Put half a pound on last night. grrr

Sorry havent had chance to namecheck.. but well done to everyone who has lost !

HeyH0 · 18/05/2011 19:37

Vnmum - Out of interest, how are you finding the oatbran pancakes? Filling? I keep meaning to make some, but never seem to get around to it. Hmm

JoJoBaldwin · 18/05/2011 20:16

Got some prawns in to try froot's linguine but forgot the sweet chilli philly, grrrr...

But made me remember another recipe that you girls might like - think I have got pointing right, let me know if not! Good for anyone wanting a healthy carbonara.

Pasta in creamy mushroom and leek sauce

The sauce:
150g mushrooms sliced
2-3 leeks sliced
half a red onion diced
200g extra light philly
veg stock (about a pint)

put all the veg in a big saucepan, add the stock, bring to boil then simmer for 20 mins or so to reduce and intensify the flavour.
Stir in the philly.

Makes easily enough for 4 for a total of 7pp (I included 1pp for stock) and trust me it's frickin lovely. Especially with some coarse ground black pepper sprinkled over.

Or split between two people and just have less pasta. With 50g of pasta and half the sauce it would be a really substantial meal for 8/9pp.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 18/05/2011 20:34

Hi 5 for the ww mini-quiche! carey will you be joining us in our mini-quiche this week?!

Just had 2nd day of the halloumi lentils aubergine bake. Yum yum yum. I added chilli flakes BTW, made it very frisky!

Meringue and raspberries for pud...

herdingcats · 18/05/2011 20:35

Back from WI lost 2lb this week ,so only another 2 and I'm at 10%.
It was a busy night, 1 gold emeber ,1 50lb award and 1 lady got a gold star for being at gold for a whole year .
She always reads out total weight loss for the class as well. Tonight was 58.5lbs!Shock
Feel more motivated again now ,and another small goal is becoming closer. Grin

IHeartIona · 18/05/2011 20:42

i have a tip for a low pointed easy food:
sainsbury's pork kebabs with peppers and barbecue drizzle - found these on the WW iphone app already - 1 kebab 2pp, but 2 kebabs for 3pp
I've just eaten all 4 from the pack Blush for 6pp with asparagus and broccoli/carrots - yum

herdingcats - great inch loss, well done. I haven't done any measurements yet, would be interesting to do some. thanks for posting your menu on the other thread, sounds lovely.
vnmum hope you are having plenty of fruit and veg too to fill you up
hmc well done on your 50lbs!
Carey well done on 5 lb loss, glad you made your leader laugh with your activity points method!
LittleFriend I did the aubergine/lentil curry, very tasty thanks.
Shoulders well done on your 50lbs too! that;s great that you are only 2.5 from goal
NoWay lovely dress for the wedding, your hair was great too
LoopyLa thanks Grin
mistlethrush well done on losing 4 lbs
JoJo pasta sauce sounds nice, will try next week

Any tips for an office day/night out and staying on track? We have a work training day in London, with pastries for breakfast, breaks, three courses for lunch, the works, followed by drinks reception and thai meal out with free-flowing booze. I will try to choose well for lunch/dinner, and look for fruit at breakfast/breaks. Should I take something to nibble on do you think?

IHeartIona · 18/05/2011 20:43

x-post - well done herdingcats

vnmum · 18/05/2011 20:45

well done herding and anyone ive missed. i'm on my kindle so can't fully namecheck.
I like the oatbran pancakes, i find it fills me up aslong as i drink water with it (helps it swell to fill stomach) and helps to keep me regular

IHeartIona · 18/05/2011 20:47

vnmum you can mumsnet on a kindle?? I have one, tell me how!! Grin

LolaLadybird · 18/05/2011 21:32

Way, way too much going on here to name check but just wanted to say well done to all the losers - especially the girls in the mini-quiche! Envy Smile

androbbob · 18/05/2011 21:54

Marking place for later.....

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 18/05/2011 23:02

herdingcats I will do my measurements tomorrow hopefully and will post them.

Well done to everyone who has weighed in today, there's been loads of great losses.

Iona they sound lovely, will look out for them!
wizzler sorry about 0.5lb gain, that's just a trip to the loo though! This time next week it'll be a loss!

hmc · 19/05/2011 00:09

Mouth watering at JoJo's pasta in creamy mustard and leek sauce....

Well done on 2lb lost Herding - you sound well motivated!

IHeartIona - I would be tempted to eat breakfast before the training day or smuggle own breakfast in if its all going to be Danish pastries...as for the three course lunch - I would just leave anything fattening on the side of my plate without passing comment; people won't notice if you don't draw attention to it. Hopefully there will be something in the meal you can pick at. Good luck with it - sounds like a dieters nightmare!

Well, at 3pm today my home scales said STS, so after I had collected children from school I did an 'emergency jog' of 3 miles on the treadmill (this was after a 2.5 mile run with the dogs through the woods this morning) and went nil by mouth - not even a sip of water, until weigh in tonight at 7pm, and managed to pull back a 1.5lb loss Smile.

Tried to set my goal weight at meeting since after checking with a BMI calculator I am only 6.5 lbs away from BMI 25 but apparently I have to lose another 1.5lb before I am allowed to set my goal weight! The leader's assistant said - "you can set it in another 1.5lb and incidentally for your height you could go down to 9 stone something (I forget how many lbs she said)" - I looked at her open mouthed and replied, "Well I could, but I would be in an eating disorders clinic"!!! I am 12 stone 2.5 atm, and a bmi of 25 would take me to 11 stone 10lbs...The 9 stone something she raised seemed a bit daft (am a bit old and plain for modelling!) Have posted a recent photo to my profile, perhaps I have reverse body dysmorphia and really could do with shifting more than planned but don't think another 2 stone + would be a good idea????

hmc · 19/05/2011 00:15

Am 5 feet 8.5 inches btw

HeyH0 · 19/05/2011 01:40

Hmc - I just took a look at your pic, you look great as you are. If you dropped to a BMI of 19-20, which is what she was suggesting, there'd be nothing of you! Shock

SpringFollows · 19/05/2011 06:52

Trying JoJOs creamy mushroom and leek pasta tonight. MMmmmm

CareyFakes · 19/05/2011 07:10

hmc you look great thus far, I too am 5ft 8inches and have set a goal of 11st 5lbs. I'm built like a brick shit house in terms of hands, feet, wrists so I know that naturally I would look very unhealthy at less than 10stone! I have no intention of reaching 10st but I want to be a healthy weight of 11st 5lbs.

I think 2.5st is a little excessive now that you are nearing BMI, I would stick to being within range and see how you feel from there.

What's this mini-quiche business?! I can't find it on here!

I went to the cinema with the man yesterday to watch my first love, Johnny Depp, prance about as a pirate, was delightful, and the man held my hand all the way through and is very understanding of my love of Johnny. I was good, had only a bottle of water, no popcorn or other junk, a) because of weight loss but b) because it's FUCKING expensive?!

Also, I weight less than my (I hate to say it) new boyfriend (CRINGE), which I've never done, never been lighter than a boyfriend/partner! He's taller though so better BMI Angry.

This week I'm tracking like a dog because of yesterday's stupidly massive weigh loss I am gripped by fear of putting some of it back on, so will have extra lashings of sex but ensure I actually eat between the sessions to ensure I am maintaing a healthy balance.

NoWayNoHow · 19/05/2011 07:50

Hey all

Just quickly popping in before taking DS to nursery to report 2.5lbs gain Sad Angry. Not in the slightest bit surprised considering the volume of food and drink we were fed by our hosts over the wedding weekend, coupled with what can only be described as frankly lax tracking since I got back. Back on the wagon today!

Will catch up and name check when i'm back in half and hour.

NoWayNoHow · 19/05/2011 08:42

Right, catch up!

gemmummy, mistlethrush and careyfakes those are amazing losses!! Very Envy.

herdingcats congrats on your 2lbs off and for posting measurements. I've just gained 2.5lbs on my goal weight, so once I'm back at goal, I'll take measurements and compare them with the ones I took when I started in Jan. Totally get your situation with DD - my niece is 7yo, and she is tall and built like her dad (a total beanpole) and she has horrible little shits children at her school calling her fat just to bully her, and she's now totally weight obsessed. Not great as her appetite wasn't all that to begin with.

vnmum sorry about asthma and homesickness Sad.

Congrats to all the 50lb losers - that is unbelievable, and so inspirational Smile

hmc welcome to the "why won't my weeklies help me anymore" club!! You look AMAZING in your photo, I genuinely can't believe that you're not already in the healthy BMI range? Confused. There's no ways I would class you as overweight based on that pic. As for the idiot woman at your meeting, she quite frankly doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. I think your 6.5lbs to goal is PLENTY to lose based on that photo.

haughty if it helps you, why don't you WI at home this week just so you feel like you've becnhmarked? You've only got 2.5lbs to get to a stone, so you're almost there!

littlefriend jealous of your taster menu - where did you go?

HeyHo - thanks!

FarFarAway welcome! A stone in 5/6 weeks is possibly a bit of a tough one, but not impossible. You'd have to be averaging over 2lbs a week, and if you're quite close to where you need to be, you might find that level of loss quite hard to sustain. However, give it a go! You never know, and even if you get to the end of June having lost a lb a week, that's still better than losing nothing!

loublou sorry to hear about your kak morning! Hopefully all the good karma you were due from the day came back to help out with dinner. How did it go?

JoJo that pasta sounds GOOD. DH is away Friday night, so I can make it for myself then (he loathes creamy sauces, which I suppose helps when you're on WW!)

IHeart don't be Blush about kebabs - if they're low pp, they're low pp! Eat 'em all up and enjoy! Thanks as well about dress and hair - hair was done by brides hairdresser as she'd hired her for the whole afternoon, so some of us ladies got to have ours done by her too. Re: work day out, there's not much you can do when food is provided other than to look at your plate, decide what's healthiest to eat on it, and try a bit of portion control too. FOr the Thai in the evening, try to stick to stuff like pad thai which is similar to chow mein. Nothing with coconut milk!! I would take fruit for breakfast, tbh, the pastries sound the most dangerous!

wizzler sorry about gain, but it's only 0.5lbs, hardly anything at all! Easy to pull back.

I haven't added a mini goal seeing as I hit goal last week, but I do want to stay at 9st 7lbs or 3/4lbs under without losing any more. Don't want to be above goal at all as I notice a MASSIVE difference, even from these couple of lbs I've just gained, in clothes comfort/belly size. 9st 7lbs really is my uppermost limit for maintenance (I'm only 5"4'), but I don't want to go anywhere near 9st as I look too skinny. I really don't have a very large margin for error here!!

SpringFollows · 19/05/2011 09:02

HMC, you really do not need to go down another 2 stone IMO. You look already extremely slim. I am a bit Hmm about that from the leader's assistant. Another 2 stone would make you look really gaunt.

HaughtyChuckle · 19/05/2011 09:04

well done hmc, herdingcats and mistlethrush

good stuff Carey lol

Morning all

got an big 80th this weekend and meeting for lunch later on arrgh points ahoy!

mistlethrush · 19/05/2011 09:50

HMC - I'm more or less the same height as you - and am aiming at BMI 25. I know that when I am at that weight I look slim, feel fine and don't look as though I need to lose weight (been there before....). If I was to weigh less than that people would start worrying about me! I know that I am fairly strong - and muscle weighs heavier than fat, so that doesn't help with the weight issue - but it does help with overall fitness and health. Oh - and I set my goal weight when I joined 4 weeks ago - and I do have a bit more than you to lose to get there!!!

vnmum · 19/05/2011 10:16

Well done hmc on the loss. You look fab in the photo and if you went down to what that woman suggested i think you would look ill. Bear in mind that you do a fair bit of exercise so you may weigh slightly heavier, therefore have a higher bmi, but with less body fat because of all the muscle you have from exercising. The lowest weight in my bmi range is 8st 2 or something like that (i'm 5ft 4) and if i got down to that i would look anorexic.

Sorry about the gainnoway, you will have that back off in no time. I'm the same height as you and although i set my goal with ww at bmi 25 i want to get down to 9st or 9st 7lb, although when i get to 9st 7 i will reassess as i can't remember the last time i was 9st, think i was 18, so it may be unrealistic at my age.

Well everyone, official WI day today, and..... desperate measures worked and i lost 1/2lb. I'm pleased seen as my sneak peak earlier in the week showed a 2 1/2lb gain, so now i can start eating my full 29pp a day,lol

Iona to mumsnet on your kindle, go to the home screen and press menu. go down to experimental near the bottom of list and press ok. find internet browser and press ok, it should bring up a likst of websites with amazon at the top. press menu again and select enter url. type in mumsnet address, and off you go. when the site has loaded there will be a square with a zoom symbol in it, press ok and it zooms into the page then you just use the arrow buttons to move around. it took me a few minutes to get to grip with but then was ok. you will probably have to sign in again though.
Are you on the kindle book swap thread? there are loads of book being swapped. If not drag yourself over there or let me know your email and i can send you some if you fancy what i've got

hmc · 19/05/2011 11:12

Thanks ladies - I appreciate the reassurance (and the compliments), I was starting to doubt myself after the leader's assistant's comment! - but you've confirmed for me that I am right to go with what feels appropriate and settle for 11 stone something (probably around 11 stone 7/8). Careyflakes - I am also built like a brick shit house Grin - come from good peasant stock (North Yorkshire farmers) and there is nothing dainty about my frame! Isn't it interesting Mistlethrush that they let you set your goal weight and yet I've been told I have to lose another 1.5lb first - must be my leader's specific policy!

Well done on the 0.5lb Vnmum it looks like your low point couple of days pulled you back from the cake-gate incident Smile. Hopefully NoWay you can shift your 2.5lb 'wedding gain' in a week - it's a pain, but at least you know why it went on.

What was the new Pirates film like Carey worth seeing?

Enjoy your lunch Haughty - and be good

gemmummy · 19/05/2011 11:40

Hello all, Can anyone help me with some nice low point lunch ideas? I'm getting so bored with tuna salad!!!
