The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT

Well done to both of you! I think this time of year, not putting anything on is a bit of a triumph. I haven't even dared look!

Has anybody got any ideas what on earth to get my brother for Christmas? At the moment that is taking up way too much of my thought power! How are you both getting on with your Christmas stuff? Are you getting there?

ppeatfruit · 20/12/2011 09:12

Hello everyone!! Xmas Smile just popping in to say i'm back. (after driving back from London through the night we haven't been to bed) we slept a couple of hours in the car, so i'm forcing myself to stay up; get unpacked, feed the 4 cats and birds etc.

solo I'm sorry about yr troubles. It's really great you haven't put on as much as you thought you had and you sound more positive. Could I mention the blood type which would be well worth looking at for yr . health both mental and physical.

BBB my family (the grown ups ) have decided not to do Xmas presents and it's such a relief for all of us. If your brother is a fond uncle maybe a nice photo of yr L.O.s in a frame.

Solo · 20/12/2011 11:28

Hello pp :) did you have a good time?

I should definitely look at the blood type thing, yes.
I do feel better about the weight thing, especially as I have been comfort eating so much, it was a huge surprise that I hadn't gained any more and had, in fact lost 7lbs since my last weigh in.

My SIL wants a magnifying glass and I'm not sure where to get one. Anyone?

BigBaubledBertha · 20/12/2011 12:17

Hi ppeat! Welcome 'back'!! Xmas Smile

Solo - try Hawkins Bazaar if you have one near you, they almost certainly do a cheap and cheerful one that you would be happy to give to children. They still work but they aren't nice metal frames and wooden handles, iykwim. I think I got one for my boys years ago from the Early Learning Centre and it had a little light in it.

Or Boots. I pretty sure they might have them.

I know Hobbycraft have magnifying things for craft work but not the Sherlock Holmes type thing - depends what she wants it for. They might even have the traditional shaped one.

Or failing that, some sort of mobility shop/ disabled equipment place. My Dad has one with a light in as his eye sight is so bad but I suspect they might be expensive.

Solo · 20/12/2011 12:22

That's great Niecie! thank you for the ideas :)

ppeatfruit · 22/12/2011 07:25

Morning all thanks for the welcome! Xmas Smile yes i had a great time in Blighty solo I finally bought some size 8 and 10 M&S clothes I'm STILL loosing and really not trying !!

IMO P.M. gets into your psyche so once 'hooked' you carry on almost unconsciously it's got to be the best way ever hasn't it?

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 22/12/2011 23:30

8 and 10 clothes?! Xmas Envy

BigBaubledBertha · 23/12/2011 00:07

ppeat you'd better stop soon or you'll disappear!!! Xmas Grin

Seriously though, well done! Good job it is nearly the January sales - you are going to have to buy a new wardrobe at this rate.

What size did you start out at? (please don't say 12 - say something motivational like at least 16 Xmas Grin)

AliBellandthe40jingles · 23/12/2011 00:20

Ppeat that is amazing, well done you! Grin

I may have scoffed a few mincepies earlier. My mum makes her own mincemeat, and then pies from that. Yum, yum, yum.

ppeatfruit · 23/12/2011 09:13

AAh you're all so lovely thank you!!!!Yeah BBB I'm not trying any more Xmas Shock!! solo they didn't have everything in 8 and lets face it M&S 8s are more like (before vanity sizing) 10s aren't they? When I started I was approaching a 16 I think!!!

Like you Ali I've had a few M&S classy mince pies which are SOOO nice but make me feel tired the next day it's the wheat which I don't generally eat. (I used to make them but my pastry doesn't approach M&S's!!!!) Xmas Grin HAVE A FABBY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!! Xmas Smile

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 23/12/2011 23:01

Merry Christmas everyone! xxx

BigBaubledBertha · 24/12/2011 12:00

Merry Christmas to you too Solo and to the everybody else too. Hope it is a good one.

(Can't promise not to post again but thought I would just say before I disappear up to Sainsburys, potentially never to be seen this side of Boxing Day!!! Wish me luck!!)

BigBaubledBertha · 24/12/2011 12:01

Oooh I meant to do at least one of these since their time of usefulness is drawing to a close. Xmas GrinXmas Grin xx

KinkyDoritoWithFairyLightsOn · 26/12/2011 16:04

I am very big and need to sort myself out. I tried PM a while ago but didn't stick with it. I'm tempted to have another bash - I was just curious as to what people had managed to lose doing this and whether it has honestly changed your attitude to food?

I'm around 15st and should be 11st.

ppeatfruit · 27/12/2011 09:41

Kinky you are very welcome!! I have lost nearly 3 stone (maybe gained a few over chrimbo though!!Xmas Smile) I don't weigh I just can tell from my clothes.

Yes it really does change yr attitude both mentally esp. if you listen to the `C.D's a lot and physically becuase it makes it impossible to overeat (you go into a 'I hate that food I literally cannot eat a bit more' mode when you've eaten enough!!)

ppeatfruit · 27/12/2011 09:46

Hello everyone!!!! I hope you all had a good christmas!

eandz · 27/12/2011 17:32

...but, but, but-- I thought I used to follow these rules before!

Okay, I'll go buy the book and come back in a moment.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 27/12/2011 18:49

Hello everybody! I hope we have all had a lovely Christmas? Mine was good, apart from the blazing row with my brother last night... but we have smoothed things over today, so back on an even keel emotionally :)

Today is my last day of knowingly ignoring the PM rules, tomorrow I am back on wagon.

BigBaubledBertha · 27/12/2011 18:58

eandz I think the trick is to listen to the CD. It is something I am not very good at but ppeat has been and Solo who lost quite a lot with this technique.

I fully intend to be better from now on as I have a new phone for Christmas and the capacity to down load it now so now excuses from me!

Hope everybody had a good Christmas. All the work and planning ..... can't believe it is over now for another year. I wish it lasted longer!! Xmas Smile

BigBaubledBertha · 27/12/2011 18:58

no excuses obviously!!

KinkyDoritoWithFairyLightsOn · 27/12/2011 19:04

I've ordered the book again. I intend to give it a shot. I feel so fed up with my weight and out of control; I just hope I can get to grips with it.

ppeatfruit · 28/12/2011 09:54

Actually BB i don't listen THAT much i spose once every 2 weeks or so and I don't put headphones on just listen on the old fashioned music centre with my feet up in peace and have a lovely doze during the day!! I know it's not easy with anyone in the house. I always listen to the "secrets of thin people' C.D.

Oh morning all! Nice to get back to normal though isn't it?

ppeatfruit · 28/12/2011 09:56

Welcome eandz and kinky we're here to help aren't we BB?

SingleSoloShattersSparklyStars · 28/12/2011 12:19

Hello everyone :)

I will be back on wagon (properly!!!) from January 2nd as I'm sure we'll probably have a big meal on NYD at Mums.

Didn't end up with everyone at mine Christmas day as I just completely wore myself out. We all went to Mums for dinner. Db was in a mood and youngest niece was all sad and morose as she missed my Dad and I totally understand that,^ but it brought the mood down further...

Laptop is playing up, so wont try to write more, but I hope you all had a lovely day.

Welcome new Paulers. It does work, so dive in.

OrmIrian · 28/12/2011 12:22
