I want to lose 1.5 stone - anyone care to join me?

Right!

I've been intending to lose weight for a few months now and it's getting worse instead of better!

This week I weighed and I am the heaviest I've ever been (11 st 7lb at 5 ft 3in) and I've decided I've had enough. I'm happiest around 10 stone, so I am going to aim for that to start with.

I didn't put on much weight with my pregnancy (DD nearly 3) and I am ashamed to say it has just gradually come on in the last year or so.

Today I recieved a load of clothes which I ordered online from Animal (a rare treat for me as it is soon to be my 35th birthday), I really like them but some are a bit tight and would look much better if I was slimmer (especially the combat style jeans - I have a massive muffin top in them) so I'd like to slim down to fit into them as soon as I can.

I'm planning to do some exercise on the Wii (My Fitness Coach) every day (at least 15 mins but preferably 30 mins) and I am going to log my food using Myfitnesspal.

I recorded my measurements lately, so I'll pin them up here soon as a reminder and update now and again.

Anyone like to join me, or do you mind if I use this as a sort of online diary to keep motivated?

Hi All - finally got around to weighing myself - have lost 3 1/2 lb in 10 days - I'm really pleased - makes it all feel worthwhile. As far as diet is concerned I've just been cutting down on Carbs and although I've been bored (beyond words) sometimes, I can honestly say I haven't felt hungry ( I even had a day off on Sat when I went to the seaside and had fish & chips and ice-cream). Being more aware of what I eat has made me realise just how much I had slipped into the habit of picking - no wonder I'd not lost weight in spite of gym Blush

Thanks all - you have really motivated me - I needed a kick start. Good Luck everyone.

tibni · 05/10/2011 08:39

Morning all,

Well done Smadarama on your weightloss.

Quorn - this is the time to dig in deep. Scales are only ever a guide. Think of the good that you are doing to your body.

I did ok at the gym yesterday. My very pregnant friend was in so I did chat rather than really push myself so I did an extra half hour after she had gone to get just over 600 cals in. I have lost weight - about 5lb, which I am pleased with as I had my birthday break.

I have been logging my calories on myfitnesspal the last few days and have realised that I am cutting down too far, I am getting shouted at in a red message Blush so I am going to be aware of this and modify what I am doing. This morning I added 30g of fruit and fibre into breakfast as I thought the nuts would be good for me as a vegetarian. It must be a very heavy cereal because it was a very small portion for 30g!

Off to gym again (I have worked out 4 times a week for the last 5 years so I am not going mad on the exercise). I have a short evening shift tonight but I will not be in until after 8pm, when I used to eat, today I think I will have a larger lunch then just a snack either just before I go at 4.30 or when I get back home - but not a heavy meal.

Have a good day.

Yummygummybear · 05/10/2011 12:23

Morning all!

Tibni, You are doing so well! It really sounds like you are in the zone! You must be working super hard to burn off 600+ cals a day! Well done you!

Well done on the weightloss Smadarama! Sounds like you are feeling motivated :)

Well done Quorn for not giving up! I know how that is! Especially when exercising.

I moved my weigh in day to Wed now to give my body a chance to level itself after the heavy weekend & am pleased to report a 2lb loss since last Monday :). I'm well pleased with that after my blowout on Sat/Sun, plus I haven't exercised since Thursday. Was due to attend my dance exercise class last night but really wasn't feeling up to it due to pretty heavy time of the month (TMI! sorry!), but feeling a bit better today & will try to get back into my 30 day shred over the next few days.

I can't complain about 5lb in 2 weeks! For the 1st time ever, DH & I are both in the zone & following the same diet (my fitness pal) which is making it so much easier as we are encouraging eachother & really sticking to it.

Hi to everyone else, hope everyone is well.

MeanMrsMustard · 05/10/2011 17:40

Well done everyone - it sounds like everybody is doing a fantastic job!
I'm suffering today after 2 sessions of pretty hardcore (for me!) resistance training. The personal trainer also had me working so hard on the cross trainer as a warm up that I thought I was going to be sick or faint. Or both. Got 50 lengths of the pool done after each session. And now it hurts when I walk...

My first mini goal was to get in the 11's by the 5th. I'll let you know in the morning if I made it.

MeanMrsMustard · 05/10/2011 17:41

by the 6th, not the 5th.

tibni · 05/10/2011 21:36

Ouch MrsMeanMustard. Any chance of a soak in the bath? Not sure how much it helps but it is worth a try. Fingers crossed on the 11st.

Well done on the weightloss yummy.

I am going to have to dig in deep. My mum went into hospital Wednesday and things are very uncertain. Things are further complicated with my severely disabled ds who will be thrown by the change of routine and whose care needs don't reduce and have to be met whatever else is happening. Sounds selfish but I am going to try and keep some focus on my own health, gym and food and I still have to work.

Managed a decent workout today - 750 cals and have eaten better so I haven't got the red "eat more" message on myfitnesspal Smile

MeanMrsMustard · 05/10/2011 22:30

Oh tibni, I'm so sorry.
It's not selfish to look after yourself! In fact it's bloody important.
I really hope everything turns out ok.

FairyBlueBell · 05/10/2011 22:45

Hi all. Marking my place and hope to catch up on the thread at the weekend.

quornsausages · 05/10/2011 23:06

Hi all,

Sorry tibni to hear about your mum, I hope she will be ok.

Well done Smadarama, Tibni and Yummygummy on your fab weightlosses! Good luck for your goal tommorow Mrs Mustard!

Had an ok day today, did 2 lots of 30 min workouts (find it hard to do one continuous session with a toddler in the house, so try and fit them in when I can). Starting to really enjoy it too.

Weighed this morning and still the same - 11st 3lb. But I've just done my measurements and they have changed:

Sep 21st (they were bigger again when I first started, but I don't know what they were - can only see on a graph on my exercise game)
Body measurements -
bicep 12 inches
chest 35 3/4 inches
waist 34 1/2 inches
hips 37 1/4 inches
thighs 21 1/2 inches

Today:
Bicep - 11 3/4 - change of 1/4 inch
chest - 35 inches - change of 3/4 inch - go back boobs go!!!!
waist - 34 1/2 same
hips - 36 1/2 change of 3/4 inch
thigh - 20 1/2 inch - change of 1 inch

So it is moving slowly in the right direction.
I'll weigh in the morning and see if that pound has budged! It's annoying me now.

OP posts:
MeanMrsMustard · 06/10/2011 09:37

Well done Quorn. Its so good to see the measurements going down. Don't worry about the 1lb. Our weight fluctuates even when we're trying to lose it. So long as the general trend is downwards (which it is) you're doing fine. I'm like you. I know I should only weigh myself weekly (or less) to avoid getting hett up about the little 'gains', but I can't help myself and get on the scales way too often. I try to only log my weight once a week though.

Having said all that, I got on the scales for a mid week weigh in this morning (1st target) and I have just made it. 11st 13.5lbs. Phew.
I was going to be meeting up with some very slim and fashionable friends tonight, some of whom I haven't seen since school (12 years ago), but it's been put tilll next month. When the new date is confirmed I will set it as another target.

I've just had a huge omlette with courgette, onion and chilli for breakfast. It was yummy and very filling, so hopefully I won't even think about food until lunch time. (very unlikely - I think about food way too much)

I'm planning on going swimming later on, but it depends on the state of my legs and how efficient I am this morning.

Good luck today.

quornsausages · 06/10/2011 10:15

Well done Mrs Mustard - wow you've lost 10lb in total and it's lovely when you get into the next stone zone! Automatically feels better!

My friends are all slim too, without trying - sometimes though a big meet up like that can spur you on in the right direction. Same with weddings where you haven't seen people for a long time.

Well, I weighed this morning and the pound did come off, but only 1 lb and no more, so 11st 2lb again now. I know I shouldn't be weighing every morning, but I just wanted to see it come off again! My Wii fit only measures to the nearest pound, so you cannot see all the little bits in between. My sister's scales go up in 0.2lb increments so she sees a change every morning and she finds it motivating. I think mine do too, so I should get some batteries for them as they ran out a long while back and I think that's one of the reasons I put on this stone or so because I was in denial about how heavy I was.

Your omlette sounds yum Mrs Mustard, eggs are supposed to fill you up for a long time. Enjoy your swimming later if you do go!

I'm going out later this morning, but I plan to do a workout later when I'm back and maybe again this evening when my husband is home from work. I'm starting to really enjoy the exercise now.

Have a great day everybody! Catch up later.

Morning all.

Well done on the inch loss, quornsausages, it must be motivating to know that the diet is working.

It's great to get past that one stone marker - well done on the weight loss meanmrsmustard!

I am now 10.5 again this morning, but the weight is coming off much more slowly now, so will have to up the exercise a bit. On the plus side my BMI has come down from 27 at my heaviest to 22 point something now :)

quornsausages · 06/10/2011 23:06

Well done princess glitter on the weightloss and reduction in BMI!

Had a good day, have done 2 workouts (one 20 min dance (MEL B game) and one 15 min - focused on upper body - My Fitness coach) and stuck to my calories.

Hope everyone has had a great day, catch up tomorrow.

Hello, can I join in with you all please Smile

Well done for all the weightloss going on in here!! I would love to lose 1 and 1/2 stone by mid December, that's do-able right?! Going abroad for Christmas so I'm really feeling the pressure. I've had 3 dc in as many years, youngest is 8mo, tummy is worse area, but hoping with lots of exercise and cutting out suger (AMAP!)

I did lose 10lb's a couple of month's ago by cutting out the bad stuff in evening's. Also started the 30DS in Sept, did 10days then RL got in the way and lost my motivation. But I really noticed a difference, as did other's just in that short space!

So my plan initially is to just cut out the bad junk food i.e. chocolate binges in the evening! And try and make the better choice, jacket potato rather than pannini when out! Picking up on the 30DS today, and have ordered Jillian's 6 pack in 6 weeks to do after I've finished 30DS. (I'm bf dd so can't go too restrictive on cals or carbs)

Going to start today with a big bowl of meusli and soya milk Smile

makingmama · 07/10/2011 07:48

Oh forgot to add I'm 5ft 4 and 10st 8lb.

MeanMrsMustard · 07/10/2011 09:48

Good morning.
Welcome makingmama. 1.5st sounds managable by December. Where are you going?
I had a good day yesterday. My huge breakfast filled me up till dinner pretty much, with just a snack at lunch time. I went swimming and my legs are beginning to feel better from my killer workout.
I have to be very good today. I'm going for a walk followed by pub lunch on Saturday so I'll need to save calories for that, as I have no idea if there will be any healthy options on the menu (and I don't think the walk alone will give me enough exercise calories). I'm not going to do the leg hating exercises today because I want to actually be able to move pain free on the walk, but I will do them again on Sunday. I promise!
Good luck today everyone.

quornsausages · 08/10/2011 15:01

Hiya all, welcome to makingmama Smile! I'm sure you can lose it by your holiday!

Hop you enjoyed your pub lunch today Mrs Mustard!

I'm doing ok, had an ok day yesterday (but ate a lot of sweet stuff in my mum's house so had to cut right back later in the day) but didn't do a workout.

I've been swimming this morning (with a toddler - so not that much exercise involved). May do a workout later once I get a chance.

May weigh in the morning and see how I'm doing. Feel a bit smaller in the belly area, but I'll see what the scales say.

Have a good weekend everyone.

MeanMrsMustard · 08/10/2011 18:31

Hello!
Hope you're having good weekends...
I had a bit of a bad day yesterday. No exercise and lots of food. (mainly healthy stuff, but in huge quantaties. Blush ) I'm not sure if its the change of weather, but I definately needed carbs.
I had a lovely walk today. Its so nice to get out of London. I had a huge lunch (monkfish and lentils) and a single scoop of icecream for pudding (quite controlled considering the other choices) I'm still stuffed, so if I do eat tonight it'll only be a very small amount. I have no idea how i'm doing calorie wise, but I'm off to the gym tomorrow.
Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow Quorn. I'm weighing myself on Monday so hopefully the past 48 hours indulgence haven't been too bad.

MeanMrsMustard · 08/10/2011 18:52

Oh, I nearly forgot. I'm wearing a pair of jeans that haven't fitted me in ages. And they're comfy. OK, so they are not part of my slim wardrobe (still a way off that) but they're not in the 'must hide under baggy clothes' range either.

tibni · 08/10/2011 22:02

Well done on the jeans MrsMustard.

Just popping by to let you know that I am still with you in spirit even if I am not getting on the thread much. My mum is really sick so I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can.

Doing ok with the food (although it was chippy tea tonight I managed to stay within my calories). Struggling to fit in exercise. Sunday is usually my big workout day but I am going to the hospital tomorrow so don't know if I will manage to get to the gym.

Keep going everyone! Smile

Yummygummybear · 09/10/2011 10:50

Sorry to hear about your mum Tibni.Do remember to look after yourself too. It is not selfish to do so, you need to be healthy in order to be any good to those that need you. ((hug)).

Well done MMrsM on getting into your slim'er' jeans. I can't wait to move in a further hole on my belt! Good luck for WI tomorrow.

Did you WI this morning Quorn? Hope it went well if you did.

Welcome Makingmama! Have you manged to get back on track with Jillian? I have done it the last 2 days & will try to squeeze it in this afternoon. I am determined to really try & do it at least 10 days on the trot without any days off but RL always manages to get in the way doesn't it?
Goodness your current weight is close to my final goal & we're the same height. Blush.

I'm having a pretty good week so far. Will WI Wednesday again this week although I have been within my cals all weekend. Trying to keep doing the 30DS & when DH is around on Tuesday I will get back to my slimming dance class. I should try to get to the gym for my C25K training again this week too, I will have to start again from week 1 though as haven't been in over a week. It feels great to be motivated to do this & I really feel like I can keep going. DH is dieting too (but not exercising) & I think this is the 1st time we have both been on the same page at the same time which makes it so much easier!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
x

Blacksquirrel · 09/10/2011 12:39

I've decided to change my name & didn't realise my old posts would have my old name on. I'm Yummygummybear (stupid name! although the new one isn't much better). I have no imagination! :o

quornsausages · 09/10/2011 22:54

Hi everyone, hope your weekend has gone well.

Well done on the jeans mrsmustard, so nice when your clothes fit better.

Good luck with your dvd yummy/ blacksquirrel (I like the new name)! Good to hear that your DH is joining you too.

I did weigh this morning and the scales have not shifted! It's so deceiving - the way you feel/ look/ inches and what the scales say sometimes. It'll have to come off at some point if I stick to it though. My legs and arms have gone quite solid to the touch, so I wonder if I'm building muscle. I did take measurements this morning (as my wii game asked for an update) and they have come down again slightly since I last measured so something is going in the right direction at least.

Have had a good weekend calorie-wise and I've worked out for over an hour in total today, I bought a new Wii game this one - My Fitness Coach Club. It seems quite good so far with lots of different workouts to choose from.

Have a good week everyone!

Will be thinking of you tibni.

MeanMrsMustard · 10/10/2011 16:55

Hello,
Well, after a weekend of eating very well indeed, I have managed to somehow lose 1lb since Thursday. I am now 11st 12.5lbs.

Quorn - I'd be really suprised if you haven't built muscle with all the exercise you've been doing. I have a pair of summer trousers that didn't fit me last May bank holiday, and I know for a fact that I was 11st 13lbs then. (I was planning on starting a diet Blush ). The trousers fit fine today. It can't just be that extra half lb! To anyone looking at my legs, yes, they are still podgy, but I know they are leaner than they would be if I hadn't been doing any exercise. There is muscle somewhere amongst all that flab! (not saying that your legs are flabby, just mine Blush )

I had a good session at the gym today and have been eating the right stuff. So far, so good...

FairyBlueBell · 10/10/2011 21:26

Hi all - the absconding Fairy is back after a week-long spell of RL getting in the way of staying on-thread.

DS birthday with lots of junk over the weekend and a meal out kinda scuppered the calorie count for the last couple of days, but at WI this morning am same as last week.

Have done 30DS 8 times in last 11 days - which for me is quite good. Trying to convince DH to join me in the morning Hmm

Havent measured myself, but have just discovered my BMI is 30.5 and losing 10kg will take me to 27.3, which is still in the overweight range.

Love the new name BlackSquirrel

Great that everyone is losing weight, inches or both and that we are all getting a bit fitter.

Thinking of you tibni . . .
