And need support

This was recommended by TheHumanCatapult and is www.foodfocus.co.uk. you start by registering your weight etc and tell it how much you want to lose. It then tells you when that will be achieved, which for me was some time in 2013 Shock. You then use it day by day to record all the food eaten, and all the exercise you have done. It is working for me so far (only day 5) because:

-Iget instant results (it tells you day by day how much it calculates you have lost, you won't see it on the scales)
-I see how much I am actually eating
-I'm in control. I can see the impact of whatever I am going to eat before I actually eat it which does help the willpower somewhat!
-It's FREE

:o That's fantastic!

Erm yes but I had most of last week off I think :(
Today is much better, so far only a little bar thing for breakfast and soup & roll for lunch.

Think I need to repost my reasons:

  • Health
  • Wedding outfit- I can never find anyhing nice to wear, everything is a compromise
  • Waste of too small clothes in wardrobe
  • Bobbly trousers
  • Inferiority
  • Sweat
  • Embarrassment
  • Feel a failure
  • DH

Wow some great losses :)

I am chugging slowly along, eating a lot of salad and veg. Sweet potato mash is lovely and doesn't need butter like normal mash does.

I've not logged for two or three days, I can't remember what I've eaten

I'm going on holiday in five weeks. Can I slim from a good size 18 to a svelte 12 in that time do you think? Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/08/2011 14:05

Four - I think that might be pushing it a bit... but you could certainly drop at least a dress size in that time! Hopefully it'll be so hot you could sweat the rest off Grin

SPB - don't forget running around after the kids as well - that is a biggie for me!

I know I shouldn't but I weighed myself again this morning and I have lost 9lb now altogether ShockGrin That is keeping me on track!
We had lunch at Morrison's cafe and they put the calories on all the meals which was helpful in picking something that was lower in calories than other options. I had beef lasagne and garlic bread which was 700 cals, if I'd gone for sausage and mash would have been 1000!!!
It was very nice and I just had something very light for tea. Whereas before I probably would have had something more substantial.

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 02/08/2011 14:24

I'm so cross with myself! I tried on a pair of jeans this morning that last week I couldn't fasten and decided I was going to wear them out on saturday night if I lost a few more lbs this week, was feeling quite pleased with myself.

Anyway that was this morning, this afternoon I have sat and eaten a huge bar of chocolate. Does anyone one else self sabotage in this way or is it just me?!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/08/2011 21:47

If you suddenly have the urge to eat then read this thread

Believe me it will kill your appetite

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 02/08/2011 22:36

Kara that is vile but thank you as I'm pretty sure I won't be eating much for a few days Grin Certainly won't be enjoying a mackerel and tomato sandwich in my garden for lunch that's for sure!

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2011 23:15

I actually read that while eating a plate of (firm and slightly squishy) pasta. Think there is something wrong with me :o

Well I have lost another 4lb since last Monday :o Admittedly on the slightly dodgy scales. Not bad considering I had a run of bad days last week.

wow - at this rate (which i know is unlikely to continue even if I am "good") I could be 12st something by the beginning of October. Right, that;s my target.
I can't actually imagine being in a posiion of only having a couple of stone to lose to reach my target weight!

Another one sliding in through the door. Two weeks til I go on holiday so would like to get a grip on my eating now.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/08/2011 14:42

Welcome on board!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 04/08/2011 15:55

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of that website. I have just joined too - it looks great.

I have lost 2 stone with SW - but have stuck at the same weight for the last three months. Think the problem with eating unlimited "free" foods is that I am eating so much fruit and veg I may not be getting enough calories or a balanced diet so I think this might really help me to see what I am eating. I have also been doing lots of exercise so its good to see what that equates to in food.

I want to lose about 20lbs - and would like to get half way there by my holiday in 7 weeks time. Wish me luck.

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2011 21:07

good luck!

bad day today but willl make up for it tomorrow

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/08/2011 21:10

Benn having wobbles - mainly intense cravings for carbs!
Had 2 granary rolls today and 2 yesterday I shouldn't have but I really really wanted them.
Oh dear God there are 2 left...
I should just eat them and treat tomorrow as a new day...

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 04/08/2011 21:15

Thanks Stealth!

KST - Could you bear to do the Paul McKenna thing and throw them in the bin and cover them with something like washing up liquid? or just freeze them for another time?

Silly question - Am I meant to eat the extra calories from todays exercise? I have about 500!!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/08/2011 21:48

I should have done.. but I didn't.

But tomorrow is another day....

TarquinGyrfalcon · 04/08/2011 22:07

Can I join in.

I had the moment of realisation in a mirrored lift last week. I couldn't believe that the red-faced dumpy woman I could see refelted all around me was me Sad

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2011 22:25

:( Tarquin, been there...welcome

marking a spot to look at this food focus thing tomorrow when i can focus....so tired right now!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 04/08/2011 22:33

Thanks

I do feel that I am ready to lose weight - having spent the last few years moaning about being overweightwhilst continuing to overeat.
I gave up smoking last year and that was another excuse to overeat.

The only trouble is I've been doing foodfocus for a week now and I feel as if I am obsessed by food - all I can think about is what I am going to eat next. I'm hoping this will stop!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 05/08/2011 21:32

I decided I needed to give myself a break from food logging.
Fresh start tomorrow!

StealthPolarBear · 05/08/2011 22:30

good plan
well after a crap day at work where I had one apple and one cup of coffee, I came home and had a take away Blush. Not too bad, not under my target cals but still losing a tiny bit of weight

OP posts:
TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 06/08/2011 12:48

I am finding the calorie counting really interesting - had a couple of days where I feel like I have been "over-indulging" from a SW perspective - not completely off plan but - but more than I would normally eat if I am "being good" and I am only just eating my 1300 cals - so it may be that by bulking up on the fruit and veg I was not eating enough..... lets hope I see a result on the scales next week.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.....

KaraStarbuckThrace · 06/08/2011 14:22

Well I am defecting.. to My Fitness Pal

It is the same principal, works out calories burnt (though it worked out a little less for me but think it is based on my current weight) and how much you should eat, but the food database is far more accurate, it has mobile phone apps and works in Chrome!
Just finding the food focus food database is so inaccurate it is a bit of a random number generator. For example, I had a Boots sandwich which was 370 cals according to the packaging, only FF website said it was 668cals!! Keep finding a lot of foods like this cals much higher or lower, far more than the 20% tolerance mentioned earlier!

There are a few other useful features as well!

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2011 21:23

Shock Kara

Good luck :o
