Let's start afresh!

I would say no waterproof - it will just make you sweaty and it won't really keep you that dry. If it was very cold it would be different but warm sprint rain is luverly! Smile

Hi, all. I was very moved by the Spanish woman thread, too, and am trying to cut carbs at the moment (not easy as DS, is meant to be off dairy products, and so can't have f-ing cheese Confused.)

                           Cooking would be a breeze
If only we c'd have cheese!

However, tuna mayo in an avocado, chicken/bacon on rocket, stuffed mushrooms, and grilled chicken with pesto have been successes so far. Lunch is probalbly going to be ham sandwich and hard boiled egg for DS and ham and salad for me. (He needs lots of fat, btw, as non-dairy milk (soya, rice, etc.) is incredibly low-fat, and I'm worried about that for a toddler.) Maybe some carrot sticks and houmous as well.

Where does coffee fall in this sort of regime? I'm off it for Lent, but am longing to get back to it. I have it with full-fat milk, so is that all right if I cut the sugar?

CointreauVersial · 30/03/2011 13:26

Hi Plupedantic - Oh, I couldn't cope without cheese!

Some people say you should stay off caffeine, but most of us conveniently ignore that rule.

If you are going to have coffee/tea the most low-carb addition is actually cream, with skimmed milk being the most carby. Sounds irrational, but once they take out the fat they leave more of the lactose/sugar. But lose the sugar - use Splenda if you must.

Sarraburd · 30/03/2011 13:42

The lcarb diet i was doing last year said no caffeine as messes with insulin and slows fat burning. Ditto alcohol - although some is carb free/low, however low still has similar affect on blood sugar to sugar.

But I think I would find it easier to give up sex Grin

You do still lose weight if you have them, but It probably is a bit slower, and moderation (hmmm) is key.

Frankly I am happy with the slightly slower weight loss and then with odd lapse able to stick with the rest of it for longer.

Hi there, can I come in? Was trying to read the old thread but it got a bit long. I have been low carbing since New Year and have lost 5.5kg so far (not sure what that is in lb). Have 4.5 kg to go to reach my goal, which I wnat to do by DS's second birthday, which is at the end of May.

About the tortillas, I use low carb ones which I but from the online shop low carb megastore. I find them good (although I use lettice leaves more often).

Hello! May I join even though I'm doing low carb a bit differently to you lot? I'm cutting down on carbs but also down on dairy, sugar, crisps (how I miss them!) etc. So basically I'm eating fruit, veg, meat and fish. I am 5ft11 and have lost a stone- am now 12 and a half stone. I haven't really got a weightloss goal... I just want to eat like this from now on, with the occasional treat allowed. Am trying to think long term.

I'm amazed at how full I am! I always said that I needed carbs to make me full, but I guess I was wrong.

ExitPursuedByALamb · 30/03/2011 14:15

Eeek - I have finally found a list of carbs in fruit and it has completely depressed me. Shock

Bought apples and pears yesterday - I will have to force them down DD and DH.

I too am amazed how full I am.

Ormirian · 30/03/2011 14:41

I drink coffee and tea. I also drink (moderately )wine and spirits. I use a tiny bit of semi-skimmed dairy milk. I have come to the conclusion that you can get too tied up in the science of it. So I basically give up refined sugars and starchy foods and foods naturally high in sugar. Which still leaves a lot to eat! I restrict the amt of artifical sweeteners too although I do use diet tonic and coke (not much) and some splenda.

Hey constance! You are my size twin! Same height and I am just under 12s having started at 13 about 6 weeks ago. Proving harder to shift anything now though.

I also use low-fat milk and I drink wine, anyone know the Drinking Man's diet? That's pretty much what I am doing but also being It is working for me, anyway.

ExitPursuedByALamb · 30/03/2011 15:20

What is the Drinking Man's Diet?

Hello Ormirian! You are doing well! I've not been under twelve stone since I was about thirteen... What size are you? I am a 16 now. I'm noticing the shrinkage in me but no-one else is, which is annoying ( I know I shouldn't care, but I bloody do!)

Ormirian · 30/03/2011 16:13

I'm a 14 atm as near as I can tell. Not buying any clothes so not sure. I struggle to get into my 12 jeans but my size 16 dress is loose. So I guess 14 is right. I got down to 10 9 a few years back and was quite skinny. I am aiming to be able to wear all my jeans without the hideous muffin top and camel toe look Hmm So I need to lose another stone.

OP posts:
ConstanceFelicity · 30/03/2011 16:30

10 is skinny for people as tall as us! I was a 14 when I married 7 years ago, and if I got down to a 12 I'd be really really happy. I've been dancing in the kitchen for exercise whilst I wait for the delivery of my 30-day shred dvd... I just hope a vid of me doing the Beyonce butt shake ends up on youtube thanks to passing ramblers... :o

ConstanceFelicity · 30/03/2011 16:31

Have just looked at your photos... I want your bod!

Ormirian · 30/03/2011 16:36

Ah sadly I'd like that bod too constance Sad I don't look like that now - that was when I was under 11s and had been running a lot for ages.

OP posts:
ConstanceFelicity · 30/03/2011 17:10

It's horrible looking at old photos and thinking how good you looked, isn't it? Especially as I thought I was ginormous even when I was not. BUt we are on our way back you know... :)

FreeButtonBee · 30/03/2011 18:41

Right, lunch was okay. Mainly meat, fish and salad. Did succumb to some puds but they were teeny and mainly berries/ dark choc. So i'm chalking this one up as a draw. Also resisted the wine after - i had a bare 1/2 glass and then made my excuses.

Dinner is leftover aubergine parmigiana, roast chorizo, greek salad and small amount of dips.

Dh now finished work- hooray. This is the first meal we've shared in about 10 days!

Also my 'boyfriend' jeans are now so loose i can take them off without undoing the button! Ha! Love it.

My bmi is just hovering above 25. Getting under 10 is proving a slooooow task.

Timbachick · 30/03/2011 19:30

Hi All, am marking my spot so I can come back after dinner and read the start of the new thread. Grin

ConstanceFelicity · 30/03/2011 19:32

Today I had-
A salad with roasted seeds with a Linda McCartney sausage chopped up into it.
Half a pear.
A veg and beef casserole. (no rice or tatties)
Coffee.
Lots of water.

Timbachick · 30/03/2011 20:31

OK, have caught up now.

Hello to all.

Haven't weighed in a while but my jeans, which were tight at the beginning of this journey are now loose and, like FBB, I can get down without undoing the button. It's a fab feeling isn't it FBB?

Have made the almond pancakes a few times now, and the whole family like them. Grin
