Not sure when I last posted but here is what happened to me........

I faffed around for a while and let it all go and put back on 11.5lbs!

I was gutted.

I got a grip. Lost 5lb first week. 2lb the second week. 1.5lb last night.

8.5lbs in 3 weeks. Just 4lbs more til I am back where I was.

6 weeks to my holiday and I know I can do it. Grin

LolaLadybird · 30/06/2011 20:25

Littlefish - keep the faith! I think you need to reflect on how far you've come, how rubbish you felt before you lost weight (presumably) and how good it feels now. Think about all the compliments you've had and the nice clothes you're able to wear. Also, maybe you need to think forward to another goal seeing as you've had your holiday which is always a big motivator in itself. Do you have any other occasions/events later in the summer or autumn that you would like to be in a nice outfit for? (HTH - am much better at kind words than butt-kicking!)

Korma - please don't feel too despondent. Littlefish is right in that the losses have to slow down eventually. Slower loss is the way to keep it off and this week is a new week.

Benbon - well done on loss and fwiw, I don't think 14 is too big for a bikini. Have been conducting a straw poll amongst ladies I know this week as I've been having same deliberations (I am a 14-16). I think, basically, it's about how you feel and, as one friend said, you will always see someone bigger in a bikini when on hols! I have worn tankinis for years but given that my trouble area is my bottom and thighs (and my waist one of the better bits), I've decided to go for it.

Collision - sorry to hear about the bad patch but well done on the swift recovery.

I have taken the decision to stop attending the meetings and just do WW online (you may recall my musings on this subject a couple of pages back) and am feeling really positive. Have changed my WI day from a Tuesday to a Thursday which I think will help. Warm weather is definitely helping me to feel more focussed (as is the bikini shopping!) - makes my holiday in August seem more of a reality.

vnmum · 30/06/2011 20:38

collision well done on pulling it back

Norky as the great jillian michaels herself says " I have 500lb people doing jumping jacks, if they can do it so can you" or something like that Smile

hmc · 01/07/2011 09:31

Ha ha vnmum you must do that DVD a lot if you can quote it chapter and verse!

Well done losers, and especially well done to Collision for pulling it back and returning to the fold

I stayed STS this week, bit miffed with myself since am only 1lb from goal and with a bit more focus and effort would have got there, but determined to do it this coming week!

Littlefish - don't know how you can re-motivate yourself. Dig out some photos of when you started the diet and remind yourself of how you don't want to go back? Return to first principles and track everything meticulously and have faith in the diet. Are you still faithfully tracking consistently? - I know I didn't bother last week, and consequently I sts

AddictedtoCrunchies · 01/07/2011 15:30

Hello, could I join you please?

I joined WW online yesterday after being a SW girl for many years. I think I've got it sussed now and the website is excellent (I love stats and graphs).

Just off for a 40m swim to earn some extras as going to Take That tomorrow and can't imagine Wembley will offer much in the way of healthy food (although I do plan to take a packed lunch - it's just tea I'm stuck on).

Would anyone like to give me their best tip for following the plan? What works best for you? I will check in later and write them all on the front of the fridge.

Willabywallaby · 01/07/2011 20:33

Just caught up with last few days. Been really busy with troublesome DS. But lost 1.5lb on Wednesday! Only 1lb from goal. Really want to get there next week but camping tomorrow and enjoying a 2nd glass of White tonight....

Well done to the losers, keep going!

hmc · 01/07/2011 20:37

Take a packed lunch and packed tea to TT addictedtocruchies. Have fun tomorrow!

Tips - weight, measure and track religiously

  • try to do a minimum of at least 'moderate' exercise (i.e it makes you breathe more heavily and perspire) for 30 minutes per day for 5 x per week. I realise it sounds a lot but is government guidelines for just staying healthy, and regular exercise combined with diet has really worked for me (lost over 4 stone)
  • resistance training to build lean muscle is highly effective since muscle raises your resting metabolism
  • try to plan what your meals will be in advance

Good luck

herdingcats · 01/07/2011 20:39

BartletForAmerica · 03/07/2011 15:39

Rather disappointed to have put on 0.4lb this week rather than losing anything. I definitely feel more toned so perhaps (she says hopefully) the Shred is putting on muscle. I've been good at tracking so not sure why else that might have happened. I'll just need to make sure that I do everything carefully this week and hope it is just a blip.

vnmum · 03/07/2011 19:14

bartlet it probably is the shred and muscle.

I am expecting a gain on thursday. I have not been good at all this weekend. I went to pizzahut on friday and when i worked out what i had, all my 49 were nearly gone. I have been socialising so there has been cake and things. I have had 2 mcdonalds in 3 days and fish and chips (i haven't had fish and chips for soooo long that it tasted lovely going down, but didn't feel it was worth it afterwards). I am at the point now where there is no way i can make any of it back so I am just going to stick to my 29 a day for the rest of the week and try and get some exercise in.

I've got a busy few weekends coming up aswell so I am going to have to be carefull.

NorkyButNice · 03/07/2011 19:22

Hope everyone has had a good weekend?

We've ended up eating out twice over the weekend but I've been careful with my points and had small dinners to stay within points.

It's my first week on PP so I'm feeling my way carefully around the weekly 49 - how have people found using them affecting their weightloss?

Also, if I have a single glass of wine a day within points, is that OK?

herdingcats · 03/07/2011 20:46

Hello all hope everyone has had a fab weekend.
I've been at the airshow all day today ,helping DH host . We had a lovely couple to look after ,they were 63 yrs married and he was a formmer WW2 pilot.
I ate sensibly but had lovely food, just wrote it all down, pointed it when I got home, and it was 29PPShock I must be doing a decent job of judging the point values at last.
Did have Alcohol though and it took 20 of my activity points, but hey ho I enjoyed it Grin

androbbob · 03/07/2011 22:06

Evening all!

Just popping in - our internet is playing up and I am very busy this week so wont be on much.

Bathroom has now been completed and I had my first proper shower today - it was great! If you want to be nosey there are some photos here on FB

Busy weekend - school fair (help out on PTA) and shopping today for birthday presents for my niece.

Hope all well and losing loads of weight *unlike me who STS again!

hmc · 03/07/2011 23:06

New bathroom is lush androbbob - making me ponder doing ours

Littlefish · 04/07/2011 08:00

How funny androbbob - our bathroom will be finished this week as well. :-)

I've had a strange few days. I'm staying with a family member who is having a tough time at the moment and needed some support. I've been away from dh and dd for 3 days now and am really missing them. I should be back by Friday.

I'm trying really hard to be good with my food, and will try and find a class here to go to either today or tomorrow.

I've tried hard all week, and really hope to have lost at least 1lb.

The upside of being away is that I'm hoping to get a bit of shopping done this week - some wonderful, child-free shopping!

Does anyone know how accurate scales are in different WW groups?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 04/07/2011 10:09

Right, am gong to try and catch up !

Hattifattner, congrats on 5lb loss, how amazing.

Lola, with the bit about meetings versus home, I think it really depends on how much you personally need the weigh in bit to pull you back on track. I missed 2 weeks in June as had stuff on and had put on the previous 2 weeks and June was a write off with 3.5lb gain. However, went to meeting on Thursday and it really helped me to draw a line and am hoping to report a decent loss this week. I need it, others don't, guess you have to find out which camp you are in.

NorkybutNice, a belated welcome and fingers cross for a good first week. I can't do the Shred as is too harsh on my knees. Did it once, but second time gave up after 5 mins as could feel it doing knees in and they were sore. Maybe give it a go and see how you get on but if you don't like it, there's loads of other things to do. I try to be what I think of conciously active eg. take things upstairs, park further away. Combined with gardening at allotment and some dog walking, it's enough exercise to boost my loss and I don't notice it too much as I have to do it anyway. With the wine it is fine to have it your points. And with the weeklies it is experimentation I'm afraid. In theory you can eat dailies and weeklies but a few people find they can't. I can but try to eat weeklies spread over Thur to Sun, having a high point day on a Saturday, then Mon to Wednesday stick to dailies and go easy on carbs.

Chockybick, thanks for Bienenstich points.Well done for not eating cake at your meeting. Flipping heck, WW is expensive in Germany. I am sort of contemplating a WI at the meeting local to where we are staying as I know you WI at any meeting with membership. But in reality think I shall take the Wii and weigh on that. Have big family reunion on 2nd August at my cousin's house, so need to keep to straight and narrow between now and then.

Debs39, congratualtions, what a lovely reason to put on weight !

Herdingcat well done to stick to it and manage a half pound loss with all those visitors, very impressive.

PrettyMeerkat Sorry you aren't losing, I agree with VNMum about the carbs. Maybe try a protein breakfast and see if that helps all?

Bartlet I agree with you about eating chips as a concious decision because you want chips and not as a treat. Don't get demoralised about gain, I've had a few friends who have started excercising and gained, it does start to come off again.

Wrongdecade, great result after your holiday, would love to follow in your footsteps but suspect I won't !

Noway good loss, well done.

Froot, you are the Queen of low point alcohol drinks, haven't been drinking but am inspired to try one of those.

Littlefish. It is flipping hard when you have a lot to lose and really does become a journey, however naff it sounds. I've got a similar amount to you, 7 st 4lbs in total. I think you have to look at it as something that happens in stages and that there are a series of hurdles to be jumped. June has been one for me and I went completely off the rails with 3.5lb gain. But have drawn my line and am doing it again and was saying to DH to put the gain in context, I've lost over that in a week before. So I guess it's just like him putting on a few pounds over Christmas then cutting back and losing it and that's the challenge we'll have when we get to goal.

The times when it is hard and we slip are great practice for when we have cracked it and are at goal (and we will be). Keep at it, it will happen and in a few months you'll suddenly realise instead of being half way through, you're 2/3rds, then 3/4s and it won't seem as bad. DH said today what a huge task it seemed a year ago (15th July I started), but now I have just under 3 stone left, am hoping to have 2.5 stone by the time I go away, and all of a sudden it doesn't seem too bad. Hang in there and maybe plot your monthly weight loss on a graph and see the lovely downwards line, plus treat yourself to something you really would like to wear in your next size down and hang it on the wardrobe door. Oh and looking at old photos has given me a kick up the backside, I am so not going back there again. Keep going, you are doing brilliantly.

Korma you have lost a huge amount of weight in 3 weeks, 11lbs. Pick up 22 packs of butter and it puts it in context. It isn't sustainable to keep at that rate, please don't be demoralised with a pound, they really add up after a bit and PP becomes easier as you feel more familiar with it and then time speeds up and before you know it, the pounds here and there have added up to serious weightloss.

Benbon congrats on the loss.

Collision, well done on pulling it back, you've done brilliantly with that.

Lola good luck with the switch to online, holidays are hugely motivating I find !

HMC and Willaby 1lb to go for both of you, how exciting and excellent timing, just before school holidays

VNMum sounds like a good plan between now and WI, a few days on track can make quite a difference I've found in the past.

Androbobb, love the bathroom and am very jealous as ours has tiles off the wall and needs to be done but can't be until house rewired which is happening when we are away.

Apologies for the very long post and to anyone who I have missed or posted since I started typing ages ago !

hmc · 04/07/2011 10:33

Hats off to Wynken (respect!) - that is one hell of a post!

Littlefish - re accuracy of WW scales at different meetings, the leaders will tell you that they are uber accurate and frequently checked and re-calibrated. Sorry to hear you've been away from the family in not the best circumstances

Littlefish · 04/07/2011 19:52

Bollocks.

Just back from weigh in and I've put on a pound Sad.

That really is unfair. I've been so so good this week and have tracked everything. I haven't used any of my weekly points in an effort to get back on track after staying the same last week.

What on earth could have gone wrong? Can I cling to the vain hope that the scales at this class are slightly wrong compared with my normal class, even though they're both digital?

androbbob · 04/07/2011 20:36

Littlefish - I cant see how all digital scales can weigh the same. Its not practical! Anyway all this talk of them being checked and calibrated - I know a WW leader who mentioned this and they only have to be done once a year - so keep your motivation up and you will get a good result next week. If you honestly know you have been on plan and tracking correctly then it will all be ok!

HattiFattner · 04/07/2011 21:53

i only lost half a pound this week :( Bit disappointing, but hey, I shall persevere. Bad PMT too, so hopefully thats whats doing it - in which case in 2 weeks I shall have lost loads!

I think that knowing that I tracked everything and I had points spare at the end of the week means Im not too despondent about a measly loss. I am focussing on my LONG journey ahead.

read a great article while waiting for a new tyre on my car...some doctor having a go at us for assuming weight loss is easy. He/she was critical of how we say eg "the weight just fell off" - when actually it took hard work and dicipline....the point of the article was to say we have been lulled into this idea of easy losses, rather than hard work. Esp celebs who say they were just working really hard or were under a lot of stress and thats why they lost 2 stone.....tis a lot of old bs

also, great tip for the day....if you find you blow the whole pro points budget in the evenings by snacking, start counting from eg 4pm. Then if you blow all your points on a bad night, you can be frugal for breakfast and lunch the next day.

froot · 05/07/2011 06:57

Love that tip hatti !!

vnmum · 05/07/2011 08:11

great tip hatti
commiserations on little gain littlefish, i'm sure you'll lose it again by next week
well done on the loss hatti, it may be small but it is in the right direction

assumpta · 05/07/2011 12:16

Littlefish, I was also really disappointed this week, I lost a pound, but felt that I really should have lost more, I stepped back on the scales again, and it was a pound and a half off. Still less than I felt it should have been.

Do you know what the plan was called before pro points? Anyone? I have been told two different answers, but I want to compare my pro points points to the old system, but I have been doing WW on and off for years and am completely muddled on which plan to compare pro points to.

Thank you.

SpringFollows · 05/07/2011 14:39

Hi,
