notyummy · 08/07/2011 11:42

Wow McPie do you mean 2 whole levels (i.e 1 and 2) in the mornng and then another two after lunch. That is hardcore!

chocolateshoes · 08/07/2011 12:09

Hope you manage to get started soon McPie. My leg muscle still hurts so am still having to avoid most of Jillian's cardio although I can manage mountain climbers. It is rather frustrating though.

But the good news is I was just starting to sort through which clothes to take on holiday in a couple of weeks, and i tried on a dress I love which I haven't worn since 2000 and it fits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am so pleased!! have no idea about weight loss as our scales have broken (not my fault!!) but I must be more toned around the core! Also 2 people at work asked me how I keep my arms so toned. Woop!!!!!

threestepsforward · 08/07/2011 12:53

Again, wow at everyone's inspiring stories - Chocolateshoes and Knotty, that is absolutely brilliant Grin

Still plodding on with the Shred until house-stuff is done - level 3 last night but added using my 2 kg weights during the sumo squats and for the rock star jumps. Added a little something extra to the workout!

Off for the weekend so there will be lots of eating, drinking, making merry and not a shred of Shred!

Hope everyone has a good one Smile

threestepsforward · 08/07/2011 12:54

Oo, and McPie , sorry to hear about your toe, thank goodness you didn't lose the end of it Shock
Hope it heals up and you are back on track again soon...

knottyhair · 09/07/2011 06:20

Just wanted to say have a good week everyone. We're off to Devon in a couple of hours. Hoping to fit Jillian in most mornings so I stuff my face have a few treats as well. Take care xx

McPie · 09/07/2011 15:09

Thank you, it seems to be getting better thankfully, I may just get away with starting on monday. And yes I do plan on doing two levels together though I never start with L2 as I hate the warm up, those neck circles make me dizzy and are pretty pointless imo. If I was doing another, less effective, DVD it would last an hour so I would rather do two shreds in less the time, plus things lift a lot faster doing it that way Grin

chirpchirp · 09/07/2011 19:55

Oh sweet Jesus! First day of 3DS and oh my do I feel it! Had never heard of the shred until I discovered this board and decided to give it a shot. I won't lie, I have a lot of weight to lose but I'm totally in the right mindset at the moment and have lost a stone in the last month (without the help of Ms Michaels) so being able to add this into what I'm already doing at the gym is really going to help. :)

McPie · 10/07/2011 20:34

Okay not starting shred boot camp tomorrow Sad I really want to [stamps feet, ouch wrong one]
The toe is still causing quite a bit of pain when I walk, I think I will be of shred duty for the best part of the week.
Its okay when I dont wear shoes but as soon as I go out it starts to split and throb.

threestepsforward · 10/07/2011 21:44

Just checking in after a lovely weekend away - back to the Jillian grindstone for me tomorrow!

Knotty hope you have a fab time in Devon Smile. I'm one county along from there and weather's not been too bad, hope the sun shines for you...

Welcome Chirpchirp - well done on starting out...I won't lie, you will ache like buggery for the first few days but stick with it, it will be so worth it!

McPie, sorry your toe's still giving you grief. I have the same problem with the neck circles in the L2 warm-up - I now do one circle in one direction and go the other way for the next and so on - doing that's helped me get rid of that horrid dizzy feeling...

VenetiaLanyon · 11/07/2011 10:50

hello all, glorious day for a shred Wink

Glad that you had a lovely weekend, threesteps, and have a lovely holiday, knotty; hope that there are treats aplenty.
Bad news, McPie; sounds like you're being sensible resting up
Welcome chirpchirp; great weight loss so far - i found that the shred helped more with inches than weight initially.

Glad everyone feels the same way about those neck circles; thought that the giddy feeling was yet more evidence of general decrepitude...

notyummy · 11/07/2011 10:57

Hi all.
NO shredding this weeked but a long run (11 miles) on Friday, pilates on saturday and a 3.5 miler on Sunday. Plan to do 5 circuits of NMTZtomorrow as will be pushed for time. Rest day today!

Hope the toe gets better soon - and yes, expect to ache for the first few days of shredding. I usually find when I get going and warmed up that it nearly disappears.

Jacksterbear · 11/07/2011 13:12

Afternoon all! And welcome chirpchirp - did you do day 2 yesterday?

Have just tried Nell McAndrew's Ultimate Challenge Ultimate Results for the first time in a long time (since pre-pg with DC2) ... have always really struggled with it before and wanted to see how/if my fitness levels had improved... and, well, I made it through the main workout (1 hr of pretty fast-paced cardio + squats) ok, but no way was I going on to do the strength section (about another 20/30 mins of arm and ab hell Confused) on top of that! Still, the conclusion is that I am fitter than previously, becaue I used to make it about half way through the cardio, then skip to the strength, then bail out on that pretty quickly too!

poppyandsneeze · 11/07/2011 13:30

Tried level 2 on Friday and didn't get any done at the weekend. I felt that level 2 was really bad on my back. So today have gone back to start on level 1 again. I think I will do that section again for a week and see if it is easier for me. Did anyone have the same problem with the change in level 2 from level 1 ???

kittyfisherfoundit · 11/07/2011 13:32

hello all! good to see there has been lots of shredding whilst I was stuffing my face with pasties and cream teas doing lots of running on the beach and surfing!
Have just done circuits 1 - 6 on BFBM after a 3 day break and boy was it hard. Not helped by the c25 degree heat we have here today. Still...I have SW weigh in tonight so every drop of sweat is a baby step closer to my target!
Now all I need to do is find my lightest clothes ready for the reckoning tonight at 7.30....
notymmy thats some impressive running. I cant seem to get past week 3 of couch to 5k!
welcome chirpchirp can echo those who say that the shred helps with inches first and weight second!

chirpchirp · 11/07/2011 16:27

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Yep still sticking to it - did day 3 first thing this morning and can already see a difference on my thighs, going to double my efforts and go to the gym tonight too. After day 2 was really sore (my legs hurt more than after completing the Moonwalk) but I'm strangely enjoying it. Does anyone have any tips about when is best to step up to level 2? Is going for 10 ten days at each level a good plan?

chocolateshoes · 11/07/2011 21:02

welcome Chirp! I stuck to the 10 days before moving up. And then once I'd done all 30 days continued on level 3 but upped my weights.

My leg has completely popped now and I'm having to use a crutch to walk!!!!! Am really fed up especially after managing to get into that dress. Am worried it'll all come back. Did some biceps & triceps tonight but that won't shift the calories!!!

Jacksterbear · 12/07/2011 07:34

chirp I did the same as choc and did 10 days of each level. From what I've read your body gets used to a particular set of exercises and it therefore becomes less effective (if you keep doing exactly the same thing) after about 2 weeks, so mixing it up every 10 or so days seems like a good plan.

choc that doesn't sound good Sad.

kittyfisherfoundit · 12/07/2011 08:39

...just ordered NMTZ. Hello. My name is Kitty and I am a Jillianaholic.

notyummy · 12/07/2011 09:54

Sorry about the leg Choc.

NMTZ is good Kitty - think you will 'enjoy' it - if you interpret enjoy as involving a certain amount of suffering!!

shredder · 12/07/2011 10:47

i was having a nose around JM's FB page and noticed pictures of her shooting a
new Shred dvd.
with natalie and anita.

looking forward to it. strange enough!

(and her dog's called Seven!)

chocolateshoes · 12/07/2011 20:49

Dr says it will take between 6-8 weeks to heal! Very fed up.....

VenetiaLanyon · 13/07/2011 09:27

Bad news re the leg, Choc; can you do anything like swimming at all?

Shredder - oddly excited by the prospect of a new Shred, and glad to see that Natalie and Anita will be in it - I like the fact that Natalie constantly gets it wrong, and isn't nearly as graceful as the other 2.

Does anyone else find plank twisst easy? I think that I must be doing them wrong?

Jacksterbear · 13/07/2011 12:05

Kitty NMTZ rocks! I am finding all my non-Jillian exercise DVDs less and less satisfying... they are all either short but too easy, or hard but too long. I love the JM efficiency!

Venetia re the plank twist... I was finding them quite easy too when I was first doing them in the Shred, but then on either BFBM or NMTZ (can't remember which) she says something like "you have to bring your knee right up to your opposite armpit" and I realised I was not getting my knee round and up high enough, I really felt the difference then!

choc Sad that sucks!

VenetiaLanyon · 14/07/2011 16:10

Thanks Jackster, will hoik leg higher in an energetic way.... Grin

chocolateshoes · 14/07/2011 20:22

I agree about the plank twist and also realised I wasn't in a low enough planl so my abs weren't really doing much to hold me up.

Went for a swim today Venetia but my calf felt really wierd without the support strapping I'm wearing. It felt all flobby and jelly-like. Ended up swimming using 1 leg and did some arms only crawl. Grr.

I can do the Core section on NMTZ but all the plank stuff requires your calf so they're no good. Just did some bicep curls.

Hopefully a new Shred will coincide with a healed calf and I'll be able to get going again. Natalie is my fav and I like her green top in level 3.
