grr missed my weigh in yesterday will have to wait :(

HaughtyChuckle · 17/05/2011 13:28

can someone explain activity points to me, I havent had them explained to me

HaughtyChuckle · 17/05/2011 13:28

good luck with the exam carey :)

LolaLadybird · 17/05/2011 14:15

Tiredemma - good luck with the WI, I'm sure you'll be fine

Androbob - poor DS, hope he gets over it quickly and without too much grief. How old is he? DS had the pox earlier this year and DD a few years ago so nice to have ticked that box. Eurax cream was v good as well as the all the usual remedies. With DS, he spent ages playing in a bicarb bath (every morning and evening) as he seemed to be most comfortable there and I could potter round/read a magazine within close range.

Mistle - give zumba a try, my local class attracts all ages, sizes and levels of fitness. The main thing it it's fun and if you're feeling a bit puffed you can just take it a bit slower/lower impact.

JoJo - the problem with your DH sounds tricky and hugely frustrating to feel you're not being heard. I agree with what someone else said about sitting and having proper chat at a good time rather than the mini nags. Really try and stress how much you love him and therefore want to ensure he's around and in good health for as long as possible. Good luck.

Haughty - do you use e-source, if so the activity points are v easy to work out? If not, you should have a little leaflet in your joining pack. Basically, all activity has a points value which you can use to supplement your daily and weekly points to offset against foods. I find it really helps and, unsurprisingly, the weight comes off quicker on a week I've done lots of activity. 'Tis a v good motivation to get moving!

HighHeidYin · 17/05/2011 14:46

Afternoon all.

blondes am seriously addicted to zumba! Absolutely LOVE it and would go every day for my fix if I could! mistlethrush you really MUST go! Going to attempt a spin class tonight (gulp)

Well done spring and lou

jojo it's a worry isn't it when our OHs don't take care of their health. dh is much the same - no exercise, has put on a LOT of weight this last year and is drinking too much. Am trying to encourage him to take out a gym membership too but he is moaning at the price Sad He is 47 and really needs to sort himself out before he does some serious damage.

Hope you can talk some sense into him. Good advice on here.

Thanks hmc and noway Have good news finally! Dad has had a stent fitted to open up his digestive tubes and can now drink! They have taken him off the drip and he will be eating today - first time in 4 weeks. His chest infection has cleared too so he is no longer constantly coughing up phlegm (ugh) which was stopping him from sleeping. So he has finally slept like a log for a day and a night! Once he is eating properly he will be sent home and when he is strong enough they will start chemo. So things looking up at last.

Well done carey on the exam!

androb commiserations on the dreaded pox. Hope he is over it soon - they are so miserable when they are itchy.

benbon · 17/05/2011 14:53

well chuffed... lost 2lbs this week.. even after the binge on vodka on sat night!!!! the numbers on the scales are looking so much better now lol...

vnmum · 17/05/2011 16:05

well done benbon
jimble the totm thing is usually water retention due to hormone changes, very common apparently

I did a sneak peak this am and am 2.5lb gain!Shock It is TOTM and i know i ate a few too many cakes but wasn't expecting that much. Drastic measures need to be taken i think if i'm going to even have a STS on thursday. It's not helping that i am feeling drained and pretty down with constantly being ill and want to just eat comfort food but so far i am resisting (helped by the fact i need to do food shop but haven't been bothered, so not much in the house)

sorry for the moan

JoJoBaldwin · 17/05/2011 16:24

Well done benbon!!!
vnmum you can do it hon, drink lots of water etc. But don't be too down on yourelf if feeling ill, it's not like you can exercise madly if you are feeling rubbish.
HHY so glad to hear good news of your dad, must be such a relief for you to know he is a bit more comfortable at the moment. Sorry to hear your Oh is similar to mine. Men!

We had a couple of emails and I apologised for being harsh and explained I just wanted us all to have a happy healthy life and love him. To which he responded "are you saying we should switch from vodka to red wine?" Cheeky git. So he does understand, and is in agreement. Just can't be arsed actually implementing the changes. We'll have proper talk tonight I guess.

On the upside I won a night away in a posh hotel today. Yippee! I enter competitions for a hobby so occasionally get a nice email or parcel with some prize or other.

And just had my first taste of sweet chilli philly, oh my god it's lush.

HaughtyChuckle · 17/05/2011 16:25

I'll have a look at the e-source I just can afford to pay for it

IHeartIona · 17/05/2011 16:38

thread getting full again I see! Wink

IHeartIona · 17/05/2011 16:43

HHY glad to hear your dad will be able to eat again, sorry to hear they diagnosed a tumour, but it is good that they can do chemo and it's slow-growing.
JoJo - well done on winning night away - sounds lovely!
NoWay - I didn't get round to saying WELL DONE at getting to goal! I think we share same goal weight as well :-)

well done to all other losers too!

NoWayNoHow · 17/05/2011 16:57

tiredemma good luck with WI tonight - I know that my day/evening difference is normally a couple of lbs, so don't get too disheartened.

pinkglow thanks for posting such a detailed recipe, I'm definitely going to be trying that this weekend!

androbob oh no! The dreaded pox!! DS had it a year ago, thankfully wasn't too ill with it, but good grief were the pair of us bored being stuck indoors all day! The golden rule is that he'll be contagious until the blisters have burst and the spots have crusted over, but IME this normally takes a week to 10 days, so I doubt he'll be able to go to the party on Saturday Sad

JoJo I hope that the email means that OH takes on board your concerns - by the sounds of it you've got every reason to be worried about his health. And well done on competition win!

CareyFakes I've clearly missed loads in your life since Thurs!! Didn't know about the examm, but well done for passing it! What man? Coffee date man?? And good luck for WI tomorrow.

vnmum aw shucks, thanks! And don't feel down about the really terribly naughty sneak peak WI. You're at the worst time of the week when your body is reflecting the cakes, but hasn't had a chance to reflect the good you're doing now. TOTM is a whole 2 lbs for me too - so don't give up! Stick to doing well, and I'm sure Thurs WI will be better than today's.

littlefish you've done so well so far - 3.5st is amazing, and you sound so committed and determined. I guess when you've seen how well the plan works for you, then you really can look at that light at the end of the dieting tunnel and believe you'll get there.

mistlethrush that sounds like a really good list. You're absolutely spot on about some foods just being better than others even if the points value is the same. I never would have guessed that about Bran Flakes though!

jimble hello! You are not alone in the TOTM weight gain club. I lost 2.5lbs overnight just by going from a day when I was on, to the day after. I retain water like a crazy thing though, and this is what adds the lbs on. Unfortunately, I can also see it and feel it - jeans that fit fine when I go to bed one day won't do up when I wake up the next morning with AF visiting.

loublou how about an asparagus, feta and mint starter (4PP) for in-laws (see my recipe farther up thread), followed by chicken breast wrapped in parma ham served with butternut, shallots and cherry tomatoes (6PP)? You can then do meringue nests with WW cream/low-fat Greek yogurt and berries for dessert?

herding that's a great swimming result! Don't forget, it's not all about lbs, but inches too! So many of you unlike lazy arse me are doing so much exercise, it would be really interesting to see if you've all noticed a big difference in inches/cms lost.

haughty someone's probably already answered, but your activity points can either be used on a daily basis (where they get used up before your weekly 49 do) or on a weekly basis (where they get dipped into once you've finished your 49). Personally, I've always preferred to track the daily as I would feel weird using up 5 activity points on a Saturday that I earned 4 days previously. Kind of feel like you need to use them on the day if your body is actually going to benefit, IYSWIM.

HHY so pleased that you have some good news at last. At least everything is moving in the right direction now.

benbon well done on loss, Envy that it came after vodka binge though!!

Phew, shattered after that mammoth post!!

NoWayNoHow · 17/05/2011 17:12

x-post IHeart thank you for the congrats! I'm sure I'm not at goal any more after a particularly decadent weekend, but hopefully I shold be able to get back there next week!

bridgeandbow · 17/05/2011 17:41

Hello fellow pro-pointers - get yourselves to M&S - great discovery!

M&S Chargrilled Calamari Rings with red pepper dressing. Can eat straight from packet or blast in micro for a few sec. Only 3 pp for the whole 115g packet and they are DELICIOUS!! Normally £2.99 a packet so a bit steep - on offer at the moment 3 for £5 - bargain and they have a good life to them (ones I got today were bb 23rd May. Just scoffed half a packet as a snack.

M&S also have 4 trout fillets for £5 which is pretty good too I think.

Special occassion tonight so pushing the boat out and got myself a count on us Paella 400cal so prob about 10 points - still to work that one out...

May be going in more often now.

vnmum · 17/05/2011 17:45

mistle where did you get that list from, it sounds very useful indeed?

NoWayNoHow · 17/05/2011 17:46

bridge dammit! I walked past M&S today and normally have a sneak peak at offers, but didn't have time. I LOVE calamari too Angry

Going to have to stock up on that tomorrow methinks!

herdingcats · 17/05/2011 19:39

Blondes- you said your weight is not changing atm ,but you are shrinking in size. Tell me if you think I'm wrong ,but could you be a bit dehydrated, so hanging on to any fluid you do have instead of flushing your system through. I do hope that makes senseSmile. If not feel free to ignore Grin
jojo- my xh was a very heavy drinker, but funnily enough was not over weight. I have not seen him for 8years ,except one photo and it seems like it has caught up with him.I hope your DH realises soon, and sees it shows how much you care .

vnmum · 17/05/2011 19:42

Littlefish · 17/05/2011 20:25

Littlefish · 17/05/2011 20:36

My group leader didn't have any certificates with her this week, so I'm going to get it next week.

IHeartIona · 17/05/2011 20:56
