So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Sorry too early!

kid · 05/01/2012 23:03

I was so tired early I didn't think I'd last the night yet here I am still awake. Uniforms and packed lunches are all done for tomorrow so its just a case of getting up and out on time.

No idea whats on the menu for breakfast tomorrow, I can't even fall back on my usual weetabix as I forgot to buy some. Maybe mushroom omelette again for me?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 05/01/2012 23:39

Oh blimey! There's a man in tr SW mag who lost 12.5st in 7months. There's hope for us all!

And he's fairly hot...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 06/01/2012 07:59

Morning all,

Was up with DD 12-2, yawn. Looking forward to a cuppa.
Yippee it's Friday! Today is Gymboree, so we will walk there and back which is 2.5 miles in total. Not too bad.

B: ff yog and fruit, hobbit toast and jam cos I'm shattered
L: lentil soup, side salad
D: Mediterranean chicken tray bake

Hope everyone is ok, that salt helped my ulcers. I'm going to go for a 2nd round!

happynewRia · 06/01/2012 08:39

morning all. up bright and early as back to work for staff training (I know where I'd rather be). Will probably get tarred and feathered on Monday at work proper for hobnobbinh with teachers and TAs at the training, instead of knowing my place. Gah! I need a new job.

Did not get out for my "run" last night as my sodding children would not go to sleep (9.45 last night, so an improvement at least). Also had Too Much Wine and watched Biggest Loser (it makes me SO cross) and the christmas Come Dine with Me.

have to shop later, for veggies and party bag items for DS2s surprise party on Sunday. I really didn't think it through and am not organised. No surprise there then.

Must go and make myself looks stylish but casual, and a bit professional, and like I am dying to learn.Hmm

Have a lovely Friday.Smile

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/01/2012 08:47

Ria fuck 'em, that's what I say. Hobnob like buggery. Dunno what your position is but sympathies to work strains, I know it only to well. Did you see our Biggest Loser thread?? join us next week Grin I'm not even going to pretend I have anything to do other than MN and watch telly...

Cheese how's DD? Yay for salting ulcers. You can see why it works on slugs...

Right, food today:

B - fruit and ff plain yog, pot of coffee
L - Vietnamese chicken and mint salad, Activia yog
D - butternut squash and chickpea curry, Mars Bar ice cream (yum!)

I have my parents coming tonight, to stay until Sunday. 'Twill be fun, and relaxing, but really hard for me not to immediately turn into my usual frantic hausfrau mode and start cooking every conceivable kind of bread, cake, tart and pudding . I am going to try and work out menus for Sat and Sun on MFP, do the shopping and stick to them...wish me luck!

Happy eating all :)

grinningbee · 06/01/2012 08:50

Morning everyone!

Boo to the new scales Kid. They're obviously faulty and need returning Grin.

Ouchy to the ulcers Cheese and sorry you had a rough night.

I was woken at 5.15 by ds crying very loudly. Poor sausage had got his hand trapped in a gap in the cot under the mattress Sad. It took some effort to get the poor little thing free as well. Managed to snooze with him after that, but not very well.

Anyway. I'm going to shock you all now cos I didn't have weetabix for breakfast!

Today's food:

Ready Brek, 1 ryvita dark with 1 tsp marmalade, banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Beef rogan josh that we should have had yesterday (had sausages instead)

Ready brek with nothing added is a bit bland, but ok. However, the ryvita was a revelation and really nice! And 1 tsp of marmalade did cover it although I was dubious Grin.

Off to the post office later to try and collect a parcel. H claims he's already tried twice but they couldn't find it... we shall see.

Flying visit as I've got to get out the house and go to work, but Slinks I'm definitely up for setting a target by Easter. I'm thinking 15lbs which will be impossible challenging given how crap I've been of late, but I need a good kick up the arse.

Yay, I have converted you to the cult of Ready Brek!! (Accidentally, as I think its 'orrid) Bee, can I ask, whether you are doing EE or Red, or Green? I can never seem to get a cereal breakfast AND bread into my day, I always go over my syns, and as I am a carb-a-holic it makes me grumpy as hell to have to miss out. How do you manage it?

grinningbee · 06/01/2012 10:18

I do either red or green. EE hadn't been invented when I joined the first time (old gimmer that I am) in the early 90's. I'm sure EE is good, but I know where I am with red and green Grin.

I also tend to have extra bread at dinner and syn it. At least that's something I'll be able to cut out if I have to when things slow down.

Right then. I am going for a target of 21.5lb for Easter. That'll take me down to 10st 7lb, at which point I shall probably faint with shock. It should be doable at just over 1.5lb a week. DD's birthday is a couple of days before Good Friday, and I am planning to be a little naughty at Easter, so it all fits in rather nicely. I won't be going quite as mad as Xmas though! Well, that's the theory anyway Wink

Cheeseandbiscuits · 06/01/2012 11:15

I just miss out the cereal and have fruit and yog pixie as I do EE. But it is going to stert getting tricky when I have to go back to work as I will be STARVING! Maybe I will have to syn it.

Thats a good target bee. I am also going to set a 21lb target. I also have a mini target of 1.5stone by 2nd March - DD 1st birthday! Good luck getting the parcel bee

happynewRia · 06/01/2012 11:40

why oh why am I so socially inept and why oh why do I manage to look a complete fool every time I speak???? Huge dose of self-esteem needed hereSad

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/01/2012 11:43

Gah Ria what happened? And I bet you a tenner and an annual supply of SW mags you didn't like even a bit of a fool never mind a complete one. would you like your self-esteem intravenously or by suppository?

If it's any consolation training days make everyone feel like twats.

How many weeks is it until Easter? Id like that to be my target for the weight I need to lose to get FC referral...

pixiestix · 06/01/2012 12:39

Poor Ria Sad I'm sure it felt worse than it was.

Might have a look at some red days then Bee - I am an EE girl through and through but I am missing my cereal!

Cheese I've just seen what you wrote about developemental leaps. DD is 75 weeks so the 60 week one shouldn't be affecting her - is there another one after that? And does it say what the hell I can do to make it any better? Another broken nights sleep last night Confused

kid · 06/01/2012 16:20

I got summoned to the heads office today. Good job I've been a good girl so i knew I didn't need to worry. As i am super organised, I'd already sorted what she was asking about (extra brownie points to me)

I am so glad its the weekend. I got mince out to make some burgers tonight but I'm going to miss our usual Friday night take away. It will be worth sacrificing in the long run.

SlinkyB · 06/01/2012 19:37

Hi all, second day back at work today and it went well. Just wondering when CBeebies programmes theme-tunes start leaving your head...I've had Baby Jake singing away all day Hmm most annoying.

I also wouldn't recommend eating a tin of low-fat veg soup, an apple, some grapes and then drinking a can of Pepsi Max, whilst wearing slightly too-tight trousers; my ass is toxic tonight! Blush. My stomach was churning away all pm in my silent office. Still, the butt clenches count as Body Magic, right? Grin.

Been really good all day with food, but dss just opened some late Christmas presents; a big tub of Celebrations, and a huge jar of sweets. You have to teach kids to share don't you...

Yippeee it's Friday night, time to chill with a film and fistfulls of sweets.

Hope you've all had good days. I agree not to worry about silly colleagues ria - don't let the twats grind you down.

happynewRia · 06/01/2012 21:20

thanks guys. bad day. the most bizarre thing is I bumped into my sis in town and she has suddenly gone from being 2 inches shorter than me, to taller than meHmm. She has just about started to embrace being a single woman, so maybe that's it, and I was huddled in misery. But she hasn't been taller than me for nearly 20 years!!! Pah!

someone mentioned vicks on your feet earlier - I first heard that on MN as a tip for snuffly LOs, but I have tried it on me, and I was quite impressed (apart from having to sleep in socks). Perhaps I am very guillible!

No run tonight. DH out. DS3 has been asleep for 2 hours though - bliss.

tomorrow I will be mostly baking chocolate cake in secret and decorating it with playmobil meerkats (cop-out!) and assembling secret party bags.

happynewRia · 06/01/2012 21:20

am very glad all the returning to work is going wellSmile

SlinkyB · 06/01/2012 21:36

Thanks, I can assure you it won't last long though! Party planning sounds good; how old will DS2 be on Sunday? Cake sounds wicked!

I've managed to put up with Cowboys and Aliens for almost 90 mins but I'm bored stupid. Dan Craig looks fairly hot, if it weren't for the Shrek-like ears and nose. All he seems to do is pout and flex muscles though.

Think I'm gonna try doing the Singapore Vermicelli tomorrow night, which is in the SW 2012 calendar, looks nice and simple (bit like me then, arf).

Cheeseandbiscuits · 06/01/2012 21:43

Oven keeps fusing. Pizza is ordered. Despite the mediterranean uncooked chicken in the oven, bollocks Angry

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/01/2012 21:45

Oooo the Singapore vermicelli is a fave of mine!

I shall be uncharacteristically quiet for the next 2 or 3 days as I have the Aged P's staying. I have worked out all my food, carefully calorie counted. Hope I can stick to it. My Dad is certain to take us all for tea and buns Sad

SlinkyB · 06/01/2012 22:28

Oh no cheese! What a pita Angry.

Will look forward to noodles tomorrow night then Smile. Have a lovely time with your rents Scarlett, catch up with ya soon.

Night folks

Cheeseandbiscuits · 06/01/2012 22:34

I second the Singapore thang, it's delish. Have a lovely weekend TsP. Night slinky

Huffpot · 06/01/2012 23:14

Hi all! Just been reading all the messages

The Singapore vermicelli sounds like something I'll have to try

Have a lovely week TSP I just found out my parents are flying over in May so I have a goal to aim for now - haven't seen them since DS2 was born so will have been nearly 2 years. So excited! Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/01/2012 07:44

Oooh that's exciting huffpot. I bet you are dead pleased. I think the noodle recipe is also on thr recipe thread.

Angry about pizza last night. ESP as Dh came home and found there was a bit of foil covering the fan Blush. This weekend we are having a massive clear out so I'm hoping all the lifting will burn some calories. I'm going to have to be extra good now.

B: ff yog, apple, nectarine
L: omelette and salad
D: Mediterranean chicken what I failed to cook last night!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/01/2012 11:25

Just me today then ?! Wink
