I love weekly planning. I sit down on a Tuesday night, ask dh if he has any recipes he'd really like for the following week, then write my list.

This week for example:

SW fryup - sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes
Quorn chilli - does 2 nights
Shepherd's Lentil Pie - does 2 nights
Sweet chilli chicken - does 2 nights

The recipes for those are here along with loads of other yummy things.

I am also buying extra ingredients each week to make and freeze for when I really can't be bothered. So far I have 2 nights worth of beef curry, and 2 of quorn chilli. Need more containers now though! Maybe I was a squirrel in a former life... Grin

I really struggle to make extra portions. As I have to make for 6 so to make enough for 12 wouldn't fit in my saucepans.

grinningbee · 08/09/2011 13:29

Gosh, that's a lot of cooking. Um, large slowcooker?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 14:03

Agree about slow cooker or stock pot. Soups and casseroles?

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/09/2011 14:13

Sad bee. must be tough.

I am 5ft 10, and I suppose hourglass shaped, if I wasn't so damned fat. I am like a weird hybrid of an apple and pear at the moment. My last remaining pair of jeans are currently killing me (as I type), but I have made an effort to look tidy bettr today, so don't want to change into my skanky trackie bottoms for the school run.

Am very proud of myself for eating to plan today so far.

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/09/2011 14:26

can I just ask those of you in the know about shopping, do any of the shops have mens collarless/grandad shirts at the moment? My DS1 has decided he wants one.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 14:43

How old is he ria?

whatkungfuthat · 08/09/2011 15:46

I think I remember from last years thread that there was a soup called 12 speed or something, made from lots of speed food. Anyone heard of this?

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/09/2011 16:12

he is 14, he wears a mens small.
I have heard of speed soup, don't know what is in it though, just superfree veg?

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 16:38

I love soup. I'm going to make a spicy parsnip soup tonight for work tomorrow.

kid · 08/09/2011 16:44

I'm still sticking to plan which is a massive achievement for me!
I really don't fancy gym tonight and I said to dh about cancelling but he talked me in to going. I'm tired though and really, really don't want to go bootcamp Sad

I'll post the pasta, onion, tom, olive recipe when I get back from the torture chamber Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 17:00

Top man, new look? H and m?
Well done kid

DD and I just had a lovely nap together. Now to make dhansak...

obrigada · 08/09/2011 17:13

Cheers Kid, really appreciate it :)
Have fun in the torture chamber .....

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 18:28

Oh no kid. At least your dh encourages you. Mine is the opposite Sad I hope boot camp isn't to bad and you feel better when you get back. The only exercise I'm going to do tonight is soak in the bath as I have a massive headache.

Really good day today. Only 3 1/2 syns so far. Going to have yogurt and pineapple later.

Well done everyone on sticking to plan today

kid · 08/09/2011 19:52

Back from the gym and it was as hard as I thought it would be. I haven't been to bootcamp for such a long time. Even though it was hard and at times I couldn't move or breath, I'm glad I went.

obrigada
Fusili in a rich tomato, pepper + olive sauce
Serves 4. EE= 1 syn, G= 1 syn
Takes 45 minutes

1 Large onion, finely chopped
1 celery stick, finely chopped
3 peppers, deseeded and sliced (I finely chopped mine)
680g passata
olives
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp artificial sweetener
12 oz dried fusili

Put onion and celery in a large saucepan with frylight. Cook covered for 10 mins.
Add 4 fl oz of water and peppers, cook covered for 5 mins.
Pour passata and rinse jar with a little water and add to sauce.
Bring to the boil.
Stir in olives, add vinegar and artificial sweetner, season and cook partially covered (?) for 20 mins or until the sauce is thick.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta, drain and then mix with the sauce.

I also boiled some diced chicken and mixed that in as DH won't eat a meal with no meat in (well he did tonight but thats because I wasn't cooking anything else!)

I cooked Vegetable Lasagne tonight and it was quite nice. The only problem was, on the recipe it said 2x200g fromage frais (or low fat natural yogurt, I can't remember which)
well I decided to only add 1x200g so it was pretty dry by the time it came out of the oven. I'll definitely cook it again but it won't be as dry next time.

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 20:47

Well done for going Smile I would have been tempted to slink into the sauna.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 20:55

Well done kid am very impressed. 3.5 syns is good sofa. am having a glass of wine!
Made dhansak from the curry book - really yum! Will post the recipe later.

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 08/09/2011 21:37

I've been a bit rubbish at posting this week as had first week back at work after 2 weeks off.... went to SW tonight and have gained 1lb :( but I'm actually not that surprised, as went out for a curry last night with work and had poppadums, naan and all sorts of curry that must have been dripping in fat. So 1lb isn't too bad really.

Back straight on it this week as I only need 3lb to have lost my first half stone. Wish me luck ladies!

By the way that pasta recipe looks yum, I'll try it at the weekend. Can't wait for the dhansak recipe....

ledkr · 08/09/2011 21:40

Thanks for rescuing me from the deserted thread cheese just off to sleep as dh is having the baby who only allowed me 2 hrs sleep last night.Id be really interested in that dansak recipe,i was going to make my own up at the weekend.
Am determined to get this weight off now,im fed up with it,will be nice to have this support thanks all.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/09/2011 21:45

Hi all just to say RIA Topshop have grandad shirts ATM.
Everyone's doing so well - must try harder!

Managed a gym session at the weekend plus one of my DVDs on Tuesday, no more exercise since. Better than the previous two weeks' zeros though.
I think exercise must be the key for me as I quickly gain any losses I've made otherwise, which is silly - times when you need or just want a treat will always crop up at times, and if exercise can avoid me gaining on those occasions, I really should be doing it regularly.

Again, must try harder!

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 21:47

Cheese you are in the 11 st bracket!! You are such a girly swot. talking of swottiness how did Big Cheeses exam go?

This is especially for obrigada:(rest of you feel free to complete the listWink

breakfast; Weetabix & nicotine
Lunch: Gammon sauted in diet Tango (apparantly done in diet coke it's rubbish)
Dinner: Organ of Josh (but do ask him first won't you?)

kid · 08/09/2011 21:57

obrigada

This was what I ate today. It probably doesn't strictly comply with EE but I've lost more than a stone doing days similar to these:

Breakfast: weetabix, milk, banana, tea

Snack: snack a jacks

Lunch: Greek salad (boiled eggs, cucumber, onion, tomatoes + 28g feta cheese 2 1/2 syns)
Mullerlight yogurt

Dinner: vegetable lasagne
Curly wurly (6 syns)

I only planned my meals up until today. I'm not brave enough to face the rest of the week without preplanned meals so I need to do that now.

Sofabitch · 08/09/2011 21:58

Grin I'm never going to live that down now am I. Ok. First diet dilemma. Dh friend and his partner have just text and asked if we want take out and beer tomorrow night! Week one how do I avoid a take out ? Or order something healthy ? I'm tempted to cook but I so know I cba after a day at work to come home feed the kids and then prepare a meal for 4 adults.

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 22:01

SW curry book is fab. My DH loves cooking indian food and is a brilliant cook. It is one he has used for years - way before I became too fat to actually warrant its use!

I am also still giggling at the hybrid apple and pear shape!!!!

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 22:11

Food:

B: Weetabix
L: Chicken breast & M&S threa bean salad(3.5 syns - bloomin daylight robbery I say)

D:Jacket pot & beans
Syns: 6 party ring biscuits throughout the day at 1.5 sins each

and an accidental Jaffa cake

(which I scoffed on automatic pilot and unfortunately it was a total eclipse and not possible to remove it from me gob with any modicum of decorum. oops!)
