to visit let alone live with me.

?Fresh or frozen, fresh or frozen!? made me giggle Midori. Grin My old SW instructor who was very on the ball pushed EE as well. My new instructor who is complete crap is very old skool and barely understands it. Confused

Sleep deprivation continues here. I?m supposed to be going to a party tomorrow night but I?m seriously thinking of cancelling ? the thought of getting home a bit pissed and then staying up for another three hours with a whinging DD is miserable.

Now going to try and read all the messages written since I wrote that!

FriendofDorothy · 11/01/2012 14:16

I really miss attending a group. My old consultant was absolutely hilarious although the grouop definitely reminded me of Little Britain every now and then, especially the clapping....

Consultant... 'oh well done FriendofDorothy, that's a lovely overall loss of 1 stone with just a small gain this week'...

I do miss group!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/01/2012 14:34

Right my period is 5 days late. I have just tested and its neg. Hmmm. Not sure what to think. Its prob for the best and we def are not TTC so there we are then.

Just eaten a minging omelette too. Yuk.

Pixie URgh. Sorry about the ongoing lack of sleep - I don't blame you about the party. I can't drink / go out when DD is having a bad patch, it just isn't worth it.

midori Your group sounds hilarious! The leader sounded crap too. I don't go to group as I disrupt sit laughing in the back row. I always feel like I am back at school and it puts me right off.

Your old group sounded fun dorothy And 1lb a day is an awesome result, I am lucky to get 1lb a week.

huffpot nuffin wrong with NW London, in fact I work there!

Thanks for all the PM. I am going to HAVE to start charging, there are tons of us now! Hahahahahaha.

grinningbee · 11/01/2012 15:25

Loving the though of Little Britain groups. brings back fond memories of when I used to go Smile

1lb a day off? Envy. Good result though Dorothy

Cheese I thought you were TTC? Or was there just extra bonkage when you got the new bras a while back Wink.

Currently tidying like mad and about to wash my hair. H has just sprung on me that he is bringing our friend back here as she has no heating. Apparently though she needs to go to the pub first for a steadying drink Hmm. Bit concerned that she can't face me and the dc without one tbh. Of course, H will have to join her in the drinking... now, is it uncharitable of me to be feeling just a little bit cross? (About the drinking).

Must go. Back later to see how we've all done on the first week back on the wagon.

Good luck everyone!

OP posts:
kid · 11/01/2012 15:55

bee, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Those are not the results anyone wants to hear Sad I hope she is comfortable and has been given lots of advice regarding her condition.

I tried to send a pm but can't seem to do it from my phone. I guess I'll have to put laptop on instead.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/01/2012 16:41

Nope not TTC, just shagging Grin

debka · 11/01/2012 16:53

cheese always a mixed feeling when you get a BFN cos secretly a tiny bit of you would quite like to be pg even if you're not TTC :)

bee so sorry about your friend, will they give her any treatment or is it just palliative care now?

My consultant is lovely, group is a bit clappy but I quite like that Blush. We had about FIFTEEN new members last night, I wonder how many will still be there in a month

Right food today-

B- bacon, egg, an apple

L- leftover chilli and rice, a satsuma

S- pack of Pom Bears (o yes)

T- Quorn sausages, wedges and beans. Probably a Muller Light for afters.

Off for a run tonight, I'll have some weetabix afterwards. I eat masses don't I Blush Grin
