Starting a low carb diet - anyone interested in going for it with me?!

I did this very successfully indeed for about 6 weeks in the run up to the summer break. I have been trying to lose weight for a while and was doing OK but then reached a plateau which was when I decided to try something new. And I easily lost a stone doing this.

It was hard in the beginning, for about the first week, then I sort of settled in to it and it just became how it was. And I like the rules of it, because you just can't cheat on it. But it was sometimes hard juggling what the family were going to eat.

I have been cutting down since Tuesday, but will be going for it completely on Monday 5th. I want to lose a stone. Is anyone interested??!!!

I also have a very dear friend who is living with anorexia as an adult and manages well, it will always be part of her life, but when she was younger she too was hospitalised for it. She can't bear me dieting at all, it worries her a great deal, so we just don't talk about it, even though I've lost 4 stone now, she never mentions it. It's just easier.

Looking forward to the Christmas meet up, tis my target too. No idea what to wear though Grin

I haven't quite worked out my cunning plan in full, but I will share it with you when I do.

Did any of you see Channel 4's The Food Hospital last night? The diabetic guy was especially interesting.

They put him on a 600 (I think - could have been 800) calories per day regime for 4 weeks (or was it 6 - my memory is clearly not brilliant! Blush) and he lost 2 1/2 stones and his diabetes went into remission.

I'm actually a little bit worried as I won't know anybody

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/11/2011 16:28

catinboots - Yes BIWI and RnB I believe.
Don't worry though because you know us slinky low carb malinkies Grin and I will look out for you! I've only met two people going before so I'm not much further along.

Yes I'm going!

Don't worry. Once you've got the first drink in your hand, you'll be fine.

I'm here!!

I am fully back in ketosis now but haven't lost this week. I am now on my month until the Christmas do, and really hope to have reached my target weight by then. That's another 4 pounds so that should be achievable, although the closer I get. the more of mountain it seems!

I'm here too kotinka but it's my birthday and DH has been dispatched to pick up a curry, the man says it comes with 1 x rice and 1 x nan .....wish me luck! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/11/2011 19:09

Envy at the curry, but I am in the zone now Hmm And on ++ on my little sticks, so all is good.

Still could eat the curry, I'd have chicken madras and rice and dhal and probably a spinachy thing. With beers

I'm actually going to have a slim gin. Cheers!

cardoon · 04/11/2011 21:33

It tastes OK, surprisingly good actually in strawberry or chocolate flavours, or with vanilla extract if unflavoured.......

Sounds interesting kotinka......I see you can get the xanthum gum from the same place as the protein mix and one of the reviewers uses it to thicken sauces/deserts, could be quite useful.

Not much cooking going on in this house today..... Blush

Hello ladies, I'm afraid I'm going to be leaving you all. As much as I had success with the diet I've decided it's no longer for me. When I stop enjoying a diet it's time for me to move on!

Good luck to you all. I look forward to meeting those who will be at the London meetup in a few weeks!
