Ria - I will therefore accept that my cakehole is now officially my jaffa cake hole Wink

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/09/2011 22:16

Sofa, could you request an Indian take-out and order some sort of chick-pea option? I've started having that when I go for a curry (not that that happens often as we're in the sticks!), and it does seem to minimise damage.
Even in my skinny days, I always expected to put on 2lbs after a meaty curry.

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 22:21

Hi whatswrong! How are you doing with the diet, flower?

am a bit Sad I didn't make it to my dance class or the zumba tonight. Had a killer headache and had spent hours slaving over the oven making roast beef. I made dauphinoise potatoes for the first time ever (DS2 hates potato, so I was trying something different to see if he would eat them), have to say I (thankfully) didn't like the look of them, so wasn't even tempted. I must have got it right though as DH knew what it was! (I aren't called Ria for nothingWink). For all the effort I put in, it was depressingly bland. Think it's time DH cooked for us...

thanks for the top shop info.

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 23:07

Ria, can you sort of briefly, tell me about Zumba? Things like how long is the class do you do it with someone? Is it a thing for particular sex or age ? What do you do and how much space do you need and do you need any equipment.....

Yes, I am hopelessly off the radar with new stuff, I only just mastered the hula hoop last year!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/09/2011 23:22

Dhansak added to recipe thread.

Pushka I heart zumba. Its essentially latin american dancing; there is some salsa/meringue (?sp)/ samba/ reggaetron etc. I do it at the gym and on the wii. Most towns etc have classes in church halls etc. There is a range of ages from 18 to prob around 70 and everyone is different shapes, sizes and fitness. Its my fav way to exercise, you don't notice the time passing. Also loving the menu! DH exam went OK he thinks. So keep all your fingers and toes crossed. The next part of it is Halloween. If he passes, he will be a consultant and we can finally leave London.

what no idea about the soup.Sorry!
ledkr didn't want to leave you hanging. How old is the baby? Mine is 6 months. DD is streuggling with her teeth tonight so anticipating a long night. However, she has done 7-7 all week so far so not going to complain. Will take calpol bottle to bed with me.
Ria hope head is better.
kid ta for recipe, will be doing that one soon.

Haven't seen DH since Sunday, starting to feel like something is missing. Sad

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/09/2011 23:51

pushka, I think zumba varies with the instructor. It is a "branded exercise", but the classes I do at the gym are very different to how the dance teacher teaches it. It is very fast paced, and bouncy, done to "dancey" sort of music that is latin-inspired (though sometimes I struggle to find the rhythmBlush). The dance teacher said the instructor isn't supposed to shout or anything, all the instruction is done by gestures. The gym is very shouty. You do it on your own, in a line like aerobics/line dancing, and you only need a strong bra, lots to drink and a towel (for mopping up- there is no floor work or anything). There are some good videos on you-tube. There are a couple of instructors here that do "aqua zumba" too, which sounds like a giggle (and is quite progressive for this area!)

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 23:56

Cheese, cheese, cheese.....what, pray, is reggaetron?? I have no co-ordination at all (I was once in a step class and fell off the step four times in the same session trying to do the same move....teacher told me to go to yoga upstairs instead) but it does sound fun. I just did a 10 minute solutions dvd tonight - belly butt and thight blasters - using this tension rubber band on my legs. Well, I don't know how it happened but after a few lunges and squats with kick backs, I had tied myself up in a cats cradle. DH was wetting himself he was laughing so much (which of course makes a delightful change from me!).

Hope the exams free you from the Big City where do you want to go to?. Consultant Embroiderist - wow,....will be loads of work for him in Lancashire - they love all that sort of stuff there. Wink And cheese - go check Babybel, as long as she is around then nothing is missing - I find a photo of DH very often is as good as the real thing - sometimes better because it leaves less mess.

LittlePushka · 08/09/2011 23:59

Thanks ria, would not need a strong bra though - could just tuck them into my socks/leg warmersWink. Aqua zumba no doubt has the advantage that if you do a sudden movement and a little bit of wee comes out no-one will know...

grinningbee · 09/09/2011 07:57

Morning all!

Ds is still desperately trying to pull himself up. He's doing it now, and has been for the last 20 minutes Confused oh boy is life about to get interesting!

Got everything I have two of crossed for your dh Cheese.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, an apple and a yogurt
Either leftover quorn chilli, or sweet chilli chicken and roast veg

Nothing interesting to say as it's all very boring over here. Might venture out later if the weather looks as if it'll behave.

I really wouldn't worry. I took my mum to zumba. She has no rhythm and she loved it and is going again next week. I have used those bands, they are tricky but at least your provided DH with some entertainment. . I think it is puerto rican.

We would like to move back to the south west or welsh borders. Fingers bloody crossed. The big move won't be till next Aug prob so a wee while to go.

No idea what food looks like today as still at mums. I know I am making some sort of lamb and cous cous thing tonight, will post of any good. If its any good I will post it. Planning on going shopping later, will report back!

Hedgepig · 09/09/2011 09:18

morning, sorry been missing in action for a few days, work does seem to get in the way on MNing Grin

I see signs for Zumba classes but I have so many traumas for childhood ballet classes that I can't cope with dance based exercises at all (mostly cos I keep going in the wrong direction and falling over)

bee just think of all the calories you will burn catching DS, have fun and get the video out.

Cheese It would be good to get out of London, I have everything crossed for DH

I missed DoD this week but went to SW group for a weigh in last night and I have lost 4lb since I was weighed before I went on holiday, god knows how as I have eaten so much crap. I ow have 1st 1lb to target I am in a frenzy of excitement.

best get a wiggle on I suppose

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/09/2011 09:36

not a joyful day here. DH seems to have Given UpSad. News from hospital wasn't helpful, and he is having incredible trouble extracting the money he is owed from his last job.

am very glad it's Friday, it seems to have been a very long week.

study time today.Biscuit

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/09/2011 09:37

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/09/2011 09:37

obrigada · 09/09/2011 12:28

Thanks Whatkung, am more of a crisp lover than a chocolate lover! Savoury over sweet anyday Grin

whatkungfuthat · 09/09/2011 14:11

Tell me about it! I looked really hard at a huge packet of Walkers sweet chilli sensations today, but ultimately resisted.

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/09/2011 16:10

they usually get me too. epecially when they are on offer!

kid · 09/09/2011 16:52

A new thing at work is to put little chocolate bars in the staff room every Friday. I didn't eat one today though, I had an apple instead!

Its take away night tonight, and as I'm too lazy to walk 2 roads away to the bank, I'm going to cook instead.
I'm doing a beef pie (well thats what it's called in SW magazine), its a mince beef base with a mashed swede topping. DH was disappointed when he realised there was no pastry in the pie.
