You lot! Over 'ere! Sorry for taking liberties with the previous thread: I am no good with suspense, and it was like looking at a gigantic throbbing pustulating boil and not being able to squeeze it

Hello all

Sorry for quiet past few days - I have no excuses though.

I appear to have lost 3lb this week. Not exactly sure how as past couple of days in particular have been trying and I've ended up snacking. However, this loss may be an artefact of having bitten the bullet and bought my own bathroom scales (Maybe I have finally grown up?) However, I will take it and promise only to weigh myself on these ones from now.

Am shuddering at all the dentist talk - mainly because I know I really have to go, having not been for years for various reasons, but I am so ashamed of my mouth I can't pluck up the courage. Vicious circle anyone?

Interesting article Alps (am trying not to go and eat a packet of shortbread in despair now). Hope the band procedure went well and you're feeling OK.

Muser · 25/05/2011 18:34

Evening all. Congrats on the weight loss and good luck with the band tightening Alps.

So, first day today. And my starting weight is 14st 7lbs. I'd like to claim that's all baby weight. But mostly it was there before. Bit of a rubbish first day. Breakfast ended up being a latte (HEA) as I ran out of time. Then out for lunch and faced with limited cash and choice. I went for split pea soup and a piece of granary bread. Wishing I'd gone to m&s and got a salad. Ah well. Had delayed breakfast on arriving home (muesli, yogurt, HEs). Dinner will be chicken topped with low fat mozzarella and wrapped in bacon, with roast veg. Cherries and strawberries for pud.

Tomorrow I will endeavour to eat meals at the right time and have a better lunch.

AlpinePony · 25/05/2011 18:50

hello everyone. :) Well it was all painless (badoom-tish) enough - the 450km drive was the worst. I was really upset about it all driving up but by the time I got to the clinic I was actually feeling really positive and determined to get my body back. I was a trifle annoyed though when asked if I exercised & ate fruit & veg. :( Same old, same old eh? If you're more than 10 stone then you must be a sofa-bound lard-eater. :( So it's soup today, tomorrow night I'm allowed yoghurt and then food re-introduction. Am going to buy cream cheese & caviar.

mandalee · 25/05/2011 18:56

Bloof - 500g is about a pound - wellll, a little under if I'm honest. Comes off slow on this ol' bod.

But yes, down is down is down, and my jeans are fitting better. Wink

Glad to hear you're feeling OK, Pony! Have been thinking of you today.

Onlyaphase · 25/05/2011 21:03

Drum roll please.....

Weblette has lost 4lb this week, total of 11lb now I think. Congratulations (said with all sincerity through painfully gritted teeth)

Hedgepig has lost 3lb , taking her to a total of 2 stone off her starting weight of 14 st 11lb. You are my own personal goddess BTW.
Duckymum has also lost 3lb, a total of 6lb in total toward her 30lb target

Cr4o has lost 2.5 lb in two weeks, and has now lost 9.5lb from a start weight of 181 lb, toward a target of 27lb loss

Cheese has lost 1.5lb this week, a total loss of 7lb and halfway toward her target of 1st off.
Bloofer has lost 1.5 lb this week too, start weight of 15st 10 now 15 st 5
Obrigada has lost 1.5 this week as well, down to 12 st 5 from 12st 7lb start weight

Mandalee has lost 500g, total loss of 3kg now
Onlyaphase has lost 1lb this week, total loss of 6lb from a start weight of 14 st 13lb.

Stinkypinky has stayed the same this week

Pony I've left you off this list, as I think your day hasn't been that great anyway. Will add you in later if you like or start afresh next week? Whatever suits.

As always. apologies for any errors, missing bodies etc.

stinkypinky · 25/05/2011 21:04

Stayed the same, and tbh do not really deserve that - should have gained really. Very stressful week, and I have really not wanted to be on the plan. Haven't gone crazy, but could not say I have followed the plan.

On reflection it all went pear shaped when I went shopping for a dress for a wedding in 4 weeks time - I was feeling really positive, and bought a size 18 Per Una skirt (charity shop gem) I have another Per Una skirt in that size that fits ok, so thought this would too. I looked like a sausage with a muffin top, and was so very upset - I have lost nearly 2 stone, and thought I would look better than I did.

Work is shit too (horrid child protection stuff, haunting me a bit) , my own baby has been sick, I got a new car yesterday that is terrifying me (I know, should be a good thing) and I have been so very anxious since I got it - to the point of physically shaking. I used to drive a Volvo estate, so why is a VW Touran feeling like a double decker bus? It is probably a mix of a few things, but I need to get my act together soon.

(I am off to bed actually, so do not worry about me if I do not respond to spanking tonight...)

Well done everyone else btw.

Onlyaphase · 25/05/2011 21:20

Do you sit higher up in the Touran Stinky? That can make it seem like you are driving a tank until you get used to it, and then you won't ever go back again to sitting low in a car. And sorry your baby was sick too.

Wedding clothes shopping is a nightmare at the best of times. Sorry you had a crappy time. I fell in love with a tomato red linen shift in M&S a couple of weeks ago, found the size 18 was far too tight and in fact overall, I resembled a post box with a flushed face. I wiped the incident from my mind until now, and only drag it out to make you feel better.

Onwards and upwards, a new week beckons.

MadameBoo · 25/05/2011 22:28

Ah bugger - missed the list - and I lost 1lb dammit!

Congrats to you all - everyone's doign so bloomin' well.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 26/05/2011 07:00

Thanks only for the list.

Well done everyone, we're all doing well

stink sounds like you've had a shocking week. Ah well, dust yerself down etc etc. Hope work improves.

hedgepig bloody hell I'm impressed with your weight loss. Inspirational. Any top tips?

Cheesy double thumbs up to weblette fab result.

Had a good moan about weight to my mum last night. Then she pointed out I had lost 1/2stome in 3 weeks while almost singlehandedly caring for a 12week old so not to be hard on myself. And she's prob right so this week I'm going to try to Think More Positively! Hmmm.

Right today's exercise pilates and swimming
food:
breakfast : Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs courtousy of mother! Bead (heb)
L: salad up at the gym
d: Sw lamb dhansak and rice
hea - milk. Fruit and yog to snack on.
Syns - gin tonight (again my mum is here so I'll be driven to the bottle)

AlpinePony · 26/05/2011 07:09

onlyaphase Thank you for posting the list, I will continue with where I've been so will update you with stats next week if that's OK. Thankfully I'm now down 3lb of that erroneous 4lb+.

I will not post my diet today because it's somewhat reminiscent of the cabbage soup/Cambridge and will make nobody salivate. Wink

hedgepig You're doing bloody brilliantly - you'll be in size 6 Versace in no time! Grin

I am looking forward to getting back in to my "sexy" wardrobe as opposed to my frumpy mummy shit. I am looking forward to being able to wear a suit to work rather than having to suck my "shit" in and still bursting out and afraid to sit down/stand up in case someone sees the sheer size of me.

stinky I agree with only, when the driving seat is high it does make you feel like you're driving a lorry. We moved house in Feb and I hired a transit and was absolutely cacking myself (underground parking so low we made it with literally an inch to spare!) - but in the past have driven "proper" lorries - where the fuck has my driving confidence gone? I "need" a big Volvo/4WD (for pulling a horse trailer) but can see myself buying a fucking Fiat 500! Wink

AlpinePony · 26/05/2011 07:11

I am able to work from home but have been avoiding the office because I feel so "massive". :( I know we're supposed to be in an enlightened age, but I honestly feel my size/weight is hampering my promotion possibilities.

c4ro I was up by your old neighbourhood yesterday by the "relax" bridges. I was "grrrrrrr" because of that 5 lane each side motorway where the speed limit is 100 yet because there are so few cars only 3 lanes are used. Wtf?

AlpinePony · 26/05/2011 07:11

Oh dear, am cluster-posting - c4ro - does your colleague get 220 a week for doing the diet? If yes, get on it!

BlooferLady · 26/05/2011 08:32

Thanks for listing Only! Dammit but I'm a slow-goer Hmm. Am bloody well going to see the top of that list if it kills me

well done indeed Weblette, storming loss! And Hedge - well...what can I say: you're a proppa hero.

In all seriousness, I would love to hear how you guys are doing it. What you're eating, what exercise you're doing, all that - spill the beans and share your wisdom!

Stinky dear, it sounds as if you're having a really tough time, under which circumstances bloody well done on staying the same. I don't drive so think being in charge of a steel deathtrap looks terrifying anyway, so all my sympathies luvva. I wholeheartedly understand the clothes thing. I have been feeling really good because some things are fitting better ... but lots of others are still terrible. I tried to go to work (I had a big meeting yesterday) in a tailored skirt and a chiffon leopard-print blouse [Bet Lynch emoticon] and it looked ghastly. Just ghastly. Ended up in head to toe blacK AS PER USUAL and then turned my ankle because I'm too heavy and ungainly for heels Sad. BUT! We are ALL declining, however slowly or however quickly. Next week that blouse is my bitch.

Pony so glad the band stuff wasn't too horrid. And I hope you manage to get lovely stuff down you so you don't suffer for it. Good luck!

Well now. last night I had lots to celebrate and also tend to let go on the night of weigh-day, so I ate and drank like a Roman Emperor Grin. Back on the Paths of Righteousness today though. I shall be having a Green Day:

B - yogurt, blueberries
L - veggie noodle stir-fry, oranges
D - spanish omelette (HEB for 1 tbsp olive oil), roast peppers, tomato and feta salad (HEA) , fruit salad

I think I'll have tahini dip (HEB) and veggie sticks as a snack somewhere along the line.

TRYING for a syn free day!

OP posts:
obrigada · 26/05/2011 09:30

Was like a bold child yesterday and had a take-away which probably resulted in me putting back on the 2lbs I lost:( Anyway onwards and upwards as they say Hmm
Going to do it by the book this week, write down everything I eat and not have too much 'unlimited free food' and count my syns. Am going to be brutally honest with myself!
As Bloofer says please share your secrets of losing weight with the rest of us :)

BlooferLady · 26/05/2011 10:03

Ob in the spirit of honesty, let me tell you that yesterday I cooked chicken in a mushroom, tarragon, vermouth and CREAM sauce, potatoes roasted in GOOSE FAT, and BUTTERED peas, followed by HONEY ROAST PEACHES. Preceded by a gin martini and accompanied by the best part of a bottle of pinot grigio Grin .

I have done this (not exactly that menu obviously) every week - a weigh-day relaxation so to speak - and I've still lost the last 3 weeks. I reckon it would speed up my loss by maybe 0.5lb-1lb a week if I didn't do it but it seems to be good for my mental health. If on a Sunday for instance I'm depressed because I can't have 'norty' food - well, it's only a couple of days until the Day of Doom and a treat, and even I can hold on that long.

I will be intrigued to know if our stars Hedge and Web do this, or something similar (erm, am guessing prolly not Grin )

OP posts:
obrigada · 26/05/2011 10:08

Come on Hedge and Web spill .... :)

Onlyaphase · 26/05/2011 11:23

OMG Bloofer that meal sounds delicious. To be strictly honest, my poor tooth feels better now and so I celebrated by having a big piece of home made bread for breakfast, all chewy and yum. Lightly toasted, with butter and marmite. Home made soup for lunch though, all full of veg and lentils.

I had a gardening morning planned, but have been foiled by rain. I'd already hung the washing out but can't be arsed to get it in again, so am hoping for a spot of wind later on to re-dry it. Sweetcorn and runner beans are planted out now, will wait to do the french beans and peas later. I'd grown them all from seed in my greenhouse (now mended) as anything grown from seed in the garden gets eaten by pigeons. Bastards. Useless cats don't seem to scare them off either. Traitors.

Right, off to walk the labradors and pick up DD.

mandalee · 26/05/2011 12:45

Oh. My. Deity. Bloof, you should be jailed for describing that dinner on this forum! And drool is REALLY bad for my keyboard.

BTW, I just read somewhere that according to one study, writing down EVERYTHING you eat (even if it's just for yourself) increases weight loss by something like 50%. Guess being conscious about what we stuff put in our mouths is a really powerful thing!

Congrats to all the losers, and a dash of knowing I've-been-thereness to my fellow slowpokes. Grin At least we're still mostly smiling!

obrigada · 26/05/2011 12:51

Wow Mandalee, if writing down what you eat can increase weight loss by 50%, then I will definitely make sure to do that:)

mandalee · 26/05/2011 13:24

Well, ob, it was only one study... on the other hand, it seems to make sense, and it sure can't hurt!

I find anything that makes me THINK before snacking is very effective. Sometimes that's all it takes... that, and reminding yourself that you're doing this for YOU, because you want to.

Wink
AlpinePony · 26/05/2011 13:51

I've just had my organic boxes delivered and have made thai prawn soup (yep, prawn mad me Hmm) - delicious.

bloofer That meal sounds absolutely deliciously wicked.

obrigada · 26/05/2011 14:10

So true Mandalee, it can't hurt:)

BlooferLady · 26/05/2011 15:58

It was rather luffly Grin

The memory of it should see me through the week...

Er, except I haven't been as virtuous as I'd intended, and thus must amend my food for the day in the spirit of Openness and Honesty and all that Bollox, 'cos I have just had a tahini related accident. Really, i don't think I should have tahini in the house. I can merrily eat SPOONSFUL of the stuff Confused. Anyway owing to its unbelievable deliciousness I now can't have 1 tbsp olive oil as a HEB so I can't have what I'd planned for dinner.

B - yogurt, blueberries
L - noodles (1tsp sesame oil -2 syns)
SNACK (whoopsie) - 2 slices of weeny toast (HEB) and 2 dsp tahini (HEB)
D - wholewheat pasta with roasted peppers and tomatoes & feta (HEA) and a green salad, and fruit salad and yogurt after.

I also think I have eaten an additional tbsp of tahini just because I felt like it (4.5), and I had a cocktail sausage (2). So that's 10.5 syns.

That just goes to show it's worth writing everything down - if I hadn't I'd not have counted those syns and probably eaten double my allowance by the end of the day. So thanks Mandalee :)

mandalee · 26/05/2011 17:46

See? It works! she says, having not done it herself and... oops, got to go check those ahem muffins in the oven...

Well, what's a girl to do when it's raining and miserable outside and she has a cranky sick 7-year-old on her hands? Hmm

mandalee · 26/05/2011 17:47

BTW, I promise promise to eat only one, and send what's left to the office with my husband tomorrow. So there. Wink
