Oh you are doing really well!! Hope I can do half as well as that, going to just go steady this time, have tried quick fixes before and ended up back at square one or worse!

Im on 1200 calories a day and am under so far today, considering a glass of wine but I dont really need it so will try to resist, maybe have another bowl of soup instead.

So do you live in NZ? Was over for a couple of months in 2006, beautifull place.

nicnacinoonoo · 05/11/2011 09:59

Hi brodyboo I log 30 day shred as circuit training for 20 mins, I looked at threads on there to see what other people did it as and most said that. Although a lot put it as 25 mins but i just calculated the 3 lots of 3-2-1 and 2 mins warm up to get 20.

Hello all,

I've just joined MFP and thought this might be a good place to check in and guilt me into sticking to my calorie allowance.

I'm hoping to lose 1lb a week until Christmas to get me down to my happy weight. Currently 10st but prefer to be 9st 7. I'm 5'10 so not overweight at all but not feeling as good in my clothes as I like to and have a bit too much fat on me - my weight doesn't come from muscle - so I'm not a nice toned shape.

I've fallen into pretty bad food habits lately, just having whatever I fancy whenever I want it, working out to about 1900-2000 cals/day. MFP reckons just over 1300 a day will mean I lose about 1lb a week so that's the plan. First few days will be the test really - as soon as I get back into good habits I find it easy enough to stick to eating less.

I do need to start exercising again - another bad habit I've slipped into. I've got the 30DS DVD but have some sort of irrational fear about dragging it back out. Think I need to just get it over with and start it up again.

Anyway, I'm hoping to weigh 1lb less each Monday morning until Christmas so here goes... wish me luck!

nicnacinoonoo · 07/11/2011 17:03

good luck cherrydrops you sound like me. I was eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted too. I don't have a lot to lose just some stubborn belly fat, but I'm hoping once I get rid of the belly I can then work on getting myself nice and toned.

ohijustdontknowanymore · 07/11/2011 18:57

Blimmin eck. Am poorly again (3rd cold in approx 2-3months).

No running tonight as heading off to bed now so gutted as had one run left on wk4 that I failed to complete last night due to a stitch!

Fingers crossed for this week and weight loss for all.

RGPargy · 07/11/2011 21:43

Hi all, just bookmarking. :)

ladydeedy · 08/11/2011 09:49

hi all. have reached target weight but still feel quite blobby around the middle. Would like to tone up some more and maybe lose a couple more pounds before Christmas so that I can eat and drink at will Christmas and Boxing Day and New Year! Really dont want to start the new year having to lose some weight. Going to stay on the 1250 calories and keep on exercising.... good luck everyone! Christmas is still a way off so there's plenty of time to lose a few lb before then!

RGPargy · 08/11/2011 11:44

God, wont someone PLEASE kick me up the arse!!! I am NOT eating well at the moment and seem to be just about holding off and staying the same. Only because of the exercise, no doubt!! I cant get to grips with eating sensibly. Just stuffing on crap at the moment. H E L P ! ! ! !

ladydeedy · 08/11/2011 12:13

have just eaten bacon roll which was left over from a breakfast meeting... oops. still, can work around it as that can be my lunch (with the fruit I brought in from home) and still have quite a bit to "spend" on dinner tonight... especially as am going for a run this evening. Hope to sneak in a glass of wine too, nom nom.

RGPargy · 08/11/2011 12:20

You're not helping, Ladydeedy lol. :o

nicnacinoonoo · 08/11/2011 12:59

I've only just been able to kick myself into eating better RGPargy try concentrating on making sure you get your 5 a day each day and focus on that to take your mind off other things. That's what I have been doing and it's been working for me so far.
Also I plan what I am going to eat at least one day ahead and mark it all on then I can see where I'm up to and know to stick to what I've put.

ladydeedy · 08/11/2011 14:52

I tend to stick to pretty healthy stuff and just dont ever buy cakes, biscuits, crisps, sweets, puddings etc so we just dont have them in the house. Luckily DH and I dont really have a sweet tooth, so it's not an issue. We do love a glass of wine though! I agree with getting your 5 a day (at least!) and trying to have your foods as natural as possible. So we'd have porridge or yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, sometimes toast and marmite. lunch is wholemeal sandwich or wrap with tuna, salad, houmus, smoked salmon etc some fruit and a yoghurt. Then dinners are fairly straightford stirfry chicken/prawn with veg and rice, baked chicken thighs and veg, a curry with yoghurt and spinach, roast dinner on weekends, scrambled egg with mushrooms and grilled tomato for breakfast on Sundays, baked fish or a fish pie for dinner on fridays... We usually steam our veg.

We get a weekly organic veg box from abel and cole which does really encourage you to base your meals around what you get each week and you try some unusual or different veg too.
if you want to avoid eating rubbish you could try the veg box idea or just order all your groceries online for home delivery, once you have worked out your mealplan for the week. I plan my meals a week ahead and this works out really well for us.
good luck!!

KittyChat · 08/11/2011 17:10

Hi everyone,

Really glad to hear your inspiring results, I sometimes come on here and have a read if I'm feeling a bit weak.

MFP has been a huge education for me. I have realised I just had no idea of the calorific values of food. Today I ate a bread roll, then when I looked it up discovered it was 286 calories! Amazing, in a morbidly horrifying way.

Today's bugbear: people who turn up bearing Tunnock's Teacakes when they know you're on a diet, what's that about?

RGPargy · 08/11/2011 21:44

Thanks everyone. Trouble is, i am my own worst enemy. I know what foods are good and what foods are crap and i know that low carbing works for me but still i manage to do what is worst for me. I do like low carbing but i find it such hard work sometimes, especially at lunch time. For instance if i have time for a quick lunch, "normal" people will just grab a sandwich but i cant really do that if i'm low carbing. I am bored stiff of salad, but am ok with veggies atm. I am loving these low carb "Deli Sticks" that i have found in Asda. They are little sticks of cheese wrapped in meat. Gross really, but sometimes they really do hit the spot.

I have discovered that porridge is working for me for breakfast so that's ok. I am just at a loose end re lunches really. As for dinners, i will just have to make do with what i am cooking for everyone else but just go easy on the carb side of things, i.e. tiny portions of pasta, spuds, rice etc.

The main reason for my failings is i am not focussed at the mo. I keep trying to get into my Paul McKenna "I can make you thin" book but i never seem to get the time to sit down and read it. I feel too embarrassed to read it on the train!

I have spent the day making a home made pasta sauce for DD, have made gingerbread men with DD and then made some strawberry scones when DD went to bed. Not sure if it's a TOM thing with all this baking.... ?

What i need are some words of encouragement and some proverb type pep talks to try and get me focussed again. I so desperately want to lose wait so why on earth am i sabotaging myself?!! Hmm

Sorry for the waffle and well done if you got this far! :o

ladydeedy · 09/11/2011 10:11

I dont know much about low carb so cannot help you there sadly. However I have seen and read many words of encouragement on here and on the MFP site itself. Some of the success stories are awesome. I am not sure how you can stop sabotaging yourself other than really really wanting not to!! Do you have a chart visible in your kitchen showing your weight loss to date and where you want to be?

"Nothing tastes as good as slim feels"
"Good food will be here tomorrow too, you dont have to eat it all today"
"what you eat is your choice"

those work for me..... good luck!!

RGPargy · 09/11/2011 19:35

Thanx for that. I do like the "Good food will be here tomorrow too, you dont have to eat it all today" quote. I think i will deffo pinch that! Great idea about the wall chart in the kitchen too. It's very easy to forget about your weight when you're snacking on crap but if there's a chart right in front of you all of the time i suppose it could serve as a constant reminder why you are on a "diet". I think i will have to devise some form of wall chart. Do you have one that you currently use or know of a template i can pinch?

ladydeedy · 10/11/2011 10:49

hi, I dont have one but think it would be pretty easy to make using a bit of graph paper or something? Good luck!!

ohijustdontknowanymore · 11/11/2011 07:19

Friday WI for me.

1.6ibs lost, phew as no exercise week due to chest infection. So excited as now in to a different stone bracket and the lightest I have weighe for well as long as I can remember.

Good luck all :)

QueenStromba · 11/11/2011 11:59

Well done! It's a great feeling when you get into a lower stone bracket. I've lost 4.5 pounds this week although two pounds of that is weight that turned up some time last Thursday. Another 2 pounds will put me in the next stone bracket.

I've got a posh do in four weeks and have bought a dress on Ebay which probably doesn't fit me - I think I'll need to lose about an inch from my bust and waist (it's being shipped from China so it might take another few weeks to get here). I'm feeling a lot healthier now so I should be able to up my exercise and maybe start going to the gym again.

ladydeedy · 11/11/2011 15:41

good for you!! great to have something to look forward to and dress up for - a good incentive to stay on track!

ohijustdontknowanymore · 11/11/2011 21:16

QueenStromba - I know it's the little things that make a difference.

We have our works christmas party in 5 weeks so hoping to shift approx another 7ibs by then and it is the first time in years that I am excited about what I am going to wear.

Hope the dress is fab and well done on weight loss :)

magicalrealistmum · 12/11/2011 21:33

Hi all,
I have been falling off wagon due to nasty chest infection- I have been forced to take next week off work and have not been able to run/swim for the last two weeks, so feeling a bit glum...hoping that lying around all day getting bored won't lead to further downfall. I will meal plan for healthy soups and lots of drinks. I really want to keep this weight off as it was so hard get off in the first place......send me some steely determination
Good luck everyone, I wish you all lots of success x

QueenStromba · 12/11/2011 22:09

My dress came this morning and I can zip it up almost to the top. This is it, I was worried it was going to show off all my lumps and bumps but it hangs really nicely :)

ohijustdontknowanymore · 13/11/2011 20:58

Magic - Snap am currently on anti-biotics for bronchitis so have not exercised for a week and unsure if I will make ith out this week, am hoping for Tuesday but breathless just going up and down stairs.
Hope you feel better soon :)

Queen - Dress is truly gorgeous, have fun wearing it :)

Hope everyone has a good week and look forward to seeing the progress made by us all
