Busty Babe With GSOH Seeks SW Partner for Weigh-Ins, Bad Jokes & Barely Veiled Self-Loathing

All right, when you've un-cringed from the above -

I'm about to (re-)embark on Slimming World and since I have neither the time nor the funds to go to classes could really do with a coupla pals for those delicious weekly morning weigh-ins. Is anyone interested? I guess it would be ideal if we were all SWing, but it ain't essential. It's the praise or blame I need, alongside willing recipients of lengthy descriptions of the size of my arse Grin.

Few stats (and needless to say we needn't go in for actual weights here)

I lost 3.5 stone a couple of years ago on SW, and have gained about 20lb of that. I KNOW! Silly bint.

As a first step I want to lose 10lb because this will take me into the 'light enough for IVF' category (I have 6 months left before referral for fertility treatment and if not pregnant by then would like to arrive in the pink of health).

After that I would like to lose another 10lb and say 'hello stranger!' to my sad neglected wardrobe of vintage frocks.

Finally, if you are interesting in hanging out, would you mind awfully looking in the mirror and checking that you actually are properly overweight?! Because nothing would depress me more than celebrating getting into a size 16 dress, when everyone else on the thread was lamenting finding their size 10 skinnies a little snug Hmm

Right. I'll now sit back and await rejection. Alpine my luvva, if you're reading this do join!

5 gins Sonds like a good night Bloof,

Ok (shuts eyes and covers ears) I'm 5ft 7inch , my starting weight was 14st 11lb, I have lost 1st 7lb so far since the end of Feb, would like to be 10.5 to 11 st

Not sure how I'm going to do this week DS2 is having an operation tomorrow to remove his adenoids which hopefully will stop the glue ear and chronic ear infection he has had for the last 18month, so food will be dictated by how he recovers. I will avoid the burger king in the hospital obviously Confused

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/05/2011 16:52

Ah hedgepig hope it goes ok tomorrow and he quickly bounces back. Bless him!

Bloof - 5 gins ain't too bad really. Though pre DD I would have been disappointed with that on a night out. Now one vino is enough to send me to sleep.

I'm starving now. That soup was really yum but hungry again. I'm off to raid cupboards for something healthy.

BlooferLady · 08/05/2011 17:30

Oh gosh Hedge, a littl'un going under the knife must be stressful. I hope it goes really well.

Good luck with healthy food foraging, Cheesy ... sometimes I think we should share some tips for free snacks, and any good recipes we have going

Meanwhile (I am using MN as a food diary!) I had a snack of half a white roll (3 syns) with some tinned sardine and cucumber in it, and about a tsp of spread probably (2 syns). So I think I'm on 8.5 syns total, which is m'total for the day....

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/05/2011 22:05

I had a plum! Very uninspiring!

Last night I made smoked mackerel dip which was free. You could do it with salmon too. You just blend it with fat free fromage frais and a squeeze of lemon juice. Will do an online search in the wee hours when I'm up feeding the baby for other ideas!

cheepcheepchoconora · 09/05/2011 08:54

morning all :)

hopefully got my healthy head on this week ... eeek!

so today I have had so far - cup of tea and elevenses bar (better than the 6 biscuits or so I normally have?)
a croissant courtesy of tesco express and a vanilla latte

thats me done until lunch hopefully - if I do get hungry I have a go ahead yoghurty bar in my drawer

was thinking of getting a sainsbo's bgty cesar salad and some chicken for lunch?

BlooferLady · 09/05/2011 09:04

Morning Cheep m'lass, how's tricks?

Chicken and salad sounds good ... certainly better than croissant and latte Wink. Good luck for your healthy head being on this week - have you mebbe thought about planning the day's eats ahead? I know that's easier said than done when you have a busy life...

Talking of planning ahead, here's me. I'm doing a Green Day (EE days are good but a bit spendy - I like doing Green for the sake of my empty bank account)....

Break: dippy egg and toast (HEB) - 3 syns for spread on the bread. Norty!
Lunch: (again, main meal 'cos of the OM's damn job) cauliflower cheese, which will have HEA cheese and 5 syns in milk, with new potatoes and salad. Fresh fruit after.

Supper: stir fry veg noodles, apple stewed with honey (HEB)

Total syns for the day 8.

Good luck all!

Bugger forgot my 2 syns for 1/2 tbsp cornflour! That means 10 syns. I hope that's going to be OK

cheepcheepchoconora · 09/05/2011 09:10

well done you - and a special well done for the no eggy bread - although I love it so don't blame you Wink

I find it hard to plan the meals ahead because I have 2 lunches in the office (which I rarely have time to take with me in the morning) one working lunch and then the rest of the time its around the kids... I ALWAYS sort them, then an hour or so later wonder why I am starving Confused idiot....

I really need to name change away from my easter one now!

AlpinePony · 09/05/2011 09:10

Morning all, good luck hedgepig - I'm sure it'll all go very easily! A colleague's little boy had a GA the other week to get an "under the skull" hearing aid fitted (following meningitis) - he was up the next morning running around the ward and terrorising the nurses! :)

Today:
B: Cherries, half banana, 2 kiwis, greek yoghurt, spoon of honey
Mid-morning: Huge upsetting argument with boyfriend (predicted) - will make me shake with rage/upset and I'll go out and buy chocolate/fags
L: Roasted beetroot with goat's cheese, pinenuts, sun-dried toms, olive oil, balsalmic on a bed of baby leaves & other assorted chopped veg
D: Roasted salmon, fresh peas (podded (?) them this morning, very therapeutic) - some other form of veg too
Fruit in abundance at any point during the day.

I got a load of rhubarb & apples in my organic box last week, I'm going to have to make a sodding crumble aren't I? But IIRC they freeze well - bloofer?

cheepcheepchoconora · 09/05/2011 09:14

pony I love that you have planned for an argument and the fall out!!!

ooh hedge - good luck for your DS today, am sure it will go fine - more stressful for you than him :)

BlooferLady · 09/05/2011 09:21

Yes thank you cheep: breaking my eggy bread addiction has been tough

I so understand how tough it is to plan. I work somewhere where they give me lunch for free, and there are things like roast capon and roast leg of lamb on offer. For free. I am not joking! This week I am going to take in packed lunches because I get tempted to go to Hall and it's a disaster.

Oh Pony sorry about the predicted argument Sad. Go for the fags and leave the choc! (I would say that...). And yar, stewed rhubarb and apple freeze beautifully. And you could save it to make a crumble to celebrate losing, I dunno 5kg??

BlooferLady · 09/05/2011 09:23

Oh and yes Hedge dear, hope all goes well for the lad today.

duckymum · 09/05/2011 09:38

Right, new week - time to get serious... (and forget Saturday's cocktails, which I will be blaming entirely come DoD)

Breakfast was mashed banana with greek yoghurt, lunch I am planning on cheese on small bread toast and cherry tomatoes, then later I will make a big vat of veg & bean soup for dinner and try not to have any bread with it. Will probably last until tomorrow as well with any luck. Fruit for inbetween times.

Will try to walk fast to baby group this afternoon rather than copping out and getting on the bus, but from there will need to get bus to nursery to pick up DD and toddler's pace walk home from there.

Is a lovely drying day today (realise how old I sound now) - am contemplating laundering all the shirts that don't fit me and hanging them around the house to induce guilt and keep me from biscuits.

Hedgepig - hope all is OK. DD had grommets for glue ear last month - I was not keen on the GA, but 20 mins later she was sitting up demanding "Can I have my LUNCH now?" and eating all food that came near (takes after her mother)

OK off to do housework before DS wakes up. Funtimes.

pixiestix · 09/05/2011 09:47

Well done Bloof you sound like you are on the right track and will be a shining beacon of positivity for the thread! Or rather, we will all learn from your mistakes re eggy bread, alcohol and muller lights. Wink

Hope the Hedgepiglet gets on alright today. It must be horrible for you.

Mmm. Crumble.....

Oh crap, baby crying. Back later.

pixiestix · 09/05/2011 10:41

Aha! It all falls into place. Grumpy teething baby even more grumpy than usual, and ta-da! We have a tooth! Grin So, does anyone with older rug-rats know how long the grumpiness goes on for once the tooth has cracked through the gum? I have one red and miserable little girl here!

So, stats, I am -
Pix, 5ft 1.5, pre-pg weight 13 st 9, starting SW weight 12 st 12, weight now 11 st 2.5, target 8st 12ish

If that doesn't seem too huge pleez to bear in mind that I am 5 ft 1.5 and so nearly a dwarf and my healthy weight range starts at 6 st 13. 6st 13.
Six. Stone. Thirteen. For. Fucks. Sake. Angry

At the risk of being shot down in flames though, I much prefer Onlys list format and would rather stick with that. Obviously I will go with the majority, but just thought I would say in case anyone else felt the same. Blush

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/05/2011 10:43

Moening y'all,

This will prob be a short one due to a whining baby sat on me! Typing one handed

Cheep - breakfast sounds better!! Well done. I agree about planning your daily meals

Bloof menu looks good

Ducky - agree about walking, it is the easiest way to exercise with the little ones

alpine - mm crumble. Maybe saver it for something special. Laughed at you planning the choc and ciggies

Toda i will eat

B-branflakes, raspberries, ff yog HEB

L- picnic in park, will take salad and fruit

D- Chicken casserole yog and fruit

plus alpen lights, fruit, mackerel dip and raw veggies

mummynoseynora · 09/05/2011 13:53

have pretty much stuck to my lunch plan

got a sainsbos bgty cesar salad and had half of that (minus the croutons)... 141 cal for half a pack so less than that without croutons
2 thin slices of gammon ham from the deli and a little baguettine

got to be fairly reasonable?

Was thinking I'd take the rest of the salad home and have it tonight with some left over beef from yesterdays roast?

mummynoseynora · 09/05/2011 13:54

by the way its cheep under my usual guise!

mummynoseynora · 09/05/2011 17:00

Just had a scotch pancake as a snack - just the one... 88 cal - is that bad?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/05/2011 17:08

Sounds good! Well done. Dinner sounds reasonable too.

Am making chicken casserole- yummy!

Bloof - i know you wanted some snack ideas..I;ve been online and found a couple of dips you mught like? Want me To PM them to you? Or I could stick them on here....

BlooferLady · 09/05/2011 18:01

I could never eat just one scotch pancake, which is why I would never buy 'em Grin. I guess if you can eat just the one you maniac it's OK!

SLIGHTLY despairing over my studies so off to cook some noodles to cheer myself up. Alas I forgot to get some veg in so I shall basically be eating just garlicky salty spicey soy-ey goodness

Oooo hurrah for snack ideas Cheese, thank you! i reckon stick 'em up here so we can all see!

OP posts:
stinkypinky · 09/05/2011 19:09

Hmm.... Bloof - a question!

How is dippy egg with bread and spread different to eggy bread? Same ingredients, so hardly breaking a habit? Grin

Pixie I do not mind what format the list takes, but honestly believe there is a lot to be gained for accepting the size of the 'problem' initially, and then setting interim goals.

Any news on Hedgepiglet ? DD1 may need her tonsils and adenoids out soon so I will be interested to hear how he gets on.

BlooferLady · 09/05/2011 19:32

Har! Well, I actually don't think there is a problem with the eggy bread per se, because on SW obviously eggs are OK and I can have 2 slices of weeny bread. But it's not actually that filling IYSWIM, and I was having it with loads of ketchup (uncounted syns ). And I can't remember which wise soul pointed out that a mullerlight and a bit of fruit isn't a substantial breakfast - egg & soldiers cheerfully saw me through to 1.30pm without having loads of sneaky nuts and raisins a crisp green apple.

On all matters listy - I will do whatever the majority wants, because I am magnaninaninanimous like that Grin. But don't want anyone feeling they have to share their weight. Shame works for me, sadly, but it wouldn't happen at a SW group. Unless it really was like one of the ones in The League of Gentlemen

OP posts:
mummynoseynora · 09/05/2011 19:43

evening all :)

I have just eaten my dinner - left over roast beef (YUM - lean BGTY joint) with light mayo and the remainder of the cesar salad from lunch - in fact I haven't had any of the croutons and there is dressing left over

so I know my day has been a tad carb heavy (when isn't it?!) but on the good side, its lower carbs than normal, and lower calories than normal too Grin

I think I can just about bear to do full stats - bearing in mind that I forget where I am week on week... no idea of last weeks weight! It would be a good idea - as then can just compare to that?! Will there be a spreadsheet involved to help me not remember????

waiting for good news from hedgepig

now I just have the whole evening on my lonesome to try and survive without eating too many crisps or biscuits!

fishandlilacs · 09/05/2011 20:22

hello ladies,

well I have gone totally off the rails-i am just too bloody hungry to care. Also lost my job today (it ends 28th July) I cant even console myself with booze and fags.
