I want to lose 1.5 stone - anyone care to join me?

Right!

I've been intending to lose weight for a few months now and it's getting worse instead of better!

This week I weighed and I am the heaviest I've ever been (11 st 7lb at 5 ft 3in) and I've decided I've had enough. I'm happiest around 10 stone, so I am going to aim for that to start with.

I didn't put on much weight with my pregnancy (DD nearly 3) and I am ashamed to say it has just gradually come on in the last year or so.

Today I recieved a load of clothes which I ordered online from Animal (a rare treat for me as it is soon to be my 35th birthday), I really like them but some are a bit tight and would look much better if I was slimmer (especially the combat style jeans - I have a massive muffin top in them) so I'd like to slim down to fit into them as soon as I can.

I'm planning to do some exercise on the Wii (My Fitness Coach) every day (at least 15 mins but preferably 30 mins) and I am going to log my food using Myfitnesspal.

I recorded my measurements lately, so I'll pin them up here soon as a reminder and update now and again.

Anyone like to join me, or do you mind if I use this as a sort of online diary to keep motivated?

Hi ladies - please may I join?

I managed to lose three stone (massive effort) before getting married 4 weeks ago but, after a wonderful honeymoon have now managed to put on about a stone.

I'm really pissed of with myself as, over the last week, instead of getting a grip, I've stuffed myself more. I'm really worried that I'm going to put all the weight back on and my (new) clothes feel really tight. Actually, I feel like I could cry pathetic emoticon. I don't know why I am doing this.

Anyway, I'm going to use myfitnesspal and lay off the carbs. I have to do that or I really can't lose weight.

I'm about 12stone 5lbs today and would like to lose two stone

shinyblackgrape · 10/10/2011 21:47

even!

quornsausages · 10/10/2011 22:51

Hi all, Welcome Shinyblackgrape, congratulations on your recent marriage and well done on losing all that weight. Don't worry about the extra stone - of course you need to enjoy yourself on honeymoon with all the eating out and hotel foods. It probably will come off quickly as it went on quickly.

Well done Mrs Mustard on the weightloss! You're making really good steady progress!

Well done Fairybluebell for sticking to the 30ds! Are you finding it ok?

I've had a good day, I've done about an hour in total of workouts and I've only just stuck to my calorie goal (with exercise cals added on).

Catch up tomorrow. Have a good night.

Hi all,

Thanks for the concern. Consultant is going to attempt an operation on mum on Thursday if she is strong enough. She has actually put on 3lb while in hospital but she is pain free on liquid morphine and morphine patches and actually able to keep some food down. I have booked Friday off work, was due to be on late, but I have to work lates rest of week apart from Sat which is just the morning.

dd had a dancing accident last night, just back from dr with her - just deep tissue damage so rest and painkillers.

Had a blast gym session yesterday - was feeling all emotional so took it out at gym (approx 800 cals) but then ate them back last night when I had an encounter with a large block of cheese Blush. Still within my calories for day and im off to gym this morning (shuts eyes to state of house)

Only managed to skim the thread but welcome shinyblackgrape and well done the rest of you - you all seem to be really doing well - we will all be slinky for christmas Smile

shinyblackgrape · 11/10/2011 13:35

Hi All - thanks for the welcome.

I weighed myself this morning (with one eye shut) and was pleasantly surprised to see that I actually am only(!) 12stone 3lbs so I think I can legitimately be on this thread. I didn't spot til post posting that it was for 1.5stoner-ers!

I just really need to motivate myself. I was so strict in the lead up to the wedding as I knew I had to do it. However, I just can't seem to motivate myself again even though my clothes feel really tight. DH offered to buy me a lovely new outfit for Christmas last night. I said thanks through the mouthful of chocolate that I was eating......but it didn't stop me eating more! I'm so cross with myself as I thought that I had really sorted out my pre-wedding food ishoooos (food as lovely treat etc) but obviously not.

Today has been a good day though so determined to go home and do my Jillian Michaels DVD.

Good luck all!

quornsausages · 11/10/2011 21:53

Hi all,

Tibni, hope things go well for you and your mum on Thursday and hope your daughter recovers soon from her injury.

Don't worry shinyblackgrape about the 1.5 stone or whatever the thread says. If I'm honest with myself, ideally I should be losing more than that to be 'perfect' but I'm aiming to just lose the 1.5 stone to start with and see what happens from there. I found it so hard to get started, I think I messed about for months (since January), just intending to lose weight and putting more on in the process, then something 'clicked' when my new clothes were too tight and I realised I didn't want to be overweight anymore. So you are not alone in that aspect. I've found that exercise has reduced my cravings a little, so perhaps when you do the DVD it will 'kick in'. Are you on MyFitnessPal? I find that recording all my food on there helps to control my eating a lot. I still eat 'junk' just not as much as I used to!!!

I've had a good day today, stuck to below my calories (including my exercise ones - unusual for me) and I've done 30 mins of exercise: - 20mins of 'fat burning' on the Wii My Fitness Coach Club and 10 minutes of abdominal work (which nearly killed me)!

Hope everyone has had a good day - catch up tommorow!

Hello!

Welcome Shinyblackgrape. Indeed, do not worry about the thread name of 1.5 stone, I wish that was all I had to lose! My aim to lose that by Christmas & then some more...
Whip out the JM dvd & she will help motivate you! I always feel better after exercise as I know I have actually done it!

Welcome back FairyBB. Well done on managing 30DS 8 times! I haven't got there yet. I am sure that will be why you didn't gain any weight despite a heavy RL week. :)

Good to see you still motivated Quorn. You are doing very well.

Hope DD is ok Tibni. How old is she? Does she need to stay off school. I hope all goes ok with your mum, I will be thinking of you (& her) tomorrow..((hug))
Well done on the 800 cal workout! You're fab!

As for me...I am delighted to have lost 4lb this week! Whoop!! :o. Just goes to show that sticking to my cals & doing a bit of exercise really does work! Who'd a thunk it?! Wink. That's 9lb in 3 weeks so I am determined to keep going. Will have to exercise more this week as have at least 1 meal out planned & DS's birthday party on Saturday...Biscuit

tibni · 12/10/2011 12:36

wow 4lb Blacksquirrel, that is brilliant. Grin You have every right to be pleased with yourself.

Quorn well done keeping up with the exercise.

dd is much better today thank you. I sent a note to keep her of PE yesterday and she missed her ballet class but she is not in constant pain now and is just stiff when she wakes. Dr said her underlying fitness will help her recover quickly. dd will be 13 at christmas. Morphine made mum very physically sick yesterday but surgeon still says he will proceed tomorrow.

I have managed to keep up with the exercise and food is ok too. My jeans are feeling much better and I am really starting to feel healthier. When I have been tempted to slip back into the lazy buttered toast option I am stopping myself and making informed choices. Working tonight then tomorrow afternoon and evening so will try and keep focused.

Thank you all, having this thread is really helping keep me on track

quornsausages · 13/10/2011 00:13

Hi all,

Well done black squirrel - fantastic weightloss!

Tibni - Glad your daughter is a bit better. Hope everything goes well tomorrow. Well done on keeping up with the food and exercise and seeing results!

I still seem to be on a plateau, I weighed this morning but the scales haven't moved. I've also measured, and those inches have come down slightly so it's still coming off in that way. Never mind, I'm quite happy with the 5.5 pounds in a month overall. Everything feels looser and fits better. I can visibly see that things are toning up and fat rolls are getting smaller too. So I can't complain too much.

I haven't done a workout today to see if that helps my body have a break and I've also stuck to under my calorie goal (without exercise calories) to see if that helps shift it. I'll just have to push through it I guess.

Hope everyone has had a good day - see you tomorrowSmile.

Heya,
Welcome blackgrape. I congratulations on the wedding, and the weight loss!
Its better that you had a relaxed and enjoyable honeymoon than one worrying about calorie counting, but well done for getting back on track. I'm another one who has more than 1.5st to lose.

Well done for the loss black squirrel. 4lb is fab.
I hope everything is going well Tibni. Thinking of you.

Quorn - Its annoying and off putting when the scales don't move, but Its the inch loss that is noticable! Well done!

I've been pretty good with exercise this week, but its my ToTM and I'm feeling crappy and bloated today. I've got massive sweet cravings which are made harder by the fact I have the house is full of chocolate and biscuits (I'm making my gran a 99th b'day cake for the weekend, and DH has bought loads of chocolate chip cookies - he never does that! Grrrr!). I have induldged a little, but it could have been worse). Hopefully its just a blip and I'll be back at the gym tomorrow.

Good luck for any upcoming weigh ins. I'm going to weigh in on Tuesday next week as it will be a month of dieting (and period relatied water retention/ cake guzzling badness will hopefully be remedied by then)

Ta ta for now.

quornsausages · 16/10/2011 09:29

Hiya - How's everyone doing? Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Tibni - I hope your mum is doing well.

I'm having a bit of a wobbly moment - that bl@@dy pound is back again and over the last few weeks, I have pretty much stuck to all my calories (except this Friday where I went over by 265) and exercised regularly. I'm really struggling with my motivation as it doesn't seem to be paying off. Thinking of lowering my calorie goal to the range of 1200-1300 (currently at 1380) and not going into my exercise calories ever for the next week to see if it shifts - starting today!

Hope everyone is doing better than me!!!!

Blush have fallen so far off the Wagon it's untrue .... Coinciding with onset of SAD - Got consumed with nerves waiting for DS' 11+ results which thankfully turned out to be good - then had to celebrate of course - then have been exhausted by withdrawal of nervous energy. Weighed myself and found I'd put on 2lb of the 3 1/2 lb I'd lost - shame on me Blush.

Today marks my return to the straight and narrow - gym & healthy eating.

Smadarama · 16/10/2011 11:03

By the way - thanks for giving me a wagon to climb back onto Smile

tibni · 16/10/2011 21:00

Hi all,

Mum made it through the operation and fingers crossed is doing ok. It will be a long road but this initial operation was very risky and she has got over the first hurdle.

I have been spending a lot of time over at the hospital so my diet and exercise level has reduced but I am not doing too bad overall. Have felt "flat" over the weekend - I guess an adrenalin dip after the stress with mum but determined to focus again next week and count my blessings. Tomorrow is the start of my increased work hours so I will have to try and sort myself a new routine to keep on track.

Hope you are all keeping well, will try and catch up with all the news next week.

quornsausages · 18/10/2011 09:34

Hi all,

Glad to hear that your mum is doing ok after her operation tibni.

Glad to have you back on the wagon Smadarama! Congrats to your son.

Still stuck with that extra pound, I have been trying to lower my calories to the range of 1200-1300 but struggling to get that low. Every few days I bring out my Wii scales hoping to see a loss but they just don't move. Never mind! I think I may concentrate on inch loss for the time being as at least that seems to move a little. I must resist bringing out the scale!

Hope everyone is doing well Smile.

Hiya,

How's everyone doing - did anyone weigh in this week? - I've decided to not weigh for the time being and weigh next week.

On the whole I've been pretty good with the calories and working out. Had a bit of a blow out on tuesday night and ate around 2200 cals that day, but I felt satisfied afterwards and carried on as normal then yesterday. Feel quite motivated today too.

Think I'll do a longer workout today (I'll try for about 45mins to an hour) and see if that helps.

Hope everyone is ok.

I am still here ladies!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post.

Had a very 'naughty' weekend as DS's birthday...ended up eating cake & take aways plus a meal out [hblush]. Luckily I clawed it back a bit before weigh in & managed to stay the same so I can't be unhappy with that! I was expecting a 3lb gain!

Back on it this week..have done my 30 Day shred dvd yesterday & today & also heading out to the gym tonight to burn a few more cals.

Tibni, Glad your DM got through the op okay, I hope things are improving.

Keep going Quorn! It's got to come off soon with all the work you're putting in!

Hope everyone is well. Sorry for the rushed post x

quornsausages · 24/10/2011 09:32

Hi all - How's everyone doing?

Think the scales may be moving in the right direction. I was down 1lb yesterday (the one I had put on), and I'm hoping it's the break of my plateau. I eased up the exercise and doing it every other day, so I don't think my body is holding on so much. I may do that from now on, exercise for longer, but on alternate days.

Is anyone doing anything nice for half term? My daughter is only 2 so not in school yet, but it'll be nice for her to play with my nephew who is off school for a week. Would have hoped to take them for long walks, but if the weather is like this for the week (bucketing down at the moment!), that won't be a good idea.

Catch up soon.

Hi - How are you all doing?

Been sticking to it as much as I can (though not perfect) and I weighed this morning and another pound has come off. I'm hoping that it's going to come off regularly now because I was getting so fed up with it not shifting. Feel a lot better in my clothes as well lately. Looking forward to being 10 stone something and not 11 stone something.

Been for a long walk today as my DH has been off and I may do a workout in a short while.

May get the tape measure out later and record my measurements too.

Hope everyone is ok.

Hi,
May I join?? I am mum to a daughter who is coming up 12 weeks old and have lost a bit but its levelled out for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I seem unable to diet unless I am at a weightloss club! With 3 chidlren under 4 its just not practical so thought I might try mumsnet! Exercise (I mean proper exercise not waiting for a dawdling toddler on a walk of about 500 yards) is virtually impossible and I am so desperate to get back into some nice clothes.

Its so frustrating, I know what to do but my brain won't get into gear unless I am tracking it and reporting back to someone. I guess i'm all or nothing. Anyone else like this? Iam going to try that mfp thing too but it doesn't have a thing to account for breastfeeding.

Good luck everyone, i'll try and measure myself tomorrow - eek and report back
x
by the way I am 5ft 7 and currently about 12 stone 8. I want to be 11 stone something by Christmas.

quornsausages · 30/10/2011 16:04

Hi tuffinmop, welcome Smile. Congrats on the birth of your daughter. I'm sure you'll lose the weight by Christmas.

I'm all or nothing too, but this seems to be working for me.

MFP is great, could you try and work out how much calories you would use if BF and add them on to what MFP suggests?

Good luck.
