kid - I know about the shop sizes it's insane. I'm a monsoon 12 but tried some marks and Spencer jeans on on a 16. Bizarre!! We were the same with takeaways, we still have one a fortnight when DD is being a monkey

kid · 07/09/2011 23:24

we tend to have a takeaway on Fridays but I choose carefully. If we have chinese, I'll just have chicken chowmein. I'm also more than happy to eat a chicken shish kebab but thats about it. I do enjoy having a night off from cooking but its been great this week.

I think as I was struggling physically with the gym classes, I've made the decision that there is no point in putting myself through that and then stuffing my face with rubbish.

LittlePushka · 07/09/2011 23:51

Hi sofabitch. Welcome to the team! I hope that you find the SW diet works for you. I do EE also though I do not at a third meat. I eat very little meat (some chicken and some tuna once or twice a week and that is it) I find EE very easy to do - though I do miss bread. that said I have lost half a stone in 4/5 weeks and I feel great. It is a great feeling once clothes are more comfortable. So stick with it.

i struggle to make exercise classes for various reasons but I have bought some of the 10 minute solutions series of execrcise dvd's and I will do those ocasionally.

I also agree with cheese - dont look at 7 stone - look at each stone or half stone and the seven will take care of itself.

I am hugely inspired by the list by the way - I look at starting weights and total losses and think what an amazing bunch of women....and I want to be that too!

keep popping in for a chat and let us know how you are doing. I think kung fu is a newish starter, and whatswrong, and our kid - she is back on the bus out of dodge this week too. Ria will be on the bus again soon,...WON'T YOU RIA???? Wink. Loads of lovely people call in - good luck with week 1.

whatkungfuthat · 08/09/2011 07:58

Morning everyone, sorry I haven't been around much. Welcome sofabitch, I agree with what everyone else says, break the loss down. I would like to lose a similar amount. I did it last year and lost 3.5 stone but put quite a lot back on Blush. A woman in my old group who kept going posted on facebook a few months back that she had lost 75lbs so she would have lost loads more by now, it definitely works. Having said that I can't seem to lose much at the moment, but I have only just started exercising and we have eaten out a lot so you can't have everything. I am sure I'm also starting a(fairly) early menopause which is making things very odd

cheese I am Envy at 12/14
ria I get called Nessa, and sometimes when I out guys people come up to me and say 'do you know who you remind me of..' DP just roll his eyes and says 'tidy'. I don't have the wales tattoo though or the dress sense!

DS2 got up in the night and I couldn't believe how cold it was when I put him back in his bed, felt like the dead of winter.

Food:
Toast and banana
fruit salad and ML
Chicken and roasted veg cooked in passata

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 07:59

Thanks guys. I resisted eating my lunch last night Grin I think it looks good probably why I fancied it so much. Although I'm really struggling with what to have for breakfast ? I thought I had brought in loads and loads of food. But obviously not Blush I'm sure I'm eating way more than normal.

Sounds like you guys are doing great! I know what you mean about sizes. I'm hoping to fit back in to my clothes really quickly because at the moment I'm living in 1 pair of jeans and 1 pair of shorts as I refuse to buy anything bigger lol. And I have some lovely size 18's in the attic that I want to wear again before they become to moth eaten Grin

Does anyone else suffer with an underactive thyroid? I've been using mine as an excuse for years. But I've done a load of research and have discovered it is doable to loose weight. You just have to be determined.

whatkungfuthat · 08/09/2011 08:01

Also, anyone who has access to my facebook, a lot of my friends are musicians and can be a bit odd, feel free to 'hide' me if we get on your nerves!

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 08:02

Sorry also meant to say. We eat loads of take outs. Which is going to be a night mare. I've had a look and lamb organ Josh is about 6 syns. Does anyone know how many syns are in mushroom rice?

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 08:07

*organ??? Sorry I phone auto correct. Should say rogan Josh.

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 08:08

Morning everyone!

Will catch up properly with you all later - just wanted to say, loving the "lust" list last night. There will be no lust in this house... my boots haven't arrived yet Wink.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Beans on toast, an apple and a yogurt
Quorn chilli and rice

OP posts:
Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 08:33

My food for the day is

Salad made with lean bacon and new potatoes. And low fat French dressing.

Dinner is quorn sausages sweet potato mash and loads of veg. Plus I'm going to make some gravy. Am I right in thinking stock cubes are free? So I only have to syn the cornflower?

I'm still working on breakfast. When I get my break later I'm going to nip to tesco for a bag of fruit. Or Maybe some raspberries. With total 0% with sweetener.

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 08:59

Right then, the catch up.

Welcome to Sofabitch and welcome back Obrigada Smile
Littlepushka Weetabix and nicotine nope, I don't touch the stuff. Funny though.
Cheese Fab clothes, and those jeans look so small!
Sofabitch Don't look at the 7 stone as a whole. I had about the same to lose myself, and I started by aiming at the club 10, and now it's all about that next half stone, or getting into the next stone down. Makes it a lot more achievable.
Ria Yay for the exercise bug! (care to send it my way?). Yes, do let dh look after the dc for you and do more for yourself. And I hope the shoulder prognosis isn't as bad as you think.
Kid On the cooking front, I try to do a couple of things a week that will do two nights, so I cook properly one night, and then reheat the leftover version another day. Works quite well for me.

OP posts:
Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 09:09

Great news about the inhaler Smile. I'm about the same height as you I'm 5'2/3" depending on when I measure myself. but I'm very pear shaped. So usually about 2 sizes bigger on bottom than top.

whatkungfuthat · 08/09/2011 09:15

Yes great about the inhaler bee. I'm 5' 5" and I suppose 'hourglass' is the shape nearest to mine but that sounds better than in reality Grin I hate having big boobs and have grooves in my shoulders where straps dig, unless I wear the hated 'Doreen' bras from Triumph. I'm uniformly fat all over, not one of those people who have good legs till it gets to the thighs, my fat starts at the cankles.

SlinkyB · 08/09/2011 09:43

Wow, had an early night last night and took me a while to catch up!

cheese Love the clothes; I was trying on H&M skinny jeans on Monday! Have come to the conclusion that they will never suit me, due to my, erm, "child-bearing" hips?! So am sticking to bootcut (yawn). Am currently finding my size 16 jeans are too baggy, but my old 14's too small (I can just about do them up, but sitting is painful !) I'm 5ft 7".

ria yes please send the exercise bug this way! Usually look forward to Zumba on a Thursday night, but tonight MIL is babysitting so that dp and I can have a very rare "date night". Going to a local Italian, but not planning on drinking and will just stick to a tomato-based main with no cheese...well, that's the plan! Wink

Big food shop this afternoon, MUST remember to eat lots of healthy lunch first so I'm not tempted by junk later.

Oh, well done all you losers this week by the way! I've no idea how I lost 3lbs, but re-weighed this am and it's correct Confused Good luck on the re-weigh cheese

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 10:03

My body shape has gone a bit odd Grin Think weeble (ah, love the 70's) but just above the waist I have a podgy roll, and below it I have the good old kangaroo pouch, for want of a better description! It's the podgy roll that sticks out with tops etc though. Hopefully another couple of stone off should see it start to go... Hmm

Cankles... the reason for me having to buy wide calf boots. Boo! Legs wise, I have always thought my thighs looked like two baby seals Grin

Just having a nice cuppa, then off to make the chilli for later.

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 10:11

Right reweigh done:

cheese has lost 1lb this week, start weight 13st3lbs, now weighs 11 stone 13lb, total lost 1stone 4lb

Am Grin with that. I am 5ft 3 but am carrying most of my weight on my tummy and boobs post baby. So am still 14/16 top. I think the only thing that is going to get rid of that is exercise. I have to say, my legs are looking pretty good with all the exercise, they are getting really toned. Hence, the skinny jeans shame about the fat arse

slinky I love bootcut jeans, my mum gave me these cropped jeans in a 12 and they are lovely, tiny bit tight on the tum. She also gave me these in a 14 jeans. Mum has lost over 2 stone with SW and is now a size 10-12. Have fun tonight, am jealous.

bee good news about asthma, I always tell my asthmatics to drop a bit of weight (pot and kettle, I know) as that can help! Why can't you leave DC with DH? Am so impressed with your fabby weight loss by the way, you are going so so well.

sofa stockcubes are free so only include cornflour in your synnage. MMMMM organ josh . The rogan josh is fab.

Food for today:
B: Omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes
L: Tomato, lentil and bacon soup with hobbit toast (HEB)
D: Chicken dhansak, rice and chana masala side dish (made by myself NOT from our local indian restaurant)
Snacks: ML yog, blueberries/rasps/strawbs
HEA: Skim milk

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 10:11

Oh and Xmas aim is to weight 10st 10lb - has a nice ring to it!

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 10:32

Arf at organ josh - might not be so wide of the mark in some places Grin

Yay for being in the next stone Cheese

Dh. He's epileptic. Now, in the time I have known him he has only had 2 big fits in the daytime (the big ones normally occur at 1am ish when they happen and thankfully not often), but the mini ones can happen anytime. For example, we were at the market a few weeks ago. He was pushing ds in the pram and I was bent down talking to dd at a stall. Looked up and dh had wandered off leaving ds in the middle of the road (thankfully pedestrianised for the market) and was all blank. Didn't even know he'd done it. His blood pressure is stupidly high and gp thinks this is causing it. It was 220 ish over 120 ish. So now he is on 3 types of pills for the bp and last check was 156 over 108. But I can't trust him Sad Maybe I worry too much, but I'm sure others would do the same as me.

OP posts:
grinningbee · 08/09/2011 10:38

Might get that message deleted in a bit - let me know when you've read it Cheese. The whole thing really upsets me.

Anyway. Time to make chilli!

OP posts:
SlinkyB · 08/09/2011 10:38

Ooh, am tempted to join you on the 10st 10lbs for Xmas goal! Although honestly can't remember the last time I was 10st-something?! According to my old SW book, I think it was 5+ years ago, when I was a funky singleton in her mid-twenties. Aah, those were the days

Those jeans do look nice, ta for the links. Think I'm going to hold off buying any new clothes for a few more weeks to see if I can then confidently buy a size 14, and breath whilst wearing them too!

Hmm, might attempt a SW curry tomorrow night then, will be my first one so just off to peruse recipes before writing shopping list out...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 10:53

Don't get it deleted.

Poor you and poor DH. sounds like your Gp is doing the right things. It's very important he exercises and keeps his weight down with a BP like that. Sounds frightening, I can see why he can't be left alone. Do you have fam around to help out.

Come on slinks be my Xmas bud - I'll even send you a wee Xmas pressie if you manage it!

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 11:17

No, the family don't babysit. Worst of it is (and this will be the last mention of it) that when he has these episodes, he doesn't know, and when I tell him he goes through not believing me and being angry, telling me I'm making him paranoid, and then finally accepting he did have one.

Hey ho.

It'd be a miracle, but I do like a challenge Grin
Dd has just asked me to take her socks off for her. Then said "smell it mummy". Odd child! GrinGrin

obrigada · 08/09/2011 11:20

Thanks for welcome back:), weighing in at 12st 3lb, am 5ft 3", with big boobs and big tummy Blush. I work full-time and to be honest I am tired of trying to think of what to cook for dinner etc. I know in theory that I really need to work out my menu for the week and shop accordingly but just never seem to get round to it.
Hope I am not being too cheeky but can I ask you all to give me an idea of your daily food plan and it might give me some ideas and then I can work out my menu plan
Kid can I ask for your recipe re fusilli, rich tomato, onion and olive sauce .... love pasta Wink

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 11:37

Sounds tough bee.

obrigada a lot of us post our daily food menus on here so look through the thread. Weekly planning is the key to my success - stops me grabbing things or getting a takeaway!

obrigada · 08/09/2011 12:11

Will read through thread so Cheese, problem is my only internet access is at work and as you can imagine time is limited to read through thread.
Oh and absolutely love Gavin & Stacey Grin
