GoingForGoalWeight · 11/12/2011 23:04

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

Hi!! I am still doing Cambridge though I'm on the 1000kcal now, I Sole Sourced for 11 weeks, did 810 for a week now am 1000. I lost 4 stone in 14 weeks, and I hope it will be more (I am 10lbs to goal). I'll be glad to get Christmas out of the way and get back into a normal routine!!!!!!!!!

CD really works if you stick to it (as you know anyway), many people have negative things to say about it but these are the people who don't know what the diet (or weight plan!) is all about. I read up on all the 'science' behind it and managed to shut them up Smile.

I did 3 packs a day which was £40 per week but I think I actually saved money because, apart from not buying any other food, I didn't go into shops as I didn't need to (and spend an extra £20 on things I didn't really need) and also the grocery shopping is lasting ages as I don't eat any of it! I love Cambridge it's the only thing that has worked for me. I think I can not overeat (but it's still not easy) because I didn't eat one thing for 11 weeks apart from the shakes so I know I don't need that chocolate bar or eat the kids leftovers.

You can do it if you want it enough. Ignore those who say negative things, people in real life will say negative things too and you have to be strong enough to know why you're doing it and carry on regardless.
Other people's negativity cannot be the reason you give up on a diet.

You can do it and you will do so well, it works so good luck and go for it!!!!!!!

goingbacktowork - usually your doctor is just told you are doing it, they are sent a form with all the details on it, I didn't have to see my doctor as my CDC said -I'm not actually asking for permission just letting him know what I'm doing. Smile

I think it says if your BMI is over 40 you ened to be signed off to do it and I am bang on 40 (40.3 I think) (oink!) More than happy to be corrected though as that is going to slow me getting going right down.

Physically weak, no energy, tired, nt getting essential basic housework done. feeling self conscious in public as I'm so huge now. Wondering how I'll cope. Predict I'm not going to be very good at coping with everyday stuff that pees me off, rude shop assistants, call centres, idiots elsewhere. Rude people give me reason to eat or i could really lose it and say something I'll regret and gewt into trouble for.

Bought the Cambridge diet book, will look at LL website for inspiration too, collect weight los stories, keep scrap book.

Write down body measurements...

Good luck with that cockney

I am halfway through my first day and feel hungry but have sort of closed my mind to food. The shopping recently has been great as I have not needed to buy any food for me at all. I have enough packs left until I see counsellor next week so decided to just start and get on with it.

I had Apple and cinnamon porridge for breakfast, toffee and walnut shake for lunch and will have a soup later.

For those concerned about cost, try exante. Its the same concept as cambridge/lighter life, and from what I've read about people who've done both, the shakes/soups/bars are much nicer (I've only done exante so can't compare).

I've done exante a couple of times, but never for very long, but am having my 3rd attempt and this time its serious!! Am on day 2 today, so a long way to go.

For me I like the cost, the taste, and the fact I can order it all online and don't have to see a councillor, go to meetings etc, but I appreciate others might like/need to do that.

Anyway, good luck all.

ooh I looked at exante fluffysheep but it did not look that much cheaper. The bumper 4 week pack was usually £200 (£100 + p and p on offer at the moment) so it would be more expensive than Cambridge even on offer. How do you buy yours in packs or by individual shakes / bars etc ? I will def try it if it is cheaper.

I feel so pleased I got through day 1 as I have this habit of 'starting tomorrow' but tomorrow has never come.

Now day 1 is out of the way I know I will not feel more hungry today so if I coped with yesterday today will be fine.

I will not be fat and forty Grin

Anyone starting today ?

VeryStressedMum · 01/01/2012 14:20

Well done fortynotfat!!!!! Keep going I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done (and no, I don't work for Cambridge!!).
I feel so much better and so much more confident and (apart from when I panicked about my wedding day and lost weight) this has been the only thing that has worked for me.

I actually never felt hungry doing SS, because when you're in ketosis apparently you don't, so I knew that when I wanted to eat something it wasn't real hunger. That was always my downfall that I would eat but I wasn't hungry, mouth or head hunger is different.

Taking food out of the equation was the only way I could lose weight and so far I don't crave chocolate or crap and I am finding it easy to say no to things that actually I don't want - I want to maintain this weight (and lose a few more pounds) much more than I want to eat a chocolate bar.

Many people have said to me (a very overweight woman said the same to me last night at the NYE party) that doing this kind of diet means that all the weight will pile back on as soon as you start eating normal food again which I totally don't believe.
I'm eating normal food and I've still lost. Whatever kind of 'diet' you do if, when it's over or you reach your goal weight or whatever, you go back to eating more calories than your body needs then you will gain weight.
After doing Cambridge if you eat the amount of calories your body needs in order to maintain your new size then you won't put on weight, same as WW or SW etc.
You do have to work up the plans because if you do SS then start eating 1500 calories a day straight away then yes you'll put on a bit of weight (water etc) because your body has to adjust but then at some point if you don't overeat you won't carry on putting weight you will maintain.

GoingforGoalWeight - you can do this. Do not let other people dictate what you weigh. If someone is rude to you, eating loads, sabotaging your plan and being fat is not getting your own back on them in any way - they go about their merry little lives not giving you a second thought but you end up feeling more crap about yourself and ultimately ruining your life and for what?

You can control yourself to not say anything and get into trouble - we all can. Maybe if you took control of your life you wouldn't feel the need to blow your top at other people who mean nothing to you.
They do not make you overeat it's just the excuse you need to give yourself to overeat but you don't need to.

You can do it Smile let us know how you get on. xx

The 4 week bumper pack is always £100 (despite what they say!!) so thats £25 a week. Cheaper than what I've read on here about Cambridge?

There are flavours I don't like (strawberry and banana, don't like them in anything not just this), so i now tend to buy individual flavours of stuff but in the bulk boxes. Works out slightly more expensive than buying the mixed lot, but not much. For example, 50 chocolate shakes are £59.00.

I also buy the tesco ultra slim meal replacement bars instead of the exante bars, they are an exact match in terms of calories, carbs, vitamins etc, and so are considered a suitable alternative.

I'm on day 3 today and finally starting to feel less hungry, which is a relief. I struggle to drink the water, as I have a bladder issue anyway and drinking more is not great as I spend all my time in the loo!

Report
fortynotfat · 01/01/2012 15:11

yes £25 a week is cheaper. I may get a bumper pack next month to see how it compares. The being weighed thing does not bother me so will give exante a go in Feb. Thanks for the tip re the tescos bars will look out for them. I do like that my counsellor is happy if I get a couple of days or a full week from her so I dont feel tied into buying a full week each time so I may mix and match.

I am on day 2 and pretty hungry. I know I will feel fine when ketosis kicks in any time now. I feel much better already and over the christmas bloat.

goingforgoal How are you doing ? Are you starting today ?

I did want to ask - have you / are you planning to tell people that you are doing a VLCD ?

I am really undecided as to what to do. I just dont want opinions / questions whilst I am battling through the first few weeks so may keep it quiet.

Any tips about answers to questions / avoidence would be most helpful

Hello

I'm Drinking my water, about to have my first shake.

Thanks so much stressedmum xxxx

The Cambridge diet has the best quality IMO for vitamins and minerals, the most tested and has been around the longest.

I think i trust my health to Cambridge more than any other meal replacement plan on the market.

I'm telling nobody about Cambridge. When it becomes blindingly obvious I#ve lost weight and I am asked hgow I've done it I shall say I don't want to talk about it.

Sod em [frgin]

This diet i imagine attracts a lot of criticism, I do not want to hear it. If pushed I'll say eat less move more, I haven't any other strict formula other than that.

Just make it up, lose weight, watch them turn Xmas Envy

I've been having Psychodynamic therapy each week for the last past twelve months. To quell the emotional pain i have severly overate and piled on nine stones..I KNOW..the year previous i had lost weight at WW. the therapy was the definate trigger to my overeating, therapist wasn't too bothered but Iv am! I'm 26 8lb stones now as i write.

Carry on therapy and do Cambridge or give up therapy until I'm at goal weight, my body weight is so serious I could have a stroke, heart attack. I'm not sure my therapist will see this as good enough reason to stop therapy.
