Let's start afresh!

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 08/05/2011 12:16

Why don't you post what you're eating at the moment, olismum, and we'll see if we can help?

(Although I suspect the problem is that you're just being a little impatient!)

ConstanceFelicity · 08/05/2011 12:44

I was like you olismum- Lost loads really quickly, and then nothing at all for about6/7 weeks. And I didn't cheat at all. It does move again after a bit, you just have to be patient. (I only weighed myself once a week during this period, because it was just too depressing to do it daily!)

olismum23 · 08/05/2011 14:12

yeah i not worrying too much. even though i am now 16st 8 well overweight, im happy if i never put a pound on again and if i lose it it will be a bonus. I like this WOE :) im 5'7 and i hope one day i might see 12st again but if i dont not gaining will help too.

CointreauVersial · 08/05/2011 16:15

I'm sticking with low-carbing, as it suits me down to the ground - could never count calories! I'm not perfect, though; after spending 10 hours at a football tournament yesterday (one of the organisers) I succumbed to a giant burger and a piece of bakewell tart. I deserved it!!

Bacon/eggs/sausage/tomato for brunch today; then for the evening meal we'll be having fresh mackerel with coleslaw and salad, followed by apple crumble made with Splenda, linseed and soya flour (experimental!!).

Timbachick · 08/05/2011 19:47

Evenin' all! Grin Wow, what a busy weekend ...lots to catch up on.

OM - I agree with the others when they say that your 12lb loss in one week set the bar REALLY REALLY high. Whilst a fantastic loss it was always going to be slightly miraculous if you lost this week. Stick with it and it WILL move again.

Hi Sal - 5lbs off is great. Well done. You must be doing something right that works for you. Sadly I am here for life as wheat and dairy just do not like me ... even though I loooooovvvvve them. Smile

BIWI - dooooooooooonnnnnn't goooooooooo Sad. Pop back and see us when you can. We'll miss you ... if you still decide to go

My eating this weekend has been sporadic at best. My DS had his banding tests at his new Secondary school on Saturday so we were up and out at the crack of a sparrows f**t. Loads of washing, ironing, cooking and sorting and I haven't managed to eat properly all weekend. Ah well, luverly roast lamb for dinner .... mmmmmmm.

Off to finish the last of the ironing, will pop back later to catch up. Grin

CointreauVersial · 08/05/2011 20:33

Well, I must just share the utterly delicious low-carb crumble topping I made this evening. I didn't actually measure anything, but it was basically butter, ground almonds, ground flaxseed, soya flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Rub into crumbs, add more flour if a bit claggy, then add Splenda to sweeten.

Lovely, crumbly and nutty! Wish I'd measured the quantities, though, because I'm convinced I'll never manage to recreate it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 08/05/2011 21:05

timbachick - I'm not disappearing anywhere - just need to give myself a short, sharp shock.

I suspect I'm going to end up doing some kind of hybrid VLCD/low carb thing just for the next few days.

(Mind you, I did enjoy eating garlic bread and saute potatoes for dinner out tonight - before I kick off tomorrow Grin)

ConstanceFelicity · 08/05/2011 21:30

Mmmmm that crumble sounds lush.

Today
Aubegine and veg bake with quorn mince. Yum.
Ham salad
Banana, blueberries and grapes

Shouldn't have had the banana. Didn't need it, it was just greed.

I am pleased (oddly!) to say that my clothes don't fit me. I have one pair of skinny jeans and some leggings, and all my tops I bought to hide my body, and I want to show it off now! They swamp me and make me look bigger. Am going to Cardiff next weekend for a party... Will pick up a few bits then.
I had a session of trying on all my posh frocks, the ones I have kept since I was at school, and I felt so good and nice. I did have control pants on, but my belly was actually OK. I have huge hips and a big bum which is going nowhere, but it worked. (Disclaimer: I am nowhere near thin, and know that something will make me feel crappy about myself in the next few days.)

Timbachick · 08/05/2011 22:29

Oh, that's ok then BIWI Grin. Thought we'd lost you for a minute ...

CV - I do that alot. Wing it and then spends ages trying to recreate it. I have a paleo crumble type topping somewhere ... will dig it out and post it.

Well done CF. It's so good when the clothes don't fit anymore. Wore a pair of cut offs on Saturday afternoon and spent all bloody afternoon hoiking (yes, it's a word Wink) th damn things up!!! Appears I do not have the same amount of fat that I used to have ... hehehehehe. Am loving this Grin

Timbachick · 08/05/2011 22:30

the, not th Grin

Sarraburd · 09/05/2011 07:43

Sal - in case you pop by again well done on all the exercise and good luck! Dhs birthday tomorrow so couch to 5k on hold but once I get that started see you on that thread.

Bwiw - good luck with the kick start. Going to do similar after dh birthday - I don't seem to lose v quickly while still eating cheese so going to try just having lean protein.

Well done cf and timba on the baggy clothes!

Thought of you on Saturday cv as went to whitstable. Lots of fish, and oysters, bit also couldn't resist a couple of new potatoes and lunch was so late I attacked the bread basket too. Never mind, we had a great time.

Last night's supper seared tuna with strawberry salsa and watercress salad, mmmm.

BelleEnd · 09/05/2011 09:34

I weighed today and was up one pound, so I disrobed again after, um, being to the toilet, and then I was back down to yesterday's weight :o

(It's Constance, by the way. Do you like my new name? I think it clashes nicely with the poshness of the previous one!) :o

Hi Belle/CF! Yes good contrast! I do that too (the reweighing after going, ahem).

Last weeks 9 9 def a blip as the very next day was back up to 9 10 1/4. Today 9 10.

Btw newbies I started this at 13 stone with a goal of 9 and a half stone (am five foot two). Did really well last year and got to almost goal, but then fell off wagon in September as DS2 had heart op. He's just now through a second follow up op so am bak on wagon aiming to get to that ellusive 9 and a half (but as I keep lapsing the going is a bit slow...going to kick start again after dh birthday tomorrow).

Sarraburd · 09/05/2011 14:02

Mmmm sardine niscoise again for lunch - I cannot thank you enough belle for that inspiration!

BelleEnd · 10/05/2011 09:04

No probs Sarra :)

Yesterday was difficult. I didn't eat crap, but around suppertime I ate so much fruit and ham on top of my salad, I felt horrible and bloated. I know it's not as if I had a mars bar and a multipack of McCoys, but it's all about self control with me, and I did lose it for a bit there. Wonder if it was something to do with AF?

No weight gain this morning though, so it can't have been that bad.

Yesterday:
Leftover aubegine thingy
2 coffees and a tea
Half a pig of ham and about four quid's worth of blueberries, raspberries and grapes.
Ham salad with sunflower seeds.

Am going to do stomach crunches twice a day now- Have a party on saturday and I want a flat stomach...

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/05/2011 11:12

Well funnily enough, having given myself permission to go off the low carb piste, I found when it actually came to it yesterday I couldn't do it!

So I'm doing a sort of hardcore induction at the moment. I'm 2lbs down since yesterday, so it looks like the kickstart I needed.

olismum23 · 10/05/2011 11:27

I am having one of those mornings. This week i have lost a 1lb weigh in tomorrow so i might lose some more. I have stuck to the diet. My hubby who went back to carbs at the start of the week has lost 31/2lb!!!!!!!! Confused

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/05/2011 12:37

Men always lose more/faster - don't compare your results!

MarianH · 10/05/2011 16:18

Please may I join your thread? I keep joining them and then they go quiet. I'm getting a complex.

I'm doing low GL, which is pretty low carb, and I've been going for 2 weeks now. I have around 3st to lose, although would secretly like to lose 3 1/2st, but not sure it's possible to be that weight again without being 24 and subsisting on a diet of coffee, diet coke and cigarettes. We shall see...

My birthday cross-trainer finally came through the post yesterday, so the pathetic excuses not to exercise have come to an end with the giant metal eyesore that now lurks, as a constant reminder, in the corner of the living room. I have to go on it about a thousand times in order to justify the cost. DH suspects it will end up in fitness machine limbo (garage) with the other obsolete fitness attempts (trampet, mini-stepper). This time I will prove him wrong!

16 days is the longest I've stuck to a diet in about 6 years, so so far, so good.

BelleEnd · 10/05/2011 18:47

Hello Marian! Welcome! This thread has been quiet on occasion but I carry on obsessively posting my meals, so together we should be fine! :o 3st is my goal too, and I'm 2st down now, and feeling good! Stomach still pregnant-looking, mind, but I am stomach crunching (as opposed to biscuit crunching!) as I watch telly... :o
What is low GL?

Good day today. Made m and m flapjacks this morning as I was having two friends and their kids over for coffee, and managed not to even lick the mixing spoon. Haven't gone mad on the snacking either.

2 coffees
Ham salad
few blueberries, 3 or 4 grapes
Mackerel salad

Lovely compliments from my very nice friends who said I was nice looking before and even better now... I love them :)

Sarraburd · 10/05/2011 18:50

Welcome Marian! Low GL is what I do too (are you doing Holford?) though for me I find it better for maintenance than loss as I cheat too often (wine...) - for loss I cut out pasta, bread and potatoes too but stick with the rest of it.

Sarraburd · 10/05/2011 18:56

Belle crossposted...GL takes GI one stage further by measuring the amount of sugar in something as well as how quickly it's released. So for example watermelon is high GI but low GL as actually it's mainly water and there's not that much sugar in it. The idea is that by keeping your blood sugar levels stable you eat less as you feel full for longer. Obviously high carb things are also high GL so it's very similar really, except that one isn't aiming for ketosis so more carbs are allowed than on Atkins for example. But one therefore has to watch the fat more carefully (high omega fats are positively encouraged though as they help you not want carbs)

Sarraburd · 10/05/2011 18:59

And ps belle - well done on the compliments!

BelleEnd · 10/05/2011 19:29

Wow, thanks Sarra- It sounds a lot like I'm doing- low carb, low fat. Though I am doing next to no carbs at the moment as all I fancy is salad, and I do have a bit of high-fat meat, like ham. And the omega threes I love- Toasted sunflower seeds with a bit of salt are the best!
