Graceless and chocolateshoes, have you got 6W6P? That's 35 mins from start to finish. And Graceless, I know what you mean about the cardio in L1. I did it this morning, but used weights in the cardio a la L3. Still can't manage 2 full sets of proper press-ups. Persuaded my very strong DP to try the first circuit (in between fitting the new boiler!) and he said he was knackered afterwards!

gracelesslady · 30/05/2011 19:05

i don't have 6w6p - my tummy is (and probably always will be) an issue, but the rest of me needs attention too - is it an all over workout like 30DS? i liked the notion of nmtz because i have a lot of trouble zones! Wink

and well done for the cardio/weights knotty! i did think about it, cos the 1kg ones were just sitting there, but decided against it! i can't do 2 full sets of push ups either. i either do both sets a la anita, but really going for it, or i do first set a la natalie, want to die and then do very feebly next time round. still, am stronger than i probably ever have been, and i'm getting stronger every time i do it :o i'm sure the day will come when i can breeze through two rounds of full on man push ups!

roundthehouses · 30/05/2011 20:53

can i join in? i was getting right into shredding when i got pregnant with ds2 last summer, now he is 3mo (and I finally found the dvd after several intensive whole-house searches..in the end it was - err - right there on the shelf with the other dvds) and i´ve decided to give it a try and see how I got on. I did my first day today.. waaaah! I have felt great albeit rather achey all day, hope i can keep it up! will be looking to all of your success stories to urge me on Smile

chocolateshoes · 30/05/2011 21:04

what does 6W6P stand for? have been puzzling over it! My tum is also the V big problem area

Have missed Shred again tonight cos next door neighbours lured me to theirs & plied me with wine. Will have to do it 1st thing tomorrow to make up for this!

knottyhair · 30/05/2011 21:44

Hi roundthehouses! Well done on starting again.
6W6P = six week six pack. I'd say it works other areas as well, the warm-up is cardio, and there's some standing stuff with weights, and loads of plank type stuff, including plank jacks & mountain climbers. That's L1, which I really like. L2 is a whole other story! I've only attempted it once and haven't plucked up the courage to give it another go yet Blush.

Jacksterbear · 30/05/2011 21:53

knotty I took a leaf out of your book and did L1 just now, with 2kg weights all the way through including the cardio. AND did double jump ropes a la L2 instead of normal skipping . BUT could only manage 8 Nadalee style push ups in the first set then 3 in the second. Still I never thought I'd see the day when I could do any proper push ups!!

Weigh-in today: 1.5 lb lost in a week (although scales dodgy and give me different weights... 1.5lb is the best figure I got! Grin). Still 2lb to to to meet my "going back to work" target weight next Monday - it's doable, maybe?!!

Good work everyone, keep it up Smile.

notyummy · 31/05/2011 08:31

Well done on the weight loss Jackster!

Those of you who aren't certain about NMTZ or BFBM because they are longer, remember that they are broken up into circuits so you can choose to do 4/5 or the 7 circuits for example if you are short of time. BFBM def more cardio and great for holidays/working away as you need no kit other than sports bra and trainers. I have it on my iphone so I can do when away from home. I would say 6W6P def works other areas - I felt it in my bottom and thighs afterwards (think that may have been level 2.)

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to move yesterday after my 5 kg double shred on Sunday -but I was fine apart from slightly stiff shoulders. Showed that Libra was right! Did a run yesterday and having a break today after 4 very hard exercise days.

Happy shredding all!

BalloonSlayer · 31/05/2011 08:40

Second what knottyhair says about 6W6P. I got it after finishing the shred as my stomach is my main disaster trouble area, although I do need to improve my fitness generally.

Now, if I lean back I do have a toned-looking stomach (not telling you what happens if I lean forward, I think I'll just say I had my last baby at 43 and leave it there . . .) and when I do do a shred for a change I always feel like there are nothing like enough abs exercises in it.

I have always had skinny arms and so toning them was not one of my priorities, hence the strength work on the shred always exhausted me and I wasn't particularly interested in the results. The tummy is however another story. I am reliably informed by a letch DH that my bottom looks very nice too.

So the cardio/abs mix in 6W6P [disclaimer: Level 1 ONLY] suits me down to the ground.

I have just bought BFBM and intend to try it when I have the time, but now it's half term I struggle to squeeze in a shred let alone a 6W6P.

knottyhair · 31/05/2011 08:46

Agree with notyummy, I often only do 4 circuits of BFBM when I'm short of time. I did try 4 circuits of NMTZ but I don't think I chose well, and it didn't feel like I'd done enough. I quite like doing it all the way through when I have time, and now I know the circuits better, I think I could probably choose 4 that would be the hardest to do. And well done on the weight loss Jackster!

VenetiaLanyon · 31/05/2011 09:30

Hi all, hope that you all had good bank holiday weekends; just wanted to check in that I've reached 15 days - half way through the shred- yay Smile

Am still struggling with L2 though, and have to do all the Anita moves; can't imagine ever hanging out with ol' Nat on this one.

What have most of you gone onto do immediately post Shred? Have just purchased all of Jillian's finest...

chocolateshoes · 31/05/2011 10:03

Ah thanks Knotty & Balloon- sounds like the one for me then. My priority has to be my stomach area. C-section plus a very bad back has had a double whammy on my tum and I have mega flab whereas like you Balloon my arms & legs are fine.

VenetiaL - I'm working my way through again but with higher weights and mostly Natalie. I've done 2 days back on L1 and will probably just do 5 days this time before moving on. Am considering getting 6W6P to do after that.

just done L1D2 with heavier weights and a handover. feel quite sick now. Oh dear!

fearnelinen · 31/05/2011 10:44

Hey hey! L1D7 completed, albeit 2 days late! I had a day off on Sunday and then Monday I couldn't even get 1/2 way through L1 without wanting to throw up - I think perhaps I have to do it first thing, before breakfast. Anyone else do this?

fearnelinen · 31/05/2011 10:45

Quick Q - NMTZ and BFBM? What does that mean then?!

notyummy · 31/05/2011 10:55

No More Trouble Zones.

roundthehouses · 31/05/2011 12:22

hi knottyhair, thanks for the welcome Smile i really was coming up with a million excuses for not doing day 2 today but i did it, phew! and going for a run with dh tonight so not sure how I´ll feel tomorrow. Am really feeling it all over already.

Jacksterbear · 31/05/2011 15:07

well done roundthehouses. It's been said many times on here but worth saying again: the first couple of days are by far the hardest achiness-wise! Keep going and by day 3/4 it'll be a cakewalk, promise! Grin

threestepsforward · 31/05/2011 16:08

or a walk to the cakes in my case Grin

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 31/05/2011 18:08

venetia I use 6w6p, nmtz and shred, and rotate between them. shred usually when limited time, I like to do nmtz all the way through so tend to save for the weekends. 6w6p slots in between these. All of them work up a sweat and my heart rate get elevated so haven't felt the need to get bfbm (yet!). Am just trying to raise the weights gradually. will always do the cardio in the shred with weights and thinking of moving up to 3.5kgs for some of the moves, note thinking of, haven't actually done it yet!

Jacksterbear · 01/06/2011 09:54

Venetia - I did the 30DS in 30 days straight, then dropped down to 5x exercise per week, mixture of shred (choosing levels at random) and other DVDs mostly Tae Bo and Davina. I did buy NMTZ and BFBM but am finding the full length too long and, like knotty says, I have yet to find the best selection of sections to make me feel like it's a full rounded workout if I only choose 3/4 sections.

Balloon just re-read your post about leaning back to get the best angle on your tummy muscles in the mirror - LOL, not just me that does than, then!! Grin

Jacksterbear · 01/06/2011 09:54

than that

knottyhair · 01/06/2011 10:45

Jackster, I did 4 sections of BFBM this morning, and did 1, 3, 6 & 7 and I was pretty knackered and out of breath by the end of it. I think as long as I don't do both the kick-boxing ones, which I think are the easiest, then I still feel like I've done "something" IYKWIM. But you may well be fitter than me...

BalloonSlayer · 01/06/2011 11:22

Ohhh Jackster I did a Level 2 Shred today and my t-shirt was annoying me so I took it off. When I looked at my stomach while I was doing the walking plank thing it was GROTESQUE. Just horrible . . . ugh. Like the pot belly of a wizened little 80 year old crone.

Sad

Angle is everything, obviously.

At least it has taught me to "really tighten those Abs" while in plank now.

VenetiaLanyon · 01/06/2011 11:36

Thanks for the ideas, folks; I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself; still need to get to end of Shred first (14 days to go). Grin

Is Level 3 much worse than Level 2?
