Starting on tuesday (Nov 1st) I will be commencing my November boot camp. The rules are:

  1. 30 mins exercise every day
  2. No booze and lots of water
  3. No processed food and lots of fruit and veg

That's it. Easy right? Join me if you want to, i'm aiming to lose at least a stone, (ideally 1.5 stone by middle of Dec) taking me to 10st. I'll be weighing in on Fridays and logging food/exercise diary here to keep on track.

Well done fauxfox.......really impressed with 5k run. How do you measure distance? I've not found any apps that seem to work well.....

I had a shockingly bad week......started really well and then went pear shaped as weekend approached! Only two runs and one day shred......went for a run yesterday and will try to shred tonight...... I did appear to have lost 3lbs although I'm not sure how!! I have definitely cut down on snacking but find I'm drinking more coffee...... Today I will drink enough water. I drink gallons at work but struggle at home. I will try to have a run tonight..... could do with an extra 8 hours in a day!!

LuckyC · 11/11/2011 09:46

Jerin your week not as bad as mine. My only excuse is that I have been chained to the desk every day getting the website launched. Done now whew

So today's plan:
B: Apple
L: Omelette w fat-free cottage cheese and carrot salad
D: grilled steak and veg

I have a networking lunch (will eat before I go and not drink) and have to go and get the baby straight afterwards so I am just not sure when I can fit in some exercise - will try even if it's a walk with the buggy this evening.

Inspirational stuff from you all, thanks so much.

So, this glass of wine in the evening - how bad is it? If I stick to one small glass?

Principality · 11/11/2011 09:53

Hi there,

Can i join late? :)

I have slowly crept up the scales since having DS.... who is now two... Blush I haven't weighed myself in ages, i don't own any scales, but will check when i get to my mums later. I think I weigh about 10st 7... Blush at 5'4.5. I would ideally like to be 9st 7.

In the last few days i have tried to cut the crap out... no biscuits I went for a run on Sunday and it killed me! I walk the dogs everyday so 45min of walking usually.

Today I have eaten/ will eat:

Breakfast: Bowl of cereal - 200cal

Snack: Apple- 53cal

Lunch: two poached eggs on one piece of toast (74cal per egg + 120toast)

Snack: Apple - 53 cal

Dinner: Lamb, 2 new potatoes, lots of veg. (200cal+150cal+170cal)

Oooooh i'm hungry just thinking about not being allowed things...

I have started cutting out some crap this week, but not really... the odd biccy has crept in.... but no more!!

Good luck to everyone on weigh in day!

FauxFox · 11/11/2011 09:57

Jerin you must be doing something right to drop 3lb Wink

I know what you both mean about not having enough time...i've decided as I am usually rushing about behind with everything an extra half an hour is not going to make a massive difference and if I go for a run straight from school drop off it's done and I can tackle the rest of the day. I measured the 5k route using an online map thing (forget where sorry) it is basically around the edge of my local rec ground.

Lucky a glass of wine is probably fine...I however have a glass then finish the bottle Blush I'm a bit all or nothing like that so i'm having November booze free then just drinking for occasions/fri/sat after that. I'm not finding it too hard to go without tbh...think it was a habit when the kids went to bed but not a very useful one!!

Yipee I lost 3 whole pounds! Can't quite believe it.Shock Even better than the weight loss is that my swimming costume is so baggy I had to buy a new one. Yes you heard right a SMALLER costumeGrin.

Fauxfox - you don't eat much, I can't imagine how you can run on so little food.

I stumbled upon the Foodfocus website, which is really good and free. Based on their calculations I've actually increased my calories a bit to fuel my exercise and it seems to have worked as I can't remember the last time I lost 3lb in a week.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

jerin · 11/11/2011 22:06

Welcome Principality....

And really well done bluedomino.......

I think my weight loss was probably down to natural fluctuations rather than my dieting! I have lost just under a stone since the start of this year but i tend to eat all the stuff i shouldnt in the evenings......

a week til the beach so will be extra strict this week and really try to get more excercise in........ im so hopeful I can keep up the ( what will be) good work whilst Im away.....

Principality my weight too has crept up since children, so much easier to grab a slice of toast or a biscuit, than to make something healthy. Mind you, ive used the 'i've just had twins' excuse too much and they're almost 3 now!

Well I didnt run tonight but dp thinks he has found an app or something to measure distance. I get really frustrated when I get home and it says ive done 200 metres!!

Hope you all have a good weekend.......

FauxFox · 12/11/2011 07:39

Why do you say that blue? I'm aiming for 1200-1500 cals but using guesstimates rather than logging...i just totted up yesterday on mfp and it came to 1421 cals I thought that was about right for losing weight? I do eat lighter in the day so I can have a "normal" evening meal but that's the only way for me i'm afraid. Well done on the 3lb and the new costume! What a boost...my swimming costume is so horrid it puts me off going Confused

Today i'm going to run again (go me) and food is
B: Yog and fruit
L: 3 x ryvita with hummus and salad
D: DH cooking so not sure but will be yummy!

Have a lovely Saturday all Grin

Hey Faux,

Basically I'm working on needing around 2240 calories per day normally, so reducing it to 1250 I should theoretically lose 2lb of fat each week. Then if I factor in say a hard swim session I would need around 600+ calories to fuel that and not lose any muscle, so on that day I would need 1850 calories.

On days when I've done a spin class and swam, I increased my daily allowance by nearly 1000. I also aim to have a good hit of protein within an hour of training. I do find that my performance suffers if I don't eat enough and I feel really spaced out.

So as I think running is the most rock hard sport ever, I can't imagine being able to run on that little food! As you can tell running doesn't feature in my training. Envy

I've certainly eaten more this week and lost more weight than usual. Sorry if that put you to sleep. Happy running!

FauxFox · 12/11/2011 22:50

lol blue i don't run marathons just 30 mins jog which is 5k, and I think spinning is the scarier exercise by far! I'm not remotely spaced or hungry - actually I prob have more energy than usual so i'm just going to see how I go.

Dinner was a huge prawn and marie rose sauce and avocado salad and a mini packet of maltesers - it is saturday night after all Wink

FauxFox · 13/11/2011 07:28

Morning all...todays plans:

bugsylugs · 13/11/2011 07:47

Morning all, not checked in for a few days and tomorrow we are off on hols yippe. So on Fri I was back to my startig weight at the previous week I had put on Blush. So was really pleased this week. Legs aching. Yesterday what a beautiful day and warm in the local gardens all morning. Then evening out to a ball, Had a small glass of fizz with the neighbours before setting off then nil till then meal but how many comments about not drinking! So only 3 drinks in all and lots of water and dancing so not too bad.

bluedomino congrats excellent news about swimming cossie
fauxfox your totting up seems ok to me but if you start sticking or gaining you would need to think about measuring.
principality welcome hope this is the motivation you need.

See you all in a week and good luck

FauxFox · 13/11/2011 14:55

Have a lovely holiday bugsy

I have been for a run and hoovered like a maniac today so am feeling very virtuous! Am also finding out about starting a Pilates class, I used to go and it def made my tummy much flatter.

I'm so determined to do this now - it's my Christmas present to myself to be able to look in the mirror and think I look good!

OP posts:
bluedomino · 13/11/2011 20:13

Faux - 5K Shock I couldn't run 5 yards! Wish I could though as you never see any runners with cellulite. I can hide snacks in my dimpley thighs.

Spinning is good once you get over the saddle soreness.Wink

Good idea to think of it as a Christmas present to yourself, I really want to be able to choose something new to wear over Christmas and not just have to buy the only thing I can squeeze into. And I want to look less mumsy.

Have to fess up now - I just ate 2 French Fancies. Why do I want sugary snacks as soon as I sit on the sofa?

Bugsy - happy holiday.

FauxFox · 14/11/2011 07:24

Sorry to burst your bubble blue but I definitely have cellulite on my arse (for now at least) but it prob doesn't show thru my running leggins Confused
...and step away from the french fancies you!

PLan today is:
30 mins run (am going to keep this up every day until the weather turns, i much prefer to be outside but I do have Davina in reserve for when the rain comes back!)
B: Yog/melon/honey
L: 3 x ryvita with hummus and salad
D: tin of soup (off out to Ballet with DD)
Snacks: fruit and prob something when I get back from Ballet.

Have a fabulous Monday all!

OP posts:
FauxFox · 15/11/2011 07:25

Morning all - hope you are having a good week so far? Plan for today is....

Run for 30 mins
B: Yog with banana and seeds
L: 3 x Ryvita and cream cheese with salad
D: Salmon with rice and veg
Snacks: fruit/dried fruit

I'm in the zone can you tell Grin Hoping for a good loss on Friday...

OP posts:
bluedomino · 15/11/2011 23:11

Got into my size 12 jeans, and they are actually a bit baggy. Its such a boost, makes me more determined. Did spin class last night and again this morning and swam for 20 mins, before I ran out of time and had to get to the nursery. Ate somewhere in the region of 1800 cals,

I want to weigh tomorrow but know I should wait until Friday really. Theres always a chance when I keep jumping on and off the scales that if its not a good loss I will get disheartened and give up.

Keep at it ladies.

FauxFox · 16/11/2011 07:20

Well done blue Grin sounds like you are in the zone too!

Today I will...
run for 30 mins
B: Grapefruit, yoghurt and honey
L: 3 x ryvita with cream cheese and salad
D: HM roasted squash and red pepper soup with garlic bread
Snacks: fruit

TOTM arrived today so I hope that doesn't ruin my weight loss on Fri..grrr.

jerin, principality and Lucky are you boot camping this week? How's it going?

OP posts:
FauxFox · 16/11/2011 10:24

Decided to do Davina 30 mins Pump instead of run this morning - was good but now I have jelly legs!

OP posts:
LuckyC · 16/11/2011 11:28

Morning all - have been finding it tricky to check in as work is insane. Nearly finished. Also have had no exercise - commuting, chained tp desk. Nearly finished! But have been doing OK on the not eating nonsense front.

Today:
Egg / toast
Soup
Tomato/bean/small bits of chorizo/red pepper casserole with green veg
Coffees
Apples

NN glass red wine

Exercise - walk 45 mins

Back Fri, see you

LuckyC · 16/11/2011 11:28

PS Shred arrived! And I found my scales, will get batteries.

FauxFox · 16/11/2011 14:49

Well done Lucky it's hard to focus when you are snowed under with work, good luck with the Shred...I did 10 days on level 1 a couple of years ago and found it hard but good iyswim then lent the DVD player to MIL with the disc in it accidently and I haven't seen it since...don't think MIL has been shredding though Confused

OP posts:
bluedomino · 16/11/2011 14:50

What is this shred thing, can someone enlighten me please?

FauxFox · 16/11/2011 14:54

Jillian from USA biggest loser has a fitness DVD called 30 day thread. There are 3 x levels and each has a 20 min high impact workout and you are meant to do it every day, 10 days on level one the 10 on level 2 etc and transform your bod in 30 days. It gets results but I prefer more variety to avoid getting bored. Also from what i've read of others experiences you can find it more a change in body shape than weight loss thing depending on start weight.

OP posts:
FauxFox · 16/11/2011 14:54

shred not thread obviously [duh]
