Whilst shopping with my super slim friend over the weekend I realised just how fat I feel - and getting on the scales provided proof. I've put on 2 stone - 1 stone of which has come on very recently ( think a month or two?!).
Other than looking lumpy and increasingly featureless, my legs are achy and I don't feel like I've woken up properly ever.
So, I'm going to start on the diet today. The plan is to eat lots of veg and fruits, lean meats, and limited carbs. I'm going to have 3 decent sized meals a day, and not snack unless I'm truely hungry.

I'm going to weigh myself and post on here every Tuesday. Anyone who wants to join in please do!

Starting weight; 11st 13.
(Target weight 10st so 1st 13lbs to lose)

I'm going to join in too! I've 2 stone to loose and am starting Anna Richardson's Body Blitz today as well. Am going on holidays in just over 6 weeks and am doing bridesmaid in the middle of August, so just want to get as much as possible off by then.

I had been doing the 30 day shred, but haven't bothered the last 2 weeks, so need to get back into that, coupled with 1-2 trips to the gym a week.

I'm fed up with the fact that I have a wardrobe full of lovely summer clothes that don't fit me, so am determined to do something about it!

bogle · 01/06/2011 08:46

Oh god, just weighed in at 12 stone 2, am 5 foot five and look ok at 11 stone but better at ten and a half... and... I'm 40 in 6 weeks so last chance to look fabulous for my birthday.

My strategy is low carb, lots of fruit and veg, water, protein and 30 day shred.

No clothes fitting at present, so gotta get started. Right.

Lambskin · 01/06/2011 08:48

Morning everyone!

Hello littledolly, I'm going to have a go at the Body Blitz thing as it looks doable to me. I already don't have dairy, have minimal wheat, sugar and carbs generally. Alcohol I've actually developed a weird reaction to since drastically cutting back on it. I go red and hot in the face then the next morning I have (tmi alert) an 'upset' stomach. I think I can definitely cope for 14 days.

For breakfast this morning I've had porridge made with water and honey, and a large mug of green tea which I am now addicted to. I'm going to do Davina's Superbody later or some yogalates depends on ds2 really and how much frustration I have to channel.
loving all these school holidays Grin

bogle · 01/06/2011 11:10

Have just day 1 of the Shred. It wasn't toooooo bad. Porridge now. Good luck everyone

owlets · 01/06/2011 12:49

Morning all.
So many of us....
Well I had a pretty sorry start. Was very good all day untill DH came home with Ben and Jerrys and I was too greedy to resist. When did I become that woman?? It was not long ago that I decided I needed to lose three pounds and as of that second i'd be little miss disciplined. Now I need to lose 10x that and I'm caving in at the first temptation.
Balls.
I do feel better today for only having eaten junk after dinner rather than all day [clutching at straws emoticon]
Right, so today, poached egg for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and undecided dinner probably involving chicken + veg.

madwomanintheattic · 01/06/2011 16:12
Grin oo, ben & jerrys Envy i added two peanut butter cookies and an orange to my list yesterday after i'd posted. but it could easily have been a packet.

have discovered i appear to be craving salt, which is interesting. have always had highish bp (inherited from my mother who had strokes in her early thirties - have been pretty much paranoid for the last ten years...) so i need to watch that. am hoping as i add in more fruit and veg and less crap that the salt craving will subside...

am planning on getting davina out of her box later, but as my tv disappears tomorrow for a month, i'll be more concentrating on remembering as much as i can! after yesterday's saga i doubt i'll make it through anyway, so i should have plenty of time to make notes...

meal planning today:
bfast - i made raisin and bran muffins for the kids (and ate two) which wasn't a good start. i shall be ignoring the other 20-odd though . have already had 3 cups of tea. i'm guessing the cutting down caffeine thing isn't going so well first thing in the morning. did alright the rest of the day yesterday. maybe just two tomorrow Blush

lunch - salady thing with a small-ish bit of cheese, grated in. yoghurt

dinner - salmon. will have small portion of rice (succeeded in not doing so yesterday which is probably why i caved and went for the cookies) and some steamed veg.

AND I WILL EAT FRUIT THIS EVENING NOT BLARDY COOKIES

i'll let you know how davina goes... i've got power of three and, er, something else.

bogle i just turned 40 a few months ago. Grin good luck with the happy birthday bod. Grin

i think for me it's more the health aspects. i knew i was getting bigger, but i hadn't quite realised i had slipped over into the 'obese' territiory as opposed to just being a bit overweight. and i would like to be able to run up and down the stairs without needing oxygen, please. and to not have to buy any more new clothes because they are all too small.

Lambskin · 01/06/2011 16:56

Grin you make me laugh madwoman.

I too turned 40 a few months ago and being overweight really makes me feel my age. I wear big baggy clothes that make me look like a bag lady or a teenager (from a very great distance if you squint).

I have yet to do any exercise at all today and have to take the cat to her own WW in a minute so it's not looking likely for the rest of the day either.

Food wise I have been excellently behaved however. The above breakfast and some Baxters Healthy soup. I am virtuous.

I made some banana bread this afternoon though and it is singing gentle and soothing songs of temptation. Right. Off to heave me and obese cat off for some shame.

B4Beatrice · 01/06/2011 19:09

Hi guys just logging my day.

11st7 this morning.

Left DP and DD and burnt off 179 calories (according to MFP)

Breakfast- 2 tables spoons worth of chocolate oat bran cookies- 119 calories
Lunch- butterflied Cajun chicken breast - 110 calories
Dinner- Dukan PP easy chicken curry- 357 calories

20mins on X Trainer- 200 calories

Total calories in 586
Calories out 379

Would normally be looking forward to getting on scales tomorrow. But am due on so may not loose as much as expected. Never mind!

Keep it up ladies!!

TheOriginalNutcracker · 01/06/2011 21:02

Right, I had an awful day, no excuse, i was just a pig. I'm not going to list what I ate as it would be embarassing, but I am going to do better tomorrow.

Are any of you using something as an incentive ?? I have been trying to think of something, especially something visual, or an event i'd like to look nice for, but can't think of a thing.

madwomanintheattic · 02/06/2011 06:08

um. my mum is coming to stay in august. she drives me mental, so i would like to be able to run away fast when i need to? Grin is that good enough? in all seriousness i have clothes in my wardrobe that i've never worn. ever. and i'd quite like to fit in them. at least once.

haven't done too badly on the eating front. stuck to plan but added yoghurt and raspberries after dinner.

madwomanintheattic · 02/06/2011 06:10

on a slightly technical note - is it possible for an utter technical feckwit to work out how to play a fitness dvd on a laptop? Blush

otherwise i'm pretty stuffed on the guided exercise front...

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 08:11

B4Beatrice Well done with the exercise, but be careful with your calorie intake that seems very low to me, aren't you starving?

TheOriginalNutcracker I've got my husband's birthday next week, a wedding in a month, and my son's off to Uni so I don't want to be embarrassing and frumpy plus where we will be staying has a Chinese restaurant attached (need I say more?). I ultimately want to be 2stone lighter by my birthday in December which should be achievable.

I usually weigh myself on a Thursday so I'll tell you now I'm 11st 5, same as last week which is disappointing but I'm bloated and I think my period is due so it could be a lot worse. whispers may have something to do with the whole garlic bread I ate though.

I shall log the cat's achievements too as it may help - she's had to have her back shaved because she can't clean herself there anymore(!)

Starting weight 6.3kg
Weight now 6.2kg

Green tea and banana for breakfast

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 08:16

Madwomanintheattic have you tried just putting the DVD in and seeing what happens? I'm not technical at all but seem to remember doing something like that once and it being quite straightforward when I got going. What about running if that doesn't work?

bogle · 02/06/2011 09:59

Morning everyone, I did quite well last night in that I managed not to just eat and eat and eat whilst infront of the TV. Just working up to doing day 2 of the Shred and then I'll have some porridge.

Lambskin I want/need to lose 2 stone in 6 weeks!!!!! Oh god, why didn't i do this sooner?

Good luck everyone today

B4Beatrice · 02/06/2011 10:13

Lambskin. Not at all, this Dukan Diet just makes me not hungry.

I had a reasonable bowl of curry last night and had that "full" feeling. It just didn't have many calories.

Anyway, good news is I have lost another 2lbs.
The scales were a little stuck early in the week but I was due on, so was obviously retaining water. Now I have come on, I think maybe I have lost water weight?

So am now 11st 5lbs.

If I can lose another 2lbs by the end of the week I will of lost a stone in 2.5 weeks.

Body is a bit sore this morning so will take it easy and go for a walk up the hill to supermarket, and then x trainer tonight.

Am also on a vegetable and protein day today do will probably eat more calories.

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 10:57

bogle Don't be alarmed! That's a guide for me so that I don't get disheartened and so that I don't crash diet. I lost loads of weight on an Atkins type diet 12 years ago and was a size 8, but am now the fattest I've ever been so it wasn't maintainable. I'm relearning how to eat!

B4Beatrice I know what you mean, protein really fills you up. Please ignore me, I'm just used to mfp telling me off if I go below 1200 calories and that doesn't happen very often! A stone in 2.5 weeks! That's amazing! Bloody well done!

Done Davina's Super Body and enjoyed it and am now wearing some size 12 trousers that were too tight a couple of weeks ago but are now quite baggy! They are drawstrings and Boden though so don't really count as being able to get into a 12 but I'm having it. Grin

MumPotNoodle · 02/06/2011 10:59

Hello ladies, hope you don't mind me chipping in but have been lurking on this thread since it started.

Lambskin, I am very much like you in that all the diets seem great so switch from one to another.

I have just done two weeks on BodyBlitz (waves to MrsStringer), lost about 6/8lbs, no reliable scales at the moment, lost an inch from my waist....it's a very doable "diet". However, a lovely mner emailed me loads of SW info and she has lost 10lbs in 3 weeks, so that is probably my next move.

I have also been looking at the LunchBox Diet which is basically a graze all day diet, this one claims a stone in four weeks.

PeppaKew · 02/06/2011 11:13

I'd like to join too.
I'm 5'1 and 10.1 stone.
Target - 9 stone.

I've lost 1.5 stone already but have been off the wagon for a month. I'm on South Beach low carb diet. Started Jan 4th and was a very slow but steady loss -1/2lbs a week only.

Want to blitz some weight before summer. My weight gain was due to pregnancy - will not make the same mistake next time! I'm going all out protein to try to speed things up. Going to keep the veggies in check.

B4Beatrice · 02/06/2011 11:14

It's okay lambskin! To be honest yesterday I was wondering that about MFP. I only started using it yesterday, but I don't think I could of eaten 1200 calories plus the 300 odd that I burnt. And also, the more food I added the longer it said I will take to get to my goal weight (that's fine) but then it says dieting will slow down if you don't eat enough?

Maybe I'm not getting it??

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 11:22

This is how I'm feeling B4B, I started on mfp but I get bloated with carbs and don't eat dairy and so am looking around at high protein low carb again, this puts me at odds with mfp. I think I'll go low carb (just from fruit and veg) with a vague eye on calories but won't eat if I feel full. It's just whether I can maintain it.

B4Beatrice · 02/06/2011 12:52

I hope you don't mind me mentioning (and please feel free to ignore!) but I have been doing alot of reading lately mainly Dukan but also some stuff that James Dougan wrote (Clean and Lean) and both books only suggest eating one portion of fruit per day (at this stage of Ducan I don't eat any).

Basically the are saying that in "ze olden days". Not much fruit was eaten as it was such a luxury. And we had no imported fruit, bannanas, mango etc.
Although fruit is natural it has so much sugar and sometimes it will slow down weightless, also they say to eat your 5 a day with vegetables and one portion of fruit. Also stick to English fruit, apples, pears, berries etc.

I could eat fruit all day long, and when I used to diet I used to eat loads, but I'm losing weight better than ever now I'm not eating any.

Like I said, just sharing what I have been reading. Please feel free to ignore!

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 14:02

Thanks for that - I certainly will not ignore! That's why being on here is helpful. I'm a bit of an exotic fruit addict but I have had a feeling it was probably not doing me any favours. I've got some mixed berries (frozen) so they should be ok for breakfast shouldn't they? I need something small first thing before I exercise otherwise I'm just jelly.

B4Beatrice · 02/06/2011 14:16

I think so. Apples and pears are ment to be good also.

Apparently since the government did the "5 a day" campaign, people eat more fruit than vegetables, and also it's so easy to purchase exotic fruit fruit now. Years ago that wasn't an option (ie an orange at Christmas!). Also should of mentioned Dukan advises to just not eat bananas, mango, grapes or dried fruit (I love dried fruit!) as they all just have too much sugar. Even when fruit is re-introduced, at one portion a day, it says not to eat these fruits.

If you are a fruit addict, why not have some crudities, pre cut, in the fridge, to have when you fancy snacking on something which would normally be fruit.

I think once I am onto the fruit stage I am going to have a berry milkshake (skimmed milk) every morning. I can also add the oat bran into these.

I really miss fruit and smoothies!

MrsStringerBell · 02/06/2011 14:35

Mumpotnoodle - what's SW that you mention? Surely not a dieting phenomenon that has passed me by?!

Reading all this about fruit makes me want to cry - that's the only thing that stops me from losing my marbles after my no carb dinner!

Lambskin · 02/06/2011 14:41

Thank you for that Beatrice (I think!). You certainly know a lot about fruit! This is why I need a regime, I can't wing it like madwoman otherwise I'll eat everything. I like rules dammit! I just need to decide which ones! Confused Grin
