The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT

stripy - I always eat some breakfast, but it is generally about an hour after waking up, perhaps a bit more because by the time I've fed the baby, wiped DS1's bum, had a shower and dealt with the general chaos that is how long it takes to get downstairs!! I find that I get too starving otherwise, and then things go wrong later in the day.
I spent years not eating breakfast, and I have no doubt that it led to weight gain - for me - so as PMK says in the book, if you want different results then you need to do things differently.

What I have found, is that I am snacking much less in the evenings as time goes on, so I am hungrier in the mornings. That has taken some time though, so go with it.

BBB - DH is going contracting (IT) so we have set up a company which he will use to do that, and we will also do other things under that same business - so a bit of both!

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 27/01/2012 13:19

stripy I have protein shakes for breakfast. Less oomph on the stomach and takes the edge off til I have a snack later. I use Lamberts with skimmed milk then add a couple of tablespoons of sugar free instant whip. Tastes yummy and stops it getting boring since I have a choice of five flavours.

movingonwardsorsidewards · 27/01/2012 18:47

Hi Everyone,

Well today I actually took dd to the park and went roller skating. I'm even considering getting a bike so that i can cycle to work when i get a new job. I have nothing against people that cycle, but i feel like i would look silly on a bike. But even though I feel that way I still feel like I would like to try it.

I have really started to feel like i should be exercising but in a useful way, not just a 'go to the gym and exercise to loose weight'. But in a fun way. That makes me feel so positive.

Not sure I'm doing as well on the food frount, but its going ok Smile

movingonwardsorsidewards · 27/01/2012 18:54

also I just wanted to check if anyon has tried any of paul mckennas other books and cd's? like I can make you happy?

movingonwardsorsidewards · 27/01/2012 18:59

or change your life in 7 days?

stripygiraffe · 28/01/2012 09:45

Morning guys. Could someone please tell why I have lost my mojo?
Weigh in yesterday and I stayed the same. Yes better than putting on but am still Sad

Have changed things for when I eat breakfast and that feels better. I am going to give it my all today.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 28/01/2012 10:35

For those who are not losing, could it be muscle gain rather than lack of weight loss? stripy are you listening to the cd?

stripygiraffe · 28/01/2012 12:58

I may have lost a big of momentum with listening to the trance Blush

I was zoning out too quickly and really not paying any attention to it all. Blush

Nail. Head. ?

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 28/01/2012 13:31

It's certainly kept me focused! Been for another run today. On a Saturday. At 9am!
moving I've never tried anything else...slim has always been my focus and I like the from what I discern of the cd before I zone out patter focuses on positive body image.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/01/2012 17:52

stripy - agree that the CD is key.

Phoenix I am so impressed with your exercising!

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 28/01/2012 18:54

I can't quite believe my own enthusiasm...I suppose it's upping my game cos I had been going to the gym 3-4 times a week before! and the fear of doing a 10k in 8 weeks' time!
Yes play the cd even if just to fall asleep, it seems to impact.

movingonwardsorsidewards · 29/01/2012 00:16

Phenix - i know exactly what you mean, in the last 9 days i have shredded 8 days and i went roller blading for 45mins today and 1/2 an hour yesterday :) i cant believe it either.

also i was very naughty and weighed myself after 10 days i weighed myself and lost 4lbs :) i'm sooooo happy, i hope i will loose more over the next week. but i have also been doing my fitness pal.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/01/2012 00:37

moving that is brilliant, well done!

I am jealous of all you lot fitting in loads of exercise - yes actually jealous, which is weird in itself! DH and I are both just totally bogged down atm with lack of sleep (thanks DS2) and so busy and can't seem to make the time.
I must sort myself out though, because I need to sort my bridesmaid outfit for May in the next couple of months. I would love to lose 2 inches off my waist and 1 off my hips, I would feel so much better about myself.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 29/01/2012 08:24

Great work moving! Now you know it's working!
ali lack of sleep won't make it easy..don't bear yourself up too much. Just try to focus on the rules.
Can I say I'm shocked, really Shock . I have a good friend who is on the larger side. Don't know exactly her size but while I've known her she's always been about a size 16/18. I noticed she's gained weight recently. She told me last night she wants a gastric band so her GP has told her to gain as much weight as possible ! How is that medically sound? 'get as fat as you can so they're more likely to give you an drastic operation'?! I've told her to get Pauling instead!

KinkyDorito · 29/01/2012 09:55

Phoenix If she's 16/18, she's smaller than me. I thought you had to have a BMI of about 40 to get it done, so she's going to have to gain quite a bit... Saying that, I've been watching 'A Year to Save My Life' about very obese people trying to lose weight (properly, no bands involved) and the American trainer who does it is so utterly gorgeous that I have told DH I might have to gain 15st so they accept me onto the programme next time round Grin. He likes hugging people. He can hug me and the rest any day of the week. He's beautiful.

I've been exercising. It is a battle as I am a very lazy person. I have done 20 days so far this month, at least 1hr at a time. Usually it's an hour of crosstrainer. More than anything, it is improving my mood which definitely could do with a bit of help at the moment. Every time I start, I have to force myself, but I'm hoping to keep it up. I do think the CD has helped my motivation.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/01/2012 10:01

Phoenix that is utter madness, I cannot imagine a doctor saying that!!

Kinky well done with the exercise.

Right, today is the day. I am going to shred tonight once the boys are in bed.

KinkyDorito · 29/01/2012 10:02

IMO gastric bands do not solve the issues that caused the weight gain in the first place. I lost a big amount of weight and was slim (10/12) and I still felt like shit and regained it all. It's about self esteem, how you handle negative emotions, all that jazz. Many gastric band patients pick up secondary addictions to cope when times are tough. That's also not to mention the number that die during the op or after it from infection or complications. I don't think it's worth it because it doesn't change anything apart from weight, which is a symptom not the disease itself.

I'm not anti-surgery either. I think if someone is absolutely huge, their quality of life is nil, and they cannot change anything themselves it might give them a boost. However, telling a patient to gain weight to get there is very stupid. I'd actually be tempted to report the GP.

KinkyDorito · 29/01/2012 10:04

Ali Shred. Good luck with that. I have it but I haven't quite brought myself to do it yet. I've used it in the past and remember it very, very well Grin. It works beautifully though so I should stop being a wuss.

DorisIsWaiting · 29/01/2012 12:37

Bugger lost 1/4 of a lb this week. Still not under 13 stone. (13 and 1/4 Blush) Think maybe I need to start trying to learn the tapping to distract me from the late evening snacks (not much snacking but not entirely sure it's necessary. Also going to try and motivate my self to drink a glass of water before everything I eat (that's going to be hard but...)

I am doing the couch to 5k and on w4 so hopefully I will be running more off too....

fingers crossed things get better next week. On the postitive side I do think my body shape is changing.

Hope you all have better weeks than me.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/01/2012 21:30

Doris that is the same as me! Grin

One good thing about not losing much this week is that it has kept me really focused over the weekend, I am bad at thinking I can eat everything going at the weekend.

Day 1 of Shred done. And it was considerably easier than the last time I did it back in October. I only managed 4 days then, I am aiming for better this time!

Solo · 29/01/2012 23:55

Well, in my head I'm running! does that count as exercise?! Grin

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 30/01/2012 07:44

Keep going doris and Ali! Ummm solo...maybe*?!
I'm off on a course so I put smart trousers on...they were always mega uncomfortable round the waist but were all I had...they are now, comfortable! Shock

stripygiraffe · 30/01/2012 08:51

Good morning all. I'm so sorry but I'm going to bore you all day with my progress. I feel I really need to concentrate my mind.

So up at 7 after the first night my wee boy (13m) has properly slept through. He did 6.30pm - 7am Grin

I don't like having breakfast right away I now realise so I have a cup of tea when the family eat and then try to drink a glass of lemon water. I get hungry about an hour and a half after waking so I had my cereal.

Feeling good and about to head out to toddlers.

I'll be back. Wink

KinkyDorito · 30/01/2012 09:11

Morning all.

Still here, still going. Into Week 4 now. Am back to the weight I was when I was forced to go out and buy fat lady work clothes in September. So, I'm hoping that when I go back to work next Monday they should fit better. When I tried them on before Christmas they were filled to capacity and I was on the verge of having to buy some even bigger ones!

I will join you stripy so we can bore each other Grin.

I've had 2 fibre pills (don't ask) and a big glass of water, plus peppermint tea, and then, about 40mins later, rye toast with peanut butter. Yum.

Monday is supermarket day. I find myself getting weirdly excited about the excuse to leave the house .

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/01/2012 09:51

Morning everyone :)

Progress reports are good I think, I will do one too.

Feeling thinner this morning, and my jeans are definitely looser - they are really baggy on the hips and legs. The ones I have which are a size smaller are still just a leeetle bit snug on the waist but fit really nicely elsewhere.

I had a cup of tea and a small slice of brioche earlier, and now I'm having another cuppa and a banana.

I am looking forward to my walk up to preschool to drop DS1 off (this is unusual)

Kinky thank you, you have reminded me to take my vitamins.

Actually having sat and typed this, I'm not even going to finish the banana.
