2012 - New Years Day - The Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - Weight loss

GoingForGoalWeight · 11/12/2011 23:04

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

I'm on step 3 out of necessity than choice and I eat a small meal per day. I have found it quiet easy to do, 2 shakes or bars then a meal which provided it has lots of veg in it with some meat seems like a proper meal. I found some innocent pots of veg in waitrose the other day which means the veg I eat is now hot and more varied than I would be bothered to do myself. The counsellor said it was ok as long as the calorie count was low and it was low carb.

Have stood on the scales today and have lost 5lbs in 5 days by my estimate but the truth will out on Monday.

Well I have 112 pounds to lose and am on ss 3 products a day. My consultant never mentioned otherwise.

I have done 7 days ss now. This is the longest I have ever done with no cheat. I am rather pleased with myself.

Sunday will be a problem as going to my nephews birthday party. It is. 2 ur drive there and back so will be a long day and having lunch and dinner at my brothers so will be noticed if I don't eat. I really don't want to tell my family ( read horrible mum ) so I think I will have to eat as little as posible and get back on track Monday. Monday is weigh day too so don't want to ruin my hard work.

GFGW how did you get on today ?

I just wanted to post to say how fab this diet is and how well you are all doing!

I have done cambridge in the past but never got to goal as I got pregnant each time Blush (it really does make you very very fertile)

I'm starting again now, today is day 5 for me but I'm doing Exante this time, I love cambridge and haven't got a bad word to say about them, but exante is much cheaper, so I'm on the ketosis bus with you all Grin

Let us know how you get on !

How do I cope with going to family for the day Sunday. It is nephew birthday party and we are driving for a couple of hours to get there and will be served lunch and dinner. I do not want family to know yet so was planning to eat as little as possible and concentrate in it not sending me off track. That will be a major achievement as a cheat usually ends up as a huge binge for me.

Weigh in Monday for me

Hi Forty! Main thing is, don't be scared to eat. As much as possible, only eat protein. If your counsellor gave you a book, its mentions "green and white", ie. white meat and green salad or veg. If thats not possible, just try and stay off carbs if you can, that why you won't do too much (or any) harm.

Hope you have a lovely time. By the time I come back on here, I will be on Day 2!

Have a great weekend all x

Forty I would agree with overtired - stick to the protein / salad and you may be able to stay in ketosis and minimise the damage.

GFGW good luck with your weigh in - I'm so excited to hear everyone's results.

I only got one reply to this so asking again as I want to check that what I have been told is correct. Has anyone on here got more than 80 pounds to lose with BMI of over 40 and on sole source? I have been told this is not possible. Thanks

OlympicEater · 07/01/2012 12:42

I haven't goingback, but my friend has done it with that much to lose.

From what it says here and on the next page when you click the link, you have to have a BMI over 25 plus a stone to do sole source - if it is less then you can't do it.

Have you asked a counsellor?

You are kind of answering a different point. That rule is to make sure no one very close to their ideal BMI does it ( i.e. someone not overweight enough). CD helpline said to me if you have BMI over 40 you CANNOT do sole source (i.e you are too overweight for your body to do this) but there appear to be several ladies on here in that category who are so I could not quite understand. Thanks very much.

Not sure going-back - my councellor said that I should start in sole source plus, she actually thinks that for many people its better in any case. My BMI is less than 40, but over 30 - and I'm a bloke :) Just need go get GP to sign my form and I start SS+ !

GoingforGoal waiting to hear how you got on with the weigh in!!

How's everyone else doing on their plans? I'm still on 1000 cals, though I'm finding it hard to have the shakes now as I can't be bothered to make them (I faff around with blender, ice...), but it's going ok haven't overeaten and I've started exercising (sporadically).

Forty, I would too just eat protein, as lean as possible, maybe even bring your own packets of cooked chicken. Saying you are doing low carb is more 'acceptable' than Cambridge because people don't know how it works, that's why I found out all there was to know about Cambridge so when people said 'it's dangerous' or 'you'll pile the weight straight back on again' I could put them straight and they couldn't argue back.

You could also say you have a stomach ache and don't feel like eating and don't want to chance dairy so you'll just have black coffee. I said a whole load of stuff which must've sounded a bit strange.

Now however, all people say to me is how fab I look and how have I lost all the weight Grin

It's definitely not the easiest thing I've ever done but it's also not the hardest and how I feel now is worth every single second of the past 3.5 months.

Well today I have had a bad tummy. Think it is a bug and i felt terrible earlier went all shaky. My husband was worried and wants me to ' eat properly' tomorrow.

I weighed this morning and am 9lb down so am happy with that.

Back on ss Monday as soon as I feel better.

Do you stick to ss when ill ?

We are all waiting for you GFGW !

fortynotfat · 07/01/2012 18:54

I have done 7 days ss and can do many weeks more so am not stressing about tomorrow. I will never go back to huge binge eating and Monday will be the, start of a longer run of ss so i will lose the weight.
