Whilst shopping with my super slim friend over the weekend I realised just how fat I feel - and getting on the scales provided proof. I've put on 2 stone - 1 stone of which has come on very recently ( think a month or two?!).
Other than looking lumpy and increasingly featureless, my legs are achy and I don't feel like I've woken up properly ever.
So, I'm going to start on the diet today. The plan is to eat lots of veg and fruits, lean meats, and limited carbs. I'm going to have 3 decent sized meals a day, and not snack unless I'm truely hungry.

I'm going to weigh myself and post on here every Tuesday. Anyone who wants to join in please do!

Starting weight; 11st 13.
(Target weight 10st so 1st 13lbs to lose)

Blush oops. sorry.
Lambskin · 07/06/2011 17:44

I hope you don't mind me being nosey but where are you madwoman? With coyotes I thought the States but you're cold so that's north (I'm very clever at geography just not finding mince). Are you in Alaska? Or Canada?

madwomanintheattic · 07/06/2011 17:53

canada.

TinyBubbles · 08/06/2011 07:18

Good morning all!

Plan for today is B: Yog and strawbs/L: ryvita and hummus/D: Pasta with meat sauce and roast veg

I am also currently cooking a banana cake so I will make sure to have none or a small slice...it's not really my fav so i'm not likely to scoff it all down but i put dark choc chunks in and I might need to test it for scientific reasons Wink

No formal exercise planned but I need to do lots of cleaning so that will help!

Lambskin · 08/06/2011 12:04

The omelette last night was actually very nice, I had it with courgette spaghetti and prawns with coriander, chilli and spring onions.

Today I've had my mixed berries, done Davina's Body Buff Boxing, had a boiled egg and 2 ryvitas and 2 cups of green tea.
Lunch will be lentil and vegetable soup
Dinner is salmon fillet with roasted vegetables - peppers, fennel, asparagus and rocket salad.

I make banana bread every week TinyBubbles, I love the smell of it baking but I have to have a kiwi fruit while dc are eating it. Hard isn't it?

I'm now imagining your life being like in Gentle Ben (anyone?) madwoman surrounded by wilderness and wildlife and living in a cabin. I'm sure it's just like that, please don't ruin the fantasy!

Lambskin · 08/06/2011 12:06

Oh btw my MIL tracked down some turkey mince in Waitrose (naturally) so we're having it tomorrow (bloody 6 quid though so had better be worth it!).

TinyBubbles · 08/06/2011 22:11

Oh I remember gentle ben - that boy kept shouting Beeee-an Beee-an in a squeaky voice!

Managed to offload lots of banana bread onto visitors and just had a bite to see how it was with choc in - nice! But like i said it's not my fav cake so quite easy to resist...i make it alot to use up the overripe nanas lurking in my fruit bowl Wink

Planning to do my new Davina DVD in the morning - ooooh exciting! Going to have grapefruit breakfast/hummus ryvitas lunch/dinner something fishy?? I'll go to the fishmongers and see what looks good I think Smile

One more day til weigh in ... eek!

madwomanintheattic · 09/06/2011 05:34

gentle ben? never heard of it, will have to google...

there's plenty of wilderness though. and animals. last week dd2 got told off by the neighbour for letting the dogs 'chase the deer'. they weren't chasing the deer, the poor child had let them out of the back door for a pee, and two voluminous labradors bounding down the steps with their legs crossed had startled the deer, which legged it into the woods. the dogs are so thick they hadn't even seen the blardy deer. (and they don't chase anyway. they are terrified of the things, yelp, and run behind you. they are quite big deer. mule deer and elk, fact fans.) we also have bear and cougars and wolves. but i don't like to think about that too much.

not a cabin, though. sorry. Grin (there'd be too many spiders for a start). but i do own a red plaid shirt and mukluks Grin and dh wants to buy a canoe, which i am resisting. i suspect one will turn up any day.

righty. have been driving all day. literally. 8 blardy hours. and am knackered and eaty. but i've had a large bowl of salad with cranberries, pear dressing and two poached eggs. the rest of the day was a write off - i had a couple of mouthfulls of melon first thing and got in the car with a cup of tea, and had a bagel at about eleven. so i was starving by 5 and ended up pulling into a gas station and buying one of those small pots of pringles. gah.

and no exercise. sitting on my fat lardy driving arse all day. tis no wonder, really.

tomorrow will be soup (it's largely orange. courtesy of the carrots and squash. but with a reddish tinge from the peppers. it also has swede, because i had some left over. and a few other odds and ends. quite tasty. but i had forgotten that with soup i always want more soup. and then more soup. hints for filling up that don't involve large amounts of bread???)

i'm going to have to make bolognese tomorrow night, but will have no pasta and salad instead. is it wrong to be fantasising about it already?

madwomanintheattic · 09/06/2011 05:39

right, just googled - that ben can't have been that gentle, have you seen the size of that chain round his neck? Shock Grin

oo, and just noticed courgette spaghetti upthread, lamb, which might help me out of my bol squeeze... how do you do that then?

Lambskin · 09/06/2011 15:54

I am so tired. Just come back from a school trip, my feet are killing me, my head is pounding and my ears are ringing. How anyone does this for a living and doesn't go mad I don't know but they have my utmost respect and admiration.

Food wise it's been very good. Porridge made with water and honey for breakfast, then lunch was packed so basic - a hard boiled egg, 2 ryvitas and a kiwi fruit with bottles water.

No exercise, but surely trudging around Birmingham's Think Tank has to count for something.

Tonight is spicy turkey wraps (the wraps are lettuce, the turkey I think we've heard enough about).

madwoman courgette spaghetti is very thin strips of courgette (obviously!). I've got a thingummy to do mine with, looks like a potato peeler but with a sharp end and about 4 holes. Sorry I can't remember its name but it basically grates it, but longer. Rambling now must stop.

Check in again in the morning for the weigh in!

madwomanintheattic · 09/06/2011 16:03

do you just blanch it then? (is it like a lemon zester but bigger?)

school trips. urgh. i remember being issued a bunch of yr3s to tout round the zoo for a day. all they really wanted to climb the railings and play on the park. no-one really cared about the habitats they were supposed to be investigating. in the end i gave up and bought them all an ice cream. including the really annoying blonde girl who was too weak to carry her bag and insisted on holding my hand for the whole day. she was new, bless, but dear god if she whined any more she was going to be fed to the tigers. not much meat on her though...

i had toast this morning but have time to exercise, so will be committing sport at some point. could run with the dogs i suppose. really ought to.

interestingly (not really) every time i take up running again i get heavier. i know it makes sense, because muscle is heavier than the flab i normally sport etc etc, but i only ever seem to get heavier. not lighter. hmm. i suspect i'm increasing my appetite and maintaining weight (well, increasing with muscle...) i suppose it would start to go the other way after a period of time.

i guess that's where not weighing yourself, but measuring success in terms of clothes fit etc comes in.

TinyBubbles · 09/06/2011 16:18

Hello all - agree school trips are awful!! I don't know how teacher do it!

I did new Davina "Aerobic fit" 30 mins this morn and it was OK - got interrupted with a work call Angry it was quite easy to follow so next time i'll be able to get it all I think. Worked up a sweat so must have done some good!

Just had some strawbs as a snack and i'm doing plaice goujons (sp?) with asparagus and green salad for dinner.

See you for the weigh in in the morning!! Finger crossed for a good 1st week loss for everyone x

Lambskin · 09/06/2011 16:18

No need to blanche or do anything to it, just strip/grate it raw and away you go. I leave the middle bit and it is dull to do, but no cooking and minimal calories.

Yes, I had the obligatory whiney girl and was weighed down like a packhorse. We had animatronic (?) dinosaurs to scare them with, very satisfying Grin.

Before joining myfitnesspal I exercised 3/4 times a week and was not shifting any weight just getting bigger but I that was because I had no idea how many calories I was consuming and thought that because I had been so 'good' I must have earnt some wine/cheese/nice bread. I hadn't. That was me though, plus I only bought scales a month ago so was able to lie to myself before, can't now.

madwomanintheattic · 10/06/2011 06:03

well, my last courgette was beyond redemption and went in the bin instead of me, so it was salad with bol and no spag.
weighed myself earlier - rationalising that you'll all be up before me anyway, so i'll be first.

starting weight 12.2
today's weight 11.13 1/2

Grin Grin

i'm very surprised. i was half expecting no change at all as i've just swopped out most of the carbs for salads and veggies. it seems to be making a difference! have done a little exercise, but not all that much, so am now interested to see if doing more will have an effect, too! Grin

good luck all!

(you may have something with the 'earning' a treat thing... and then one leads to another etc)

madwomanintheattic · 10/06/2011 06:06
Lambskin · 10/06/2011 07:35

Good morning everyone!

First congratulations to madwoman Hooray! Grin Grin

Tiny I have to say I was very impressed that you managed to take a work call, I've got that DVD and it's all I can do to breathe never mind talk coherently!

Right, down to business:

Start weight: 12st
Last week's weight: 11st 5.8
This week's weight: 11st 3.2

So that's good then. I can't wait to be under 11 stone I'll feel more me then.

I think you're right about the carbs madwoman my stomach is actually flat! I was wearing newly washed jeans yesterday that are usually tight at the best of times but yesterday they were falling off me and hanging round my hips!
It's my dh's birthday on Monday though so this weekend would normally be a food and booze fest. We are having a take away or going out for a meal (or even both!!) so I'm not sure how realistic that 11 stone is for the next week or 2.

Good luck everybody!

TinyBubbles · 10/06/2011 07:40

Weigh in day:
Start weight - 11st 6
Today's weight - 11st 1

Very pleased as I have been trying my best this week Grin

Am in for a weekend of family parties though so God knows what will be eaten Confused I will try to make the best choices can from what is available.

Today is Breakfast: Yog and blueberries/Lunch Ryvita and hummus/Dinner Stuffed chicken, pots and green beans.

I want to exercise but am rather busy so will have to see how it goes!!

TinyBubbles · 10/06/2011 07:42

Well done everyone - doing faaaah-bulous darlings!!

I can't wait to be under 11st either Lamb should be do-able by next friday methinks Wink

Lambskin · 10/06/2011 07:45

Well done Tiny! 5lbs! That amazing! Grin Envy

erebus · 10/06/2011 08:44

Weigh in:

Start weight 13 stone on May 4th
Today 12 stone (5 1/2 weeks later).

.....quietly pleased.

Lambskin · 10/06/2011 10:30

Well done erebus! Don't be quiet about it, jump up and down and do a little dance Grin A whole stone deserves some celebrating. Have people been noticing yet?

erebus · 10/06/2011 11:01

Interestingly, not really- though I'm not actually suprised. I haven't publicised my diet at all, and I wear more or less pyjamas at work (theatre type scrubs) which hide a multitude of sins, and I am still wearing my fat clothing such as slightly smock-y tops. One woman, a friend, noticed BUT she is one of the 2 people at work who know I am consciously trying to lose weight so I'm not sure she wasn't just being encouraging, though she did go on to question me in depth about my method so I guess she must be seeing some results!

I suspect I need to lose my second stone before it becomes more obvious, but that's OK- I'm doing it for me!

Incidentally, my Wii Fit rather ridiculously wants me to aim for a BMI of 22 which is 9st 6lb on my 5'6" frame. Oh yeah. I will settle happily for a BMI of 25 which is my target, 10st 10lbs!

B4Beatrice · 10/06/2011 12:51

Congrats all!

Start weight- 12st 3
Todays weight- 11st 3

Start day was three weeks ago on wednesday (one just gone) so have pretty much lost a stone in three weeks.

Looking forward to weighing in next week so that I can follow it week to week now.

Well done everyone

B4Beatrice · 10/06/2011 12:52

Oh, and onwards to being under 11st next week hopefully!

I think there is a few of us like that?

madwomanintheattic · 10/06/2011 15:59

wow! you guys are fab! i'm feeling the pressure now...

tonight is guides and pathfinders camp, and i suspect (seeing as the girls are organising) it's beans and sausages for dinner Grin have also been invited to a bbq tomorrow night, but am spending all day hiking with said campers, so that should go some way to controlling effects! (but am now watching for that 'oo, i was so good i deserve a treat' nonsense Wink)

i finally move house in 2 1/2 weeks. it would be nice to be closer to 11st at that point, but tis sadly unrealistic to have got there i think. ah well. easy does it. mil is coming out in about 4 weeks though, so i'd like to have done it by then. she's a bit of a fitness freak. it's always faintly embarassing when a woman pushing 70 skips up the mountains like a goat, leaving a sweaty puffing mess in her wake... she is lovely though. gets up at 6 every morning and drives 20 miles to the swimming pool she likes (Grin) and has just joined a gym. i'll potter along with quadruple bypass fil Wink

but next week we'll be looking for lamb, tiny and B4B to break the 11 st marker! woohoo!

and well done erebus - the 12st marker! (me too, but i only had 2 to lose to get there Wink)
