Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

Morning all Smile

No jaffa cakes today, although did have a pancake as I was cooking them for DC breakfast Blush. It'll be no wine 'til Christmas for me at this rate.

You don't seem your usual chirpy self today cheese, hope you are OK.
Is DD on better form now?

Ria what's panhagarty? I've got carrots and swede and sausages and am wondering if we should be having it with panhagarty or do all of those ingredients somehow combine to create panhagarty?
I like the sound of it the more I hear it, panhagarty, panhagarty, panhagarty.....sounds a bit Halloweeny actually [hgrin]

Anyway, enough panhagarty need to do house blitz whilst DS2 snoozes.

kid · 14/10/2011 12:06

2 hours and 20 minutes left of working in nursery and counting every single minute of it! The children are lovely but I am feeling so ill. I'm not even able to eat my lunch. Hopefully I'll get through the afternoon without puking or passing out.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/10/2011 12:32

Oh kid hope you feel better soon.
lake nah, I am not. I am bone tired and a bit fed up. DD is a nightmare at the moment. I am hoping she will snap out of it - those front 2 teeth have a lot to answer for. Haha!
Envy of pancakes. Will make DD some tomorrow maybe!

Panhagarty does halloweeny

grimRiaper · 14/10/2011 14:25

hope you feel better soon kid.

DH makes a very elaborate panhagarty on his veggie menu (when he is working somewhere posh enough) but I found a recipe in the SW best ever recipes book. It says it is from Northumberland (which figures as my mum used to make something with a similar name when I was a kid, involving potatoes, bacon and onions).

Pan Haggerty -
serves 4, free on green

1kg potates, peeled, roughly chopped and par-boiled
400g shredded cabbage
2 large eggs, beaten
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 thinly sliced onions

Add cabbage to par-boiled potatoes, allow to cool (if potatoes still hot I suppose). Add eggs, garlic, onions, seasoning and mix thoroughly.
Preheat oven to 180C. Spray ovenproof dish with frylight, and press potato mixture into it to form a smooth "cake". Bake for 25-30 mins or until golden.

I expect the boys will hate it, but I'm quite looking forward to it.

grimRiaper · 14/10/2011 14:27

woo-hoo. My mum's recipe is on here pan-aggy but minus the cheese... I may treat DH and the boys to it next week!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/10/2011 19:14

Sounds nice ria we'll be trying that.forgot to say that of course I'll post you some money - it won't be much but every little helps.

Here's an image to entertain you or make you sick! Me naked just out showerd, DD and dh lying on the bed. She's crying so I start singing 'wheels on the bus' with me running round the room pretending to be a bus! Grin

Slinkenstein · 14/10/2011 21:58

Ha ha! Love it! Did it work? Sorry no posts, been lurking. Will endeavor to switch lappy on tomorrow and catch up with y'all

Night night DoDers

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/10/2011 07:39

Yes it did.

Had a Chinese last night, can someone find my motivation for me? I have lost it.

I hope everyone I'd cheering Wales on today - I had better find DD something red to wear today.
Food:
B: weetabix
L: omelette
D: either lamb rogan Josh or Summer lamb stew with broccoli

MadameBoo · 15/10/2011 10:40

Hello you lot! Remember me? I was on your original thread, way back when, and then sloped off because I had no motivation.

Motivation has now slapped me bang in the face after a rude wake up call with some horrendous photographs of my face with all it's 7 chins being posted on facebook.

So... I'm starting today but I'm a bit clueless. I've done slimming world 3 times but I wanted to do something low g.i this time - without paying for it. I did buy a Rosemary Conley book so I'm dipping into that.

So far today I've eaten muesli soaked in apple juice. Have had horrendous week with DS sleepwise so what I want to do is sit and eat biscuits all day because I'm so fecking tired.

Anyway - I will sit back and lurk for a bit. Is weigh day still Wednesday?

grimRiaper · 15/10/2011 11:28

hi madameboo. I have been on and off RC until this bout of SW. Her diet is the best for fast results I think, but not much leeway if you are a greedy piggy like meWink (I can never make it through the first 2 weeks with no booze bit!)

thank you cheese, it's lovely of you and hugely appreciated.Smile

day 3 here. usually danger day. DH is coping admirably with hobbit bread ("half a sandwich"). we do have a treat-ish meal planned in tonight, and a small limited amount of alcohol.

food today-
B: left-over panhagarty with egg, bacon, mushrooms and beans, and an orange
Lunch will be a jacket potato with chilli and salad, or lentil and bacon soup... though I am not hungry.
tonight DH and I are having pork steak with SW chips and baby veg. The kids are having tomato and bacon creamy pasta with garlic bread.

the boys have just picked some courgettes from the garden so I will have to find something to do with them during the week. I am amazed they grew!

Think we are heading into town later, and will walk from town to my sisters beach hut (about 30 mins) for the rest of the afternoon. I am hoping to go for a big moors walk tomorrow, but depends on weather and DH plans etc.

MadameBoo · 15/10/2011 15:53

Yes reaper I tried really hard with RC and then after 10 days I fell off the wagon and put all the weight back on I'd lost.

I am thinking of joining a class. But It'll be great to talk to you lot again whilst I do so.

Salmon and cucomber for lunch today - and 2 small potato cakes I'd made, with l/f Philadelphia. About to have an apple. I'm not sure about the potato cakes. Confused Does anyone know of a good website for calorie counting?

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/10/2011 18:30

madameboo - you do know that apple juice is about as far removed from low GI as you can get don't you?!

ria - you can do yummy pasta with lots of courgettes. Allow 1 per person if large, grate them and fry in frylight til soft and not too watery. Add some garlic (or use garlicky cheese) and a pot of light philly (I'm not sure of HEA allowance as I have to use non-dairy stuff and sin it, but expect it's sufficient - I'm assuming cooking for 4 or 5 here, because that's what I do) and a bit of milk til you get the consistency you want. Mix with cooked pasta. I would have added a load of pancetta too pre sw, so you can add lean bacon if you desire. My dd has always refused to eat courgettes, but she now declares this her favourite pasta dish! We just had it for tea today actually, and empty plates all round. :)

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/10/2011 18:33

oh and if you have iphone then someone recommended 'my fitness pal' as a calorie counting app the other day. it's apparently free.

MadameBoo · 15/10/2011 18:59

Is it Cant'tsleep? It's one of the recommended breakfasts in her low g.i book! Does the muesli counteract it or is she a charlatan ?

Pasta dish sounds fab :o

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/10/2011 19:27

Yes really - fruit juice is pretty much just liquid sugar! I had to do super low gi when I had gestational diabetes, and juice was strictly off the menu. Having it with museli will certainly help to lower it, but why not just have milk with museli? Confused

MadameBoo · 15/10/2011 19:42

I had gestational diabetes too but I have forgotten everything - and I thought because she had put it in that book then it must be ok. How odd. Ah well, yes, milk then tomorrow!

kid · 15/10/2011 20:12

I reckon milk on cereal will taste better than the apple juice anyway!

MadameBoo · 15/10/2011 20:17

Yes, quite ourkid :o

I have logged onto my fitness pal (thanks for the tip cantsleep), and discovered a few errors in my day - but considering I've been a bit clueless and all over the place today I'm quite pleased.

grimRiaper · 15/10/2011 21:38

thanks for that recipe, I may give it a go. Not sure where the courgettes are TBH, the house-elf picked them and put them somewhere.

really struggling tonight. thank goodness I am skint or I would be en route to the shop now to get a bottle of wine, pizza, crisps, chocolate before they close. Did the walk to Dsis's in 20 minutes today. Despite my opinion she insisted my boys put on the wet suits she has bought them and go in the sea... we have been home for just over 3 hours now and I am still frozen, and I had a woolly jumper and a fleece on. I have some college work to do then I'm going to have my glass of wine and watch strictly, and convince myself that I am satisfied by having a small treat and being good, rather than a big fat disgusting binge.

kid · 15/10/2011 22:15

We were meant to be going out for a meal tonight but I'm still not well. Instead, I had cheese on toast and a blue ribbon chocolate bar for dinner. Dh offered to buy me some wine but i had a little bit of diet Pepsi instead.
I've cancelled the gym class that I was meant to be going to tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be okay to go on Monday night. I think I'll be okay for work Monday as I feel a better than I did yesterday. Apparently I looked really rough LOL

grimRiaper · 15/10/2011 23:14

Sad kid. good idea to cancel the gym til you feel better.

no binge to report, thankfully. might have to have a little treat on DoD though. Do you all have a weigh-in treat or are you saintly except on special occasions?

grinningzombee · 16/10/2011 06:46

Morning everyone

Still here, not MIA. Still very sleep deprived Sad. Kid I hope you get better very soon. And welcome back to Boo.

Ria I don't tend to have a DoD treat. Not sure why really! We are off out for lunch with Mil later. If it goes to form, the dc will play up horrifically and everyone will fall out. Like a few weks ago. I am so looking forward to it Hmm

So, food for the day:

Weetabix and a nectarine
(Out) JP and beans
Quorn chilli and rice

Hope you all have a nice Sunday [hsmile]

Sofabitch · 16/10/2011 09:45

Ahh I wondered why the old thread appeared dead Grin um I've had a back few weeks. I've gained 3lbs and probably more this week. Will get back on track Monday.

grimRiaper · 16/10/2011 12:33

hi sofa and bee.

no walking for us today, no-one feels like getting ready to go out. Have to go to shop for bananas and milk later tho, but picnics and flasks and packing rucksacks is beyond me today. DH is apparently sleeping better due to the no booze and healthy diet, I am not.

Food today-
B: bacon and egg sandwich
L: huge chicken pasta salad with lots of veg
T: chicken and veg curry with rice
yogurt and fruit as normal, have strawberries and choc sprinkle mullerlite for a treat, might even have a kitkat with a cup of tea, as I have been keeping syns to a minimum this week (apart from yesterday when I allowed for some)

have a good sunday, hope your lunch goes well bee.

Sofabitch · 16/10/2011 14:43

How is everyone doing? I've been so unfocused. The car failed it's mot which has sucked and really hit our food budget. I'm finding it much harder to follow sw with less food money. Hence the bad 2 weeks. But my clothes are slightly loose which helps. Plus someone took a really bad pic of me where I look huge. Sad yesterday.
