Whilst shopping with my super slim friend over the weekend I realised just how fat I feel - and getting on the scales provided proof. I've put on 2 stone - 1 stone of which has come on very recently ( think a month or two?!).
Other than looking lumpy and increasingly featureless, my legs are achy and I don't feel like I've woken up properly ever.
So, I'm going to start on the diet today. The plan is to eat lots of veg and fruits, lean meats, and limited carbs. I'm going to have 3 decent sized meals a day, and not snack unless I'm truely hungry.

I'm going to weigh myself and post on here every Tuesday. Anyone who wants to join in please do!

Starting weight; 11st 13.
(Target weight 10st so 1st 13lbs to lose)

Hi, you could be describing me with the not feeling that I have woken up ever!
I have struggled to lose the weight since having DS2 2.4. I am obese BMI 31 and feel rubbish about it but seem to not be getting anywhere with it!

I will join you Owlets.

Starting Weight; 13st 9 (yikes!)
Target Weight 11st (2 st 9 to lose)

wfrances · 31/05/2011 13:47

oh think ill join you cause ive got 2 stone to lose to.
problem i ve got is a cant exercise.

owlets · 31/05/2011 16:15

Hello ladies! Welcome!

Are either of you two following plans? I might follow a regime if I can't manage to stick to healthy eating alone (which is quite likely!) but I want to see if I can motivate myself.
My aim for this week is to drink lots of water and up my veg intake. I am rubbish at drinking water, and recently i've been eating such processed junk that i've hardly had any fresh veg. I'm hoping that just rectifying this will make me feel healthier and more awake and then I'll have increased motivation. For me its such a slippery slope... start eating rubbish - feel rubbish - can't be bothered to cook so eat more rubbish etc etc...
Right, well good luck this week.

Hi! Me too! Have put on a stone since January (stress related I think!). Am off to go on rowing machine now. Bye!

Lambskin · 31/05/2011 16:28

Hello, I'll join if that's ok.

I've been on my fitness pal for about a month now and have lost 9lbs which I'm pleased with but have nearly 2 stone to go, 1 to be healthy but now I've started I want to get back to pre-husband weight (yes I blame him! Grin)

I'm doing this with dh but his calorie allowance makes me Envy so it would be nice to share with people who understand!

So, < big breath in > :

Starting weight: 11st 9
Target weight: 9st 7

Am I kidding myself that I can do this?

madwomanintheattic · 31/05/2011 16:35

feck. saw this and thought 'oo, i've got about 2 stone to lose and have been on the look-out for a thread', so i went and weighed myself.

i've actually got 3 stone to lose. balls.

i'm 12st 2 (that'll be the heaviest i've ever been then.)
need to be 9 - 9.5 as i'm 5'2" - think that's about right but will check.

gah. i knew my clothes were tight and i was feeling bleugh. and i've been sitting on my backside for a month since i gave up work to finish my msc. (eating biscuits, apparently)

so, better eating. and some exercise. actually, quite a bit of exercise.

i don't like the idea of a plan - it makes shopping too hard, so i'll fill the fridge with fruit and veg and lean meat, and not buy rubbish.

i'm shocked. i was expecting abround 11st. bum. bum. bum.

i didn't stay on the scales long enough to check body fat etc, and i'm now slightly alarmed about my bmi, as i was creeping into the obese range last year at much lighter.

right, off to check my numbers and i'll be back.

beanlet · 31/05/2011 16:37

I'm joining! 2st of baby weight still to lose and - TMI alert - the magic powers of breastfeeding are officially on the wane as of today (first period in nearly 2 years started today).

I'm on veg, fruit, lean meat and fish, low-fat dairy and limited carbs (oats and wholemeal bread).

Will weigh myself when near reliable set of scales...

madwomanintheattic · 31/05/2011 16:43
Shock my bmi is 31.1

i blame dh as well, lambskin. he's 6'2" and he cooks huge meals and dishes up equal portions for us both. i've tried to explain that i really don't need as much as he does. well, cooking myself now, then.

Lambskin · 31/05/2011 16:55

Depressing isn't it madwoman? Even when I'd try and have a healthy meal - fish, salad etc - in he'd come with his amazing homemade pizza dripping with cheese and oil and say 'oh there was some dough left over so I made one for you too' Shock Two teas! I ask you is it any wonder?!

Let's not even mention nice ham and nice cheese.

I've made myself hungry now.

madwomanintheattic · 31/05/2011 17:11

i ate a lot of brie last night, because i'd cooked for the kids earlier and couldn't be bothered. dh wasn't even here, so i can't blame for that one.

(but, mmm, pizza Blush)

even worse, dh started a new job a month ago, and due to his work hours and change of habits, has lost loads of weight. in fact i've been nagging him to take snacks with him to work! and i finished work a month ago and have done nothing but sit at a computer and drink tea.

right, but god, i've got to do something now. now that i know how much i weigh instead of just thinking 'oo, i've put on quite a lot of weight...' and then ignoring it.

i am genuinely shocked.

i have to sort this out now.

wfrances · 31/05/2011 17:27

my plan sounds simple cut out the biscuits ,mars bars ,crisps ,mcdonalds ,hagen daz ice cream and budweiser.
if that doesnt work i might use slim fast ,which fills me up as i dont actually eat a lot just the wrong stuff.

peaceofcake · 31/05/2011 18:32

Hello
I am doing weight watchers pro points signed up on Friday. Doing it home on line. (cost me about £30 for 3 months) then its £10 / month.
Had an appalling weekend though and I need some support thats why I joined the thread.

MrsStringerBell · 31/05/2011 18:46

Can I join please! Have about 2 stone to lose - am doing Anna Richardson's body blitz diet and lost 6lbs last week - it's really good - definitely recommend it! There's 6 rules - no wheat, no dairy (apart from 1?2 a pint of milk a day, for your bones!), no sugar, no carbs after 6pm and no booze. Quite easy to do, apart from the no carbs after 6pm rule, and have totally ignored the no booze rule, but seems to be working a bit at least! Think the first 6lbs was easy to lose because I'd been on a real food bender so was properly excess weight - now it's slowed down and the next 2 stones will be hard work!

Starting weight: 13st 0lb
Target weight: 11st 0lb

Anyone know how to lose 2st without doing any exercise?!

madwomanintheattic · 31/05/2011 18:55

i have no hope of losing weight without exercising. i'm fine once i start, and was a bit of a runner back in the day, but motivation is an issue. Grin

mind you, having seen those scales that'll be the motivation i need.

well done last week though - that's amazing! hopefully i'll find the first bit easy to shift too - having done nothing in a month surely it'll drop off if i actually get up and move?!

B4Beatrice · 31/05/2011 20:04

Hi was wondering if I can join?

Have 2st8 to loose. Was just over 3st but have lost 10lbs in just under two weeks on Dukan.

Was posting on Dukan thread but it seems to of gone a bit quiet and I really like the motivation I get from others on here.

So was- 12st3
Am now- 11st 7
Goal weight- 9st.

Keep it up everyone!

peaceofcake · 31/05/2011 20:17

What is Dukan?

TooImmature2BMum · 31/05/2011 20:17

Me too! I want to lose 2 stone ideally, but would be happy with reaching a BMI of 25 (so 1.5 stone, more or less). I'm only 5'2".

Current weight: 11 st 2
Goal weight: 9 stone

Oooh, tell me about the Dukan diet! 10 lbs in two weeks? Wow.

Lambskin · 31/05/2011 20:19

We're a bit of a mixed bag aren't we?

I don't eat/drink dairy because it upsets my stomach and carbs blow me up, especially bread, but have been addicted to both in the past.

I think I heard somewhere that you crave the foods you probably have an intolerance to. Don't know if this is true for everyone but makes sense for me. I can take or leave the sweet stuff but can eat bread and butter until I'm sick! Nice.

As for exercise; I have to do it to keep me on the straight and narrow. It speeds up the metabolism, gets rid of the flab, and I actually really enjoy it too.

MrsStringerBell why don't you want to exercise or is it that you can't?

TheOriginalNutcracker · 31/05/2011 20:24

Can I join please, I also have 2 stone to lose.

I am a carb addict so will need to work on this mostly. This time last year I lost 1 stone and was 8 stone 10. Now I am 10 stone 9 Sad

I haven't got time for much exercise atm, but will try.

Starting weight : 10st 9lbs
Target weight : 8st 8lbs

madwomanintheattic · 31/05/2011 20:46

ok, i'm going to post a daily food and exercise diary on here so that i am forced to deal with being honest every time i open a kitchen cupboard. hopefully it will help me keep the kitchen cupboards closed, or at least make me think whether i really need whatever it is. and i make an effort to do some sort of exercise every day...

right, i'm off to the grocery store to stock up on healthy stuff so that i don't eat crap in desperation.

worryingly, having weighed myself, the first thing i wanted to do was have a peanut butter cookie. but i didn't. first battle.

so, for me, today (and today's easy because it's day 1!):
bfast - bowl of cheerios w/ skimmed milk. (kids had pancakes and maple syrup, so cheerios isn't too bad!) three cups of tea. Blush well, buckets of tea, really. may have to cut down on the caffeine...
lunch - tuna and mayo, cucumber, mixed leaves, spring onion bun. two tomatoes. peppermint tea.
dinner (planned) chicken and stir fried veg. will try either no rice or a very small portion. depends how starving i am post-grocery shop. but will attempt to only cook enough carbs for kids and not me! dh not around so easier on that front.

exercise - twenty minutes of 'dear god which bits of me still work' in the living room with the curtains closed. interestingly, jogging on the spot meant that i could no longer feel my legs, which i am sure is not a good sign. i used to run marathons ffs. so easy does it, i think.

i'm dead chuffed that there are other shorties here! and about the same weight too!

i quite the 'mixed bag' approach - i've been leafing through the big/slim board trying to find some inspiration for a week or so, but a lot of the threads are very programme-specific. and i don't think i can do a programme. not organised enough.

right, good lcuk everyone!

peaceofcake · 31/05/2011 21:48

Good Luck!

Checked out Dukan and its too expensive for me. Just been to tesco and stocked up on WW stuff and loads of fruit cos it is now 0 points.

MrsStringerBell · 31/05/2011 22:09

Lambskin - no reason, just lazy and haven't found anything I enjoy enough to bother doing yet!

Thanks Madwoman - trying not to dwell on last week's success otherwise nothing's going to happen this week! Good luck with your exercise

B4Beatrice · 31/05/2011 22:17

Peaceofcake- Do you mean to expensive to join/do etc, or the food that you have to eat is too expensive.

If it is the first, I can give you the details so you dont have to pay if you PM me.

Lambskin · 31/05/2011 22:46

Fair enough MrsStringerBell, I hope you didn't mind me asking but if I don't exercise nothing happens unless I'm living on twiglets and water so I'm always very Envy at those who don't.

I keep veering from low calorie to low carb to no carb and back again. I like to think I'm keeping my body on its toes but I think I'm actually just confusing myself and spending a lot of money in Amazon. Last week I bought Everyday Paeleo and today it was the Anna Richardson Body Blitz.

I'll let you all know how it goes Confused

Cathycat · 31/05/2011 23:17

I'm 10st 4 at the moment and have got 9 st 10 in my head for July. Want to go longer but I'm best with a chunk at a time. I'm eating a big carrot (!) just now as I'm hungry!
