Hi all!

Hope the title is ok - if not, someone else can do another one Grin

Mousey84 · 20/07/2011 19:12

Are you all on SW? I joined a RL group last week and first proper weigh in tomorrow. Can I join here too, or is this just for ones who dont go to a group? Feel I need a little extra accountability. I know the first week is usually the highest, but if you ladies are getting 3lbs off a week after that, I want in on your secrets Grin

C4ro · 20/07/2011 20:03

My 3lb was over at least 2 weeks as I was away and couldn't weigh in, it's probably more like 1lb/ week.
mousey don't be afraid, there are weeks with some plateaus/ small gains in the list
bee your DH's car incident must have been a shock, let alone the hassle to sort it all out. Hope you can get it all fixed up quickly. Many thanks for the scan bran cake recipe, I have closed my eyes and imagined hard to get a slight impression of what it would be like in reality, that is as far as I feel brave enough to take it.

Mousey84 · 20/07/2011 20:32

So you were away and you still managed to lose weight? Is there a sticker for that? ;)

OK, well, my weight as of two weeks ago today (when i half heartedly started SW at home) was 12 st 13.5, 12st 8 last wed and as of this morning is 12 st 2.5. So 11lbs total. I signed up to the 12 week countdown and target is 10st 8. (11 in SW, but their scales weigh heavier, plus I weigh in the morning, SW class is at night. plus im clothed and wearing shoes for class)

For purposes of this thread, Im using my own scales for weighing tho.

Im going straight for the gold level body magic, since my 45 min daily (well, at least 6 days a week!) treadmill workout covers that, and Ive started swimming 1/2 hr once a week while dd has her lesson. And Ill finally open a few exercise dvds. 30 day shred nearly killed me 6 months ago, so ill build up to that with something else. Quite fancy giving zumba a try.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/07/2011 20:44

God I am shattered. Haven't even got around to dinner yet!
Hi mousey don't worry I gained last week Smile and I am on my hols next week so bound for a gain then. Well sone on your WL - 11lbs is fab! I do zumba and its fab.

Barfing at the thought of scan bran cake.

bee your poor DH hope he is OK. How shocking, hope it gets sorted quick.
Thanks for the sticker hedge
c4ro I thought putting 3lbs looked better Grin

Who wants to do the list next week? I'm on hols but will gladly take it back after that!

Mousey84 · 20/07/2011 20:54

Doesnt it depend on your hols?

Two years ago I lost 10lb on a week long beach holiday by bingeing in the all you can eat breakfast buffet - pre prepared fresh fruit - and then swimming all day. Too bad I quit smoking and put on 2 stone afterwards :(

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/07/2011 20:58

Ha that's true, I lost weight skiing despite the après ski!
this is a villa in spain. Think wine and bread and cheese. But swimming and sorting out DD will help!

kid · 20/07/2011 21:42

I'm off on an all inclusive holiday next month. Seeing as we have paid for the food and drink, it would be crazy not to make the most of it!

I'm going to check if they have a gym there (I think they do) and I'll take my gym kit with me so I can try and burn off some food. I am also going to do some swimming every day but I know I will gain something!

When I WI today, I was really pleased with the result as I was totally expecting a gain. Its nothing short of a miracle that I lost anything let alone 3lb.
Its funny though as that 3lb was a very big milestone for me as its taken me into the next stone. I am embarassed of my starting weight but at least I know I have done something positive about it. I just can't believe I continued to put on weight for so long.

I want to buy some new scales, ones that can weigh me properly rather than make me have to work out the weight thanks to their stupid decimal point.

I made lasagne tonight, but I used a packet of cheddar sauce mix. Everything else was syn free so I guessed the syns for that couldn't be that high. I even used the cheese as my HEa.

This is a very long post Grin

timidviper · 20/07/2011 23:44

I went to my RL group today and have lost 4lbs! That's a total of 16lb in 3 weeks! Grin

Having said that I've been really good so far and haven't really had any temptation but I'm away this weekend so next week will not be as good.

I made the Leek and Pea pasta from the magazine tonight and it was ok but not stunning.

LakeFlyPie · 20/07/2011 23:48

Evening, sorry I failed to check into DOD until now.

The stats board looks very impressive all of you 3lb offers Grin

I'll sit at the bottom with a measly maintain although at least I haven't put any on.
Considering the amount of bread and lack of fruit and veg over weekend away I should be happy to have kept off the weight I've lost so far.

Am very impressed at your 3lbs off despite your weekend away cheese , congratulations on the stone loss Smile

bee hope you DH is OK and you aren't stuck without a car, if you are in the NW of England please let me know if I can help out at all.

Welcome to newbies, mousey 11lbs in 2 weeks is amazing

Will check in after shopping tomorrow for some meal planning.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/07/2011 08:03

Maintaining is good lake! Better than a gain for sure.

Yeh, I am unsure how that 3lb came off as, to be honest, I have had a bad week or two. Maybe it is the exercise?
Missing legs, bums and tums as stuck in waiting for DD passport to arrive. I might leave DH here tonight and go up to the gym, will see how I feel.

Food:
B: fruit and yog
L: omelette and salad
D: Ham and artichoke pasta

timid well done on WL, am jealous 16lb in 3 weeks...I have done a stone in maybe 8 weeks or so.
kid the trick to all inclusives is going for the fresh stuff. in the morning, get an omelette made and then in the evening hopefully there will be fresh grilled meat or fish or summat. My mum has just come back from all inclusive for 2 weeks and only gained 0.5lbs due to the amounts of wine she guzzles
bee hows things?

Any volunteers for next weeks DoD?

grinningbee · 21/07/2011 08:08

Good morning everyone!

Cheese and Lake bless your hearts for offering to get me if you were near enough Grin that was lovely, thank you.

I don't mind looking after the list next week if you like Cheese I promise not to break it in your abscence!

Sorry for venting yesterday. Dh is indeed fine, but it was totally his fault. He was seen on the wrong side of the road just before he came off. I'm just thankful that the dc weren't in the car, and that he is ok. The car is ok, won't look the same again, but never mind.

Hello and welcome to Mouse.

Now then. You think that scan bran cake recipe is revolting? Just wait - I have also discovered a black forest version, a banana cake version and many many more. Mwahahahahahaha!! (Holds little finger to mouth Dr Evil style).

Back to Tigger like bouncing today - I got my Club 10, and went under 200lb this week and am very pleased. I said to dh that I will not be going back up to that, unless I get pg (and will still try not to even then). I am giving myself two more weigh ins to get down into the next stone too.

Food for the day will be:

Weetabix and a nectarine
Cheese triangles on toast and an apple
Quorn bolognese with broccoli
Yogurt and more fruit for snacks

I bought some strawberries, blueberries and cherries yesterday and am going to give that roulade a go.

Good morning all

I'm having a nice relaxing morning for a change. Dropped DC off at school, came home and hoovered the whole house and have sat down with a pint of water and the laptop. Will have to get moving for work in the next 1/2 hour, hopefully it won't rain on my way in. Actually, I think I'll take the car just incase!

I have a very sweet tooth so it will be hard to stay in control while on holiday, but I'll do my best. Maybe I'll treat myself to sickly sweet cake once every few days rather than at every single meal.

We weren't up the hospital for long last night, probably about 10 minutes which is great seeing as we didn't even have an appointment!
They examined DS and are happy for him not to wear the splint. He must be careful though and definitely isn't allowed to play football or any other contact sports as the risk of further damage is still there. I've told him so many times but its got to be down to him now. My new attitude is, if he doesn't listen and ends up hitting it on something, its going to hurt him a lot more than its going to hurt me! Evil mum that I am Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/07/2011 10:57

And the winner is.... bonzo. Sorry you weigh in later, I will hold off this list from now on till I hear from you!

Pixiestix has gained 1lb this week Start weight 12 st 12, Target weight 8 st 13, Current weight 10 st 5.5 total loss so far 2 st 6.5

Kid glad your DS is out of his splint. Boys will be boys so I imagine he will struggle with the lack of sport. You are not an evil mum - I'd do the same Grin

bee that weight loss must be a milestone for you - fab! Glad DH is alright. I too have seen those revolting recipes. They sound like they should be in a Roald Dahl book.

DD is poorly again with another cough and cold. THink a touch of croup too. Had a long night and she has grizzled all morning, poor thing. She is finally napping so I should get back to packing. or lurking on MN

Thanks bee for taking the list next week, star emoticon.

BonzoDooDah · 21/07/2011 11:00

Fab weight losses ladies!
Too true kid - at some point he's got to take responsibility for his own body!

grinningbee OMG at the car! After all the arguments about it too! Just glad your DH is not hurt!

Well I had my DoD at SW last night and had lost 3.5lb! So total of 19.5 lb in about 12 weeks. Absolutely sure the exercise helped.

I'm rather narked though as at the class they have a raffle (with a prize brought in by the instructor) and "slimmer of the week" where everyone brings in something low syn and there was a HUGE mound. So she went round the class and someone had lost 6.5 lb but gained last week and I was the one lost the most so was eyeing the bag greedily ... She got to the end and had forgotten the raffle and SOTW so we prompted her. She looked at her computer pad ... said X has won SOTW but she didn't stay (and presumably hadn't donated to the pile either) Hmm so instead of (as is usual practice) giving it to the next person who had actually stayed me me me me she said - I'll make this one of the raffle prizes. AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry
I was WELL narked!

Hedgepig · 21/07/2011 12:15

BONZO how pants grrrrrrr we know you should have won it.

I am still feeling absolutely dreadful (Ive had this cold for a while week now), I even had a small cake this morning to cheer me up and I haven't done that since March

grinningbee · 21/07/2011 12:24

Oh Bonzo that's rotten. I don't miss the classes, with the raffle of tins of tomatoes, dodgy bath cubes, plastic flowers etc, or the SOTW basket of fruit that'll go off as you walk out of the door (or was that just my lot???).

Fantastic losses this week everyone. I reckon the exercise really must be helping you guys, and as I'm not doing any I need to start! Anyone think I can guilt dh into a 2nd hand wii for the car damage Wink? I wouldn't, but it's a thought Grin.

Need to get my bum into gear. Lunch time beckons for the dc, and I have the bolognese to make for later and go out and buy a present for some friends who had a baby boy yesterday. 8lb 10 and 2 weeks early! Shock And can someone please tell me why, with a 2 year old and an 8 month old and a toy strewn house and being sleep deprived I am still broody!?!

OP posts:
grinningbee · 21/07/2011 12:27

Hedgepig That's 4 months of no cake though. That takes a superhuman effort! And you're doing so well Envy

Hope you feel better soon Smile

Ok. Really am going now.

OP posts:
BonzoDooDah · 21/07/2011 13:10

No the 'minging fruit basket' at my class is rice, passata, super noodles, tins of black-eyed beans, tins of tuna, kidney beans, spaghetti hoops etc etc ... well worth having!

And the raffle is usually really good - teacher gets all the stuff for a SW recipe - this week the chick pea dahl loaf plus some food tubs and fruit ... so definitely worth it. The class is in a more middle class area and is large enough that the raffle has a decent enough pot to go towards the prize.

Still very narked. (can you tell?)

BonzoDooDah · 21/07/2011 13:11

Oh and No idea at all on the broodyness! go and sniff a dirty nappy or somethig to shock yourself out of that one! (And chubby little newborn! Mine was on time and 10lb 6oz!! - we called him Sumo-piglet for a while!)

kid · 21/07/2011 16:29

Bee broody and you have an 8 month old? You must be so sleep deprieved you aren't thinking straight. I have a 9 year old and am still not broody. I do love babies but the thought of actually going through it all again just doesn't appeal to me a great deal!

I have been doing well all day, but then we had our end of term class party and there were these 4 lonely chocolate chip muffins. There weren't enough to go round all the children so I thought it would be best if I helped eat them. I only had 1 so wasn't that bad. It didn't even taste that nice which was really disappointing.

I put a bacon joint in the slow cooker this morning so thats almost done. Just need to do some mash and then I'm off to the gym for my bootcamp class. I know its going to be painful but I must make myself go anyway.
Last day at work tomorrow and then its 6 glorious weeks off, can't wait!

Riasdragonflytattoo · 21/07/2011 18:23

I still get broody with a 14 yo, 7 yo and 4 yo, and I seem to have moved into a pigsty/jumble sale/war zone. You would think I would know better!

caught sight of my reflection today and am SadBlush. Have been out and bought lots of fruit and yogurts (or holiday breakfasts) and packed a box of low-syn stuff to take on holiday. Am making a chicken pasta bake tomorrow for our first meal away.

I will WI again tomorrow (for a fresh start), then it will be a week on Sunday (when we get back), and will work round to Weds, so I can join in with DOD. My friend has asked me to go to group with her, but after last time I don't fancy it really. Will see how I go.

Am up for Cto5k when I get back from holiday Smile

kid · 21/07/2011 19:23

I'd like to give the cto5k a go as well. When I looked at the iPhone apps, there were a few to chose from and I didn't know which one to get so didn't get any!

grinningbee · 22/07/2011 07:34

Kid the muffin thing made me smile. It's awful when there's a lonely neglected cake or biscuit... Wink

Ria Hats off to you with having a teenager and a 4 year old and one in between! And you still feel broody??? I am rapidly approaching 41 so I don't know if the old bod is just sending out last chance vibes of broodiness. Maybe that's what it is.

Sounds like a plan taking all those healthy goodies on holiday, and I know your reflection won't be as bad as you imagine .

Is everyone going on holiday? Envy seems like it, but hope you enjoy them Smile

Dd is full of cold and coughing like a good 'un, ds also has a snotty beak and is coughing so today is looking like fun. She also refuses to take any Calpol etc, so I have the joy of either pinning her down and getting covered in it or doing without. However, she is eating a ham sandwich for breakfast (she was rather insistent of having one as I made one for dh to take to work) so at least the appetite is still there.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a nectarine
Either a ham sandwich, or cheese triangles on toast and an apple
Beef curry with broccoli
Fruit and yogurt for snacks

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/07/2011 08:12

Morning all

I have one DD who is coming up to 5months. And I am already missing the newborn baby thing! Which is weird as I am not normally the overly maternal type. Def not getting pregnant for another year or so, I want to get slim and enjoy it!

Bee sorry to hear DD is poorly, mine is too! Miserable. However she adores calpol! Can you sneak it in her food?

Food for the day:
B: Melon, branflakes and FF yog
L: COuscous salad
D: Stuffed Roast pork from last months mag, courgette and new pots.
Exercise: 2 mile walk

Off on hol tomorrow, woohoo. Not in the least bit organised but DD passport came yesterday. Phew!

pixiestix · 22/07/2011 09:58

Grrr, the only one who gained on DoD - I knew I should have waited until next week to weigh in! Wink

I get pangs of broodiness too - DD is 9 mo - but at the moment the desire to get down to a "normal" weight is stronger Blush Its taken me about ten years to get into a head-space where I can sort out my weight and I don't want to ruin all my hard work. But then, I am 29 this year so hopefully [crosses fingers] I will be able to have another AND get thin, without having to choose Grin

Another calpol-adorer here Cheese! Bongela too - she sits there smacking her lips and holding out her hand for more. Weird child.
