Hi folks, have just got back to this thread.
Got weighed at WW on Monday - another half pound off so that is a total of 15 pounds. [fcheer]
don't run Yes, you can eat fruit as much as you want.
I tend not to go over the 26 points normally, usually about 21-23 points per day and I don't use the 49 weekly points or the extra activity points I earn.
I might drift upwards towards 29 points over Christmas though to give myself a bit of a change of food habits. Otherwise I'll be bored with the same meals over and over. I don't do recipes as I am not keen on cooking really. Also the WW stuff in the supermarkets is 8-9 points for a little cottage pie. That's a bit too many points for one meal. What do you eat the rest of the day? So I tend to keep away from them. Xmas Smile

Littlefish · 21/12/2011 23:13

Sorry to disagree, but although fruit is zero pointed, you still need to watch your intake as it is high in sugar and therefore, calories. If you snack on fruit all day, you won't lose weight. I think the suggestion is something like 3 or 4 pieces of fruit per day, not more, and to only eat until you are satisfied.

changeforthebetter · 22/12/2011 09:13

Stayed the same this week, which is great considering the huge amounts of Xmas-y type food and odd glass or seven of wine consumed at parties. I suppose the difference is that in between bits of eating lots, I am still basically eating really healthily, lots of veg soup, not too much bread, not finishing the kids' food etc. I do think the free points for fruit is great as fruit is so good for your health and protecting you from all the germs. Yes, it does have sugar and no, you can't eat 12 bananas but I think it is so much better than snacking on anything else. Ideally, you would be having crudites but really, a clementine is nicer and is going to be better than a Quality Street. I will be happy with either staying the same or only a couple of pounds max up. I really want this to be a lifestyle change. One thing I am not doing is drinking booze every night. When I was with X, that was the norm and it was so unhealthy. I am sticking to my usual weekends and parties only.

Good luck to everyone Xmas Smile

SantasHat · 22/12/2011 10:03

littlefish Yes, of course you are right about fruit. Stands to sense it is high in sugar. Xmas Wink I do tend to use a banana as a quick fix when I feel my blood sugar is low. Also a few grapes are handy in my pocket when I am out walking.

Littlefish · 22/12/2011 10:13

Bananas are an absolute godsend, aren't they!

I only mentioned the fruit because there is someone in my class who was complaining that they weren't losing weight. When we talked about it, it turned out they were eating about 10 portions of fruit every day!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/12/2011 23:44

Come to say hello again after being AWOL for ages. Fell off the wagon really badly and put in well over a stone at last weigh in, which was a few weeks ago, don't dare stand on scales at the moment.

Our house is now finally free of workmen and I need to get back on WW. I shall weigh after Christmas but will try to get a bit more back on track before then or will pile yet more on.

Has anyone tried this Healthy and Filling thing ?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/12/2011 23:49

Have just scrolled down a bit and wow Littlefish, well done you ! Come and give me a hefty kick up my expanding again arse and waft some of your motivation my way please.

SantasHat · 23/12/2011 11:38

Wynken Yes I tried the Healthy and Filling thing but only lasted a day on it.
It is more or less all protein stuff and I find the breakfast difficult to get round. Eggs are ok once in a while but I am not a great fan of lean ham and protein for breakfast. I like my fruit and fibre too much so it did not suit me but you might like it.

changeforthebetter · 24/12/2011 09:21

Of course Littlefish is the one who actually got to her goal (unlike me who is going very, very, very slowly Xmas Blush - so her words are probably worth heeding Xmas Grin

I am struggling this week. I gave in to some lovely Rioja with dinner last night. Did enjoy it but 9 extra points. Plus some cakes while out. I have no energy as the kids are waking ultra early. No energy + being at home = comfort eating big time Hmm.

I have set myself a 32 point daily limit which according to the website - is maintenance. Down to 26 on 2 January though.

Good luck to everyone Xmas Smile

WorkingClassMum · 24/12/2011 09:22

Can I join in here, ummmm next year?

Littlefish · 24/12/2011 10:54

Changeforthebetter I went too soon with my Christmas goal! I got there 2 weeks early and have put on half a pound since then. Grin.

Going slowly is definitely the way forward. We just have to keep going and we will all get there!

Setting a daily limit is a good plan. Good luck!

androbbob · 24/12/2011 21:39

Merry Christmas everyone!

Went for a WI today at another class and I have lost another 1 lb - making 6 in total - only another 42 to go!!

I am planning on maintaining between now and 4th January - I have the choice of going to a class on Wednesday or next Saturday, so will go by my home scales. I usually WI on a Wednesday, but it is shut for two weeks, hence going today. DH is back in work on Boxing Day so back to normal for our house really, which is good for food eating and we can get out for a walk on Boxing Day! Xmas Grin

changeforthebetter · 26/12/2011 17:42

Yes, it was a noble idea..... had the daily limit for the past three days been about 60 PP Xmas GrinXmas Blush. Oh well, back to normal(ish) Wednesday.

wizzler · 27/12/2011 18:41

Littlefish.. congratulations.. That is an absolutely inspirational achievement.... Fantastic to get to goal just before crimbo too.

Rezolution · 29/12/2011 17:42

Just name-changed for New Year (old SantasHat)
Got new scales today as the old ones were so old they weighed about a whole stone under true weight.
Well, the new scales gave me a nasty shock!
At WW on 19th Dec I was 12st1lb.
Today on new scales I am 12st.6lbs Xmas Sad And I have tried so hard all over Xmas. No treats, no chocs, not even a glass of wine! Boo hoo.
Have walked at least one hour every day. Where did it all go wrong?

Rezolution · 29/12/2011 19:39

Add-on to previous post. Just got weighed again and the scales is now saying 11st 2lbs! Either the new scales are duff or WW has got a serious scales issue.

androbbob · 29/12/2011 20:26

So Rez - answer is not to WI at home and only go by the WW scales! Grin Ok, I know how easy it is to step on own scale to see how you are doing, but you need to have faith in the WW plan and your commitment to it, so put the scales away! it is so easy to go by your own - oh I am doing well and then have a little treat, or if not doing so well, then cut back too much, then go for the weekly WI and either be dissapointed or happy. It is worth remembering the bigger picture and go by month to month differences and to remember that your body doesnt know which day is your WI day! Chin up and keep going!

Been ok myself over the last few days - trying to cut down on carbs as they bloat me up. Was going the the WI on sat but have decided to leave it until my usual Weds class and see what that brings. Not helped by the gym being shut for 11 days - eek!

Rezolution · 30/12/2011 10:16

androbbob
Yes, you are right about not weighing in at home, I'm sure.
Anyway, I think I have probably maintained over Christmas and we don't weigh in until Tuesday 3rd January so I have got a few days to go yet.
Doesn't help that the baths where I swim is closed until after New Year for maintenance. Will try to get to another baths this afternoon to make up for lost time.

SparkySparrow · 30/12/2011 22:14

Hi,
I'm new to Weightwatcher's. Im starting officially on Monday, but have been reading up to be prepared. Could someone please explain the weekly allowance to me? Is it extra on top of you daily allowance? Do you have to use them up or is it better not to?

Rezolution · 30/12/2011 22:20

Sparky Hi and welcome.
The extra weekly points are for special days when you eat more than your 26 points. These 49 extra ones are in reserve and get used up as a kind of back up but it is better and faster for your weight loss if you don't use them naturally. Xmas Smile

SparkySparrow · 30/12/2011 22:31

Thats what I thought, but just wanted to check for sure.
Thankyou :)

crumbletastic · 01/01/2012 00:43

Welcome sparky When you get your head around the propoints system then experiment a bit with the weeklies, as I always find I lose more when eating half or more of my extra points. I know plenty of people who use their exact 49 every week as 7 extra points a day and still lose fabulously. You will find your own balance in time. Happy losing!

Littlefish · 03/01/2012 21:35
Willabywallaby · 04/01/2012 18:22

Not been around for a while, weigh in tonight after at least nothing for a month, I'm expecting a half a stone gain Blush

MrsAlexanderSkarsgard · 04/01/2012 18:51

I am joinging WW tomorrow night - it's got to be done, I am whale. I have been offered a seat on the bus twice now in the last 2 months Blush
Onwards and upwards . . .
