I am a big fat failure this weekend Sad

What on earth is cto5k?! Sounds very cryptic

acsec · 17/07/2011 21:27

it's couch to 5k running club

kid · 17/07/2011 22:21

Fresh start on Monday cheese, just scrap today and for damage limitation for dod.

My scales are up the wall, I might actually through them out the window Angry
I had a sneaky WI the other day and it was showing a loss of 5lb which I thought was unlikely but stupidly believed the scales. I know I shouldn't, but I checked today and it's not showing the 5lb loss anymore. I'm gutted even though I don't deserve a big loss like that!

Trying to plan tomorrows lunch but am feeling lazy. There are a few recipes in thus weeks mag that I'd like to try.

BonzoDooDah · 18/07/2011 08:18

I started the C2 5k - then caught tonsilitis so had to stop [not related to eachother]. It is a really, really good program. Like running with a personal trainer. You can concentrate on keeping breathing your pace etc rather than on your watch as they tell you when to start and stop running and play appropriate speed music.

I'll start again if you do and we can compare notes...

Otherwise - had only eaten 3 syns by bedtime last night so had some chocolate just for the hell of it! Delicious!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 08:24

Morning all. TOday is reset day. We fly to Spain on Sat so I should be able to stay on track till then.

Thanks for clarifying the couch to 5 k thing, sounds good. I can't run due to shin splints and love my gym classes so will stick to that.

Food:
B: Weetabix (heb)
L: Tuna and pasta salad
D: Chicken and prawn stirfry
Today is waterbabies which doesn't really count as exercise :(
Oh, and starting our holiday list...I cannot explain how much I love lists.

kid · 18/07/2011 08:32

Lunch is all sorted for today (chicken, pepper and onion fried in frylight and a splash of sweet chilli sauce mixed with couscous. Problem is, I gave to go to work after hospital appt so might not even get a lunch break Sad

My belt is on the 5th hole now, it was only on the 2nd when I started SW and my jeans are very loose. Think it's about time I bought some new ones the next size down. I'm not ready to part with these ones yet as they are very comfy Grin

Need to get moving as we have to get bus to hospital today, stupid controlled parking zones always get in the way!

grinningbee · 18/07/2011 09:16

Kid Sad re the naughty teasing scales. I'm hoping that mine stay the same as they were this morning. It won't be a huge loss, but mentally it will be massive (fingers crossed!). Good luck at the hospital today, and hope you have time for lunch.

Strawberry Welcome to the gang Grin

Cheese How many cream teas was it then??? Hope they were nice. You must be really looking forward to your holiday, especially as today is so dank and gloomy.

My trousers are falling down, and my tops are starting to look too big. Yay! And I know what you mean about not wanting to part with comfy trousers Kid. Trouble is my jeans are bordering on indecent now as they are so loose around the waist they just hang away from me showing my bridget jones armour undies.

Right then. Food for today:

Weetabix
Beans on toast
Shepherd's Lentil Pie
Fruit and yogurt for snacks

Got cleaning etc to do today. Health visitor lady is coming tomorrow to do an 8 month check on ds (who isn't 8 months yet) and I'd like her to be able to sit down without moving a pile of toys first!

LakeFlyPie · 18/07/2011 09:51

Back from a lovely weekend with Dsis and family, unfortunately eating was as far from SW as possibly imaginable.
Made me realise how much fruit and veg we eat usually.

Need to get my head in damage limitation mode (good way to view it kid, BTW 3 belt loops is fantastic)

Food today:
BF: All bran + banana, toast + jam
L: Cous cous + ratatouille
D: Either chilli +JP or roast chicken, JP + salad

Need to shop and get fruit and FF yogurts and will try and Shred if DS2 gets a kip in at an appropriate time.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 11:46

The cupboards are bare, will struggle to make a decent salad to fill me up. It also don't have tuna, its crab. So lunch will be some form of chilli crab pasta, will let you know how it goes! Looking forward to online food shop delivery later.

bee one cream tea, minus the cream. One beef roast dinner with yorkshire pud. One fry up (with sausages from the farm that I couldn't resist). Litres of gin. Big fat fail. Hope HV visit goes well. So lake I know how you feel. Hwever, I had a fabulous time and feel quite relaxed today.

kid I have also dropped a dress size - 16/18 now 14/16. Quite plesaed about it.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 12:21

Gosh crab pasta was yum....For the sauce I fried garlic and red chilli in fry light. Added the crab and some parsley. Heated through then added cooked pasta, lemon juice and tablespoon of fromage frais. (fat free of course)..tasty and so easy!

Riasdragonflytattoo · 18/07/2011 13:46

Shock at quorn sausages. are any quorn products syn-free anymore?

pasta salad takes a very long time to eat.

grinningbee · 18/07/2011 14:06

Do you know, I'd just typed out all the sausage values and MN went offline. Aaaarrrggghhh!

Anyway, the worst are bbq sizzlers at 2 syns each, the best are the frozen "tastier" ones at 1/2 a syn each, and the rest seem to be 1 syn each. As for the mince and other stuff, I need to have a look online.

That pasta sounds lovely Cheese. I do wish dh wasn't allergic to fish Sad

wildstrawberryplace · 18/07/2011 16:02

Hello.

Weighed in at home this morning and had lost 3lb after my week of not totally getting into the swing of it...hope for more of the same next week.

Going to get weighed and start "officially" this evening.

I'd be well up for a C25K starters club if anyone else on the thread is. Have done it before and it really works.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 16:31

Hullo strawberry well done you! 3lb is fab, I am a bit jealous!

Rubbish about the fish allergy bee

I have just realised that it is my turn to have antenatal group over for coffee and cake on Weds...I had better bake something and try not to taste it

grinningbee · 18/07/2011 16:38

You could always go for the evil healthy option Cheese and make them a scan bran cake Grin

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 17:15

Mwah ha ha..fab idea. Most of the others are skinny minnies, maybe I can get revenge!

You are eviill!

BonzoDooDah · 18/07/2011 17:22

That pasta sounds delicious! Must get some crab. Did you use a tin?

For antenatal group try the Half-a-syn Roulade? Hubby made it last night and it is DELICIOUS and only 1/2 syn for the WHOLE blinking thing!!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 17:28

Oh whats that recipe bonzo

Yep tinned crab! It was yummy.

Hedgepig · 18/07/2011 18:10

Cheese you could also do a fruitplatter as well as offering cake, slices of watermelon, strawberry, mango grapes etc then you can scoff the fruit while the skinny ones scoff cake and everyone is happy. I find the main problem with these things is when there isn't an alternative to cake.

Ria the Quorn (frozen) Swedish meatballs are still free and more tastey than the sausages imho.

Strawb well done on the -3lb, I'm thinking about the couch to 5K but not sure taking up running at 45 is such a fab idea.

I'm still feeling rough, I came home from work after a hour and had a nice 3hr sleep. I have been eating biscuits Sad cos that's all I fancy

kid · 18/07/2011 18:23

Well I've gone and done a really silly thing. I had some bread on the verge of going off (no green bits though!) so rather than throw it away, I made bread pudding. Its so tasty I literally can't resist and its going to be a disaster on DoD. Each time I take a piece, I make sure I take the smallest slice or I cut a slice in half. Really, I need to avoid it altogether but it goes so well with a cup of tea after an annoying day at work. It also tastes great after hoovering the whole house.

I jogged briefly on the way home from work tonight, It nearly killed me Grin

DS had his cast removed today. They did want to keep it on for 2 more weeks but he was close to tears so they decided to remove it and do an x-ray. They were pleased with the healing so decided a splint would work for the next 2 weeks but said he needs to be careful. Ermm, they do not understand my son does not do careful. So I guess its either going to mean me on edge for 2 weeks or another trip to a&e for a cast to be fitted. I have the plasterers number just incase I decide a cast is needed.

I don't want to do dinner tonight. I'm making DH and DC chicken korma, no idea what I'll have. I don't even feel hungry, probably something to do with bread pudding lol

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/07/2011 19:45

Can you give it away kid? Might save you eating it? Glad your DS is out of cast, a splint should be fine as long as he doesn't bang it

Hedge yep I was going to do a fruit platter.Or at least just wash some strawberries and grapes!

Waiting for DH to come home from work. I am starving!

Hedgepig · 18/07/2011 20:33

Kid chop it into bits and freeze it, then you'll never be bothered to un-freeze it but you're not wasting it Grin. I hope DS can be careful with his arm for the next few weeks

SlinkyB · 18/07/2011 21:00

Hello all

It was my DoD today and have lost 2 1/4 pounds this week :-) Was naughty and weighed yesterday and had lost 3lbs, but that was probably because I had a bout of s&d on Saturday night so was a false reading (why do the scales always shout to you when you've been ill?! You know it's going to give you a nice reading, but 24hrs later it'll all be back on).

Have been doing the 30 Day Shred, am on day 6 and am still enjoying it (miracle). Also started Zumba last week which was a giggle and must have helped.

Thanks for the recipes, the crab pasta does sound yummy and might try it this week (must get more adventurous in the kitchen).

kid I am actually really glad I've never learnt to bake, am sure I'd be at least another 2st heavier if I could Blush
Strawb Well done on the weight loss -that's brilliant.

Hope everyone is keeping happy and motivated and looking forward to the Big DoD on Wednesday ! Wink

LakeFlyPie · 18/07/2011 21:44

Well done on lost lbs Slinky and Strawb

Thanks for crabby pasta idea Cheese, sounds delicious.
Would that be free on EE? Haven't got my head around the EE thing yet.

Better day here eating wise and have got some massive strawberries and juicy nectarines and peaches to stave off any hunger this evening, I love the seasonal fruit at this time of year.

Bonzo what's half syn roulade?
In my mind "Roulade" conjures visions of my Mum's chocolatey / brandy / creamy 1970's dinner party pudding - am guessing it isn't quite that, but am intrigued by all low syn cake replacements.

BonzoDooDah · 19/07/2011 09:23

Well done Slinky - that's a great loss!

Roulade is like a posh Swiss roll (I think usually filled with whipped cream) - this one is a baked sponge filled with sweetened Quark and fresh fruit...

Half a syn Roulade - that's half a syn for the WHOLE thing. As this woman says you can add an options sachet or cocoa powder to make it chocolate flavour - which I think would be divine. I'm surprised ours lasted two nights!

That crab pasta would be free on EE except for any oil you used. Dried pasta is free as is any meat. Is definitely on my list of things to make!

Oh hope DS's arm stays bash-free ... nerves for two weeks!
