I want to lose 1.5 stone - anyone care to join me?

Right!

I've been intending to lose weight for a few months now and it's getting worse instead of better!

This week I weighed and I am the heaviest I've ever been (11 st 7lb at 5 ft 3in) and I've decided I've had enough. I'm happiest around 10 stone, so I am going to aim for that to start with.

I didn't put on much weight with my pregnancy (DD nearly 3) and I am ashamed to say it has just gradually come on in the last year or so.

Today I recieved a load of clothes which I ordered online from Animal (a rare treat for me as it is soon to be my 35th birthday), I really like them but some are a bit tight and would look much better if I was slimmer (especially the combat style jeans - I have a massive muffin top in them) so I'd like to slim down to fit into them as soon as I can.

I'm planning to do some exercise on the Wii (My Fitness Coach) every day (at least 15 mins but preferably 30 mins) and I am going to log my food using Myfitnesspal.

I recorded my measurements lately, so I'll pin them up here soon as a reminder and update now and again.

Anyone like to join me, or do you mind if I use this as a sort of online diary to keep motivated?

Not sure MeanMrsMustard, it's hard to say - On my wii game it asks for measurements on every 10th workout so I'm going to enter that when it asks me- it's probably going to be every 2 weeks by the time I miss a couple of workouts on the odd day or so.

You want to do it often enough that it keeps you motivated and you can see a difference, but not so often that you don't see a change and it de-motivates you iyswim?

hi guys, space for another one?
i have gained around 2 st in the past year Shock going from a size 8 to a size 12 (pushing on 14)
and since i dnt want to throw away my skinny clothes i m gna start on this epic weight loss quest.
i usually fall of the plan in about a week so thought i would need some help and hence want to join your ranks.

quornsausages · 21/09/2011 11:05

Hi Vanfurgston, welcome Smile and good luck!

Yes, I normally give up after a week or so when I go alone (or just 'intend' to lose weight). I won't this time though and this thread will be a good motivator to keep going.

Hi all,

Can I join too please?

I'm hoping to finally get motivated to see it through to the end & lose weight for the very last time!

I am 5ft 4 & weighed 12st 11lb on Monday. I would like to get down to 10st but have set a smaller goal of 11st 7lb by Christmas.
Hmm, haven't measured myself in a while but I will get around to doing that.

My plan is to eat less, exercise more! :) I have lost with WW in the past but I am fed up of counting points/syns/calories...I know what I shouldn't and shouldn't eat & how much of it, I have been doing this long enough.

Finding it fairly difficult to fit in as much exercise as I would like. I work, have a school age child & 9 month old baby. DH works FT & also volunteers a couple of evenings a week. I am a member of the gym so I am going to try & get there at least once a week. I have ordered the 30 day shred dvd & have dusted off my wii fit for the last couple of days. Once I get going I love to exercise, especially classes but I can't fit them in at the moment so it will be snatched minutes here & there.

Today I have had a bowl of porridge & will shortly have turkey & salad in a pitta bread with a smidgen of light mayo :)

Hope everyone is having a good day!

WinterLover · 21/09/2011 17:22

Hey everyone, I skipped my weigh in on Monday as AF came so didnt want to depress myself. However jumped on the scales today and I believe ive lost 1lb so im happy!

Been doing the Hannah Watermans DVD a few times but finally got my arse in gear doing it properly now Grin

thehairybabysmum · 21/09/2011 22:02

Hi, ate loads if crap today but am blitzing it from tmw! Will do my measurements and am fairly confident that will spur me on!!

quornsausages · 21/09/2011 22:31

Hi all and welcome to yummygummybear Smile. Hope you've all had a good day!

Well done winterlover on losing a pound, that's great newsGrin!
Hairybaby - think everyone gets days like that, glad you are going to blitz it tommorow!

Well - I've just finished logging all my food and exercise for the day and I've burnt off 214 calories from doing workouts today on the Wii (30 mins this afternoon and then 15 mins this evening). I've ate 1550 cals.

I just did my measurements, they are:

Bicep - 12 inches
Chest - 35 and 3/4 inches (along bra line)
Waist - 35 and 1/2 inches
Hips - 37 and 1/4 inches
Thighs - 21 and 1/2 inches

I couldn't get the previous measurements from my wii game, but according to the graph it shows a loss on everything but my bicep and thigh (don't think it was a huge loss though - like fractions of an inch). I'm pretty happy it's going in the right direction especially as I had a weekend away which was bad(ish) food/ exercise wise.

I will weigh in the morning and update here

hangs head in shame
overate and its my first day too :(
on the positive side (have to find a silver lining) didnt eat anything fatty just a LOT of the good food
i always struggle with portions

Yummygummybear · 22/09/2011 10:26

Never mind Van. Today is a new day :)

Quorn, you sound like you are really in 'the zone'. I hope it has paid off on the scales!
Thank you for posting the link to My fitness pal. I am converted! I am sick to death of on line diets calorise counting, point counting etc who never have hardly of the foods on their database. I feel like I end up paying to fill up their product details! MFP is not like that at all & the barcode scanner on the phone app is super duper! I am amazed it is freeee! Fantastic!

Well done on the lb off Winter.

Hairy baby, enjoy the blitz today! I always feel so much better after a whole day of healthy eating :)

I managed a good day with food yesterday. I worked out for 15 mins on the Wii fit & had planned to go to the gym but unfortunately never made it there due to other things getting in the way. Hopefully I can get tonight when DH gets home from work.

Hi to everyone else. Hope you all have a good day

fannybaws · 22/09/2011 11:06

Can I join to please ladies? I am 12 stone at 5ft4 so a bmi of 29.
I have joined food focus and am going to try to move more.
Ds5 is 9 months old and still breastfeeding so my diet aid I hope Smile
Have had three babies in 5 years and never quite got down to pre preg weight, I am aiming for 10 stone too.
My downfall is evening eating so that is the habit I am going to break.
Hello all .....waves flabby arm....

vanfurgston · 22/09/2011 14:32

hey yummygummy, i have started better today and am determined to carry it through
wishing every1 a healthy day today

quornsausages · 22/09/2011 16:56

Hi fannybaws, welcome Smile!

Yummygummy glad you like myfitnesspal, I know what you mean about syns and points etc....it seems it only works while you are doing it and paying for meetings. As soon as I try to go it alone then, I find it very hard to work things out so I think counting cals on myfitness pal is pretty straightforward. I haven't tried the phone bar code reader yet, but my sister uses her husbands Iphone and says it's pretty easy.

Had a bit of a heavy afternoon foodwise - was offered a couple of sweet things in an event this afternoon and took them (about 650 cals up) so will have to curb it this evening to stick to under 1500 cals and also try and be more aware next time.

Planning to do a workout this pm/evening so hopefully will burn off more.

Feeling a bit of a downer, just weighed and I'm 11st 6lb (not on the same scales though - used my Wii board to weigh and will continue to weigh now using that so it'll be more accurate in future weigh ins. Though I guess I did have quite a 'bad' birthday weekend away and just though 'sod it' at the time so I'm paying for it now. I'm not going to let it put me off, I'm determined to fit into those jeans comfortably!!!! Perhaps I'll weigh in a couple of days time to see if I've worked off the weekend food!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hey everyone, sounds like people have had a good day! I walked the dog for a good hour today and had four pancakes with lemon and sugar. I know that's not good but so far today the are the only thing I have eaten, which is an improvement! And we have broccoli and Stilton soup for dinner.

I will take my measurements tomorrow.

quornsausages · 23/09/2011 09:14

Good morning everyone!

Had a pretty bad day yesterday - ate 1845 cals and didn't do a workout.

Plan to do a workout today (at least one. If energetic, one half hour and one quarter of an hour later in the day). Plan to stick to under 1400 calories.

I was chatting to my sister on the phone last night and I said that I hadn't done too well on the calories yesterday - she said that she was doing a 'zig zag'. Sticking to mostly 1200 cals but rising to 1700 cals a couple of times a week so the body doesn't go into 'starvation mode'. She said it seems to be working for her. Perhaps I don't feel so bad about yesterday after all!

Hope everyone has a good day!

OP posts:
MeanMrsMustard · 23/09/2011 09:56

Morning!
I don't think 1845 cals is too bad! I remeber there being an unofficial weightwatchers plan which mixed up the weekly points so some days you were eating less than normal and some days you were allocated something like double your normal points (very handy for celebrations!), but by the end of the week it was ballanced out. People followed it for a few weeks when they hit a plateau and, like your sister said, it kick started weightloss again. 1400 cals is pretty unmanagable day in day out (I'm trying to stick to it too!), but even if you slip up and eat 2000 cals one day every week, your still looking towards a very good weekly loss. Especially with all that exercise!

I've just signed up to myfitnesspal on the iphone. I think I'm being thick, but I can't work out how to add exercise or how to add in my own food quantities.

I weighed myself this morning and i have lost 6lbs this week! Granted, a lot of it will be water retention, but hey. I'm 12st 3.5lbs now. I really want to get into the 11s for tghe 7th Oct, so i need 2lbs loss a week for that. Better head back to the gym...

Good luck everyone!

FairyBlueBell · 23/09/2011 13:11

Hi All

Have had a great week (so far) staying under calorie goal and doing some exercise every day!

Patiently waiting on the postman bringing the Shred DVD to me and plan to clear an exercise space in my home-office later today so I can bounce around in private Blush

quornsausages · 23/09/2011 13:21

Wow MrsMustard - 6lb is great! What a boost towards your goal and a boost to your motivation!

Well done Fairybluebell for having a great week! Hope your Shred comes soon!

Having an OK morning, took my daughter to a playgroup earlier and there was cake and biscuits etc there. I resisted, pleased with myself. Ate one Nice biscuit which suprisingly has less than 40cals, and that's only because my daughter had taken one bite and decided she didn't want it and I didn't want to put it back on the plate. Normally I'd have sat and filled my face.

Hava a good day everybody. Will update later.

Had a great day yesterday, even went to the pictures and didn't buy any munchies!! Today good so far too, weighed 11st5 this am.

I have a 3 hour training session in tae kwondo on sun am so figure I can prob eat whatever I want tmw Grin

Mind you it is prob this attitude that has made me weigh so much in the first place!!

thehairybabysmum · 23/09/2011 19:18

Sounds like everyone else doing great! Well done for resisting the playgroup biscuits!

quornsausages · 23/09/2011 19:35

Hairybaby - hope you enjoy your tae kwondo, is it something you have done for a while or are you just starting off? Sounds interesting!

OP posts:
thehairybabysmum · 23/09/2011 19:53

Have done it for years, but not graded since I have had them...5 years plus! I do enjoy it, though am crapping myself about my next grading...hence going to the 3 hour session!!

quornsausages · 23/09/2011 23:24

Good luck with your grading hairybaby, can you only go up one belt at a time or can you achieve a high level grade in one go? (I assume it is belts, the same as most martial arts - I'm not sure?). Perhaps you'll get black belt in one go if you've been doing it over 5 years!!!Grin

Well today has not been so bad - apparently burnt off 211 calories from a 30 minute walk and a 30 minute workout (focusing on core muscles). Have ate 1534 calories (so ate my exercise calories too). Haven't felt too hungry so that's a good thing.

Will catch up in the morning - have a good weekend everybody!

OP posts:
quornsausages · 24/09/2011 12:16

Morning all, hope you're all having a great SaturdaySmile.

I weighed this morning to see if I'd shifted some of the 'bad weekend' off, I weighed on the wii fit and it's showing as 11st 4lb. Quite pleased it's shifting (though it is cheating weighing in the morning when I'd previously done it in the eveningBlushWink).

I can't wait to get to 10 stone something and feel more of a 'normal' weight for me. It's shocking how much it creeps up without you noticing.

I must say, this method of updating on a thread like this a couple of times a day seems to be working well for my motivation. I hope it continues like this. I've previously only lost weight with slimming clubs, and I'd sort of 'forget/cheat' mid week and then it would be a mad dash to lose some weight by the next meeting. Updating this thread keeps me in the 'zone' all the time without putting on too much pressure.

This weekend should be ok, I've not got that much on as my husband has a cold and toothache so I don't think we'll be doing much!

Today I plan to do a workout of 30 mins and stick to 1400 cals (and maybe eat my exercise calories too).

Have a great day, will update later.

Can I join you ladies?
So far this year I had a weight loss of around 1.5 stone, still needing to lose another 1 stone.
However in the last 2 months I got lazy with my exercise and diet so have gained 5lbs Blush

Need some hand holding please to get me back into running and eating healthy.

quornsausages · 24/09/2011 21:32

Hi all, hope you've had a good day! Welcome Butterfly experience Smile!

Well I've just submitted my food diary and I'm 26 cals under my goal (including calories from walking slowly for 90 mins (shoppingBlush). I'm still bl**dy starving though! Could easily eat a round of toast or something snacky like that. I won't ruin it though, I think I'll make a cup of tea instead.

Haven't done my workout, maybe I'll do it now in a bit (a short 15 min one) and then have a cuppa!

Catch up tommorow!
