Wow that sounds like a great idea alfiemama. Can you imagine taking that to a restaurant though or even eating with the family at home. You could drive everybody else mad with your button pressing. Grin

Or you could all do it together - eat at the same pace. Synchronised dinner time.

If I ever get a clever phone that uses apps (please Santa - flutters eyelashes) I might well get that as eating slowly is my difficulty.

alfiemama · 01/12/2011 15:26

Grin ooh yes, I didn't think of that one, she says as she bats ds1 away whilst eating her butty.

Note to self only use in private otherwise will look like a madwoman. Tis very good though.

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2011 07:26

Morning everyone? I know i'm a bit of a anti techie (just another thing to loose and panic over) IMO and E Grin i'm talking about DH of course. But why is it so hard to count your chews? You can do it silently and NO ONE NEED EVER KNOW !!!!

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2011 07:30

I didn't mean to put a question mark after everyone !!! Xmas Smile OOOOOh I'm the first to use the xmas smiley !!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 02/12/2011 21:08

It is hard to count because it is very easy to get distracted - I can't just sit and eat. If I am alone I read and if I with others then obviously they are a distraction.

If you have an app then at least you are being distracted by something useful and relevant. It would just be a way of staying focussed because generally eating is too boring to stay focused just for the sake of it.

You can tell I am a eat-to-live kinda girl rather than a live-to-eat girl, can't you? Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 02/12/2011 23:41

I agree it is almost impossible to focus on number of chews. Mealtimes are so distracted here, and they always seem to be hurried. DH and I shovel ours in, inbetween making sure DS2 isn't choking and trying to get DS1 to sit still long enough to eat anything. Tbh if I was pressing a button that many times I would never eat any actual food Grin

Bad couple of days here, I've been poorly (mastitis), and it is cold and my body just wants to stuff carbs and go into hibernation. We have a nice weekend planned though, so I am re-focussing as of now Xmas Smile

BBB - phones that do apps are a dreadful time sink, I love mine!

ppeatfruit · 03/12/2011 09:53

Morning all Xmas Smile i do keep forgetting that you've got littleys! actually it's amazing you're doing this at all esp. as my DD2 reckons she can't do it 'cos she hasn't got a dinner tableXmas Hmm and she has no DCs !!! Enjoy yr. weekends!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 03/12/2011 10:40

Mine aren't that little ppeat - 11 and 8.Xmas Blush Mind you, DS1 has dyspraxia so it is always feeding time at the zoo with him around. Hmm I end up sounding like a drill sergeant - sit up, don't use your fingers, put your arm down, eat with your mouth closed, hold your knife/fork/spoon properly - everything you would say to a 5 yr old, I am still saying. He is getting better but it is a long slog and he keeps finding new things to annoy me with and to disregard basic table manners. Xmas Blush And then of course DS2 will go unnoticed until I realise he is doing something equally bad!

Anyway, not helpful when you are trying to concentrate on the food but at least I don't actually have to feed them anymore!

Alibaba - hope you are feeling better today. Mastitis sounds nasty. Sad

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 03/12/2011 11:04

I am a lot better today, despite very little sleep because DS2 is now poorly

We are off to buy a Christmas tree today - yay! Xmas Grin

ppeatfruit · 04/12/2011 09:49

Morning all Xmas Smile Good you're better Ali your DS1 sounds like hard work BB! We've ordered our tree and collect in the last week before Xmas; it's great 'cos we can go and look and decide if we want one with roots or without, last year I managed to kill the one we got with roots Xmas Blush.

Hey I keep forgetting to tell you I've lost another 7lbs without trying only by giving up avocadoes!!! I'm going to have to stop 'cos all my clothes are now too big!!!

OrmIrian · 04/12/2011 11:16

Morning.

My book was about a tenner from Amazon. How much would it cost me to get Mr McKenna to come round to me place and shout 'stop putting food in your mouth' a few times? Hmm

I am eating a lot less than I was but I am dubious as to whether it's enough less to lose any further weight. Ah well.... i don't reckon I will put any on.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 04/12/2011 11:33

Orm I will split the cost with you and he can visit alternate weeks or something! Grin

Better day yesterday, although I can feel myself sliding towards the 'sod it, its Christmas' mindset which won't do at all.

Ppeat - well done! Grin

OrmIrian · 04/12/2011 11:57

Ooh yes, well done ppeat!

Grin
ppeatfruit · 04/12/2011 14:03

Thanks a lot!!Xmas Smile It'll be worth it Orm just you wait!

BigBoobiedBertha · 05/12/2011 22:38

Hello, how are you all?

I unfortunately, have a cold. A proper one with snot and a tickly throat and everything. I can't remember the last time I had a proper cold. Probably years ago.

Never one to do things by half - why have one thing wrong with you when you can have two that just add a bit of excitement - I pulled my neck last week and now have a sore shoulder and an aching arm. It is OK in certain positions and painful in others but there is a little extra reminder that all is not well when I cough or sneeze so I look like an old woman clutching my arm and shoulder and hunching up in an effort not to make the pain worse. Just what I need. Xmas Hmm Thankfully it doesn't last long but annoying all the same.

But apart from that I feel OK in myself except my body is certainly feeling the need to feed a cold. I am fighting it at the moment but the temptation is strong to eat stodge.Xmas Blush

ppeat - well done on your extra loss. Sounds like you have reached your limits. How great is that?! Especially when you have to buy more clothes. Xmas Smile

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 05/12/2011 22:58

BBB - there is a rotter of a bug going around here isn't there? We've all had it, half DS1's preschool class were off last Monday. Look after yourself :)

ppeatfruit · 06/12/2011 08:15

Mornin all Thanks BB Xmas Grin It's funny about clothes though I s'pose it's because my weight goes up and down I don't want to throw out my older still good stuff.

Hope you feel better soon A really good sore throat beater is a hot honey and fresh lemon juice and fresh ginger or a ginger Tbag drink.

Ali Yes we've got that bleedin' bug here (in Fr.) as well.

OrmIrian · 06/12/2011 11:01

Morning.

Sorry you are ill bertha. I have a cold and streaming eyes (for some reason!) but as usual it hasn't got worse than 'just a cold' so I can't take time off work

Down another lb today. 169lb. BMI of 23.59. Ideally I'd like to get BMI down to 21 - that was where I felt at my best so another 12lbs. Ha ha ha!

BigBoobiedBertha · 06/12/2011 12:13

Nice one OrmIrian. Xmas Smile You could be at your target by the end of January all being well and allowing for a bit of a lapse or at least a easing off of the effort for Christmas. Well done!

Yes it is a very wet cold this one. I have watery eyes too. Can't say I am bunged up, just constantly dripping (gross I know) and certainly not ill enough to suspend normal duties.

Alibaba - have you all managed to avoid the tummy bug over your side of town? There is one going round the schools at the moment but I suppose there always is this time of year. Usually DS2 gets it for Christmas Is your DS2 feeling better? He wasn't so well over the weekend was he? Poor little thing. Horrible when they are ill and can't tell you about it, isn't it?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 06/12/2011 13:03

Well done Orm!

BBB - so far we've avoided the tummy bug I ended up taking DS2 to the Drs yesterday because he was all wheezy and so we've got an inhaler and a spacer for him - not easy to administer to an 8 month old that just wants to shove everything in his mouth!!
It does seem to be helping though, he slept better last night and is flaked out in his buggy as we speak.

ppeat - I hope the bug is avoiding you personally, it is yucky.

I don't feel 100%, a bit of a sore throat, a bit snuffly. Bleugh. I have got the fire on, and the Christmas tree lights on though, and I'm drinking a lovely latte that DH made me. Yum.

ppeatfruit · 07/12/2011 09:10

Morning folks !! IKWYM ALi DH is still terrible with it 'cos he hasn't changed his lifestyle but I've fought it and am just coughing more than I usually do. I don't want to sound like yr dotty granny or auntie!! . But I don't eat dairy which is a good idea when you've got the viruses and the wheezes it could well help yr DS2. Wish you all better Xmas Smile

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2011 06:54

Morning everyone! Anyone? hope you're all feeling better now.

BigBaubledBertha · 09/12/2011 09:09

Bit slow this week isn't it ppeat?!

I am a bit better although I sound really rough - a marvellous excuse not to do things I don't want to do, if I ever need one. Oh listen to me can't you tell I'm ill!! Xmas Grin

Not having the best week but it seems to be that time of the month again (always comes round way to quickly) which explains the rumbling stomach I had at 10.00 last night even though I had eaten a hearty tea. Was really weird.

Hope everybody is doing OK. Only 2 more weeks to go until the big day. What is everybody planning?

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2011 11:19

BBB yep it's slow! Xmas Smile. I know that bug leaves you with a throat like sandpaper for quite a while doesn't it? I don't eat after 8 and if I do then the next day I'm hungry later, it's weird the way our bodies work

We're off to london this Sunday for a week or so (in a car without A.C. and heating) Xmas Shock 'cos it'll be mended in England and having a brunch for all the family on the Sunday before 'cos DD2 and her boyf are going away for 7 weeks on Xmas eve.

DD1 will join us back in France on Thurs. and a quiet Xmas will be had here with a neighbour who's on his own at Xmas (he's fun; an ex priest who left the church 'cos he got a parishioner up the duff)!.

And yours B?

BigBaubledBertha · 10/12/2011 12:20

Come on everybody, where are you?!

There are dangerous times coming up - we need to keep our Pauling hats firmly on our heads if we are to navigate our way through the Christmas excesses and not come out the other side of it larger than we went in. Don't leave me and ppeat all by ourselves!! Xmas Grin

Hope you are all OK and haven't be struck down by a lurgy.
