Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Karma have you seen the couch to 5k stuff? Its basically some podcasts that you can download onto your mp3 player/ipod which will couch you into being able to run 5k over a few weeks.
If not, then have a look at the Bupa website here
www.bupa.co.uk/running/training/training-programmes/

Dinky strawberry picking in the rain sounds like loads of fun! Did you get much?

We're having an Xbox day today as the weather has been miserable all day. We've got the connect and its been lots of fun. Beats sitting on the sofa with controllers Grin
I've also got loads of cleaning done.! Hooray. My house is tidy. I feel my house has to be very tidy if we're going to spend all day at home. It just makes it nicer to stay in I guess
[disclaimer I'm not a total slattern living in a pigsty or anything but with working part time and 2 young kids, its not always very tidy]

knottyhair · 12/06/2011 17:06

Oh blimey Shaxx, I don't work and have one child, and my house is usually a tip! I blame it on the house being half done so we're constantly having to live in different rooms depending on what DP is doing. It's tomorrow we're off to London BTW but thanks for all the good wishes! We've had a similar day here, DVD and a bit of baking (honey wholemeal cake - I had a tiny bit).

OP posts:
Shaxx · 12/06/2011 17:11

mmm honey wholemeal cake sounds divine and er very, very healthy!
I'll have a nice big slice with a cup of tea thanks Grin

knottyhair · 12/06/2011 17:21

Passing it over now Shaxx Smile! It's from River Cottage Every Day and is lush! I've tried to work out the calories and a small slice is about 280 calories. DP and DS will have more for pudding tonight with custard Envy.

dinky, I think compulsory school sports ruined exercise for me too

shaxx, thanks for the link. Will take a look. I know I have to do something, if only to burn off the chocolate I keep eating Smile

dinkystinky · 12/06/2011 18:22

Shaxx - we got 3 punnets of strawberries (as did my friend!) and a punnet of raspberries. DS2 (who is 2) is a natural at strawberry picking - and eating!

Knotty - am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is better for you tomorrow.

knottyhair · 12/06/2011 18:32

Thanks Dinky Smile!

knotty That sounds like a great day you've planned for your DH! Have fun. My DH is 50 in October and I'm trying to sort out a few days away... Don't think it'll be as swish as your Monday though! Also, honey wholemeal cake sounds lovely... And 280 calories is only a few more than an avocado, really...
karma I, too, am a hater of exercise. I really do hate it. I'd go swimming if I didn't have to do my bikini line, dry off in manky changing rooms etc etc. I really should try running.
dinky Mmmm fruit picking. I haven't done that in years! Did you eat loads os you picked?
Shaxx Am impressed with your cleaning. Very impressed. I am such a slattern, the house gets really horrid before I get down to cleaning it properly. In fact, I reckon that I wouldn't need to exercise if I looked after the house and garden properly. You've given me an idea- We have a huge, overgrown garden which would keep me fit, I'm sure...

Last night, I had a piece of bread and peanut butter, and a custard donut. :( I am really disappointed in myself BUT have been extra good today, and shall behave impeccably for the rest of the week
I decided to invent my own beany ball thing to go with salad for tea. Basically, they were soya beans and black-eyed beans(mashed), chopped onion, peppers, loads of spices, and some bulghur wheat, mixed up and formed into balls, then baked. They were horrible. I have christened them Vomballs (trademark pending).

Ham salad with bulghur wheat
A few grapes, a handful of mixed dried fruit and nuts
Vomballs with salad

dinkystinky · 13/06/2011 15:37

Lol at the vom balls Belleend - hope your food today has been nicer!

Its very quiet on here today - hope everyone is ok and Knotty has a fab day out today.

Shaxx · 13/06/2011 19:16

I feel like I've eaten vomballs. Had a bit of a pigout session yesterday (darned talk of yummy cake tipped me over) and I tried to undo the damage today by having only a veg soup for lunch, ended up feeling light headed and sick this afternoon. I had to buy some choc on the way home and dh had kindly prepared dinner - tesco fresh cheesy tortollini things with pesto with a side of cheese and onion quiche Hmm
Anyway I ate it. Feel bleurgh.

Knotty hope you and your family had a great day out!

BelleEnd · 13/06/2011 19:44

Mmmmmm Shaxx cheesy tortellini... Sound yum. Just put it in a box and start afresh tomorrow.

Knotty I hope you are eating lovely things as I type. :)

dinky I have that unfortunate thing of hating to see food going to waste... Hating it so much, in fact, that I ate the rest of the vomballs. I found that, with pickle, they were okay. (Okay=minging. Pickled covered the taste!)

Vomball salad
1 orange, a few handfuls of dried fruit and nuts, a breadstick
Vomball salad and a small piece of omlette
Some grapes.

Wasn't planning on having so much dried fruit and nuts, nor the breadstick, but I let myself go too long after lunch (I was painting a wall in the living room!) and by the time I got to the kitchen I was starving. Not bad, though.
Am going to allow myself a takeaway at the weekend if I keep this up all week.

knottyhair · 14/06/2011 09:56

Morning! We had a fab day yesterday thanks! The weather was great in London and the Thames RIB trip was amazing! DP loved it, DS started saying "it's not fun anymore!" got a bit worried when the boat did a u-turn at VERY high speed, but he loved it otherwise. Great feeling zooming past the Houses of Parliament with the James Bond theme blasting out! Had a lovely meal in Chinatown but I did eat my weight in barbecued pork belly Blush. Back to it today though. Have done 6W6P this morning, minestrone for lunch and not sure about tea yet, got to go shopping but something virtuous! BelleEnd, glad you finished off your vomballs Grin. Have a good day everyone! xx

Had a megabiff last night (feeling ill and sorry for myself) but back into the zone with me today - done circuits this morning and have pilates lined up at lunch time. Glad you had a fab day yesterday Knotty. Could I ask a favour - can you pm me details of where you found the Thames RIB trip? I have our wedding anniversary coming up at end of the month (well we had two weddings so one at the end of june and one in mid July) and am scratching my head to think of a cool anniversary gift for DH - sounds like that might be perfect!

knottyhair · 14/06/2011 11:01

Dinky, it's all on their website here We did the Thames Barrier Experience, highly recommended because they really let rip between Greenwich & the Barrier! Hope you're feeling better today x

Looks great - thanks Knotty. Was just feeling coldy and depressed last night - feel better this morning though thanks.

BelleEnd · 14/06/2011 13:35

Personal question: Since I started losing weight, my (usually regular as clockwork) periods have been really irregular and weird. I have always had a 28-day-cycle but a few months ago (first month of healthy eating) I spotted instead of bleeding, and now I am on day 39, had PMT before day 28, but no bleeding. Anyone else have this? (Am not pg!)

knottyhair · 14/06/2011 14:22

Hi BelleEnd. Do you know, I've never thought about in connection with weight loss but my cycle is certainly all over the place in recent months, but I think it's probably my age! Apparently I'm "peri-menopausal" at 43 which is nice Smile. But perhaps that's incorrect and it's my weight loss instead! Yeah, I'll go with that.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 14/06/2011 14:42

BelleEnd - depends on your age as, as knotty says, could be the peri-menopause. In my late teens I lost alot of weight (think borderline eating disorder) and my periods started doing that (even though I was only at the bottom end of healthy BMI range for my height) As soon as I got back to a normal weight they went back to normal within 4 or 5 months. I'd have expected your periods to be irregular while losing weight drastically as you did but to start returning to normal within 4 to 5 months.

BelleEnd · 14/06/2011 17:05

Thanks! I don't think I could be peri-menopausal- I'm only 28- And think it's probably more to do with my recent drastic diet. It's just so weird that I'm still getting the PMT and crazy hunger around 28 days, but I think that may be more to do with my brain thinking I'm about to come on.

BelleEnd · 14/06/2011 20:18

I've been good again today, though I have snacked a little more than necessary. And a day without vomballs is always a good day. :o

Quorn sausage salad with 1 piece of wholemeal toast and marmite
Too many raisins, a few nuts and an orange
Quorn sausage salad, with one pork sausage also, and a slice of gorgeous oaty rosemary bread that I baked this afternoon.
A few grapes.

I went for a lovely walk this afternoon, and did some heavy gardening with DS1 this evening. I had a truly lovely day, because I was asked by a very dear friend to be her daughter's godmother! I am really touched. :)

Hope you're all doing well x

Shaxx · 14/06/2011 21:03

Knotty glad you had a good day. Speed boat sounds like loads of fun. I'll have to look into it myself.

BelleEnd congrats on your appointment of godmother! I'm not surprised your touched by that Smile

I've had a good day today too. Am trying to keep it like that and stay away from chocolate....

porridge
pepper and tomato soup, yoghurt
salmon, new pots, runner beans

30 min run Grin

dinkystinky · 15/06/2011 09:01

Ah, Belleend - lovely about being asked to be godmother. Congratulations.

Shaxx - sounds like you're in the zone.

iluvcake · 15/06/2011 09:22

Hello everyoneSmile.

Sorry, am being really crap at keeping up with this thread.

I seem to have a lot going on at the moment. DS recently changed schools and I want to stay in touch with all my lovely friends at his old school but I'm also trying to get to know people at the new school. So, as well as everything else going on in everyday life, I'm sort of juggling two sets of school mums and DS' friends.

I'm 9st 10 at the moment. Would like to lose half a stone for Aug. Should be do-able but I'm biffing for England since coming back from holiday. Need to get back in the mind-set again! I'm back at bootcamp on Friday mornings but my hip is bothering me again. Not as bad as before, but there is something not rightSad.

Bellend, Congrats on being asked to be a godmother! I have two god-daughters and I love them to bits.

Shaxx · 15/06/2011 09:39

iluvcake how old is your youngest child? I only ask because I had hip problems too whenever I exercised and was told it was a pregnancy/labour thing. My youngest is 3 now and I have no problems with it.

I was starving this morning so have had 2 slices of wholemeal toast with butter and marmite and a low fat yoghurt. Lunch will be sushi and I'm not sure about what to do for dinner. I really should meal plan!

I think I'll do something with mince for the family and have chickpea curry with rice for myself.

knottyhair · 15/06/2011 10:11

Morning! BelleEnd, I've stopped sobbing now at the realisation that I was getting ready to do my O-levels when you were born. And congrats on being a godmother! Like iluv, I've 2 god-daughters as well, one aged 4 and one who is 22 today. Shaxx, I love a chickpea curry! iluv, good luck with reaching your August target! We go to Germany/Austria on 19th August and I'd like to lose my last 8lbs by then. Sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment, hope your DS is settling in OK. Sorry your hip is giving you gip (I'm a poet and I don't know it Grin ).
Did 4 circuits of NMTZ with 3 cardio circuits inbetween and I'm dripping with sweat - how attractive. Got to make DP's birthday cake this morning whilst he's out, for DS to decorate after school. Going to have soup for lunch, and I'm doing steak for tea (DP's favourite) so I'll have a small portion. Trying to work out if I can have a small piece of cake but it's chocolate fudge cake so I'm not sure.... I wouldn't worry about it normally, but had a "day off" on Monday, and I'm doing another cake for Saturday to celebrate with DP's family so I've got to be a bit careful. Can everyone please STOP HAVING BIRTHDAYS! Grin.
