silvery !! Welcome back Smile have you tried my muffin top busting exercise yet? it's much easier than crunches and sit ups and is highly effective too! Also remember this is not a diet as such we don't CONSCIOUSLY cut down our food intake it just happens and you crave (or you should)healthy food so how about taking a snack pack of macadamias, sultanas etc. or whatever and an apple or pear with you.

Bigboob yes i was wondering where Solo is as well.

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2011 09:19

silvery that 's a snack pack for snack time and maybe pnut butter sandwiches and carrots and celery for lunch? or dips. On P.M. we don't ignore our hunger we always eat when we're hungry but SLOWLY and chew 15 to 20 times. That way a crispy apple can actually fill you up !!

OrmIrian · 23/11/2011 09:42

6lbs!

Gone.

And I know I'm not supposed to weight myself so soon. But I needed a little confidence boost that it was going to work. Scales now relegated to understairs cupboard as I can feel sure that I am doing the right thing.

SilveryMoon · 23/11/2011 10:45

Yeah, I know. I don't like nuts or raisens, saltanas or anything like that.
I actually like very little healthy foods.
What the muffin top busting exercise?

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2011 12:33

Congratulations Omirian You're getting there !! Silvery Belly and or muffin busting exercise;-

1.Lie flat on a firm surface (I do this on my bed which has a solid mattress).

  1. With yr. arms by yr side (and you can put them above yr. head as you get better at this). Just raise yr head for 3 or 4cms. but KEEPING YR. HEAD IN LINE WITH YR. SPINE. Keep it up for 5 secs or so.
  1. Do it 3 or 4 times morning and evening. It helps you sleep if you do it just before bed and you can actually feel the muscles burning fat all night !!!

Also

  1. When lying flat bring yr right hand up sort of massaging from below yr. right ribcage and following beneath the ribcage up to yr solar plexus.
  1. Do the same with yr left hand on the other side.
  1. Do it 3 times morning and evening

Also

  1. Keep pulling yr belly muscles in counting to 20 all day!!
BigBoobiedBertha · 23/11/2011 14:56

Well done OrmIrian! 6lbs is a massive loss! I bet you are feeling goooood today! Smile

TBH, I wouldn't get hung up on not weighing yourself to often. If you find it motivational or you think you might slide if you don't weigh yourself then do so. If you don't want to weight more often then that is fine too.

I read recently that weighing daily has been shown to help people keep the weight off. After all you may have no idea if are heading in the right direction unless you weigh, especially if you are anything like me. It take over a stone before I notice any difference in my clothes and it was ever thus. Even at my skinniest I still wore size 14 bottoms and I was well below my target weight and slap bang in the middle of a healthy BMI then so I can't go on the size of my clothes (Big pear-shaped arse unfortunately, damn geneticsSmile). Even if you only have to gain or lose 6lbs to notice a difference in your clothes, I would still rather know if I was gaining before I put on nearly half a stone!

That said, I don't weigh myself daily and it tends to get less frequent the more badly I am doing so weighing for me is a good thing! In short, do what you want so long as it is only once a day, in the same place with the same type of clothes on and you don't do it obsessively morning and night.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/11/2011 17:48

Orm that is fantastic, well done! Grin

ppeat - your ribcage one relies on me being able to find my ribcage GrinWink

BBB - I also find that things go wrong if don't weigh regularly.

I have Pauled really well today, and forgotten about food for large chunks of the day.

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2011 11:29

I've go one for that very problem! ALI Smile I'm not kidding they're acupressure and work very well.

Okay; lie flat although it can be done standing up (I vaguely remember giving this one before and you trying them! am i right? Anyway to recap;-

You twist your hips to the right and your shoulders and head obviously !! to the left, while there, gently massage with yr. fingertips (in a facing out praying type position) up from groin to solar plexus. then you repeat the opposite way. do it fairly slowly. Do 3 times in the morning and 3 times in evening.

It seems weird at first but you gradually get better and it's brill for waist definition

SilveryMoon · 25/11/2011 17:27

Thanks PP Smile
Hoping I am understanding the exercises right and won't do them wrong!

Gonna have a naughty night as I've had a horrid day.

How is everyone else

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 25/11/2011 17:57

Hi everyone, good day here. We went out for lunch and I only had a main and didn't hoover up the DS's leftovers or anything. No snacks this afternoon either, and DH is currently cooking a lovely stirfry.

Solo my lovely where are you? Hope everything is ok x

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2011 08:29

Morning all Smile I've got a bit of a cough and sore throat which is not like me and BTW I saw solo on Delia Smith's live chat yesterday so she's alright just maybe having a break from us eh Ali!

BigBoobiedBertha · 26/11/2011 11:42

Oh that doesn't bode well - a Delia live chat?! All that food talk has to make you peckish!! Grin

Doing OK here too. I think I might be down 2lb but will hold offer making it official until I have weighed again on Monday - weighing at the end of a week is deceptive ime. The in-laws are here so rushing around like a blue arsed whatsit anyway which always helps with the fat burning! DH is also performing with his choral society this evening so the last few days have meant odd eating times to fit with his rehearsal and that has meant I have been eating before I am ravenous and eat too much or I have no time for 'get me through to dinnertime' snacks.

We also went out to lunch yesterday and had chips so I did have one big meal but didn't have much for tea so I feel a bit virtuous. Would be a laugh if we were at the same place Alibaba! There was a woman there with a baby of about 8mths so it might have been you. No 3 yr old though. And 2 labrodors(sp?).

ppeat - hope you feel better soon.Smile

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2011 09:28

Thanks BB morning Smile hope yr weight loss is what you expect tomorrow! Am on the mend today but I actually spent most of yesterday in front of the wood burner with my feet up watching day time T.V. !!!!Shock DH was sort of looking after me. It's when you're ill that you don't miss having L.O.s aroundGrin But that with my recipe for natural A.B.'s and echinacea capsules have done the trick and I'm still maintaining my M&S size 10 so i'm happySmile

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 28/11/2011 22:36

Hi guys, do you mind if I join you?

I used to do this, but then fell off the wagon and now eat much too fast and don't savour every bite.

Having said that, I still find it impossible to continue eating once I'm full, and only eat when I'm hungry, so those parts of his training seem to be still with me.

But when I put on a couple of pounds I do find myself thinking 'I mustn't eat that' etc.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/11/2011 23:37

Hello mychild Smile come on in.

Bad day today, definitely some sabotaging going on but I am not sure why.

PP - I attempted some muffin top slaying earlier. When you do it, does your midsection actually leave the ground? Because mine didn't.

DS1 was looking at me like this Hmm

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2011 06:41

Morning and a big welcome to Mychild! Smile Ref. muffin top killer ex. Ali No only your head and top of your body (sorry I didn't make that clear did I? )but it all must stay in a line don't poke yr head forward or drop it back. get yr DS to join in; it's good at giving you a 6 pack!!

Have you looked at the 25% thread? they all ignored my bringing up the "normal diets make you fat" that P.M. says and I deffo believe.

Solo · 29/11/2011 11:35

Still here.

OrmIrian · 29/11/2011 11:40

Hello everyone.

Nothing off since last week but can't say I am bovvered! I realise I have actually lost a stone now since the beginning of the year without really trying (last 6lbs since I started doing this). I think coming off ADs helped TBH - the last year or so on them I was feeling like a huge heavy sag of spuds and with about as much energy Grin

Still can't do any of the visualisation. I try it and then get all anxious and stressed because I am not doing it right Confused I think I will leave it for now.

I am eating a great deal less than I was before - no doubt of that. And I am competing with the dog when we go out for a walk - I walk as fast as I can so that the lead goes slack instead of him always pulling. Then he just turns and gives me an excited look as if to say 'ooh are we having a race?' and speeds up again! Grin I will never beat him - he's got 4-wheel drive.

I am really enjoying this! It's not like a 'diet' (I bloody hate them after years of letting them bully me!) and I wake up each day with a sense of expectation.

Solo · 29/11/2011 11:43

Orm diets don't workk anyway! so you are in the right place and visualisation will come with practise.

BigBoobiedBertha · 29/11/2011 12:32

Solo! You're back. How are you?!

Orm - instead of visualisation of some furture image of yourself that is difficult to imagine, how about digging out an oldish (not too old because we can't get young again even if we can get thin!) but flattering photo of yourself and use that as your visualisation? It would save casting around for a thought in your head - maybe try that again when you are nearer your target and it isn't so hard to imagine the end product?

The other visualisation I try and conjure up is one of those hall of mirror images of myself - you know where the mirror distorts your shape and you end up being 2 ft tall and 3ft wide - that is a motivator in itself - I never want to get that sort of proportion!. I prefer the one that makes you tall and thin. It is a while since I have been to that sort of thing so that image is getting hazy.

The 2lb stayed off over the weekend so I am pleased about that. The in-laws were here this weekend - they eat the most enormous breakfast that would make me want to puke and then one other enormous meal a day (more than I can eat in 2 sittings let alone one) and then spend all the rest of the day saying they couldn't eat another thing and eating cake at every opportunity. Hmm They are nice PIL by the way - I am lucky with them but they have an odd relationship with food, especially MIL who tries to healthy eat one minute and makes you feel bad for daring to have chips once in a blue moon or crisps with a sandwich and then eats all this cake like it has no calories.

Anyway, they always make me want to rebel and eat crap so I am fighting the 'yay, they've gone home I can eat what I like' rebel backlash now but hopefully that will wear off soon and I can get back to focussing like I did last week. So far so good today but I am finding myself trying to decide what I want for lunch a lot of the time even though I am not actually hungry yet. Weird. Hmm

Solo · 29/11/2011 12:40

I'm Ok Niecie :) just got some crap going on and I didn't want to depress the thread with it all.

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2011 15:18

OOOOh solo sorry you've got some badstuff going on I hope it gets sorted soon; I have just said hello to you on the Dan Lepard live chat!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 01/12/2011 10:10

Happy December everyone! Grin

I am doing ok here, not spending too much time thinking about food which is the key for me it seems.

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2011 11:17

Hello everyone and Hi Ali Smile i won't tell you about the Christmas pudding zabaglione ice cream I've just made for Christmas dinner, it smells divine but i didn't lick the bowl!!

alfiemama · 01/12/2011 11:41

Hi ladies.
I've just found a great app, which is very PM style. 80 bites, you have the press a button with every bite and it warns you if your eating too fast but also an alarm bell rings to tell you to stop and that your putting on lbs, I'm going to give it a go as portion control is a biggy for me.
