I want to lose 1.5 stone - anyone care to join me?

Right!

I've been intending to lose weight for a few months now and it's getting worse instead of better!

This week I weighed and I am the heaviest I've ever been (11 st 7lb at 5 ft 3in) and I've decided I've had enough. I'm happiest around 10 stone, so I am going to aim for that to start with.

I didn't put on much weight with my pregnancy (DD nearly 3) and I am ashamed to say it has just gradually come on in the last year or so.

Today I recieved a load of clothes which I ordered online from Animal (a rare treat for me as it is soon to be my 35th birthday), I really like them but some are a bit tight and would look much better if I was slimmer (especially the combat style jeans - I have a massive muffin top in them) so I'd like to slim down to fit into them as soon as I can.

I'm planning to do some exercise on the Wii (My Fitness Coach) every day (at least 15 mins but preferably 30 mins) and I am going to log my food using Myfitnesspal.

I recorded my measurements lately, so I'll pin them up here soon as a reminder and update now and again.

Anyone like to join me, or do you mind if I use this as a sort of online diary to keep motivated?

Well done everyone for doing so well!

I've had a pretty bad day food wise (really un-diet food) as we went out for a late lunch as my husband had a day off, but managed to curb it this evening to just over 1500 cals. Did some gardening in the morning (shovelling gravel and clearing overgrowth of weeds/ plants) but according to MFP, that burnt off over 550 cals.

So it feels really bad but MFP indicates that it's overall a good day - I don't know what to believe! I haven't done my workout today either as I've been either gardening or out so haven't had much chance.

Back on track tommorow. I'm hoping my new Wii game will come.

BakeliteBelle · 28/09/2011 09:31

Lost another three quarters of a pound on the Dukan today but feel slightly insane and very sweaty. However, not hungry. Would like my mental health to stabilise a bit!!

FairyBlueBell · 28/09/2011 22:00

30 day shred should be re-branded as 30 day ache!!! Let's hope I get used to it.....

quornsausages · 28/09/2011 23:58

Hope the shred ache goes away fairybluebell! I'm sure it will. Well done Bakelite on your weightloss, hope the side effects go away soon too.

Had an ok day today, done a 30 min workout, had a walk and did some gardening again. Stuck to my original calorie goal (under 1400) with no exercise cals included. Don't know why, haven't been very hungry.

Been aching today, I don't know if it's because I missed a workout yesterday or because of the gardening but I really struggled with my workout.

I've also started to do some facial exercises in a desperate attempt to get rid of my double chin (always had a fat face regardless of being fat or skinny - even at 8 stone).

May weigh in the morning if I get a chance. Will update tommorow.

Hi all, just weighed on the Wii board and I'm 11st 3lb, so I've lost 4lb in total since I started two weeks ago. Fairly pleased with that but would love it to come off faster. I've also lost an inch on my waist and it's also come off my chest, hips and thighs. My bicep has stayed the same, but you can see it's not so flabby.

I seem to struggle with the measurements (apart from the waist, where I can see where to measure - there's a line along my belly button where it goes in slightly) but I seem to come up with different measurements all the time along my hips and thighs - I think because there's not a defined point to measure at.

Going for a haircut later - so I hope I can freshen my look up a little bit! I'll have to do my workout this evening, still waiting for my new game to come.

Hope everyone has a great day! Catch up later.

Smadarama · 29/09/2011 21:52

Well done Quorn- 4lb in 2 weeks is great.

Had a really good workout at the gym for the first time in ages. It was a bit of a shock to the system but I feel back on track. Although I feel that it's going to take a while to bring my fitness back to what it was at the beginning of the year. Have managed to stay low on the carbs but still feel quite bloated - worried that I'm going to find that I've put on weight when I weigh myself at weekend.Shock

quornsausages · 29/09/2011 21:55

Well, pretty bad day today - I can't say that I've ate anything particulary awful but I've just snacked all day and without realising it, I've gone 81 cals over my calorie goal even with a 2 hour walk included in my exercise calories.

I'll have to be more careful tommorow I think.

Hope everyone has had a good day (better than mine anywayBlush)! Catch up tommorow.

quornsausages · 29/09/2011 23:00

Managed to redeem myself by doing a 15 min workout, under by 3 cals! Only just.

OP posts:
FairyBlueBell · 30/09/2011 08:15

3 cals GrinGrinGrin. Love your style Quorn!

Good day for me too yesterday - despite going out for lunch.

Meal plans all done for the upcoming week to use up the veg box stuff that arrived on Wednesday evening. Plan to visit the butcher later today before venturing to the supermarket.

Hope you are all doing well.....

MeanMrsMustard · 30/09/2011 10:24

Hello everyone.
Well done for the loss Quorn. And for making up those pesky 83 cals! Great work!

I have decided to start weighing in on Mondays from now on. It'll fit in neater with MFP and also hopefully stop me from being too bad over the weekend. I'm going out for dinner with DH on Saturday to a place thats not that diety, and will share a bottle of wine too, but i'll go to the gym for a bumper session before hand and be supergood on Sunday so hopefully the scales won't be so bad on Monday!

I redid my stats this morning. I think i'll post them up on here as a monthly thing, but they are getting slightly smaller (in the last 10 days....) Like you Quorn, No loss on my 'biceps', but a loss everywhere else. I used an online bodyfat calculator to calculate my start and current body fat %. Start was 34.3% (31% + is obese Blush)but i'm now 29.4% (In the 25 - 31% 'acceptable' range) I'm quite pleased with that.

Good luck to you all.

quornsausages · 01/10/2011 01:17

Hi all, hope you've had a good day!

Well done MrsMustard on the body fat loss, that's amazing!
Also, well done Fairybluebell on the meal plans, wish I could be so organised - just seem to be eating snack foods all the time!

Had an ok day, went out with friends tonight and so I held back all day. I just had a panini so I'm under my calorie goal for the day.

My game came today but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I haven't done a workout either so no exercise cals for today.

Have a great weekend everybody - catch up tommorow!

quornsausages · 01/10/2011 09:13

Good morning!

Felt a bit smaller this morning so decided to weigh and now 11st 2lb, so lost 5lbs in total since I started. Can't wait to get to 10st something.

My hoover accidentally sucked up my measuring tape the other day, so I'll have to buy a new one before taking the measurements. I don't fancy digging it out of the hoover bag!

DH is having a lie in, so may try out the new EA Sports active 2 now in a bit after I've had a couple of cups of teas to wake up! Hope it's ok to set up!

Sorry, feel like I'm updating all the time for the smallest little thing/ thought, but I haven't really discussed it in real life with anyone (apart from DH/ my sis) and this is definately keeping me motivated! With losing weight, I've always had to become 'obsessed' (like keeping it in the front of my mind all the time - rather than staving/ exercising too much) otherwise it just falls by the wayside.

Hope everyone has a lovely day, it looks like it's going to be a sunny day again. Did you know that the radio times has a voucher for a free family entry to a national trust property this weekend? It's £1.20. Think we may go to a garden type place so hope to get a fair bit of walking in.

OP posts:
MeanMrsMustard · 01/10/2011 11:55

Good Morning!
Well done on the loss Quorn. Its great when you wake up feeling light! I love that, although sadly I'm not quite there yet... (Infact it was partly waking up feeling like I was made of stone yesterday that made me decide not to get on the scales till Monday).

I've had a pretty domestic morning, and am now waiting for my supermarket delivery to arrive before I can go swimming. DH and I were going to go out for dinner tonight, but due to the weather we have put it back a week or two, and are just going to have a BBQ and enjoy the garden instead. Its a healthier option too which is good. I was a bit worried about going out for a big meal this early in the diet.

Who here does the 30 shred dvd? I've just ordered it from Amazon, and am now feeling very nervous about it! It would be good to hear of any of your experiences, including weightloss/inch loss.

Tibni - I hope you are having a fab birthday weekend away! Everyone else - hope you are having an equally fab weekend doing whatever you are doing.

Will (hopefully!) be reporting how much I lost on MOnday.

tibni · 01/10/2011 17:40

Hello, I am back. Had a fab time. We went away mid week to be back for weekend due to childcare being easier on school days and less disruptive to ds routine.

Well done quorn on your weightloss. Please keep up with your updates, they help keep me motivated too.

MrsMustard - enjoy your barbeque. I have the shred dvd but have never done the 30 day programme as I like to use the gym where possible. I think the dvd is very good, only advice would be to add a bit of extra stretching after to stop tightness the next day.

Well I indulged while away but I still think about my choices without spoiling my break. So I had breads and creamy risotto with my italian but didnt do constant coffee and cake and I am sure organic ice-cream must be healthy! Wink.

Tomorrow I will be back at the gym sweating!

quornsausages · 02/10/2011 11:18

Hi all,

Glad you had a lovely time away Tibni! Hope you enjoyed your BBQ Mrsmustard, was certainly the weather for it!

Mrs Mustard, I've not done the shred, but my sister has done it and said it was ok if a bit achey afterwards. She's got a basic level of fitness (walks/ cycles regularly and she's been doing workout classes twice a week for the last few months, but not mega fit iyswim).

If you want to see results from people, go to community - success stories on Myfitnesspal and there'll be threads there with people's results from it, including some with pictures. You can see it definitely works.

Had an ok day yesterday, got lots of walking/ gardening and a short 15 min workout so burnt lots of calories. Made bad choices with food (high fat/ cal stuff), but stayed well under calorie goal with all the exercise cals added on. Was such a lovely day yesterday, my daughter paddled in the sea - couldn't believe it was October!

This morning I tried the EA Sports Active 2 Game on the Wii. I've signed up to a nine week program but I'm not sure if I like it. I think I preferred my old workout game better as it was simpler and ran smoothly (and a 15min/30min workout means exactly that).

I may continue with both and see if the new one gets better. You wear a sensor on your arm and leg and it connects with the Wii, there's a lot of stop/ starts while you get it 'right', so it was my fault really but it's just a bit irritating (I was shouting at it about 10 mins in and it takes a lot to test my patience!).

I've decided I quite like dieting/ working out this way with Myfitnesspal, seems so simple - Cals in v's Cals out, very basic, nothing to convert to points or syns or whatever. (Let's see if I say the same a few months down the line, probably not Grin).

Have a great day everyone!

Hi all, can I join you?

I dropped from 12 stone to 10 stone 4lb after having my son, by calorie counting on foodfocus. Then I put over a stone back on again Hmm and went up to 11 stone 7. Now I weigh 10 stone 6lb, having lost a stone in about 6 weeks :)

I would like to weigh 8 stone 10lb. I am 5 foot 7 and within healthy BMI again, but would like to be towards the lower end.

I have cut down on carbs, but am not following a specific diet.

Today I have eaten crunchy nut cornflakes with semi skimmed milk and 1/4 chopped banana for breakfast.

Lunch was a bowl of mussels in Thai green sauce and I managed to resist the bread.

Snack: a refresher lolly

Dinner: Will be having a salmon salad with low fat dressing and reduced fat coleslaw.

Lots of cups of tea and a white choc options drink if I can find where I put the sachet!

princessglitter · 02/10/2011 15:34

Will try to find the measuring tape and post my measurements later. Last time I measured it was something ridiculous like 29" waist and 41" hips! Am quite curvy, but I have to be careful as I am prone to putting weight on my hips!

quornsausages · 03/10/2011 00:14

Hi all, welcome princess glitter Smile! Well done on the weightloss.

Had an ok day, again burnt lots of calories through workouts, walking and gardening.

Bought a new game today for the PS3 (you don't need the MOVE or camera bits, they are optional, I don't have them), it's Get Fit with Mel B (or some title like that). It was pre-owned in GAME for £2.99 and well worth it if you can get one. Was very out of breath and sweaty in a 15 min workout.

May weigh tommorow, if I feel light waking up!

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Hello all,

Good day yesterday - managed a really good work out and my food was ok too.

Waiting till 9am so I can call payroll and find out whose wages I got this month because much as I would like them to be they certainly are not mine! Then off to the gym.

Just starting to feel like my head is in the right place for this. I really want to feel healthy. Still have the remainder of a cold so Im not running at the moment but managed 600 cals on cross trainer then did some strength work. Aiming for at least the same again today!

Quorn well done on all the exercise.

Welcome princessglitter.

Hope the rest of you all had good weekends.

MeanMrsMustard · 03/10/2011 10:24

Hello and good morning!
I've just weighed myself and have lost 2.5lbs this week - (8.5lbs in total). Still got 2stone to go, but hey, I'm 1/5th of the way there.
I had a good weekend - Lovely healthy bbq on Saturday, and met up with a friend yesterday. I kept with in my calorie allowence both days. Exercise wise I tried to go swimming on Saturday ,but after only 16 lengths the pool was shut due to a chlorine issue. I didn't have my gym kit with me so just had to leave(and eat a frozen yogurt to cheer myself up). Not having extra exercise calories to eat made me make healthier choices at the BBQ though, so I guess it worked out well... I swam 100 lengths yesterday. It took me a while as I am a slow swimmer, but I swam it in one go instead of stopping to break in the jaccuzzi or steam room, which felt good. I'm back off to the pool in an hour for todays exercise.
I looked at the 30 day shred before and after pics on MFP. Some of them are very impressive! I don't think my dvd will turn up till the end of the week, but i am going to take before and after pics and stats (and might even put them on my profile for a bit). I've also got a session with a personal trainer tomorrow. Its mainly just to make sure I',m getting the most out of my trips to the gym. At the moment i'm either going swimming or randomly using cardio machines.

Well done on the exercise Quorn and Tibni.

Good luck today everyone.

MeanMrsMustard · 03/10/2011 10:25

Oh, and welcome Princessglitter.

Yummygummybear · 03/10/2011 12:04

Just a quick hello as I'm skiving working.

I haven't completely fallen off the wagon but had a little shake up over the weekend due to a night out which included a fair amount of drinking & then eating twice my calorie allowance yesterday Blush. Due to WI today & have gained 1lb but have decided to move WI day to Wed as Monday is always a tough one as I tend to treat a bit more over the weekend.

Need to Shred again today (despite the heat making it 100 times harder) as won't be able to get out to the gym this week.

I haven't had time for a proper read through, I hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to any new faces :)

x

quornsausages · 03/10/2011 23:25

Good evening, Hope everyone has had a good day!

Well done on all those cals at the gym tibni! Excellent weightloss Mrs Mustard!

Yummygummybear - don't worry, I think everyone has weekends like that sometimes.

Well, I did weigh this morning and I'm 11st 3 lb. Put on 1lb - not sure why as been exercising and recording my calories (but suspect it may be hormonal/ water retention - I'll try again tommorow and see what happens).

I did some measurements this evening and have lost everywhere except my waist (always collect the most fat in my middle and it's the last place to lose fat too). I'll have to compare measurements from the 1st time, but too tired at the moment.

I can also see that the bit of fat above my c-section scar is getting smaller and that won't show up on my measurements - but to my eye it's shifting slowly. Wish I'd taken 'before' photos now!

Catch up tommorow!

OP posts:
tibni · 04/10/2011 08:47

Hi all,

Visible fat loss is what we are all after quorn - well done. My middle is the area the weight always goes on first too but I take solace in the fact that if I work hard I can get the hour glass shape.

Hi Yummy - hope you really enjoyed your weekend. Life is too short to constantly worry about weight and a weekend off is sometimes just what we need.

Well done MeanMrsMustard on your weightloss and fab swimming. I do gym workouts because I am such a weak swimmer although I do enjoy the odd splash about.

Well I managed a really good session at the gym yesterday - over 800 cals burnt plus strenth work. Got on the scales and I have lost but I am going to check again today because I am wondering if I misread them (gym scales and easily done). Eating has been ok so far but I know it will get tougher. Tonight im on call, tomorrow I am on evening shift and Thursday is my long day so I need to take stock and think about what I am doing food wise.

I am off to the gym again - trying to up the cardio to up the metabolist a bit. I have cut back my coffee a lot but I am getting headaches come the afternoon so I hope that passes soon or I will be a delight at work Smile.

Have a good day.

quornsausages · 04/10/2011 22:23

Good evening! Well done tibni for 800 cals at the gym!

Well that pesky pound was still there this morning, I'm glad I did take measurements now as I would be feeling very downhearted otherwise!

I think this is the point where I usually lose it and get fed up and 'cheat' as I think what's the point of doing this if it's not going anywhere. I'm not going to do that again though. I know I'm doing everything well enough to lose the weight so it's just a matter of time before it comes off again...I hopeSmile.

Had an ok day today foodwise, did a 20 min workout this morning and I was going to do a 15 min workout this evening, but I haven't had much of a chance.

Hope everyone is doing well - catch up tommorow, good night!
