So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

I'm here just exhausted, I must go to bed earlier.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/01/2012 13:46

pixie there is a big leap at 70weeks. Sorry pal Grin

kid · 07/01/2012 15:36

I must go to bed earlier too, I'm finding it so hard to get up each morning.
Dh got a bike today so we dug mine out of the shed and went for a bike ride for a couple of hours with dS. It was so lovely. We've been back for 35 minutes and i only just feel like I've recovered!

Just about to plan meals for next week. Hopefully I'll be able to create some more tasty meals.

happynewRia · 07/01/2012 15:54

still lurking. having bad day (again)

kid · 07/01/2012 18:29

Sorry to hear you are having a bad day Ria, hope you have a good evening and are feeling better tomorrow.

I am so cold but no-one else is complaining of being cold. I am also very tired but thats nothing new. I had a sleep for a couple of hours earlier which helped but it takes me ages to wake up. I don't know why I can't just wake up and jump up full of energy!
I really couldn't face cooking dinner, I'm snuggled up on the settee with the dog at the moment so we are getting a chinese takeaway. I'm having chicken chow mein with no sauce and no crackers either (I will make sure the bag is not next to me)

I'm guessing my food for the day has been ok, what do you SW experts think?
I don't know if its g,r or ee days, I've just followed the 7 day meal planner from the magazine.

I've had:

omelette
apple
jacket potato with baked beans (no butter)
chicken chow mein (when it gets here)
I might have a muller light yoghurt later if I am still hungry or another apple. I won't go near the biscuit tin and I'll have to skip the wine too I suppose Sad

I also did a 1 1/2 hour bike ride earlier which I thought was really good and healthy so maybe that warrants a small glass of wine?

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 22:20

Hello. I am still on holiday but will be back on plan from Monday. I have to admit that I am quite looking forward to getting back to it!

Lightshines · 07/01/2012 22:23

kid - doesn't look as if you have had any Syns, so you need that glass of wine!

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 22:25

Chicken chow mein is probably about 7 syns.

wildstrawberryplace · 07/01/2012 22:33

Just come over from other thread. Have signed up for a 12 week countdown.

Feeling a bit fed up and hungry to be honest. It's very quite restrictive isn't it?

kid · 07/01/2012 23:00

wildstrawberryplace it really doesn't have to be restrictive as long as you know the free foods and fill up on them as much as possible. You really don't need to feel hungry on SW. I really need to get stuck into it properly with working out syns and plan meals myself. I took the easy route this week and used the 7 day planner from this months magazine and just switched days around as I wanted.
Tomorrow is day 7 for me and I don't know if I've lost anything. I certainly haven't felt hungry.

I did go for the glass of wine, I had it with diet lemonade so that saved on some syns. I didn't have the muller or fruit as I wasn't hungry.

Tomorrow is the last day of my menu planner and I'm meant to be having kippers for breakfast. I have never tasted them before but I know they really stink! We are also going for a bike ride after breakfast which I am looking forward to. I wish my bike saddle was a bit more padded though Grin
Dh said the saddle should be fine as I have enough padding of my own! Good job he was joking otherwise he might have had to have his bike surgically removed lol

I am aiming to go to bed a little earlier than usual each night. I think all these 1am bedtimes are not helping me get up for work in the mornings.

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 23:20

I have never found SW restrictive. Take a look at some of the recipe ideas online or get some of the recipe books. Also, trawl the magazines.

I love this website - she has some great ideas for meals.

I tend to cook quite a lot and recreate the meals we like a lot. We eat spag col, chilli, curry, roasts etc - all syn free or very low syn.

wildstrawberryplace · 07/01/2012 23:47

Yeah, I am definitely going to stick with it.

However, I keep trying to post something positive but I can't. I do feel hungry and horrible, and knowing I can go downstairs and have bananas and fat free yogurt and protein doesn't seem to make any difference when I want a peanut butter sandwich to take the edge off.

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 23:55

What have you eaten today?

grinningbee · 08/01/2012 00:49

Very quickly popping in as confused - have we had some name changers? If so, please put me out of my misery as to who you were.

Ta

Muchly confused Bee

We have three new people bee! Welcome, Lightshines, FriendofDorothy and wildstrawberryplace! Smile.

Did you get to bed earlier kid and hedge? I love my sleep too much, so am usually asleep by 10.30-11pm at the latest.

Did the Singapore Vermicelli recipe last night and it was indeed scrummy. The poky little Sainsbo's in my town didn't have vermiceli noodles though, so used dried egg ones, which were a bit stodgy imo, so will def use rice noodles next time. Also substituted spring onion for asparagus, as dss is fussy with his veg and he loves asparagus. Will def be doing it again, felt like we were having a take-away. Oh, will also follow recipe more closely and de-seed the chillies - was a little on the hot side!

Ria hope you are having a better day today, and that DS2 enjoys his surprise birthday party! Huffpot How exciting about your parents; where do they live?

from the comfort of my bed.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 10:06

Wooohoooo new people. Hi. friendsof dorothy, lightshines and wildstrawberryplacehow are you all doing? Sorry you are miserable about the diet, I am too. I had a bottle of wine last night, how many syns is that? TOo BLOODY MANY!

Anyway, today will be syn free.
Brunch: fry up sw style scrambled egg, bacon, mushroom, tomato, beans and hobbit toast (heb)
D: lamb and spinach curry with rice
Exercise: spending the day clearing out, cleaning etc. will think about starting shred again

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 10:06

Oh and glad you enjoyed the noodles slinky, they are delish

FriendofDorothy · 08/01/2012 10:10

Anyone got a link to the Singapore Vermicelli recipe? Sounds nice.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 10:25

There is a recipe thread somewhere, when I get on my proper comp I will do a kinky.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 10:25

Grin a link!

grinningbee · 08/01/2012 10:29

Morning all!

Sorry, I was all confuddled last night Grin. Welcome to the new bods!

I don't think SW is restrictive at all, but it can be easy to get into a rut with what you eat. Can you have a look through old magazines for fresh ideas?

Cheese A whole bottle of red is 26 syns I think. Not sure on white as I don't drink it.

Ria Hope you're feeling happier today. I'm sure whatever happened wasn't as bad as you think.

Today I shall be having:

Ready brek, 1 ryvita with 1 tsp marmalde, banana
Cheese triangles on toast and fruit
Shepherd's Lentil Pie (Mwahahahahahaha)

I got a pack of cheap smoked salmon trimmings (98p) on Friday and had those on toast on top of the cheese triangles. Bloody lovely it was too! Enough for a couple of days worth in a bag... although I ended up nibbling the lot Blush

Hello everyone can I join please. I can't attend SW for 6 weeks now due to work commitments so will have to do it myself maybe with a bit of a jog along on mumsnet !
will be following extra easy plan.
what does everyone take to work to eat for lunch as I struggle with ideas and usually end up with couscous or mugshots which are full of salt and no good for my blood pressure ! X

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 11:04

Haha there has been lots of body conditioning in the cheese home this weekend. 26syns, not horrendously over thenGrin

I agree SW is easy, but not as easy as making a sandwich with nice bread or opening a bag of crisps!!
Right must keep cleaning. Lots of stuff is going into storage today to make way for more of DD stuff! Dh didnt pass his exam so we can afford to move. So we are making the house seem bigger by ditching the crap. Boring but it's got to be done.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/01/2012 11:07

Hi fakeblondie. For lunch I have soup, homemade couscous so no salt in it, left overs from dinner the night before. Could you microwave a Spud?
