The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT

Morning all again Smile gone quiet hasn't it?

KinkyDoritoHopingForAGreat2012 · 03/01/2012 10:44

It's me that's quiet as I have been using the non-arrival of the book to be greedy.

The book is now here. I will start my reading/listening today.

Deep breath...

I always feel like I'm set up to fail.

MardyBra · 03/01/2012 10:44

Can I join you please. Have Pauled before so know what to do but have never consistently got my head round it. In fact I was on this thread under a different name way way back before lapsing badly. (pm me if you'd like to know).

Have too much weight to lose to contemplate! One stone at a time would be good.

Listened to the trance this morning and will give it two weeks. If n

KinkyDoritoHopingForAGreat2012 · 03/01/2012 10:45

I've been using the non-arrival of the book as an excuse to be greedy.

MardyBra · 03/01/2012 10:46

Oops. Posted before finished. If no progress after two weeks, I'll have to go and eat the synthetic Weight Watchers food, and I really don't want to do that.

MardyBra · 03/01/2012 10:47

Ooh a flurry of activity!

MardyBra · 03/01/2012 10:49

The thing is Kinky, iirc, there's no deprivation in Pauling because you can eat when you're hungry.

stripygiraffe · 03/01/2012 11:16

Welcome Mardy.
Well I am still doing pretty well and definitely not eating the same volume of food that I was before starting PMK BUT I feel I may need to refocus with the speed I am eating at. I am going to really concentrate on slowing down even more and tasting every mouthful.

Does anyone else find that bread pastry products don't taste that great if you chew them loads? I'm hoping this might help to cure me of my bread addiction Wink

I have a rare afternoon without DH or kids so I am going to pinch your idea Alibaba and listen to the trance during the day. I only get the chance at bedtime.

Off to chew, chew, chew! Grin

MardyBra · 03/01/2012 11:23

Thanks for the welcome Stripy.

Yes I remember bread, chips etc being less tasty on PMK.

I might need to read back to remember some more tips.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/01/2012 11:23

Kinky this is where PM is so great, I have really dealt with a lot of my negative thinking around food doing this, which makes me happier and therefore less prone to bingeing. I really need to read the book again and make time to do the visualisations.

Welcome back Mardy Smile Would I know you? I have PM'd since last April/May.

learningtofly · 03/01/2012 21:19

Oh the excitement! The book arrived today!

I started chewing slowly at tea tonight and surprisingly I managed to leave dome mashed potato on the plate and declined seconds.

So its a positive start!

learningtofly · 03/01/2012 21:25

Some not dome! Although normally it would have been an enormous dome of mashed potato! :)

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 03/01/2012 23:47

Dashing in quickly to say hello!! :) welcome (back) Mardy Grin PM me who you were before please!!

Not been a good start, but will get better for sure :)

Moodykat · 04/01/2012 00:20

I would like to give this a go too. Please may I join you all? I don't have a cd player in my room so does the App replace the need for the book and cd?
Thanks!

stripygiraffe · 04/01/2012 07:19

The app has the trance on it and the golden rules but is not as good as the book. Can you buy a second hand copy or borrow it from your library?

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2012 09:38

WAAAY!!! lots of New Year Newbies A Warm welcome to you all Smile and morning to everyone else Smile

Stripey I think you've hit on one of the many secrets and brilliant things about P.M. ;It's almost impossible to eat junk food slowly and consciously because it IS junk!! DH and I indulged ourselves over Xmas with a very expensive stoneground french baguette (we live in Fr. for 6 months a year) so it was REAL! But it had a vile aftertaste so we couldn't finish it.

I've just crisped up some good (non wheat) quality ryvita type crackers and had them with olive oil instead of butter and marmite and pnut butter for breakfast delicious! I don't eat ANY wheat usually and don't miss it at all!!

stripygiraffe · 04/01/2012 13:05

ppeat I'm intrigued by your breakfast idea (love pb). What do you mean by 'crisp up'?

I usually have toast (occasionally a croissant) for breakfast but am finding its like wallpaper paste after all that chewing.

Any ideas for what to have? Cereal is no good as I can't abide soggy cereal so I eat it at light speed. It needs to be quick prep time 5-10 mins max as I have 2 DCs under 4 so mornings are hectic.

Re the junk food: I can enjoy chocolate eaten slowly but I do eat less but crisps are quickly going on my 'not worth it list'.

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2012 14:17

Well stripey you know how ryvitas go a bit sog after the pack has been open? I just pop them in the toaster for a really short time (ours has a grid on top that we use) to crunch them up also it's good to leave them for a couple of mins after toasting to crisp up.

You can get really nice wheat free (rye and spelt, i don't like the gluten free it's got potato flour in it ) bread from Waitrose the big ones have brill varieties and Sainsbos does plain rye. I also soak oats for a muesli type thing and or make porridge with cinnamon, molasses, etc.

MardyBra · 04/01/2012 14:40

Day 2. It might be my imagination but my face feels thinner already. (pity about the big belly though).

HeyNonnyNo · 04/01/2012 14:55

May I join you please? I have lurked a little, had a couple of abortive starts at Paul McK and think maybe a little mutual hand holding may help. His system makes complete sense to me. It addresses the causes of my c.2st to loose. But the causes(emotional eating/ lack of control round chocolate biscuits/mindless eating) seem pretty set in stone. I have yet to manage a whole day Paul McKenna'ing. Time to listen to the CD is hard to come by with 2 very small kids and a lot of my plate (so to speak!).

One thing I wondered, is do you guys fill in the diary in the book? It's indicative of my progress to date, but I suspect I'd need to buy 12 books to have enough diaries to fill in before I crack this! I'm thinking of making my own as a word doc so I can print out further copies...

Sorry if I sound downbeat, I promise to be perkier in future! Much admiration for those of you already doing so well.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/01/2012 15:03

Mardy Grin

stripy - I buy Hovis Wholemeal which we use for toast and sandwiches, and generally have a slice with peanut butter for breakfast with some fruit - this morning dried apricots which hold up very well to lots of chewing.
Or I make my own fruit loaf in the breadmaker and toast that for breakfast - it has eggs, butter and dried fruit in.

MardyBra · 04/01/2012 19:35

Help. DH not home until 9pm and we have a joint thing to go in the oven. Starting to get peckish. Hmm.

stripygiraffe · 04/01/2012 19:55

Mardy I made a roast yesterday and was starving but it was still half an hour til it came out. So I ate something. Just enough to take the edge off. Stopped my blood sugar dipping too much and feeling horrible.

I'm having a hungry day today. Feel a bit guilty to be eating so much.

MissVerinder · 04/01/2012 19:55

Hello, I am back. Was Pauling ages ago, and have completely lost focus over the last 6 months due to changing careers!

Howver, have managed to lose weight in that time, so I'm back to Paul to stay in control now things aren't quite as hectic. Have all the cd's etc downloaded onto my phone, so I'm having a listen tonight.

Heynonny "emotional eating/ lack of control round chocolate biscuits/mindless eating"- me too!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/01/2012 20:08

Eat something small Mardy, just to take the edge off?

Hello Miss Smile
