Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

I seem more focused because I have had to cut our food budget more than I would like, so planning meals and bulking them out with veg, rather than dropping into the shop on a whim and buying pizza and a bottle of wine, is working for me this week. I have alread done my shopping list for Wednesday and the new meal plan from Thursday onwards (while I have interesting meals to mind), once I get stuck in a rut with ideas, and get sick of cooking, I may lose motivation a bit. It is a pain having to plan for DH too (as he mainly has EE or red days, where I am happy with green and EE). He is loving it as all he has to do is sit down and a meal appears for him to eatHmm I keep leaving the cookbooks around in the hope he will have a look, but he seems to have caught idle-itis.

the chicken and veg curry was a bit odd (the fromage frais split when I added it), but it tasted OK, and there's loads left (even though the recipe says serves 4 - I think - all 5 of us had it and I have frozen enough for 2 very generous servings). As I was stuck in the kitchen I put the effort in and made fragrant carrot and mushroom pilau rice too, which was delish, and I have a little bit left for a green day snackSmile

helping in school tomorrow morning, I'm planning a green day, as follows -
B: porridge
L: plain jacket potato and salad, yogurt
T: cottage pie (beef as HEB) bulked out with green lentils and veg, with extra steamed veg.
and lots of fruit.

kid · 16/10/2011 21:20

I've not been meal planning and I have been snacking as and when I want to.
I figure that as I've not been eating proper full meals, I may have some syns to spare.
I was feeling better this afternoon but am feeling rough again now. Maybe its the thought of going to work tomorrow?
I think I'll have a bath shortly and maybe some paracetamol.

Sorry to hear about your car failing its MOT. Its such a pain having to put a car through that each year, I get nervous everytime we get ours done.
I took my car in for its first MOT on Saturday (its 3 years old so needed its first MOT) I'm relieved that it passed with flying colours. (Its only done 11,000 miles) I don't think we would have got it repaired if it had failed.

I might make something nice for tomorrows lunch, not that I want to go to work.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/10/2011 21:33

ria (or anyone else) - what do you put on your jacket potato to make it moist and tasty? The other day I had one with tuna and stuff, but was trying to go easy on mayo due to sins, and it was a bit bland tbh.

kid · 16/10/2011 21:46

baked beans
I can't take a jacket potato to work as it would take too long to cook in microwave at work and it would be cold if I cooked it before I went.
I wonder how it would taste if I cooked it before I went and then heated it up?

Suppose I really should go and have that bath now, the internet is too addictive!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/10/2011 22:41

Oh I often cook extra baked potatoes and then warm them through in micro another day - they are just fine :).
I hate beans with JP.

Slinkenstein · 17/10/2011 07:54

CSWs - do you like cheese triangles? I use Laughing Cow Lights on my jp's.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/10/2011 07:59

I can't have any dairy slink, due to breastfed ds2's intolerance Sad.

grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 08:21

Good morning everybody!

Jp's... mostly I sling beans on them, but another good way to make them nice is to mix a bit of ff fromage frais in it (although not if you have to be dairy free Sad) and some wholegrain mustard (synned of course). Erm, what about a few spoons of quorn chilli or something like that?

Good luck today Kid if you're back at work. Hope you're feeling ok.

The new magazine has some nice ideas in it. Sweet potato fritters being one, and a butter chicken recipe in the calendar supplement too being another. Need to have a good peruse when I get the chance!

Not much to report. No-one died or was seriously injured during dinner yesterday with Mil, so that was good Wink.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Not sure... maybe pork meatballs in a spicy onion and tomato sauce with brocolli

Sofabitch · 17/10/2011 08:24

Morning. I always have beans on my jacket potatoes. Sometime I add chilli powder for a change or I buy chilli beans or mix beans. Lol a lot of beans. If I haven't put on tonight it will be a miracle. Lol. But yesterday was good and today is looking good as well.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/10/2011 08:26

Right I'm back. Had a crap weekend for a variety of reasons but am back and ready to diet.
Can some one else do the list on weds as ive got a busy day-thanks.

Will catch ip on thread later:
Food:
B: weetabix (heb)
L: jp and beans
D: prawn stirfry with rice.
I'm going to be syn free for a couple of days to combat all the eating over the weekend.

grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 08:29

Oh poo. Ever wished you'd not looked at something?

Just found out that H lied about the bar tab he had. He told me it was £48. Nope, it was £191. Sad This just confirms he is drinking when he says he is working, and I am stuck here looking after the dc.

If I say anything it'll get denied, and I'll be in trouble. What a catch 22 situation. No wonder we don't have any bloody money Angry

Sorry for the rant. No-one to talk to in real life.

OP posts:
grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 08:29

I'll do it for you Cheese, no probs.

OP posts:
MadameBoo · 17/10/2011 09:38

Oh hell's bells Zombee :( Am just off to work but didn't want to read and run. Is there any way you can broach the subject with him? Or is there anyone else that can talk to him?

Wil try and pop back later from work.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/10/2011 09:48

Oh blimey bee. Thats a bit crap. What a lot of money. Can you try and talk to him? What do you mean by I'll be in trouble?

grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 10:01

Thanks Boo I really shouldn't moan about it here. It is a weight loss thread after all... (I just asked him though, and he told me it was a mistake, and was for another person of the same first name - make of that what you will).

Time for a cuppa soon I think.

OP posts:
grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 10:05

Sorry Cheese I x-posted. I don't mean anything violent, just shouting, moodiness and general unpleasantness.

Now, back to nice things!

Going to make a lovely hot cuppa, and trawl ebay for some curtains. And I must get the pork mince out of the freezer, or it will be nothing for tea tonight!

OP posts:
Slinkenstein · 17/10/2011 12:13

Oh bee, sorry to hear that, not good at all. I think you've got to say something though, it's really not acceptable, especially if you and the dc's are suffering. Hope you enjoyed your tea and trawl though.

My weekend was ok-ish, considering we had the dss (I always fall in to the trap of "oh, we haven't seen him for two weeks, let's get a load of junk food in!"). Had friends over on Saturday night and I had salad instead of pizza, and a small meringue nest with strawberries and raspberries rather than the hot chocolate brownie and ice-cream - result! Didn't manage to resist some wine (and some nachos), but hey, you gotta treat yourself sometimes.

Off for a third viewing of the house we like later, this time with my (builder/carpenter) Dad. Fingers crossed we pin down our purchaser this week as he has upped his offer so we're going to accept Grin. If all goes well we could move by Christmas...but must not allow myself to get toooo excited as know we're a long way off.

MadameBoo · 17/10/2011 13:03

I'm glad you clarified the bit about being in trouble Bee it worried me too.

grimRiaper · 17/10/2011 14:36

sounds exciting slinky, fingers crossed.

AngryandSad for you bee, my DH has been known to do twunty things like that in the past. Hope you can sort him out. Hope you found your curtains - what are you looking for?

I am grumpy. DS1 threw up all over the bathroom this morning, 7.30am - already dressed to catch the bus, so his uniform is dirty without him going anywhere. I sent him back to bed, and managed to avoid a full-on puking session myself while I tidied up the bits he'd missed. He has just had soup. Hope it stays put. He is trying to convince me he is not ill.

Pants morning. Class TA off sick so I had a whole group on my own in the TA room. Which was fine, one of the children did a lovel pattern, so I got them to move it onto a different table for the teacher to see when she came to check... another TA came in with a group from a different class and pulled the piece of paper out from under my childs pattern and messed it upSad. No apology, she didn't even ask if it was work, just she needed that piece of paper and she was having, sod the children. Evil cow. DH says I should have told her she had ruined a childs work, but I don't dare.

DH didn't cook the JPs as I asked him to do on the note I left him (as he was in bedwhen I left), so I have just wasted an hour cooking and eating lunch. I synned low-fat margarine and had it with peppers and celery. Not keen on fillings in JPs as I don't really like them, but can just about stand them with steak and salad or chilli. I may make a quorn chilli this week.

Feel a bit crappy, finally got hideous TOTM. Have the beginnings of a sniffly cold. Could kill for a pizzaBlush. Probably will change tonights meal to SW chips, quorn burger (please tell me they are free?) and beans, as DS1 only wants soup, DS3 had a roast for school dinner, and DS2 won't eat cottage pie if the others aren't...

sorry for long postBlush

grinningzombee · 17/10/2011 15:40

Ria Sad that the work was spoiled. And Angry too. Some people are so flaming rude. Hope ds is feeling better soon. Sicky bugs are very unpleasant all round.

Quorn burgers - what sort have you got my lovely? Beef and red onion style are free, ordinary frozen ones are 1/2 each. Other sorts are anything up to 2 1/2 each, so still not bad at all. If you let me know which they are I can tell you exactly.

H has decided to take tomorrow off to go out on a "lads day out" for his friends' birthday. I have told him he is not to come home (he can drink anything up to 30 pints on one of these - not what I want the dc to see the result of), so after taking him in the morning I will not see him until Wednesday night. I am taking the dc to the toy shop, and am going to treat them to some puzzles or something. I will resist the urge to buy a pizza and slab of dairy milk for myself.

Curtains... I bought a value Homebase pole, as I am fed up of having our current "curtains" pegged up. They are something his mum donated us. Think 60's orange colour. And they are actually that old. So, I want some nice 66x54 eyelet ones, and red would be nice. Seen some on the Tesco website (£23 but out of stock), but also trying ebay to see if they are cheaper.

Sorry for the massive post. I am a smidge cheesed off today, and need to natter!

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/10/2011 16:34

THink I am back in the diet zone, feeling a bit better about things.

bee - you had me worried for a bit. Can he really drink 30pints, blimey. That is a lot of beer - and money - down the drain!
Ria I would have had a word too, you need to stand up for those kids!
slink hope the viewing goes Ok. We are also viewing a house later. I don't think it will be much good, but want to check it out.

grimRiaper · 17/10/2011 16:37

I'm with you on the cheesed off bee, and I don't blame you with your opinion and plans for you and the DC tomorrow. My DH is an idle git today. Plus he seems to think my bank account is endlessHmm. He has finally cut the grass, and boy don't we know it. If he is in so much pain that he has to make us miserable, maybe he should feck off to bed and leave me and the boys in peace. I am sick of his mood swingsSad.

typical I have the frozen quorn burgers, I plan to have 2, so that'll be 1 syn plus the low fat spread from lunch. Probably the most syns I've had all week (apart from Saturday). am going to have a pasta and sauce in a mintue as I am frozen from the school run, and I am craving chocolate and -pizza and wine

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/10/2011 16:49

We are off to a halloween party on 31st (clearly!). Is this too boy0ish for Isobel?

halloween

kid · 17/10/2011 20:23

I'm currently curled up on the settee feeling sorry for myself. I hate being ill, I just want to feel normal again. I had to skip gym class again tonight as I'm really not up to it.
ds went to a friends house after school but I got a phone call a couple of hours later to say he had vomited so I had to pick him up.
He went to bed as soon as he got in and will probably stay there till the morning.

I'm on my phone (as usual) so can't do personal messages as I'm too forgetful!

grimRiaper · 17/10/2011 21:46

awww cheese, that's gorgeous. Not too boyish.

hope you feel better soon kid.

feeling a bit pants too. clinging on to the diet efforts with my fingertips just now.

watching the hotel inspector... DH and I could run a fabulous hotel together!
