The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches so forget diets, they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Nice one Stripy!!! Xmas Smile

I haven't changed in 2 weeks which I am pretty pleased about because a) I haven't been trying and was dreading going on the scales and b) Its Christmassss!

I've come over all motivated now, what with you lot doing so well and seeing the scales this morning. Well done to you all - nobody has had a relapse. Woo hoo! Xmas Grin

stripygiraffe · 30/12/2011 23:56

Hmmm I had my siblings over tonight for a "We didn't see you on Christmas Day" get-together. Had a number of glasses of wine and a major attack of the nibblies. I'm not overly worried though as I only drink this much 6 or 7 times a year.
DH and I did move our bodies afterwards though Wink
Roll on tomorrow and the New Year. I really love having you guys to come and chat to.
Positive thoughts for all.

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 31/12/2011 01:16

Niecie that's great that you've stayed still.

The great thing about this eating plan is that you can start again the second you've had a wobble...and we are all lovely on this thread stripy Xmas Grin.

learningtofly · 31/12/2011 08:49

Good morning, I would like to join this thread if I may. I have just ordered my book (although I have a vague recollection of watching the tv show a few years ago.)

Although I am now at the same weight now as before I had my ds I have 3 1/2 stone to lose. My problem in the past is that although I am overweight I am always in proportion body wise so people never believe I weigh quite as much as I do iyswim. Which whilst is very kind, its not very helpful.

I had a routine appointment with the practice nurse before Christmas who happened to weigh me and she told me in no uncertain terms that if I didnt lose weight I would become one of those women "who's bottom spreads across seats" and that I was at serious risk of health problems in the future. I kid you not.

However brutual - it is the kick up the bum that I need! I have also signed up to do a 10K run at the end of March because if I dont have a goal to work towards I wont exercise.

stripygiraffe · 31/12/2011 09:11

Morning learning and welcome.
Good for you aiming for the 10k. You can download a Couch to 10k app that may help you.

learningtofly · 31/12/2011 10:29

Thanks stripy, I've just done that :)

I did do a 10k 4 years ago pre ds when I was a regular gym goer but the finances just won't stretch to a gym membership anymore and Tbh I don't have the time! I do have a wii and the infamous JM shred dvd so plenty of instruments of torture to get me going!

I am hoping PM will help me lose weight - I know lose control at work as I eat when I am trying to concentrate or stressed so the eating consciously will be a good place to start!

ppeatfruit · 31/12/2011 11:42

Morning all Smile Welcome learning it gets easier and it looks like I'll be doing P.M. for life now (it's once you get into it becomes part of yr life and you don't really think about it).

If you know that you find it hard to eat slowly at work take apples (they need a lot of chewing!!) and macadamias with dried fruit or whatever they fill you up because you need to chew them properly IFYKWIM

babysbreath · 31/12/2011 21:50

Hi, I would like to start this PM non-diet (diet) tomorrow! Can we start a nice new thread? Thanks

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 01/01/2012 01:16

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Welcome babysbreath :) Good for you starting on January the 1st, but why the need to start a new thread? this one is good for another 500+ posts. We are on thread 7 and I don't personally see the need to abandon it...anyone feel different or are you all happy to continue here?

stripygiraffe · 01/01/2012 03:00

Given that with PMK a day is just a day to be tackled in the same way regardless of its date or meaning, I think we should stay here.

Welcome, though, babybreath and good luck.

ppeatfruit · 01/01/2012 10:05

And HNY to You All too. But I agree with Solo and Stripey!! sorry and welcome baby Grin mainly 'cos IMO if there are 2 threads there'll be confusion and less opportunity for the newbies to benefit from the experienced older ones.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 01/01/2012 11:14

Happy New Year! Grin

And yes I agree we should stay in this thread Smile

KinkyDoritoHopingForAGreat2012 · 01/01/2012 11:30

I am starting tomorrow...

I just hope that my book has arrived when I get home.

I'm also on a strict budget now, so that should help with eating if I ignore the heaps of Christmas chocolates

BigBaubledBertha · 01/01/2012 11:59

Happy New Year from me too. Hope you are all well and raring to go.

I agree about the thread. I hadn't thought that having 2 threads would be confusing but it is true - this one would still be around even if we abandoned it and I am sure that some people would see it and start posting on it even if we put a link to the new thread.

Plus if we start a new one it would only be more of the same so there isn't much point from a discussion point of view.

babysbreath - please don't be put off by this. All comers are welcome at any time and if you ever need reminding of the rules there is a brief summary at the beginning of the thread. Just dive straight in and come and tell us about yourself and what you are doing.

I just had a New Year pain au chocolate but it was very nice and I was hungry so I suppose it was OK. I shan't be making a habit of though!

AliBellandthe40jingles · 01/01/2012 12:10

BigBertha is right babys, please don't be put off.

One thing that PMK has taught me is that the 'usual' way of dieting, new resolutions, deadlines and so on is not sustainable in the long term, so it would very much go against the grain for me to have a new thread just because it is a new year.

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 01/01/2012 12:46

Sorry, I realise my post sounds harsh and it wasn't meant to.

We all seem to have gee'd up a bit, so I don't reckon it'll take too long to fill this thread now anyhow :)

I'm knuckling down from tomorrow

babysbreath · 01/01/2012 13:19

Happy New Year

I quite understand about not starting a new thread. So I am going to join you on this one. I have put on soooooo much weight over 2011 and I am determined to get rid of it.

Listened to the cd last night, but fell asleep while it was playing - do you think that would be a problem? Or should it still absorb into your subconscious?

PM says only eat when you are hungry, how does everyone cope when you are cooking for the family, and everyone sits down together to eat?

Thank you for letting me join your group.

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 01/01/2012 13:42

Hello babys :) good to see you again.

Yes, the message still gets through; I hardly ever listened without falling asleep.

You can still sit down with your family when they eat; just chat instead, drink a glass of water...you may find that you will actually get around to feeling hungry when they are eating, so it may not be every meal you are not eating at the same time.

BigBaubledBertha · 01/01/2012 14:21

No I don't think it matters about falling asleep. I usually wake up when he says wake up but that is just me. I don't suppose it makes any difference if you don't. I am usually only awake long enough to disentangle myself from the earphone wires anyway so not fully with it...... if I ever am!! Grin

Perhaps I should have listened to it last night and actually got some sleep. We have fecking squirrals in our roof space keeping me away with scrabbling around. Xmas Hmm Much as it pains me to do it, we might have to get an exterminator in. I once had a conversation with an electrician about how squirrels are much worse for chewing through wires than rats or mice and he knew people who had fires as a result. They do give me the creeps knowing they are in the house. Should have used PMcK to drown them out!!

stripygiraffe · 01/01/2012 19:16

Hi guys. Well New Year is here. I hope this is a good year for everyone esp kinky and solo.
It was a quiet one for me - kids in bed at usual time so just DH and me. Been struggling a wee bit with picking at things. Has anyone done the tapping technique?

I hit the panic button on my PMK app and listened to the mini trance. I now feel happy to wait for my dinner Hmm

AliBellandthe40jingles · 02/01/2012 00:33

Stripy do you rate the app? I have baulked at the price until now!

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 02/01/2012 02:23

Aw! thanks stripy Blush

ppeatfruit · 02/01/2012 09:02

Pleased to see our meanness possessiveness didn't put you off babys!! Grin. No we're all lovely actually aren't we? A lot nicer than some in other threads for sure!!Morning all Smile BTW!

The eating together thing will come when you're more into it. After all isn't a good, healthy and slimming idea for EVERYONE to eat when they're hungry? Not by the clock or tradition. I always used to give my DCs and mindees a pretty plate of fruit when they were hungry straight after school or while I was preparing the meal (for me also of course 'cos it goes through quickly and you DO feel hungry quite fast after it).

stripygiraffe · 02/01/2012 10:28

I like the app because I use my iPhone for everything Hmm. I got a second hand PMK book but the CD was missing so I got the app for the trance mainly. The online journal is handy but has annoying technical issues. Wouldn't buy it if you have the trance CD already.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/01/2012 23:27

I went for a nap this afternoon and listened to the CD. I have eaten my dinner, and then 2 chocolates. Nothing else!

I've decided to stay away from the scales until Friday, so that when I weigh the immediate bloat and water retention from too much rich food and far, far too more booze than normal has gone away.

stripy - I think I won't bother with the app then. I read some feedback about it which suggested that there hadn't been any updates or bug fixes for some years which didn't sound great.
