Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

I love festive name time Xmas Grin

just caught up again, and won't remember everything, but... sorry for all puking and poorliness. Yay for christmas markets but boo at the prices of all things lovely. sorry for non-sleepiness. well done on SofM cwsw... sorry to evryone I've missed.

Apologies if I start repeating myself, can't remeber what I said when I was last here.

DS2 was sick last week when we had a sneaky trip to Whitby on strike day. We had just got out of the car and walked round the corner when he said he felt sick, and threw up in the street (narrowly missing a basement window grille-cover ). He managed the rest of the dy OK in the fresh air, but thrw up again in the night all over DS3. DS3 now has a cough (but no puke thankfully).

My email was not good. Estranged relative of 20 years was admitted to hospital a couple of weeks ago, email was about the admission to hospice and related detail. Sadly condition has worsened since Saturday and is now a matter of time. Estrangedness and some of bad feeling dealt with in a way, but relative not been conscious since Saturday, so not sure of they still bitter or ready to build bridges. Doesn't directly affect me due to age-differences in family and not really knowing etc, but affects those close to me, so Sad.

yesterday was manic. OU essay due at noon, then college portfolio due last night. could have done with insomnia! made do with 6am, and may have to repeat to clear the ironing mountain for christmas.

have re-registered with MFP for over christmas. I would say I have ballooned, but as balloons are filled with air and pretty much weightless, it would be a bit far from the truth. Elephantine perhaps. I have WI-ed with a 1lb loss this morning, but given my gain took me to 3lb over my start weight anyway, it ain't great. Would like to either get into next stone bracket by 24th, or lose what I am likely to regain over the festive period!

DH has new PT job, very local, and it's going OK. But he does think he won't be kept on after NY. He is at hospital tomorrow, and as I can't go with him (missing out on xmas shopping in YorkSad) he is visitng his family and delivering prezzies. woohoo - one job off the list!

sorry for long post. not enough time in the day atm to keep it often and brief! off to rink wine and watch Lewis now (and read up on low cal breakfasts and plan tomorrows food!)

RiaInExcelsisDeo · 07/12/2011 22:21

was it new thinner Nigella or a repeat of curvacious sexy Nigella bee? (not that she ever looked bad for heavens sake). Did anyone see the pictures of Ruth Jones in the papers? I have her and Dawn French pinned up the kitchen. BUT, DS1 has just watched the John Lennon film (31 years tomorrow apparently, RIP), and when conversation moved round to a film about him one day (why does DH have these conversations?) I suggested Caroline Quentin to play (obviously a much thinner) me (because she is fabulous and pretty and funny, and I used to be of a similar build to her before I got fat, and my MN PN group once suggested her to play me in a film of my life!). Dawn and Ruth are too thin now. Good for them though. Just read "A Tiny Bit Marvellous" too. FabXmas Smile

grinningbee · 08/12/2011 08:47

Good morning!

Blimey Ria you have a lot going on. Hope your dh is kept on after Xmas, and sorry about your relative Sad.

As for weight, I'd go for damage limitation from now to Xmas, then enjoy yourself, then start afresh in the new year. No point beating yourself up, and you've had a lot of stress and things to deal with over the last few months.

The Nigella Xmas thing - she was looking curvy. She always looks fab though! Xmas Envy. She also did a rib of beef with port and stilton gravy. I was sooooo hungry!

Ds really played up last night. Woke at 1.18, and I got him back to sleep just a smidge after 5am. Put him in his cot, and he woke crying straight away. Back into bed with me, off to sleep again. Dh really angry, told me we should just shut him in a room and leave him to "get the message". Dh woke me at 6 to tell me something or other (can't remember now!), then again at 6.45 to say he was off and dd was up. So up I had to get.

Oh well. A cup of tea shortly should help me feel a bit more human. Then it'll be glittery glue time. Yay!!

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
The usual
Leftover quorn chilli and rice

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/12/2011 09:18

Oh ria, I agree with what bee says. Damage limitation is the key. Chin up chuck!

Sorry for your night bee, I thought we had it bad up for 45 min. How you find the energy to then glitter glue I have no idea!

I'm off to body pump in a bit, it's going to kill me!
B: weetabix
L: omelette and salad
D: sausage and mash, need to calculate synage!

Wrap up warm, it's going to be wet and windy later!

grinningbee · 08/12/2011 10:49

It was glitter or feel sorry for myself Cheese Xmas Grin

The results are drying at the moment, and will hopefully look nice and sparkly when finished with a ribbon too. dd really enjoyed it, and I didn't get a look in.

Weather is going to be awful soon. For here we've got 50 mph wind gusts predicted for half the day with heavy rain. Oh joy. Food shopping can wait until tomorrow.

Good luck at the gym Cheese!

SlinkyBells · 08/12/2011 14:00

I'm bottom of the list again then, oh well! Had a sneaky WI this am, and I'd gone back to 10 13.5 ?! Glad I checked, as it's given me the incentive I needed to be good for a while. No major social events for the next few days, so damage limitation here too.

B: Weetabix
Snack: Alpen Light bar
L: Soup, apple, satsuma, yogurt
D: Shop-bought fish pie and roasted veg. No idea on synnage, but as have been good all day (so far!) I figure it'll be fine.

I agree with others ria, keep trying to be good for a couple of weeks. You CAN and WILL get the weight back off in the new year, I just know it! Xmas Smile

Just about to crack on with housework, then thinking of baking some ginger biscuits (oh, wait, didn't I just say I was being good today?!). I have a meeting at the children's centre where I volunteer, tonight at 7pm, so could bring them along. Will also give some to family later, so won't be able to scoff too many! Xmas Grin.

Well done on exercise cheese, I must must must start doing something again in the NY. Hope you coped and are still alive!

pixiestix · 08/12/2011 18:47

Well done everyone! Considering its only two and a half weeks until Christmas thats not too bad a list at all! Grin

Bee I will be with you on the weigh ins. I promised myself I would get to target this year, and although I blatantly wont I'm damned if I'm going to start piling it all back on again.

That said, I'm off to my RL weigh in now and I don't know what the scales are going to look like! I've had a bit of a rollercoaster week food-wise - some beautiful on-track days and some real yummy low points. I'll let you know whether I am shamed or taking home the fruit! Grin

pixiestix · 08/12/2011 18:48

Oh god, I've totally missed the last page and have no time to catch up now! Confused [dunce] Grin

SlinkyBells · 09/12/2011 00:24

How did you get on pixie??

Ok, I'm rubbish, have fallen off the waggon again (wine). Am wondering if someone has a veggie soup recipe they can recomend that is either low-syn or syn-free? Figure if I make it on Monday I can at least have a couple of days being good? I've never made a soup before, so the recipe would have to be written very clearly in idiot-speak please !

Ta

LakeFlyPie · 09/12/2011 01:12

I find a big pan of soup to dip into helps loads Slinky.
For a basic one I chop up about 5 sticks celery, 5 leeks. 5-10 carrots, half a swede and gently fry in a pan sprayed with FryShite with lid on until soft (ish). Watch out it doesn't burn / stick, slosh in some water if it begins to stick. When leeks are looking a bit melty add a litre or so of stock (I really rate Marigold bouillon powder which I think is syn free) and simmer until everything goes soft. You can add carton of Passata and serve with shredded savoy cabbage or kale chucked in at the last minute or if you're doing green days it's good with borlotti beans and or pasta added. It always tastes better the next day or 2 so good to make a huge panful which'll last a good few days.
Sorry for any typos (on phone)

SlinkyBells · 09/12/2011 08:22

Thanks for that Lake! I hate celery, so may substitute that with onion. Aiming to make it Sunday night Xmas Smile.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/12/2011 09:55

I've got a lentil and bacon or lentil and carrot which I will dig out. Big soup fan here, or spicy parsnip?
Babies love them too!

Huffpot · 09/12/2011 10:15

Oh cheeseandbiscuits I'd like that one too
It's surprising how much soup fills you up!

SlinkyBells · 09/12/2011 10:54

Yes, it is very filling especially when you have it with a giant white buttered roll. Can't believe I've never made soup before Xmas Blush. The bacon and lentil one sounds good please cheese!

pixiestix · 09/12/2011 14:15

Mmmmm, I love lentil and bacon soup. I might make a pan myself!

Soooo, I did ok at weigh in last night. Half a pound off which, while not spectacular, means that I am into the nine stone bracket for the first time since at least 2002! Very exciting! Unfortunately, buoyed up by that fact I came out of group and fell face first into a box of After Eights. Blush 2 syns each and I had at least fifteen five. Self-sabotage strikes again Sad Now I have three Christmas do's to go to over the weekend and so will be totally off plan until Monday, but the plan is damage limitation and I will be perfect Monday to Thursday to even it all out. That is the plan. I will not stray. I will not buy another box of After Eights. Oh no. Grin

Cheese I was dreading going back to work, really upset about the whole thing and actually its bloody great! I can't believe how much I'm enjoying having three days out of the house and away from T. I feel sort of guilty about it Blush How many days are you going back for?

Thanks for the Mug Shots advice Hedge, I will check them out. I bloody love Super Noodles but not for ten syns!

grinningbee · 09/12/2011 14:45

Yay Pixie!!! Well done to you, that's fantastic. Oh, to be in the 9 stone bracket... .

Big food shop done today. Couple of days late, but we managed. I've always got a couple of days extra! Going to have to start thinking about Xmas food soon. Yikes.

Food for the day:

Weetabix (no banana)
Cheese triangles on toast, apple, clementines and a yogurt
Beef rogan josh (cooking now) with broccoli

I think I've got a touch of what the dc came down with earlier in the week. Something has gone through me like you wouldn't believe... I'm trying to see it as a positive though! I need to lose 1.5lb this coming week Xmas Grin

We're going out later to meet up with some of dh's relatives that we hardly ever see. My enthusiasm is probably palpable through the screen... Xmas Wink

grinningbee · 09/12/2011 14:50

Why are my smilies not working? Bah humbug.

Huffpot · 09/12/2011 17:20

Well done pixiestix on entering a new bracket

I have loads to lose sigh but am still hoping if I manage to avoid self sabotaging to drop into another one AND get my stone award Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/12/2011 09:23

Xmas WinkXmas Grin

dunno bee!

pixiestix · 10/12/2011 20:02

Thanks for the congrats but after last nights and todays excesses I think I am firmly back up over ten stone! Xmas Grin
Only one more day of binging alcoholism left to go and then I will be back on the lettuce leaves and scan bran! Xmas Confused

Hope the relatives weren't too dire Bee!

RiaInExcelsisDeo · 10/12/2011 20:12

I like spicy lentil, sweet potato and buttnernut squash soup. A couple of peeled diced sweet potatoes, a peeled, diced squash, carrots, onion, garlic and celery and dried chilli flakes, cooked in stock, chuck in some red lentils and blend when cooked. Yum. The boys love it and it "fel" healthy.Xmas Wink

relative passed away yesterday, so hopefully the rest of my close family will be less stressed out by it now. I am glad it hasn't been a long time of suffering and they are at peace. (DS3 - aged 4 - apparently asked my Dad last night if the police would be coming to collect the person that's died. Perhaps he has been exposed to to much passive Lewis/Midsomer Murders/MarpleBlush? Luckily mum and dad thought it very funny!)

Living room blitzed and decorated. I am a bit unerwhelmed by it. DH has insisted we have the tree in the living room this year instead of locked away in the conservatory. Am not sure if I like change.

sorry for the lack of sleep bee. Have you tried badger sleep balm and lavender baths?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 10/12/2011 20:25

Xmas shopping done!

Pizza - tick

Wine - tick

My lovely family here - tick

X factor final - tick

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

SlinkyBells · 10/12/2011 23:35

They sooooo lied about 'The Final' bit of the X Factor though didn't they?! Grr! I've had a few five cans of Strongbow, and a Pizza Express Pizza and dough-balls with my lovely family and loved every moment! Not the X Factor stuff though, totally underwhelmed about that this year (I wanted Johnny Robinson to win, ha ha!).

Ria thanks for the soup ideas, I love sweet potato and squash but they are such a massive PITA to prep! Will endevour to try soon though. Damage Limitation...isn't that what someone said the other day?! Xmas Grin.

Have had a lovely day, hope everyone else has too. Also, very Xmas Envy of the finishing of gift buying cheese...please spill the beans on any inspiration for my dp?!

pixiestix · 11/12/2011 08:43

Hahaha, what are we all like?? The list is going to be right mess this week isn't it! Xmas Grin

The Christmas party/ meal thing I am off to tonight is scheduled to last from 4pm until midnight. There is double chocolate stout xmas pud for dessert - I don't even know what that is but it doesn't sound like a healthy extra! Its going to be weigh-gain carnage, isn't it? Xmas Grin

Hedgepig · 11/12/2011 10:58

::slinks in:: feeling rather embarrassed about wot she has been scoffing, looks around [grins], we are all as bad as each other Happy Christmas girls!

Your soup looks nice Ria and i have all the ingredients I shall get chopping
